Initial thoughts on Avatar: Seven Havens based on the description (which I’m really hoping is either poorly or deceptively worded and I am very much wishing to be proven wrong about.)

I don’t really care that the Korra situation is probably going to be similar to Korruk in the Kyoshi books where it turned out he was a hero unjustly misunderstood.

I’m not looking forward to returning to the Avatar world just for people to be shitting on the bisexual indigenous woman who spent every season getting knocked down, degraded, and disrespected.

Like, what the hell do Bryke have against Korra being celebrated? Even in death, she apparently can’t catch a break.

And I really have no patience for this to be an allegory for how we scapegoat people or anything like that. We see LGBTQ+ women of color get demonized plenty in the real world; I don’t need it in Avatar.

Again, cannot stress enough how wrong I hope I am. But this is my gut reaction as someone who remembers watching the premier of ATLA when it first aired and loves Korra on a deep, personal level for her flaws as much as for her strengths.
