A long time ago I was in a typography class and I had an assignment to draw a word out of its material. Like writing "Rock" and drawing it to make it look like it's carved from stone. I chose "Hair" and I was proud enough of the result that I ended up posting it online to Twitter. Whoever I showed it to online, I got a weird reaction like "Oh...cool." which was strange cuz I was expecting to get complimented on it. It turned out that no one thought it was a drawing. For months, everyone I showed it to thought that I was playing with wet hair clippings in my spare time like some nasty little freak.

Branch before and after he starts his journey
(this is my first time doing online drawing rather than doing traditional pen and paper drawing so apologies if it looks really bad the story I'm writing will do a better job at explaining each of these gifts and items he's wearing and how he obtained them apologies again if this looks really bad)
Before his journey After his journey
Tumblr media
Before Branch ever starts his journey because he's in the troll tree and pop village he wears more clothes that highlight this fact about him for example his skin is still like his brothers it's a more tealish blue than the regular blue he has and his eyes are still up Bright blue
He's wearing Floyd's vest
A special hair clip made by Kimset that's supposed to be a memorial clip from RosiePuff
A flower hair clip made by Viva
A special birthday crown made by his brother's Grandma and Poppy
The only part of his hair that is in blue is the strand that sticks out
However after he starts his journey he puts all of his special accessories back in his room as he doesn't want to lose them, his skin starts changing depending on the lighting and his emotional state because again he's a very moody troll, and instead they accessories surrounding him on the right are actually special gifts that he takes with him
Fingerless gloves that can turn into normal gloves by pulling the cover on top (was inspired by his brother John Dory to make these gloves)
Special goggles he got for his birthday but he tinkered with him a little bit to make them transition and night vision goggles
A dragonfly hair clip he got from Sky Toronto, (Sky knows about he's close relationship with Keith) so he got them special accessories when the boys were lost in the rain together
A special black leather jacket he made in memory of the two friends he made in Bergen Town Bridget and gristle (I'll talk about their connection in a future chapter)
Wears a special fishnet stocking he made doesn't even realize that Floyd has one that's similar because Floyd's are usually pinkish black instead of just black
Gifts during his personal world tour (specifically the accessory gifts the instrument gives will come later)
Rock troll nose ring
Country troll bandana
Techno troll glow sticks
Funk troll star earring
Classical troll handbag (a special storage kit, it was the classical trolls that taught him about wish stones and how to get one)
Bounty Hunter troll guitar pick (a special one made by the K-pop trolls but with the little bit of the other bounty Hunter magic inside of it)
Branch carries with him a special journal he made for this trip in order to help him remember the music that he's being introduced to, as he loves music so much he wants to bring them all together. He doesn't even realize the impact he has on other trolls because of his warmth, honesty, and kind-hearted nature
And don't even get me started with just how dangerous these gifts are not for branch but for others who try to harm him

Statement of Phoebe Morris
Concerning: The disappearance of her wedding planner.
Statement Taken: August 20th, 2013
Statement Recorded by Martin Blackwood, archival assistant at the Magnus Institute, London.
Statement Begins:
This happened just a little over a week ago and I'm... still struggling to comprehend it. Michelle and I had wanted to get married for quite some time. We just couldn't decide on when and where. She wanted to go somewhere expensive, extravagant, and grandiose but I wanted something more low-key. Something intimate and quiet. The only thing we could agree on was that we wanted to do it in another country. It was her idea to find a wedding planner and that led us to Philo Newcomb.
I... had mixed feelings about Newcomb from the beginning, honestly. He always seemed... I dunno, preppy? Eager? Overly friendly somehow. And I just wasn't quite sure he knew what he was talking about. I wasn't sure how you could make beige look garish and loud but his suit managed it and the ideas he had for how our wedding should look didn't sound much better but Michelle seemed to like him and he at least seemed friendly. It helped that the location he was trying to sell us seemed gorgeous. It was a massive estate in Mendoza, Argentina with a beautiful sunset view over the balcony. It was apparently owned by some local big shot lawyer in the area or something and Newcomb had been nice enough to pay for our tickets himself. So, I was split.
But then... he showed up. Philo was leading us down to the vineyard when a man in a security uniform stopped me. He was a rather large, bald man with a stoic expression on his face. His whole head seemed completely clean-shaven, not even a spec of stubble anywhere. And I remember his badge said "Tobias Rieper." He said "I think you should look at this" in an even tone and shoved a scrapbook into my hands. It contained... locks of hair... and pictures of corpses and... newspaper clippings of mourning brides and grooms over the course of decades. And on the very last page was a picture of Michelle and I on a date, with Philo's face crudely taped over mine. By the time I looked up, Tobias Rieper had already left.
I got Michelle out of there as fast as I could. I made some excuse about getting the flight bookings wrong and all but dragged her out of there. I-I didn't even explain anything until we got back to the hotel. I didn't even think to call anyone at first. Not until a few hours after we got back to our rooms. When I did pick up the phone, Michelle turned my attention to the tv. Philo Newcomb had been found dead at the estate. Having fallen over the railing from the top floor. With no suspects, police ruled his death an accident.
Michelle and I haven't discussed getting married since. We... need time. But, I thought that was it. That this was just a horrifying situation that we just barely got out of thanks to some help from a stranger. I didn't think there was anything supernatural about it. Until I tried to thank Tobias Rieper for his help.
From what I could find, there is no record of anyone by the name of "Tobias Rieper" working at that estate. Not as security, as wait staff, nothing. So I looked him up online. I got a ton of results online. A corporate liquidator from New York. An all star chef from France. But nothing about our mysterious security guard. But as I kept digging, I saw a pattern. There were never any photographs of him, but sometimes there were... stories attached. Stories about people meeting a mysterious stone faced, completely bald man named Tobias Rieper on the same day as a mysterious disappearance and never finding him again. Meeting a talented rock drummer the same day a famous rock star gets shot. Meeting a stone faced mechanic the same day as the grand prix accident. The name and face is always the same. The only thing that changes is the clothes. Like a mannequin trying on a new suit.
Statement ends.
Notes:
We tried to look up this Tobias Rieper as well and, well, we found just as much as is mentioned in the statement. Tim did, however, manage to dig up the lowest possible quality photograph of someone who matches the description of Mr. Rieper, only this man is labeled as “Lutte Faucheur,” an ex accountant from around the Bordeaux region who was let go from his firm after claiming to have “Visions From God...” Something about his eyes in the photo... He looks tired...
As for the mentioned events, we looked into them just to make sure they all lined up and they do, the only detail missing being that Philo Newcomb’s death was ruled by the Argentinian... Argentine? Er, the police in Argentina said they figured he was drunk when he fell. No autopsy report was filed but given the nature of his death and the fact that it happened where it did, well, I guess they just put two and two together...
For what it’s worth, both "Lutte" and "Faucheur" are words in french... Lutte meaning "Struggle” and Faucheur meaning "Reaper..."
End recording.
{{I'm so sorry this took so long ;^; }}

Blossoming Style
I am not Erykah Badu, albeit I am greatly inspired by her entire energy, I didn't come into the world completely formed around my sense of fashion and style. My inclinations were hidden in the substrate of my subconscious and as I became more myself it slowly rose to my conscious mind and outward facing public persona.
The one thing that really cements this is seeing how pieces I have had for a long time have changed in how I present and wear them. Its such an organic process and it happens so subtlety that its hard to notice the changes. I had recently come across a trove of images from 2007, that is seventeen years ago, lets say that again, seventeen years ago, nearly two decades! I have put together collages showing these pieces then, and how I rock them now.
This demonstration is so important for those just developing their personal style, its good to see that most of us don't just arrive at our destination and that there are many stops along the way to get our LOOKS to where we want them to be. I am still jealous of people in their twenties who seemed to come out fully formed, for some of them its access to wealth that allows this exploration and others are just naturally creative using what little they have to put together great things.
2007/2013
Tumblr media
On the left I am wearing this vintage polyester seventies shirt with one of my necklaces bought from a Brooklyn-based artisan. Off-hand I can't remember what else I was wearing but we will focus on how I later paired this shirt with some yellow jeans, tan suede boots, a bunch of bangles and another Brooklyn-born necklace with amber and ivory. I am also noting my go-to bracelet this orange-beaded piece that I bought in Miami that fell apart a few years ago, I still have the beads, just need to meet another jewelry maker.
There was a nice refining of my style, earlier I would be more simple in my approach to accessories, later I would layer more colors and textures with a look. I am also wearing Warby Parker eyeglasses in later image feeling more comfortable utilizing my glasses as an additional accessory and not just a eyesight enhancing tool.
2007/2022
Tumblr media
I snatched up this Jean Paul Gaultier haute courtier top at the Century 21 on 86th Street in Brooklyn way prior to its closing. I think this was my second Gaultier top, I really loved this one because on me it felt very African. In two-thousand seven I paired it with these wooden beads purchased at Atlantic Antic. My hair is also notable in this first image because my locs were curly, a style I haven't really rocked in years.
In two-thousand twenty-two, similar to the first set of images I have really leaned into accessories. I am pretty sure in the first shot I was wearing a pair of premium denim jeans, and my go-to Puma Black shoes that had similar color as my beads with these golf-shoes sole.
In the modern take with the Gaultier top I am pairing my newly acquired wide-legged pants from Nubian Hueman a company I think based out of DC that was vending at AfroPunk. Italian boots from Corrente I had bought online from an LA boutique. One of the beautiful neck pieces I had acquired in Accra in Ghana from a local artisan. A scarf by Zhuzh also copped at AfroPunk bundled around my neck in a way I had observed a friend wearing his. A silver cuff with a red precious stone I got while in Jaipur - India. An orange Coach ranger pack from their outlet, eyeglasses from Brooklyn-based Black-woman owned EENY Eyewear and this cobalt clip on earring of my grandmother, that I later gifted to my niece after this photoshoot. Last but not least lets notice that I did a reverse French braid with my locs just for this mini-shoot.
Whew, a lot going on here, but as you can see even with out over-layering I have learned how to really elevate a look but also tie the pieces together with my unique aesthetic which is clearly very African, Black and urban inspired.
2007/2022
Tumblr media
This coffee-bean rayon shirt from Mardana made in NYC, I purchased in a boutique in Chelsea of all places. On my neck a jade necklace probably from some local vendor, my hair in an updo and I can see this is before I lost my watch in Elmina and one of those rubber rainbow bracelets left over from the pride parade.
In the twenties I bought back those wooden bead of mine, now suspended on copper-wire by a local artist I had re-string them for me. My go-to Havaianas the only open-toed foot wear I will wear. And the pants I purchased from the late Harriet's Alter Ego which had a shop on Flatbush, anyone knowing her work would know these pant's patchworks were the mastery of Hekima who is still bringing her beautiful pieces to the world.
I am wearing a brass bracelet gifted to me by an actress on this Broadway show I was working on and a cuff from Benin that I purchased in Accra. Once again finishing off this casual look with Warby Parker glasses.
2012/2022
Tumblr media
Wow finally a piece from Gureje who used to be my go-to Black designer for pieces to wear to my gallery openings. I had him custom make this suit for me back in two-thousand twelve for a string of openings I had. A one-night only solo exhibition at Soho House courtesy of Bombay Sapphire, then my debut in Art Basel Miami courtesy of Rush Arts Gallery. I also had good company because the late Melvin Van Peebles also had one of these made for himself.
In twelve I barely had any shirts to wear with this suit and wore a linen blue and white short-sleeved shirt with it. As you can see I wasn't even at a place where I could fully realize my beauty in this suit that I need to be at my high-school weight to wear. I would also feature this suit at the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Gala in 2014 where I slayed!
Tumblr media
But I want to focus on how I bought this look back in 2022, pairing this very upscale suit with sneakers from Diverge a turquoise turtleneck from Paul Frederick a beautiful brass necklace with turquoise beads from a shop on Instagram and tortoise colored glasses from Warby Parker.
I took something classic and made it urban, fun and modern. I put together the ensemble in mere seconds and was getting compliments all day as I was out and about in Coney Island with my niece.
Tumblr media
Not going to wax poetic about these African fabric throwaway pants that I purchased on a roadside in Accra. I say throwaway because they literally cost little to nothing and were only probably meant to be worn a few times and thrown away but from 2013 to 2022 these main one of my favorite warm-weather bottoms. Versatile in being able to be paired with just about anything.
Tumblr media
This is my one takeaway for everyone who is developing their personal style, have fun, and most importantly always be YOU in whatever you wear and you too can be iconic in your lifetime.

Tumblr media
The Costume Jewellery Market reached a valuation of USD 41581.2 Million in 2023 and is expected to surge to USD 83121.0 Million by 2032, showcasing a robust CAGR of 8.0% from 2024 to 2032.
Costume Jewellery Market has witnessed substantial growth over recent years, driven by evolving fashion trends, increasing disposable incomes, and a growing appetite for affordable luxury among consumers worldwide. Costume jewelry, often referred to as fashion jewellery, is made from a variety of materials such as base metals, glass, plastic, and synthetic stones, offering an inexpensive yet stylish alternative to fine jewellery. This market caters to a wide demographic, from fashion-forward teens to cost-conscious adults, appealing to those who seek to accessorize without the financial commitment associated with precious metals and gemstones.
One of the significant factors propelling the market is the dynamic nature of fashion trends, which encourages frequent changes in accessories. Costume jewellery allows consumers to experiment with diverse styles, colors, and designs, keeping up with the latest fashion without breaking the bank. The rise of social media and fashion influencers has also played a crucial role in popularizing costume jewelry, as these platforms showcase how such pieces can elevate everyday outfits and special occasion attire.
Additionally, the market benefits from the expanding e-commerce sector, which makes a vast array of costume jewellery accessible to consumers globally. Online platforms provide detailed product descriptions, customer reviews, and competitive pricing, making it easier for consumers to make informed purchasing decisions. Major Market Drivers of this market:
The Costume Jewellery Market is propelled by a confluence of factors that together fuel its robust growth. Foremost among these drivers is the rising fashion consciousness and changing consumer preferences that encourage frequent updates to personal accessory collections. Costume jewellery offers an affordable means for consumers to keep up with ever-evolving fashion trends without the financial burden associated with fine jewellery. Additionally, increasing disposable incomes, particularly in emerging markets, have expanded the consumer base willing to spend on fashion accessories.
Another significant driver is the growing influence of social media and fashion influencers, who play a pivotal role in shaping consumer trends and preferences. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest showcase a myriad of styling options featuring costume jewellery, making it highly desirable among younger demographics. The surge in online shopping also contributes to market growth, as e-commerce platforms provide easy access to a vast array of products, often accompanied by customer reviews and competitive pricing.
Moreover, the market benefits from technological advancements in manufacturing, which allow for more intricate and innovative designs at lower costs. This has led to a broader variety of products, catering to diverse tastes and occasions. Seasonal collections and collaborations with designers or celebrities further boost the appeal of costume jewellery, driving repeat purchases.

Mythology mood board:
I wanted to do something related the mythology, specifically dragons and Gods. I looked up different types of beasts and Gods as inspiration for the design, followed by castles made from various elements. For the prop I didn’t want to do just a simple tool or weapon so I merged the idea of a sword and a staff-

Texture concept:
These were my chosen textures I put together in Photoshop to get a better visual understanding of my Dragon God  character, prop and environment. It is a little tricky to sketch a castle but I have got the basic character and prop prepared.
It was difficult trying to pick the right textures for the sword/staff prop, I changed my mind over the types of gem stones and metal type for the blade multiple times. These materials suit them and I’m happier with the amethyst design for the prop, it makes it less boring and dull-

UV Mapping:
UV mapping in 3D modelling is generally pretty difficult. With this model provided I had to try and unwrap the UVs which is what’s done to add textures smoothly. With some help I made separations in parts of the body, making the UVs a lot cleaner and easier to texture. UVs are really difficult but I slowly got the hang of it, it’s still tricky and I’m not used to 3D at all-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While looking online at references I found some helpful tips on how to get the UVs right on the head/face of the model-
Tumblr media
It’s tricky trying to figure out the right way to slice them, but these images helped me figure out they should at least look when cut.
Environment:
When I was making the castle I forgot to take pictures of the process, but this is basically my first attempt at making the castle. With some help to get started I added more to the pathways, I added the towers and structure and tried not to overdo it.
Tumblr media
Models:
My model for the Dragon God. I used the basic model as a base because I couldn’t make a person for the life of me, but I managed to make him my own with the added details and more which I added later.
Tumblr media
One technique I was shown was how to add textures from images imported to Photoshop and made into a PNG for the UV texture. I was also shown a technique on how to make clothing by duplicating the model and adding and subtracting from the top layer to leave behind clothing-
Tumblr media
A texture I made for his hair in Photoshop-
Tumblr media
The castle was pretty much complete by this point for the modelling phase. I got a helping hand with the layout of the ground and bridge. The building itself is fully mine and I modified parts of the ground and bridge, I just needed extra help to make sure nothing was clipping or would end up breaking-
Tumblr media
This was my first attempt at the prop. It’s just the basic shape first for the blade and orb at the top-
Tumblr media
Modifications:
I added more hair to the character and all that was left was to do the scales and texture him, though I still didn’t know how to go about texturing him. I thought I should sculpt on the scales and sculpt the dragon feet before doing any texturing. UV-ing would be the most difficult thing for all of them-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I updated the prop model. The blade is thinner and longer. The staff is thinner too. It looks close to my idea for the prop-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The castle has been smoothed and other platforms had been changed to make it more organic looking. I looked for different texturing techniques for the castle and backgrounds which I wanted to virtually draw. The background was a large sphere which encased the environment, it makes it easier to add a background. I want to make it dark with a black and red sky, bright enough to see it however. The bottom will be a type of element, I was thinking along the lines of lava or water, the lava matched the look of the environment and the look I had in mind for the background-

Pedicure at home
How to do Pedicure at home
Pedicures are an excellent way to treat your feet and keep them looking and feeling fantastic. Going to a salon for a pedicure can be expensive and time-consuming, but with a few simple equipment and some know-how, you can give yourself an equally good pedicure at home. In this post, we’ll go over the fundamentals of a home pedicure and offer tips and tactics to make the most of your at-home pampering.
Step 1: Gather Your Resources
You’ll need to obtain some basic tools before you begin. Some of these items may already be in your home, or you can buy them at a beauty supply store or online:
Buy Pedicure kit from Amazon in affordable price
Nail clippers
Nail file
Cuticle pusher
Cuticle trimmer
Foot scrub
Foot soak
Lotion
Toe separators
Nail polish remover
Cotton balls or pads

Step 2: Get Your Feet Ready
To begin your at-home pedicure, prepare your feet. Remove any previous nail polish using cotton balls or pads and nail polish remover. Next, clip your nails straight across and smooth the edges using a nail file. Ingrown nails can be caused by cutting your nails too short or too rounded.
Next, immerse your feet in warm water for about 10-15 minutes using a foot soak. This will soften your skin and make removing calluses or rough patches simpler. For added relaxation, add Epsom salt or aromatic oils to the water.
Step 3: Exfoliate Your Feet
After bathing your feet, exfoliate any tough or calloused areas with a foot scrub. A basic foot scrub can be made at home by combining equal parts sugar and olive or coconut oil. Massage the scrub into your feet, concentrating on the heels and balls of your foot.
Step 4: Take Care of Your Cuticles
Gently press your cuticles back with a cuticle pusher. Pushing too hard or cutting your cuticles can result in an infection. Remove any excess cuticle or hangnails with a cuticle trimmer.
Moisturize Your Feet in Step 5
After exfoliating and caring for your cuticles, moisturize your feet. Massage your feet with a rich foot lotion or cream, paying specific attention to your heels and any dry or cracked regions. You may also take this time to give yourself a foot massage, which can aid with circulation and stress relief.
Step 6: Apply Nail Polish
Paint your nails as the final stage in your at-home pedicure. To begin, use toe separators to keep your toes from rubbing together while the polish cures. Apply a base coat of nail paint, then two coats of your desired color. Finish with a topcoat to protect and extend the life of your polish.

Tips and Tricks for a Fantastic At-Home Pedicure
• Allow adequate time for your at-home pedicure. All of the processes should take at least an hour to complete.
• If you have any cuts or open sores on your feet, avoid getting a pedicure until they heal.
• After soaking your feet, use a pumice stone or foot file to carefully remove any leftover calluses or rough places.
• After applying lotion or cream to your feet, wrap them in a heated towel for an extra pleasant touch. This will allow the moisturiser to penetrate deeper into your skin.
• If you’re not sure about your nail polish talents, try utilizing a nail polish pen or stickers for a quick and easy look.

Pedicures provide various benefits in addition to making your feet look nice. Here are some of the most important benefits of getting frequent pedicures:
Hygiene: Pedicures encourage proper foot hygiene by carefully cleaning and eliminating any debris, bacteria, or dead skin cells that may collect on your feet. This can aid in the prevention of foot odor, fungal infections, and other foot-related problems
. 2. Nail Care: Professional pedicures provide regular toenail trimming and shaping, lowering the chance of ingrown nails, which can be uncomfortable and infected. Straightening your nails and smoothing the edges might help avoid unpleasant ingrown nails.
3. Callus and Corn Removal: Specialized equipment are frequently used in pedicures to gently remove calluses and corns. These thickened layers of skin can be painful and unattractive, and eliminating them improves foot comfort and attractiveness.
Moisturization: During a pedicure, your feet are normally bathed and exfoliated before moisturizing lotions or oils are applied. This helps to nourish and moisturize the skin, avoiding dryness and cracking, especially in dry areas like the heels.
5. Improved Blood Circulation: Pedicure massage techniques assist stimulate blood circulation in the foot and lower legs. This can help to minimize swelling, fatigue, and improve overall foot and leg health.
6. Stress release: Getting a pedicure can provide a great amount of relaxation and stress release. The relaxing foot bath, massage, and general self-care experience might assist you in unwinding and rejuvenating.
7. Better Foot Appearance: Pedicures improve the appearance of your feet. Your feet will look well-groomed and lovely if you remove dead skin, care for cuticles, and apply nail polish. This might increase your self-esteem and help you feel better about your feet.
8. Early Detection of Foot Issues: Visiting a nail salon for pedicures on a regular basis allows professionals to closely check your feet and nails. They may detect any irregularities or potential problems, such as fungal infections, ingrown nails, or skin diseases, early on. Early detection allows for prompt treatment and prevents the illness from deteriorating.
9. Self-Care and Relaxation: Indulging in a pedicure is a kind of self-care. It allows you to focus on yourself, relax, and prioritize your well-being. It’s an opportunity to schedule some “me-time” and engage in a relaxing and enjoyable activity.
While professional pedicures have numerous advantages, appropriate foot care and hygiene at home is vital in between salon appointments. This involves washing, moisturizing, nail cutting, and wearing comfortable and supportive footwear on a regular basis.

I have many names
.
My first name was unexpected;
My mother had spent nine months telling
Everyone: “Baby Miriam is on her way!”
My grandfather told every coworker
About his daughter, and her little baby,
Miriam
I was born
I was not Miriam;
Not to be named after the virgin mother.
Yellow and warm and rich, not purple or pale;
A colorful name, for a redheaded daughter
.
My next name was pink and short
One syllable, round and soft
I shared it, years ago, with my principal
Pink, like the bows in my hair
Yellow-orange, like the dandelions I ate
Olive-yellow and purple, like filigree leaves
And painted grapes on coffee tables
My family name, that I grew up with,
That my parents cling to still
.
My third name was given to me
Between mopping and sweeping and cash
Green and clipped and bright
Like the bills shoved into my hands,
Or the soda spewing from the machines
Quick, easily shrieked over beeping fryers.
My work name, that old coworkers called me by
Laughing quietly between garbled orders
Sketching crude diagrams of chemicals
On paper food trays and napkins
.
My fourth name came about in a moment of panic
I’d found a new blog I’d loved, and chose
To message them hello. They asked what they
Should call me; I didn’t know
“You should never tell a stranger
Your real name”, I’d been warned before
I thought of my godsister, sweet and cheerful;
Twins only in name, not birth or face,
And called myself what her mother called her
My internet name;
Still green, but edged in red
Like rosebuds against new leaves,
Full of life and energy and something new
I ran to it, and clutched it for my own
.
My fifth name was blue, a rare color
For a name, and it didn’t start as my own
D&D was new to me, and I
Joined my first campaign online, changing
My nickname to match my character’s
I didn’t want to forget it
But new people joined our server, checked
To see my name, and read someone else’s
And over time, as they called to her,
That name became my own
.
Some names, I’ve been given only once,
From just one friend, who loves me just-this-way,
And I clutch them to my chest like precious stones
Sapphire, amethyst, ebony, garnet, diamond
You cannot take from me
What was a gift
.
My college friends weren’t sure which name to pick
They’d several options, and I let them choose
The first year, which one to call me
By May, a green month, edged in red, they reached
A blooming consensus.
.
And perhaps, when I enter grad school,
My name will change, or when I become
A doctor and find a job, they’ll call me
Something new. Maybe they won’t.
I’m sure, though, whichever facet of me they choose
To name, it will be
Colorful.

Vogue morning routine
Y/N Y/N/L’s guide to effortless natural makeup
Summary: you are asked to do the Vogue Beauty Secrets video and your two boys decide to join the party
Word count: around 2000
Warning: none, just pure floof!
I apologize in advance if there are any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, English is not my first language (+ this is my very first fic)
Tumblr media
HEADLINE Henry Cavill’s new girlfriend, designer Y/N Y/L/N reveals her everyday morning routine in recent Vogue video: Y/N Y/L/N shows off her secrets to the perfect fusion of European and Asian beauty.
You stood in the spacious bathroom of the hotel room, only wearing a big, fluffy, white robe, that was actually Henry’s. But since the man was in the gym, you took the opportunity to lend it and bathe yourself in his musky smell, that calmed your nerves. Last night you started panicking, thinking you would probably look stupid for the entire world to see, luckily Henry and Kal tried to calm you down with cuddles and kisses.
This was the first ‘interview’ you would do, being such a young, successful entrepreneur really caught the attention of the media. When you first started your small online shop, you never would have thought you would end up here. Five years later, with a steady income, the job you always wished for and the man you had a crush on since the first time you laid eyes on him. Being a creative, it really made your heart soar with happiness, seeing all your products, your babies, in new homes where they would make others happy.
You were really proud of yourself. Henry was as well, and he made sure you and everybody around you knew. You were apprehensive at first, being with such a well known actor, who was also much older than you, it made you nervous of what people would say, what the media would say. You didn’t want to tarnish Henry’s image. You knew there were people with a much bigger age gap, but still, people were ruthless. So you both decided to take it slow, being careful with going out in public and social media posts.
You stand in front of the large mirror, which had a camera attached to it and open up your makeup bag. Right before you went into the bathroom, you made yourself a nice cup of tea, trying to stay calm. “Hi! I’m Y/N and today I am going to show you my everyday makeup routine,” you say with a smile, “I am not a dermatologist so please don’t take what I say too seriously.”
You grab a small white washcloth and hold it up, so it was in the frame, “First, I am going to wash my face and put on a few drops of serum,” You dampen the cloth and wipe it over your face and neck. You put a few drops in the palm of your hand and pat them into your skin. “Now I going to use my jade roller to massage the serum into my skin. It’s quite funny seeing so many people use these nowadays. In ancient China they were mostly used by the elite to keep there skin ageless. They would call jade the Stone of Heaven. It’s really helpful for the people who wake up with a puffy face like me,” you chuckle.
Somethimes you’d wake up with puffy cheeks, which led to Henry calling you his chubby bunny in the morning.
“Just a quick tip, and this is for everybody, make sure you always use SPF. I personally use SPF 30 and this one is shine control, since I tend to get an oily skin, but you can also use a regular one or a foundation with SPF in it. Believe me when I say your skin will be thankful.”
You grab the small tube of sun cream and show the amount you’ll use. You even convinced Henry to wear SPF everyday. At first he said he didn’t think it would make such a big difference, but when he realised you were going to be the one to put it on him, he was convinced about its benefits and adamant to wear it everyday. After working the thick cream into your skin, you put on some lipbalm and rummage through the pouch in front of you. When you find the product you’re looking for, you hold it up. “Now, I am going to put on a bit of concealer, this one is from Maybelline. After this, I will use a lighter shade under my eyes and on my acne scars that I have here,” you point and circle around the small cluster of scars on the sides of your cheeks.
Before blending out the concealer, you smile at the lens and put in two bright yellow hairclips, to keep your dark locks from falling into your face. “I probably should have done this at the start,” you laugh. The nerves creeping up a little. It wasn’t that you where a shy person, but knowing thousands of people will watch this, did something to you. You were always a very easygoing person, who could talk with pretty much everybody. But knowing people were going to watch you do something so intimate in a way, and would probably comment on it, scared you a little. While you would be 100% yourself, doing something as mundane as getting ready. If they didn’t like you now, then they probably won’t like you later. And that was what made you so afraid.
The bathrobe falls a bit down your shoulder, but you ignore it, since your hair fell down your shoulders in big waves. “Okay, brows. I used to block them in really dark when I was younger, but now I try to keep a light hand. I’ll use this Got 2B Glued as a brow gel afterwards. The tails of my eyebrows tend to move if I don’t use a strong enough gel. If you’re Asian you will understand the struggle.”
You quickly finish your brows, put some bronzer on your face and eyelids and take out your liquid eyeliner. “Am I the only one that acts like I’m a beauty guru whenever I do my makeup? Like, I’m just acting as if I’m used to this, right now, but to be honest, I was really nervous to do this video for Vogue,” you admit, “they will probably regret asking me,” you chuckle. You finish your eyemakeup with curling your long lashes, thanks to your mother’s genes, and add a coat of mascara.
You take in a deep breath, excited to show everyone the product you had been waiting for. “The next thing I am really proud to show you guys, because I designed the packaging. This is the new limited edition blush and highlighter palette from Dior, which they created for Lunar New Year!” You beam with pride, holding up the elegant looking palette. It had a darker toned glossy finish and the borders were the traditional Chinese looking frames, which were 3D and were surrounded by a wild variety of peonies. In the middle of the lid was your Chinese calligraphy in big golden brush stokes that said ‘year of the Ox’, the clasp was designed so it resembled an antique Chinese coin and on the side hung a jade charm.
“You can pre-order this palette now, I think they will put a link-thingy in de description. I wish you all a happy and blessed Lunar New Year, 祝农历年新年快乐牛年大吉!”
Just as you’re about to add some blush to your cheeks, the bathroom door creaks open and a curly-headed, sweaty Henry pops his head in. Fresh from the gym, and were you thankful for his new intense workout, because he was truely a sight to behold. A cheeky smile graces his handsome face when he spots you in front of the mirror, only wearing his robe, which made his grin widen.
“what are you doing in here? Are you hiding from me? Playing hide and seek is it?” he teases and rakes his large hand through the tousled curls, but just as he’s done speaking, he sees the camera behind you, and blushes. “Oh, I didn’t know you were filming, I’m sorry darling,” he smiles and gives a small wave in the direction of the camera. You led out a giggle, cheeks turning red already, if he’d keep this up, you wouldn’t need to add blush. You couldn’t focus anymore, he looked so attractive, only wearing his black gym shorts and a tight dark blue tank top. Damn that camera, otherwise you would have jumped him. Henry, thought the exact same thing. Seeing you, only wearing his robe and your hair still a bit wild from this morning’s cardio, made him hold back a moan. Those two cute, yellow clips in your hair could have fooled him, because you were anything but innocent.
Before he’s about to close the door again, he blows you a kiss. But his actions are stopped when a big bear makes his appearance. Bolting past his dad’s legs, Kal comes into the bathroom. Henry tries to catch him but misses. The black and white akita excitedly sniffs his head around the sink, trying to see what you were up to with all the stuff lying on the marble counter.
“Kal!” Henry whisper-yelled, trying to stay hidden behind the door. But you could still see his massive body crouched down behind the wood. It was rather funny, seeing the large man so panicked about getting his dog to listen. It kind of reminded you of that one video from BBC were a professor was being interviewed and his baby and nanny showed up in the background. While Henry tried to get Kal’s attention, the dog just sat next to your legs, and smiled when you pet him behind his ear. He was your good boy.
You both knew there was no other option but to keep Kal here, once he saw you do your makeup, he wanted to watch and get his ‘makeup’ done as well.
Henry also saw the look in Kal’s eyes and let out a sigh. Might as well stay with his two loves. He stood up from his position and walked to you, wrapping his sweaty but oh so save body around your figure, and placed a prolonged kiss on the exposed skin just by your shoulder. So far for taking it slow… He pressed himself thighter against your back, hiding his face in the crook of your neck and intertwined your hands, slowly rocking you two back en forth. “You look beautiful, my love,” he whispered, so only you could hear it, at least you hoped the camera wouldn’t pick that up. You let out a little giggle, like the inner schoolgirl you were whenever he was around you.
“Kal loves when Y/N does his makeup as well, don’t you boy,” Henry explains with a smile and looks down at the bear by your bare feet. Kal gives a small ruff and sweeps his tail eagerly. “Did you show them what you made,” he asked you with a wide smile, and looked straight in to the camera, “she worked really hard on that design, so I hope you all like it,” he declared proudly.
You ended up doing your makeup routine with your two boys in the background. Henry left for a few minutes to shower in the second bathroom your hotelroom had, and came back clad in a pair of light jogging trousers and a sweater. Even though you were inside, it was still a bit too chilly to walk around in short sleeves, being mid-winter and all. He just sat on the small wooden bench by the door, still in frame for everybody to enjoy and behold. His hair now damp. He was reading in a book and patiently waiting for you to get ready, occasionally looking up and laughing when you would wet your hands or Kal’s special makeup brush in the sink and pretend to do his makeup. The dog would bark excitedly and give you kisses. “Wow Kal, you look so pretty,” Henry told the big floof with the chuckle.
“Okay, this was my -somewhat- everyday makeup routine! Thank you guys for watching this chaotic mess, hope you laughed a bit, bye-bye, 再见!” How do those vlogger end their videos? Smash like and subscribe?
Behind you Henry looked up from the pages of his fantasy book and arched his brow, “Hey! No shout-out for your special guests? See you all next time!”
WOOHOO!! This is my very first fanfic, I really hope you enjoyed it. Liking, reposting and commenting would mean a lot to me! If you do repost this, please do not edit or copy my work. I worked really hard on this.
Much love, Nahmi xxx
