between genshin, hsr, and zzz, i have to say i have a lot of enjoyment and high hopes for zzz.

the team working for zzz are just amazing in my eyes (which sounds crazy especially since they're all hyv games). for one, i think so far they follow through with almost everything that they've promised. making the game having a 'low floor, high ceiling' and therefore isn't just a pure powercreep gacha game (looking at you hsr). all the gameplay promises with timelines they would say in dev notes (like getting players to be able to use different characters in the map by 1.4). literally giving us options to enjoy the contents through two different modes because half of the player base dislikes a certain mode of the game (therefore doubling the effort of the dev team to work on, which is still so crazy to me that they're actually taking this approach)...

of course all of them has their pros and cons in my eyes. for example, i am very much not a fan of zzz's blatant gooner bait, among other peeves. but something about having the developers listening closely to our feedback since the very start of the game and visibly making changes to the actual game itself accordingly is just so nice.

anyway. i'm going to go view more rooms. have a good weekend, all of you!

anyone have any clips from like. I think it was early season 10. of when a lot of hermits were talking about the recent shift in things and how they have more fun with it now and the increase in sense of community on the server/loss of some of the pressure. I'm writing an essay and need quotes and I cannot find any of those clips. it would be lovely if you happen to have some of that stuff on hand

total drama horror au where after the "contestants" were chosen, chris kidnapped them and dumped them on an island to compete in death games against each other whilst broadcasting it to the masses livestream style. they're forced to comply with their "host" or else their food/living accommodations are stripped away and they're left to fend for themselves in the forest, but participating in the challenges is arguably more dangerous.

each elimination ceremony is taken to it's literal extreme, as the voted out player is just straight up executed on the spot.

the audience think it's some sort of ARG type deal at first, with the campers being actors, but eventually- probably by the first on-screen death- people catch on to it being Very Real.

(chris funds this little 'project' himself mr beast style using his vast amount of tv star wealth, so there's no network/producers that he has to answer to.)

I think ur down playing exile on accident. The times where people visited don't rlly count because to c!Tommy they were ingenuine and just there to pity or for decorations which that third one was something c!dream told him about ghostburs visits

Perhaps you are right, but here’s the thing, just because c!Tommy sees things a certain way or thinks certain things are true doesn’t mean they are true. Not to say his feelings aren’t valid, of course. Exile was terrible and tragic regardless if it actually happened the way he saw it. You can feel alone, even in a room full of people. You can be suicidal and depressed even if the circumstances aren’t dire, and Tommy was just betrayed by his best friend that could cause anyone to spiral and feel alone. Even so, that’s not me saying that Exile wasn’t horribly isolating and Dream wasn’t cruel and manipulative. I was simply (perhaps not the most successfully) trying to look at it from an outsider pov - if it was from their pov then it’d be kinda more like this:

Dream (loses his armor and weapons, spends months tortured everyday, spends most of a year eating potatoes, his best friend is trying to kill him (like everyone else)): “I quite enjoy life.”

Tommy (his items are taken over and over again, spends Exile getting tortured by green bastard, spends Exile getting manipulated and screwed in the head to the point of contemplating suicide, his best friend doesn’t visit (just like everyone else because the green bastard turned everyone against him)): “I built a pillar because of Dream and I almost intended to jump off it.”

If that makes sense… I appreciate you using accident and thinking the best of me <3. Yes I’m not trying to minimize Exile but at the same time, 9 days to approximately 83 days of torture and 314 days of imprisonment total, it’s hard not to minimize Exile with that comparison, even if his 9 days was starvation, torture, and isolation (besides his torturer) it still wouldn’t compare and that’s not even what happened anyways, ya know? (<- not an open invitation to talk more about exile, I’ve talked about it quite a lot more than I care to, so go read those posts)…

hope everyone had a good Dreamcast month! the next console anniversary focus will be the N64 for a bit so queue has been refilled accordingly and down to 22 posts per day 👍 in the meantime I’ll do some channel upkeeping with my past Dreamcast and N64 plays while prepping for new ones. also got a new DC DanceMix in the works so be on the lookout for that sometime in the future...🚀

i think i’ve grown so helplessly attached to the stanley parable because the characters (stanley and the narrator) exhibit these detrimental flaws that i also have, but are never present- let alone explored- in other media

something something tsp is so fundamentally different for other media that it can explore smaller flaws, such as anterograde amnesia, and not make it the main point of the story.

cough cough the nature of the Narrator’s amnesia and Stanley’s whole “vessel for the player” thing makes it so their underlying problems are only hinted at, allowing more creativity in how they cope with such harsh conditions. they are literally some of the easiest characters to project onto. cough

A bit of good news for everyone.

After the editor and chief of the longstanding gaming and culture network, The Escapist, was fired, the entire video-making staff followed him over to a fully employee-owned group called Second Wind.

These creators - most notably figures like Yahtzee who is responsible for his 15+ year old, short-form game review series, Zero Punctuation - plan to continue working on the projects they've established in one form or another.

As of writing, the Patreon alone is already hitting around $4,000 a month.

With all of the projects crashing or getting cancelled lately, it's genuinely SUCH a blessing to see such a dedicated team getting to not only escape corporate whims, but also getting such a HUGE outpouring of support.
