A huge shoutout to Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein for making one of the most iconic theme songs in history.
All of their music for the show is amazing, but it was the opening credits theme that first got me hooked.
I'd even go so far as to say that the music was a big part of the reason I fell in love with the show in the first place.
When it started playing in the S4 finale after Will felt that all-too-familiar presence, I shouted!!
Tumblr media
The opening theme crossing over into the show itself felt so meta, especially in the final episode of the penultimate season, just as the Upside Down is literally crossing over into Hawkins. It felt like everything in the series has been leading up to this final showdown all along.
It's the Neverending Story effect, too, like we as the audience are suddenly conscious of ourselves and our own experiences with the show as the theme we all know and recognize becomes part of the show itself.
What a track. To this day, I never fast-forward through the opening credits.
Cheers, guys!

I'm not surprised that there's a church involved, with all of S4's Hellfire scare and the above song.
(And of course, the lore of Henry/Henward Creel supposedly being exorcised by a Catholic priest before the Creel murders happened, according to the newspaper Robin and Nancy found)
RELIGIOUS TRAUMA FINAL BOSS SHOWDOWN S5 LET'S GOOOOO
so apparently, one of the season 5 scenes is set in a church. we’re either getting someone’s funeral or an actual queer catholic guilt breakdown trope. mike wheeler, i’m looking right at you.

My favorite pieces of media are Trigun, Monster, Princess Tutu, Strangers From Hell, Link Click, Beyond Evil, the webtoon Guardians of the Videogame and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
It’s a very elaborated way of saying I choose to make myself depressed and being gay is also a choice

You could even say it's-
Season 2 Mike said, “he’s quiet today.” He really said, ‘hey, I know that something’s wrong,’ without a single hint from Will that anything was wrong.
And when Mike learned that things were going wrong, he said, “if we’re both going crazy, we’ll go crazy together, right?” He really said, ‘hey, I’m here for you. No matter how rough it gets, I’m not going anywhere,’ even in the face of this new, terrifying, bad force.
And after Mike made that promise, he stayed by Will’s side and said, “we won’t let him.” He really said, ‘I’m sticking to my word and we will overcome this,’ even as the Mind Flayer was actively taking Will over.
And throughout this whole horrific ordeal, as Will got worse and worse, Mike said, “what’s wrong?” Multiple times, at that. He really said, ‘I want to help you no matter what. Tell me what you see. Let me help you,’ and he never, ever feared Will or doubted him.
And after Mike figured out the Mind Flayer’s plan, after it possessed Will completely, after everything he knew, he said to Will,
“You remember the first day that we met? It was the first day of kindergarten. I knew nobody. I had no friends. I just felt so alone. And so scared. But I saw you on the swings, and you were alone, too. You were just swinging by yourself, and I just walked up to you, and I asked. I asked if you wanted to be my friend. You said, ‘yes.’ You said, ‘yes.’ It was the best thing I’ve ever done.”
And… do I even need to elaborate on how sweet that is?
The more and more Will was taken from him, the more and more Mike gave to him. It didn’t matter to Mike that Will was almost gone, he poured everything out to him to reach him.
That’s not just love. It’s not even just unconditional love that looks past bad circumstances, that’s dedicated love that actively works in the face of hardship.
Season 2 Mike loved Will so much that it hurt. And he was only 13.

Caught A Body At The Munsen Trailer
So, as we know, the TFS website changed Alan Munson’s name from Allen Munson to Alan Munson (and also changed Claudia Henderson to Claudia Young and Father Newby to Principal Newby):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But where else have they changed a name related to Alan?
In the soundtrack.
Look at the title of this ST OST track:
Tumblr media
Caught a Body at the Munsen Trailer”- Munson is spelt as Munsen, it’s like Allen vs Alan.
And it’s not just that the titles are added by some Spotify employee who’s never seen Stranger Things- because all of the other ST OST titles all have weird custom capitalization and punctuation quirks that don’t align with the typical Spotify capitalization:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This fits right in with this post and this post and the whole Brantley vs Bradley thing and names being spelt slightly differently & that being connected to timeline weirdness.

Risking sounding like a broken record player here (what else is new anyway) but I still just. love this song so goddamn much.
youtube
In both versions.
youtube
I do have a preference for the 16-bit arrangement overall. The in-game version has absolutely amazing oomph though. They're both perfect.
You know when people are like "i'm microwaving the blorbo" that's me with the drakenhold combat music. This thing has such a grip on me.

@magentamee bro can you imagine if they had already filmed it?? Since they had this track on the S4 playlist and it didn't show up, since there is a lot of evidence that they filmed more scenes we didn't see, the fact that Noah made that tweet about shipping Byler after Vol 2 and then we didn't get Byler......I know we're mostly in agreement that the kiss would be late in the season, but........IDK MAN WHY WAS THIS TRACK ON THE S4 SOUNDTRACK

Always nice to have a reminder that ST has been setting up The First Lie SPECIFICALLY FOR BYLER since S2.
Okay so I was listening to some Stranger Things ost when I realized something that just blew my mind.
Tumblr media
This OST in from season 2, it's called "The First Lie" and it played when Nancy and Jonathan kiss then make out in season 2, at Murray's. Why is it called like that? Because they both lied about their attraction towards one another and see how the L of "Lie" is in capital? It means it was a real LIE.
Tumblr media
And this OST which I already talked about, is called "The First I love You" and it played when El kisses Mike before leaving for California. The L isn't capital, so it is not love as in romantic, but love atleast as in platonic.
But why am I talking about two Canon ships? Well, if you listen to "The First Lie" you'll see it has the same build as "The First I love You." What do I mean by that? I mean, it has the same structure, same instruments, same music but one is just faster and the other one slower with other sounds. But it has the same structure. But why? So here it is: they have the same structure (so the same similarities, it's like the same soundtrack but reworked for the other one) because when Mike yelled to everyone because of an argument with Max and he said "So can we please come up with another plan because I love her and I can't lose her again!" and everyone was in shock because they thought he Loved her, he lied about loving her that way, as in romantic way. So it counts as a lie, a lie about loving someone romantically when he doesn't love her that way. He do loves her, but only platonically. The "L" isn't capital, cause it isn't considered as romantic.
The L isn't capital, he doesn't love her that way. And it is the same as the OST from season 2, because it was the first lie he ever said about loving El that way.
People probably already noticed, I'm probably late, but ah who cares? #byler.
