Mutual Aid

i made the text green this time. my friend latasha has been working her ass off at her hotel cleaning job without yet getting paid for her months-long training period. she was about to get paid last week, but they fucked up taking down her routing number and aren’t fixing it quickly enough. she got HR involved but we still don’t know when exactly her check will come in.

i got her electrical but can’t get her bus pass and wi-fi bill, which are coming up at the end of the month and total $108 ($78 for the bus pass alone). i’m posting this a bit prematurely to avoid it becoming an emergency—even after her first paycheck comes through she’ll still be pretty broke overall and will have to budget really tightly for stuff like food, let alone if she has a medical emergency (she has severe asthma). she’s just a teen managing a lot of intense situations. this should regardless be my last post about her for a long while, but we don’t know quite yet. anything helps:

I’ve been watching the new Disney Percy Jackson series and, excellent news: an Amtrak train is not only a setting for some of an episode, but directly name-dropped! They wreck an observation car :)

However, the thing that was driving me up the wall is that this train seems to be going from somewhere in New Jersey (probably with a terminus in NYC), through St. Louis, and is bound for LA. Now I’ve taken an Amtrak from Chicago to LA so it’s not like I’ve never looked into trains to LA and I know there are a couple routes they could take if they were going through Chicago, but I can not for the life of me figure out a direct route that goes from New York/New Jersey that goes through specificallySt Louis instead of Chicago.

My sister called me a train nerd for yelling about it to her while I was watching, but I wanted to 1) inform you of the cameo and 2) ask if I’m wrong and there IS a route that could make sense for this storyline

No route exactly like that exists but you could connect 2 routes to get something similar, Cardinal to Chicago then Texas Eagle which stops in STL but you would want to stay on the train, the Texas Eagle transfers to the Sunset Limited in San Antonio which takes you to LA
