BTS of #RWRBMovie: Storming Kensington
From HELLO:
For Matthew, this scene was an important one, but one that he felt needed a different energy than what is on the page. "It is very similar and it's also simultaneously very different to the book which I think is just one way of describing this entire movie," he says. "Casey said to me after watching it for the second or third time, 'It's like there's my book, and then there's your movie and the two are very, very similar and also very different,' which is good because if the movie was so faithful to the book, it, I don't even think it would please the fans of the book.  "I know that's probably a controversial thing to say but it wouldn't have served the story very well." He continues: "I needed to observe the logic of a film and trust that I had internalized the emotional truths of the book and the Storming of Kensington in the book is a lot more chaotic and Alex is highly charged.  "When we were in rehearsals, and Taylor and Nick and I began to really delve into that scene, we realized quickly that if Alex came on that strong then Henry, given where he is mentally, would simply say, 'well, get out,' and kick Alex out. So we knew implicitly that we needed to do a different version of that scene, one in which Alex isn't at all certain of success.  "In the book, Alex is willing to burn down the castle in order to get what he wants, and although the scene actually uses a lot of dialogue from the book, our Alex in the film knows that if this doesn't work, their relationship is over. So he's a little more careful with Henry, more fearful, and Henry is more heartbroken, and those decisions really determined everything else that followed in the scene."
From Glamour:
Galitzine, meanwhile, says his most rewarding time on set came during the film's emotional climax, when Alex and Henry must decide if—and how—they're going to move forward in their relationship. “It's the emotional height of the movie in a lot of ways, and sometimes as an actor, you can very much get in your head about that,” he says. “But Taylor really was just so emotionally present that it helped me. We got to a vulnerable, beautiful space. Those kinds of moments are where you drift into a level of truth and sincerity that feels very real. That's what we're always aiming for.”
From I’ve Never Said this Before With Tommy DiDario:
ML: We had to break for lunch, and we haven't finished the scene and I was really, really worried that we were gonna come back from lunch and I would've lost them and never re-captured what was happening on set before lunch. And it was the pivotal part of the scene, the end where Alex makes an ultimatum to Henry. We got back on set and we started filming again and instantly in the first take, after lunch, Taylor started crying and Nick was facing away from him and he heard Taylor, and Nick started crying. The back half of that scene is so beautiful because they're doing such great work and I really had a difficult time cutting it because there was such beautiful, nuanced work from both of them. What's so remarkable about it is they had just had lunch, and they came right back into it and they were more dialled in, more in touch with each other than before. It was pretty remarkable. I have to say that was the moment I knew that whatever happened with this movie, those two actors would be fine in their careers.

me when someone brings up the fact that sean diaz thought his life was ending at 16, little did he know it actually did and he would never feel normal again
me when someone brings up "finn is so fucking smart. if he wasnt such a fuck-up, he couldve taken over the world"
me when someone brings up cassidys letter
me when someone brings up how the group got seperated after the incident even though they only had each other
me when someone brings up how every character had so much potential but were just dealt shitty cards in life and will forever face the consequences of not being good enough to combat the struggles they never asked for (ESP sean, cass, finn and lw daniel)
me when someone brings up the fact that its implied that max and daniel meet in the pw ending, and they finally wont feel alone for the first time in their lives
me when someone brings up how bad seans writing and drawing got after losing his eye, and he would get a migraine whenever he tried to focus, stripping him of the one thing that ever calmed him down
me when someone brings up the fact that daniel quit drawing after lisbeth manipulated him, but started again after sean died because he told him to never stop
me when someone brings up what seans teen years in prison mustve been like and what daniels first meetings with him wouldve been like
me when someone brings up how sean never even gave a second thought about being straight before meeting finn, but after he kissed him he wanted to do it again and kept telling everybody because it was such a personal thing for him
me when sean had no one to talk about prev with because his life was so fucked up and he had no outlet for being a normal teengaer
me when sean literally dreamt about telling his dad he kissed a boy because it was so important to him and he never got to have that conversation before he died, and he imagined his dad supporting him endlessly because he was experiencing a lack of that irl
me when sean got awoken from prev dream to get beat bloody and bruised by a fuckass racist (he will never experience peace)
this post is already too long and i could still go on why is this game so tragic

If the first part of the season is going to be sad for everybody then I need at least one scene with Eddie awkwardly third wheeling Buck and Tommy's date while they try to pretend he isn't.
Tommy: Baby, you look so handsome tonight.
Eddie: Aw thanks, man :) I really needed that. It's been rough, you know? What with the... whole...
Buck:
Tommy:
Eddie:
Buck:
Tommy:
Eddie: ... Okay so you were definitely talking to Buck just then, got it
Tommy: I mean... You can be baby too if you want.
Buck: Come on over here and tell us your troubles, baby
Eddie [flopping himself across both their laps]: Well. It all started when I was fourteen...

—wrote this for my beloved wife april bday a few weeks ago and thought i’d share it with the rest of ya’ll 🫶🏼 it’s also part of my rainy day theater series for those of you who enjoy that one!
rated: m | words: 6.9k | read on ao3
summary:
Why the hell was Buck calling him so late?
“Buck?”
There was some static and shuffling on the other end, Eddie wondering if Buck had butt dialed him or something.
“Buck?” Eddie tried again, the man’s voice finally greeting him.
“EDDIE!”
It was way too loud and excitable for the time of the night, but Eddie found himself smiling for it all the same.
“How much have you had to drink?”
“Where are you?” was the excited response he got, Eddie’s heart aching a little for it.
“I’m at home, in bed, where you should probably be.”
“I’d like to be in your bed.”
Eddie swallowed thickly. Buck sounded cocky, flirty.
Thankfully Buck spoke again, Eddie unable to come up with anything coherent.
“S’no-no fun w’out you.”
Buck sounded pouty, Eddie all but seeing his lower lip stuck out over the phone.
“No fun without me, huh? What ah, what would we be doing if I was there?”
—or—
Drunk Buck calls Eddie, Eddie picks him up. There's pining, with a hint of angst, and soft slutty shenanigans
tagging squad bowl, just lmk if you wanna be added or removed <3

Okay I’ve had several days to think about it, and I’m not upset about Eddie’s cheating storyline anymore.
Nobody asked, but HERE’S why.
Eddie is an incredibly traumatized character. The military experiences (+ his dead friends), losing his wife so suddenly & without closure, and a couple near death experiences will do that to you! Add that to parents trying to take his child away ON TOP OF feeling like he needs to give Christopher a mother at any and all costs…? Maybe a little bit of Catholic guilt sprinkled in there too.
Season 5 was not my favorite for a myriad of reasons, but one thing I did like about it was Eddie’s complete mental breakdown. It felt like a long time coming... BUT. His mental breakdown didn’t even really scratch the surface of his issues, and there are still a lot of things he needs to face before he can truly be at peace. One of those things is Shannon.
The effect that Shannon’s loss had on Eddie has, in my opinion, never been explored properly. We got a little of it in season 3 with the illegal fighting, and then hints of it again when he was with Ana, but it never felt like closure to me. It felt like season 6 tried to give him closure (through Marisol), but it wasn’t satisfying because it was more or less a duller version of what happened with Ana. “Moving on” for his sake, but with no real emotional repercussions. Maybe this is just a personal opinion, but his story has felt like a ticking time bomb to me since the moment he broke up with Ana. His breakdown in s5 wasn’t the real bomb though.
Now imagine being Eddie, a guy with a lot of unresolved guilt and feelings for a woman who died right in front of him. Imagine you see a woman with that dead wife’s exact face. I can honestly say I have no fucking clue what I would do in his position. What he did- erasing Marisol in his first conversation with this lookalike Kim, then later lying to Buck to meet up with Kim- is morally not okay. Sure. Would any of us act in a rational way though?
I’m not meaning to justify cheating, but I do genuinely believe this is one of the only ways that stubborn ass was going to figure out his issues in a way that might actually help him move on. He’s being delusional with Kim, and once the ball drops, I believe there’s a great big breakdown waiting for him on the other end.
People often accuse Eddie of being the most boring of the 118, and I hate that assessment so goddamn much. Eddie is probably one of theee most complex characters (besides Buck) in the entire show. He’s self-destructive, kind, loyal, patient and impatient- he’s a good father and a good friend, and he’s FLAWED. That is why I love him so much.
My initial disappointment with him partially stems from me wanting him to have a singular season of PEACE, which…I realized wasn’t possible without blowing up the bomb first (would’ve preferred to disarm the bomb but I’ll take what I can get).
