losing everything honestly .  as much as he’s scared of his father , losing everything he’s gained since being on his own is probably his worst fear .

he’s not fond of weapons even if he does run weapons to people sometimes , but if he had to choose , it’d be an aluminum baseball bat .  you can really fuck someone up with one of those and they’re pretty light to carry which wouldn’t slow him down .

she always knew she had a bad lot in life, but damn.

the blue flower stares at her, resting on her cupped palms.

she wants to laugh, really. of all people, him? he wasn’t her usual type, that’s for sure. she was starry-eyed for the kind of person you could be reasonably confident of introducing to your parents, and he was very far from that cookie-cutter ideal. though, she thinks wryly, there’s just one thing he and all the rest she’s ever loved before shared in common: they don’t love her back. like her, even. probably.

there’s a twinge in her heart, not unfamiliar – and she hates that. feelings can be strange – they creep up on you when you least expect it, and take hold of you until you couldn’t breathe.

all things considered, she wasn’t too worried. yet. it wasn’t exactly her first time contracting the disease, she’s sure she’d get over it soon enough. in the nick of time, probably. when her sister hears her coughing in the middle of the night again, hami’s sure she’ll know what it means, and sniff the other out and attain him. nothing out of the ordinary.

there’s a blockage in her throat and she coughs, another pretty flower emerging. she fights the urge to rip it to pieces.

noise at the entryway breaks her out of her thoughts, and she stuffs the flowers under the cushions – look, they have nowhere else to go, okay? – and adopts a nonchalant pose. clears her throat. “hey,” she says, ignoring how her traitorous heart skips a beat just by looking at him. “there’s leftovers in the fridge, courtesy of my mom. we can start the movie when you’re ready.”

SAM ISN’T A WORRIER, he usually lets life happen and deals with it all in small doses. it’s how he’s gotten good at being what he is  ( both mutant and assassin alike ). though, there are still some worries sam has — mostly about his friends. the few he has and manages to keep are important to him and it’s a large reason why he is the way he is now. so when pierre sends short responses to him as he’s packing his car up, he knows something isn’t quite right and promises himself he’ll swing by and check on him before heading out of town for what he’s calling his vacation.

it takes a while to unlatch aneirin from his waist, his best friend begging him to please come back and not stay away. sam can’t remember how many times he’s promised it already, but it’s aneirin, he’s not going to be exasperated with him. he ruffles aneirin’s fluffy hair  ( something he hates )  and gives hanbi a tight hug goodbye before heading to his car to leave. the others couldn’t see him off, but he’d said his goodbyes to them last night and it isn’t like he’s leaving forever. it’s just going to be a few months on the road, maybe more, just to explore and have some fun.

as promised, he stops by pierre’s place and heads right to the door. he can’t even begin to guess why pierre’s messages are so short, and it might not even be anything, but sam’s intuition is rarely wrong. with that in mind, sam knocks gently.  “ pierre ? ”  he calls softly,  “ are you home ? ” // @stillwonders
