Insomnia is letting up off and on, but I'm still super jelly brained from it case in point, I want to continue back with posting WIPs for the aired pages, but I can't remember what page I left off on now lmao (guess I'll have to dig through my blog to check... eesh. at least it's decently organized by tags?) Not a result of goo brain, really, but equally "AUGH" is that I let my screen protector go for too long without replacing it and now it's slick as snot and I don't have a replacement handy to put on it. This isn't a resulting consequence of goo brain but it does mean I'm going to be trying to draw without any traction while I'm already loopy. Good times ahead!

The other set of Vargases came over for a visit and Scriabin picked up Shmee and started talking to Scriabin through him. Very normal, very usual

I downloaded some circle-glasses recolours and hghghh they look so good! Closer every day to his final details! Getting ever closer!

Edgar too! I made him a custom hair with a lighter undercut - I’m mostly happy with it, probably could’ve shifted it a shade closer to his skintone but the texturing was weird no matter what :P And his stripey shirt! I wish Body Shop didn’t have that hands-on-hips pose lol, it looks so much better in-game, but that’s all the better :)

I got some new clothes for Todd as well! As soon as I saw this ‘fit I was like “Oh that’s 100% Todd there he is.” Scriadad hug ♥ So cute

Using this as an audio reference for the posts I'm making, but to summarize:

Yuri starts out mad.

Yuri tries to calm himself down with a deep breath to ask for details instead of going through it angry.

Flynn doesn't say "like a good knight" in the sense of putting himself down. He simply says "as a knight" (the tl here doesn't use that, but with that included it's basically along the lines of "even though I had doubts, as a knight, I was determined to follow my orders").

Once Yuri has answers he calms down significantly.

Yuri uses " 'ttaku", which is a shortened down version of "mattaku" (Yuri often shortens words and speaks very casually), which in this particular situation basically would mean "geez", or "good grief". In this manner, it's expressive of exasperation/frustration/etc.

Yuri never mentions that "Flynn told him what to do" like the dub does (because in fact Flynn did not ever tell Yuri what to do. He only gave Sodia and his other knights orders. He expressed his own desire to take responsibility, but never told Yuri and his friends what to do).

At this point you can tell the anger has gone out of him and that he's calmed down, now that Flynn is approaching this with admission and responsibility.

Sodia is asking that Flynn returns as soon as possible (I believe this was a general translation error).

Flynn's thank you to Yuri is tonally much more heartfelt.

Yuri's response and gratefulness at Flynn coming back to himself is tonally much more heartfelt, relieved and sincere.

okay, so: i’ve been grumpy about How Slowly Revision Have Been Going (coming up on.....almost a Year......), because it’s felt like i’ve been trapped in The Beginning This Entire Time.

however: i’ve input most of what i’ve done so far, and it’s uh. 78 pages?? which. isn’t an insignificant chunk. and i’ve finally cracked what my major hangup was re: the slowness (in text, not in life although life hasn’t been a mystery for a while lol) and i’m slowly unfucking that, so. i think i’m feeling pretty good, all things considered??

Continuing on from this post--

For the gods like Baphomet, who are more “free”/”wandering” gods, I kind of look at it as a sort of “for me” to the bound gods’ “for you” sort of feel. So where it’s more the gods being influenced on the other side of things, it’s the followers that are more influenced here.

With this, the god’s thoughts, emotions, and goals will slowly start to become ingrained in the followers, bit by bit. Not enough to change their entire personality (unless the god really tries to push that, I’d assume), but definitely enough to make their belief in their god, and what they’re doing in service to said god that much more powerful.

Bordering on dangerous almost, in certain situations.

Essentially, that heightened belief lends toward these gods having followers that are more fanatical than they might be otherwise. Cults and that sort of thing might be more prevalent with these deities, as the connection is directed more from the god to the follower, as opposed to the other way around. 

Because of this, both the followers and the gods tend to get a more tangible “reward” from the connection. More power, more energy, better constitution, stuff like that. Which is kind of why the reverence toward these gods can get dialed up to 11 like...super fast.

It also, however, has its setbacks. Without the connection to a realm to sort of balance things out, if something happens to the god that causes their energy to tank, or something like that, the followers can very suddenly lose the “rewards” they’d previously been given-- usually with little to no warning. Obviously this can lead to a lot of displeasure, especially when it can take a good amount of time for the god to recover enough for their followers to get these rewards back again...if at all. There are a good number of cases where this happens, and the deity is labeled as a sham, and they lose vast amounts of followers because of it.

Which leads to this next bit. If the god loses a large enough amount of followers, (or more accurately, if the strength of belief in the followers they have lessens significantly enough) the god will in turn lose a portion of the power and influence that they may have had previously. The amount in question is determined by the amount of faith that has been lost in them.

It’s something that the “bound” gods have trouble with as well, but nowhere near to the same extent as with the “wandering” gods. Kind of a high risk, high reward type of payoff.

This is because, for the bound gods, they would only lose power, etc. to a certain point. There’s a hard cap to their minimum power level, whereas with wandering gods, there wouldn’t be. To the point where if belief in them fades completely, they could probably lose their godhood altogether, or-- more likely-- fade from existence themselves, and die outright.

So there’s almost always a sort of urgency in their need to give their followers more reasons to believe in them, and to draw in more followers that will strengthen them further. Whether it be taking the route of kindness and protection, or of fear and intimidation, or something else entirely.

Things are more volatile, and for these gods, there would be that constant struggle with “Do they love me, or do they love what I do for them?”, and “Am I doing this to make a difference for my followers, or am I doing this for my own gain?” or even in some cases “Why do I have to put in this amount of effort to make them believe in me just so I can stay alive?”, as these “wandering” deities are all born into godhood. Meaning, they can’t just return to what they were before, like an ascended deity could.

So there’s pros and cons to each side, for sure.
