This is gonna be semi off topic but i got reminded of a view that i have since I'm talking about race. As a fan of Callie, when i see artists draw her as tan, black, fat, a little chubby, i don't have a meltdown and cry about it. I ENJOY seeing people come up with different takes on Callie BECAUSE I AM A FAN OF THE CHARACTER!! I LIKE CONSUMING CONTENT OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER!!!

Unfortunately I’ve just recently came to the conclusion that tumblr is no longer a safe place, nor an outlet for those who want to keep their identity/anonymity. I find it absolutely disgusting and disgraceful that there is currently people on here, who do nothing but spread misinformation and hate toward those whose soul purpose on tumblr is having a source of joy and acceptance.

The amount of absurd and ridiculous messages have received from people who consider themselves ‘fans’ or a figure in this community, is laughable.

So please, if you’re someone who has mutuals that go by an online alias, and do not feel comfortable sharing their personal info, keep it that way. Not only is exposing or slandering someone’s government name and pictures, extremely dangerous, but it’s also very harmful to that individual.

Why Are We STILL Doing This?

I'm just going to straight up say the worst thing you can do as a reader is praise a writer in one breath, then backhandedly bash their ships in the next.

Let me explain.

I'm not talking about the "I don't normally ship x, but I gave this a chance since you wrote it" comments. Because that's fine. It's totally within your right to ship and not ship whatever.

I'm talking about, "Wow, this person's x ship work is so good! But ew, they ship y. Gross."

Y'all, I write fanfic because I want to. No one's paying me to do this. I love the community I've found in doing it, but then, I see people behaving badly, and I get a lot of feelings (hint: none of them are good ones. Mostly angry, a little sad).

I've been targeted and harassed for my ships on AO3. And because I am who I am, I have embraced the petty urge to write that ship I've been told not to EVEN HARDER.

Not everyone is like that. Talking shit about a person because of the ships they like can be really bad for that person's mental health. I know people who have stopped writing popular ships because of the hate they get for their less popular ones despite clear tagging, and it's even more infuriating when I see the same people talking shit get all sad because the writer quit writing the ship they (the reader) likes.

Sometimes, I ask myself, "Why can't we all just try to make this weird wonky fandom space we share in such a way that people's mental health doesn't crumble and they get all the joy out of their fan works they seek?" Then I remember people are people.

Hard ask, but if you don't like a ship, maybe instead of speaking in ways that damage other people, you can just say, "I don't personally like that ship" and not read the thing. Hell, there are ships I don't like, and I can just avoid them because tags. (Yes, I know it's not that easy, but hell, I'm trying anyway).

TL;DR: I saw people being assholes, I have feelings, and I want those people to stop being assholes.

Unpopular Opinion: I've seen so much drama across multiple platforms today its actually insane. Especially between the lesbians and gays that stan Agatha and billy/Joe. Some of the stuff I'm reading is wild. Yall do know this shit isn't that deep right? Like there are other things we could be arguing about but being blatantly homophobic or lesbophobic is certainly a choice and over a TV show and fictional characters is crazy please seek help.

Both sides definitely have been feeding into toxicity and using slurs. I personally don't see twink or dyke as a slur. But if someone finds it offensive they have every right to feel the way that they do and you should respect that. Personally none of that shit bothers me, you become desensitized to it all living in America and being a black, non binary lesbian going by They/Them pronouns. We don't have the luxury of being offended by something lol.

What I've learned from irl and activism in my own state is that the lgbt+ community can be very toxic towards eachother on and off the internet. Outside of pride month, let's be real no one gets along. It's every man for themselves in the real world. I've hosted vigils for trans women that have been killed and had twenty people show up. I use the same promo for a pride event and hundreds do.

Which is so insane because we all kind of share the same struggle? To be seen and heard? Some demographics more so than others are forgotten and pushed to the side and that's just the truth. Regardless, we definitely lost a sense of community within the community and with trump about to be in office again I'm going to need yall to get a fucking grip on reality.

Anyways, I said my peace, go touch some grass, stop being weird. And protect trans women. It is November and the 20th is transgender day of remembrance. Attend a vigil, volunteer, do something in your community that actually matters instead of arguing on the internet and look out for eachother. There are so many people hurting rn.

i think it's completely understandable to be upset that a story you like won't be adapted in the way that made you love it BUT that doesn't give you the right to be homophobic. ok, it's going to change the story because well, there has been a change, but do you really think that because frannie's romantic partner is a woman there won't be all the sensitivity we already know and love? you really hate all this because it's a woman and not because the story you love so much is going to change. there are worse things to complain about in this series.

You can enjoy being alone and independent while also hating the loneliness and yearning of connection and wishing to be able to be dependent with AVPD.

Its not romanticizing anything if you are just trying to coexist with your disorders to make life easier for yourself.

Bigotry

One of my biggest pet peeves is bigotry. More specifically, the use or rather, misuse of the word itself. A lot of people use the words bigot, bigoted, and bigotry to refer to people who are let’s say…Trump supporters.

The definition for bigotry is:

“the fact of having and expressing strong, unreasonable beliefs and disliking other people who have different beliefs or a different way of life.”

If someone is a Trump supporter and is reasonably arguing why they support Trump and is not bashing another person for not supporting him, then they are not a bigot. Trump supporter≠bigot

The person who is telling the other that they are bigoted/a bigot, racist, stupid, etc. for supporting Trump is actually the real bigot.

Like shut up? Let them enjoy life. The only way a ship can be considered not okay is when it is any form of proship/comship or just anything disgusting.

People are so keen on trying to force people to like the exact ships they like.

I kinda got the idea to make this because I saw a post of someone who made a post of a SMG4 ship and there were so many people hatting it made me actually feel like a good person.
