What animes would you recommend to aromantics?
It's going to be all old anime on this list, as I haven't watched anime and especially new anime in a while. But maybe I'll be mentioning some that you've never heard of...?
(Also. I'll include triggers warnings but uh... my taste in media veers quite dark so... keep that in mind. I'm aware that's not for everyone.)
First recomendation isn't an anime, it's a j-drama, but I recomend it to every single aromantic.
It's called Koisenu Futari, which translates to "Two People Who Can't Fall In Love". It's an 8-episode series about two aroace people that meet and decide to live together and form a family without romance or sex. And surprisingly, the show focuses a lot more on the aromantic side of their identities than the asexual side. The series deals with so many aromantic issues, from unwanted romance advancements to "everyone falls in love!" to coming out to your family to finding aspec meet groups. The two aroace main characters are also very different from each other, so its really nice to see the diversity of aroaces portrayed. They're also adults, one in her late 20's or early 30's, and the other around 40. I even more so recommend this to adult aromantics, as we don't usually see that kind of rep. But I think even teens can get something out of it, perhaps seeing some potential futures for them in a world that doesn't make that easy to figure out.
Now, onto the anime!
Saiki Kusuo no PSI nan is a comedy anime. Each episode is split into different skits, and many of them feature the main character Saiki wanting nothing to do with romance or sex. It was and still is extremely relatable to me, and I read him as aroace, even if it was likely not intentional. It's also legit the funniest thing I have ever watched. The show is also so chaotic. The characters talk ridiculously fast, Saiki has every single super power you can think of, and all the other characters have such entertaining and wacky traits. It's very unique and a really great time.
Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun is another comedy show featuring a very aroace-coded main character. I especially recommend this anime for aspecs who are artists, as this character is an artist too and in the series you see quite a bit of relatable overlap between that and his aspec-coded-ness. The series is technically a romance, as the main girl is in love with the aroace-coded main guy, but its kind of more of a subplot? And it never veers into unwanted attention; the main character is somewhere between romance neutral or romance favorable.
Digimon is about a group of kids that become chosen and bonded to creatures from another world. These creatures are essentially their soulmates, and they have to learn to work together and save the world. Not only do they end up bonding and becoming friends over time, but the kids also go on character arcs about or related to real world issues. Parents' divorce, adoption, the responsibility of being an older sibling, depression, etc. It's a kid's anime, but they go pretty deep and heavy on these subjects while remaining kid-friendly.
There's 10 seasons, but each are basically their own independent series, with the exception of seasons 1 & 2 and the theatrical movies which are all connected in one universe. The rest all take place in different universes with new and different casts. So you can watch any of them you like, in any order. They all have very different feels to them, so it depends on what your preferences are. Adventure is very character-driven and 2000's anime, Tamers is dark and is the only series to feature perma-deaths, Frontier has a very Sentai feel to it, Appmon is episodic that slowly builds to a big plot by the end, Ghost Game is purely episodic and kids' horror. The majority of them are romance free, and the few others only have small subplots about crushes that usually don't go anywhere.
Ajin is romance-free seinen that's dark fantasy! It's about a young man who discovers he's immortal and cannot die, and suddenly two factions want him on their side, when he just wants to have a normal life, and he reluctantly gets dragged into fighting for a chance at having a normal life again. The main character has low empathy and its treated very respectfully. There's also an extremely interesting villain who comes up with really clever plans. The anime is two seasons, with season 2 being anime-original and not following the manga, but its not bad. The manga is finished now, and its got quite a few more arcs following the equivalent of season 2, if you're interested in more.
Trigger warnings for: Gore, death, and suicide. The majority of characters can revive, so there's a lot of that, and as a result it's not treated too seriously, which might make those themes better or worse depending on your sensitivity. There's a lot of suicide "resets" in the series, so keep that in mind.
Chainsaw Man is a dark fantasy shounen that really pushes "shounen" as far as it can go. It's known for being extremely horny, and it is, but its horny in not only a very respectful and consenual way, but also in a very aromantic-friendly way. Unfortunetly it takes a bit of time for it to set up and then invert those shounen tropes, and currently the anime only has one season and it really doesn't cover much of the series. It's a great season, don't get me wrong, but all the really good stuff hasn't happened yet. And all the moments that aromantics especially would like, don't happen until much later. That said, if you're looking for a new and ongoing show to keep track of, keep your eye on Chainsaw Man!
The plot is, on one hand, exactly what you expect from the title. A man who turns into a chainsaw monster and fights other monsters. But the series goes so much deeper than that, inverting shounen tropes, and becoming so chaotic and unexpected. Even if you've gotten spoiled, don't worry, the series isn't ruined for you. There's still plenty of surprises and enjoyment in store, I promise.
Trigger Warnings: Gore, body horror, child grooming throughout but framed as bad, one scene of an adult nearly sleeping with a minor that's framed pretty neutrally imo (in the anime its the end of episode 7 and start of episode 8, and in the manga its chapters 21 and 22), cannibalism, occasional tasteful barely-censored nudity, lots of mentions of boobs and desire to have sex, and a few barely-censored orgy pages
Mild Spoilers but as an aro here's my favorite thing about the series: The series features a m/f relationship that starts out slightly sexual, becomes platonic, and by the end they become and explicitly declare that it is platonic/familial.
Other Recommendations:
I have yet to see these two myself, but I've heard good things about Dr Stone and Bloom Into You. Dr Stone has been compared to Saiki Kusuo in which the protagonist of Doctor Stone also tries hard to avoid romance and comes off as very aro-coded. Bloom Into You features a WLW romance in which one of the girls coming off as very arospec.
Well-written and interesting romances that I've enjoyed:
Erased (Boku dake ga inai machi) is a psychological thriller that is somehow both a romance and not a romance. (Mild spoilers but: They don't actually end up together in the end.) It's about a guy who goes back in time to stop a girl in his class from getting kidnapped and murdered. Him and his friend group end up becoming genuine friends with her in the process, and the rest of the series is about keeping her safe, helping her get out of her abusive home, them all just having fun together as kids, and of course the inevitable confrontation with the kidnapper. There's definitely elements of the two kids having probably-crushes on each other, but its on the more subtle side. Still, I figured I'd put this in the "romance" category anyway. The friend group is cute, but it's not quite on same level of found family as the other series I've mentioned. The show is mainly about the main two kids and their relationship.
Trigger Warnings: Brief bloody stabbing of an adult in Episode 1, kidnapping, child murder, physical and emotional abuse of a young child, and lots of child endangerment as a result of all this. There's also a young adult man being shipped in-series with a teenage girl by other adults, and (mild spoilers) lowkey implied they get together at the end when she's now an adult due to time travel shenagins.
Yuri On Ice features a slow burn MLM couple (one of which who can be read as arospec and/or acespec), as well as a teenager who comes off as pretty alloaro. In the MLM relationship, there's so much trust and affection in their relationship, and so much acceptance and willingness from the partner to take their relationship slow.
Noragami has three main romances and they're all straight, but each and every one is very interestingly-written and well-written. The main characters and main couple does feature a supernatural age gap, though, which I know makes some people uncomfortable. It's about a teenage girl who has a near-death experience and ends up discovering the world of gods and ghosts that exists alongside humanity. It starts out cute and comedic with her exploring this world and befriending them, but it ends up becoming a bit more complex and dark than it first appears.
Trigger Warning: Mild monster gore and monster body horror, themes of suicide and death as the series features a lot of ghosts, and tbh the series' interpretation of what happens to victims of suicide is... not great... and one of my few issues with the series. It's not a major aspect, but its there, and I could definitely see how that would be triggering for people who are sensitive to those themes or have that real-life worry about the afterlife, so just be mindful and careful if that's applicable to you.
Manga-Only Recommendations:
These last two are a bit... unique... of recommendations when it comes to their anime.
The Promised Neverland: The story is romance-free, and focuses on a found family of orphanage kids, along with a few adults and more orphans they pick up along the way.
The story is about an orphanage that's just a front for basically farming human kids for "demons" to eat. The kids find out and try to escape, so the first chunk of the story is about them figuring that out. It's a whole psychological thriller of a mind game as they play dumb while plotting a secret escape. Season 1 is actually a masterpiece and fully and near-perfectly adapts this part of the story.
Season 2 is where the remainder of the story is cut apart and shoved into 12 episodes and is a mess. (Like, they litterally cut out the Fan Favorite arc. The entire arc. Why. Also they remove like 30 characters.) Meanwhile in the manga, this is a several arc long story in which the kids have successfully escaped, but now they need to figure out how to survive and what to do next. The world gets a lot bigger and more complicated.
Trigger Warnings: Cannibalism, very young child death, child endangerment, gore, and body horror
Tokyo Ghoul: There are quite a lot of couples in this story, but this manga has always been unique to me, in the sense that the couples are well-written and likable, and yet there's very little actual romance to them, so it never triggered my romance repulsion. There's also a giant cast of well-written characters, most of them recurring, and an incredible amount of interactions between characters. It's honestly my favorite little thing about the series.
As for plot... It's a Seinen Dark Fantasy featuring a young human man, who's turned into a ghoul, a creature that can only feed on human flesh. Suddenly he finds himself a part of a different society, and has to learn and adapt, and he discovers along the way that "ghouls" aren't the monsters they're made out to be, and he ends up having a really giant found family at the end after starting out with only 1 friend.
And as for the anime... please just skip it and read the manga instead. Save yourself the headache. Season 1 is decent but still has issues. Season 2 is entirely anime-original, cutting out tons of content and characters and character developments and even changing character fates. Then season 3 pretends like Season 2 was an accurate adaptation, so it never gives context for all the story that was skipped, and anime-only fans are incredibly lost. Additionally, season 3 is ridiculously rushed, at a high chapter-to-episode rate, and also doesn't have great animation as a whole. Please just read the manga. Its the entire story and the art especially in part 2 (Tokyo Ghoul:re) is absolutely gorgeous.
(Also sort-of-self-promo but, I had fun with the blog @tokyoghoulaspecs in which I essentially made aspec headcanons for each and every character in the series.)
Trigger Warnings for: Lots of cannibalism, gore, body horror, themes of depression and suicide / suicide idealation

Warm rough fingertips danced along your bare back, stopping to trace along the horse tattooed upon your shoulder. The cool rings made you grip your champagne flute tighter as the hand -- which most certainly was not your husband's -- dipped from your shoulders down your exposed back to the indent above your waist.
"Backless dresses suit you much better than men's clothing, pet," his breath tickled your ear as he rounded you, his red beard unruly compared to his sharp black suit. "You lied to me those years ago. You are a Shelby."
"You ever hit me again, Mr. Solomons, and I'll gut you in front of God and Polly," you smiled as you tipped your glass to him, your wedding ring gleaming against the flute. "Keep that in mind tonight."
"I don't remember you being so brave those years ago," he squinted, looking over your dress. As his gaze followed the line of your body you cocked your hip, showing your leg through a slit in the gown. His eyes widened before snapping back to your face. "Pretty creature gained courage with a ring on her finger."
His hand lingered on your waist as his fingers played with the edge of your cherry red dress. You lifted your eyebrow at him but refused to move out of his grasp.
"You looked me in the eye far more when I was dressed as a man," you countered before finishing your glass in a gulp. "Perhaps my witchcraft only works on you when you're reminded of my body. You forget what you told me?"
"Which part, love?" He smirked as his free hand smoothed his beard.
You leaned forward and pressed your hand on his chest as you whispered into his ear.
"Funniest thing about pretty creatures, pet," you drawled, mimicking his accent. "The most colorful are usually the likeliest to kill you dead without warnin'."
You pulled back and looked around the room with bored eyes. You could see Arthur shooting glances your way as he conversed with a man, and John and Esme were at a table across the crowded ballroom. Esme wrangled their youngest and John's glare fixed on Alfie's arm. His fist was tight on the table as Esme drew his attention back to his family. Finn and Isaiah were both talking in a corner with the help, darting glances your way from time to time.
You raised your glass to a maid and nodded for her to bring her tray over. She smiled nervously and hastily cut through the crowd.
"Mrs. Shelby," she said, eyeing Alfie standing so close with his hand on your waist before her eyes snapped to yours.
"I'm bored of champagne," you monotoned. "Get me a whiskey, please, Dolly. Mr. Solomons? Would you rather rum? Gin?"
His eyes flashed and you felt his fingers flex on your side.
"Don't drink the stuff, meself," he said. "I suppose, when in hell, I'll have a whiskey."
"How courteous to fall to our level," you teased as the maid tittered away to fulfill your request.
"I've seen no white knight come to your rescue yet, pet," his cold rings pressed against your bare spine. "Why do I feel glares but no one has dared interrupt us? Where is my good friend Mr. Shelby?"
"I've no need for a good man, let alone a knight, Alfie," you smiled and raised your glass to the ballroom. "This is my dear husband's fundraiser. He's around somewhere talking old men out of their money and into his favor."
"Ay, Birmingham and London wasn't enough, he had to join parliament," he chuckled. "And his wife's scandalous attitude has gained more than one headline in the papers."
Alfie's hand raised to graze along your tattooed shoulder.
"You show you are marked so openly," he murmured. "Like a badge rather than an abomination."
"God never visited Small Heath," you laughed. "No need to gain favor of an absent father."
"Blasphemous with a smile," Alfie shook his head and pressed his lips into a tight line. "Perhaps you should be in men's clothes with the balls on you."
"Says the man with his hands on another's wife at a very public gala," you smiled curtly and squinted at him, as if assessing him and finding him wanting.
"How will the papers headline it?" Alfie said, leaning closer as if to tell a secret. "Another man touching the good politician Shelby's wild wife. Her bare back at that. Scandalous, innit love?"
You laughed loudly and threw your head back, running your fingers along the seam of his suspender inside his jacket. You felt him freeze under your touch as you pressed against him, taking in the spice of his cologne as heads turned to follow your laugh to its source.
"Aren't you a prominent beacon in the Jewish community, Mr. Solomons?" You pushed the words into his ear, velvet draping over him as your grin grew Cheshire-like. "I'm not the only one that can suffer a scandal, and I can promise a pious man will make more headlines than a Shelby."
The maid returned with a stiff 'ma'am' as she handed the whiskey glasses to you both. You murmured your thanks, sipped your drink as you deftly took a step away and turned to face your adversary.
You looked over his shoulder to see you had Polly's full attention, her scowl cutting you as your glance stuttered on her. She nodded once slowly as she glared daggers one more moment before returning to her conversation. The signal was loud and clear: behave.
Your eyes searched the ballroom again, finding John's jaw set as he held a toddler, his eyes squinting at yours in question. You winked at him, a smile curling on your lips that you tried to hide by the rim of the whiskey glass. He was not amused.
"Getting all your orders signed to you, love?" He chuckled. "Did you get in trouble with your family? Not as free as you'd like to think."
Alfie smiled wide, a wolf who realized he found a soft spot, and took a large gulp of his drink. He grimaced, clearing his throat as he frowned at the glass.
"I'll forgive you this once," you said, your attention returning to him. "So it won't interfere with our business."
"Business?" Alfie frowned. "You would never interfere with my business with Tommy."
"No, Alfie," your eyes hardened as Alfie's expression blanked. "I do mean our business."
"Alfie, old friend," a warm voice called from behind you as a familiar hand rested on your back. "I hope you didn't start business without me. Some of my guests require more attention and it becomes difficult to get away. I see you found (Y/N) to entertain you."
Alfie watched as Tommy came up beside you, all ease and familiarity as if it was instinct. His suit was crisp, every corner of his appearance perfect and every bit a politician, down to the fake turn of his lips. His fingers played with the fabric against the small of your back and goosebumps covered your skin as he talked with the increasingly agitated man in front of you.
"What do you mean she's in charge of your shipping business?" Alfie's voice had clipped, his games falling aside as his shock got the better of him.
"Exactly what he said," you smiled. "If you would like a piece of our shipping gin -- and possibly your rum -- to the Americas, you'll need to speak to me."
"Ah," Alfie said, tongue circling an eye tooth as he reassessed you in Tommy's arms. "So the soldier had become a general herself."
"More like a queen," Tommy said, leaning down to kiss your cheek as he pulled you into his side.
"Wouldn't the charity be better business for a woman to run?" Alfie frowned, squinting between you both.
"Lizzie is running the charity," you supplied, your fingers running along Tommy's arm that stretched along your middle. "We're a modern company, Mr. Solomons. Multiple women can run multiple pieces."
"I was hoping to introduce you two, make the transition smoother," Tommy said as his jaw ticked. "But you seem to have shot straight for (Y/N) before I could."
"We've met, we did," Alfie said as he twisted his beard in his hand. "Had a nice little discussion all those years ago, didn't we pet? Thought it only proper to give her a hello while you were busy."
Tommy's face was blank, his eyes half lidded as if bored. If anyone could shut Alfie Solomons' erratic energy down, it was Tommy Shelby and his nature of being completely still. Looking between the men was like looking between fire and ice. Both were dangerous, conniving, and ambitious to a fault.
Alfie was loud, erratic, constantly flipping moods, expressions, energies, to keep everyone around him on their toes. You never knew when he would strike because he constantly tapped on walls for weaknesses. By the time he had done what he wished, no one flinched because it was old hat. You couldn't tell whick way was up or down by the time Alfie was done with you.
Tommy, on the other hand, preferred to be still, watchful, quiet. People often would see his blank face and -- unable to read an expression -- take whatever he said as truth. He would hold himself still until everyone forgot he was there and when he would strike there would be nothing but astonishment and dust in his wake. He was a ghost.
Tommy licked his lips, letting the air thicken between them before he unwrapped himself from your waist and took your hand. You placed your drink on a nearby table. His eyes instantly warmed as they left Alfie to look you up and down.
"Do you like this dress, Alfie?" Tommy asked as he twirled you slowly in front of the man, letting the long red fabric frame you. "I picked it out myself. I believe it's from Paris, right love?"
Alfie grunted, looking between you and Tommy with suspicion.
"It is," you said evenly, allowing him to spin you in front of the man like he was showing off a jewel in the light.
"Your taste has always been rich, Tom," Alfie squinted. "No doubt about that."
"It's made from a very fine silk, I believe," Tommy went on, ignoring the comment, his eyes dancing between your figure and Alfie's confused face.
"The thing about it is the cut," he went on, leaning toward Alfie as if conspiring. "My beautiful wife can't wear undergarments with it. Low back, that slit up the side, how the dress flows over her more like water than fabric. Very unfortunate, don't you think?"
Alfie's eyes widened as he eyed your body even closer. He reddened slightly as he finally made his way to your face to see your eyebrow cocked at him daringly, the smallest curl of your lips a mix of a snarl and a smile.
"Very unfortunate, indeed," Alfie mumbled. "Why are you telling me this, Tom?"
"Oh no reason at all," Tommy tilted his head and winked as he pulled you closer to him, his hand dropping yours to rest splayed on your hip.
"You're going to dance with my wife, Alfie, while I grab a smoke," Tommy said, the edge to his voice sharper than his locked jaw. "And you'll figure out the conditions for our joint alcohol smuggling effort during that dance."
Tommy's blue eyes burrowed into Alfie as he waited for an answer. Alfie nodded slowly and extended his hand toward you, a grimace on his face as you dipped your head and accepted his hand. His hand extended yours out as his other rested on your waist, flitting over your skin rather than holding. He was nervous like a clumsy child that was told to set the table with fine china tonight.
"Oh, and Alfie," Tommy called before Alfie could pull you too far away. You both looked back at him, but only you had a sparkle of mischief in your eye.
"She might cut you if your hands wander," Tommy said, his eyebrows raised as his chin and voice sank. "I'll shoot you in the fuckin' face."
You exhaled a sharp laugh as Alfie's hand on your waist all but hovered above you, his face white as a sheet as he pulled you away from your husband. Tommy gave a nod and moved within the crowd, finding a place next to Polly for a moment. You looked around the room for a moment before reading your eyes back to the uncomfortable man in front of you.
"I will, you know," you smiled as his mouth quirked. "Cut you."
"With what blade in that dress?"
"Oh, you'd be surprised," you said.
Alfie grunted and looked over your shoulder, no doubt looking for the positions of the Shelbys.
"Stop being grumpy, it's lame," you laughed as you rubbed his shoulder. "We have business to agree upon."
"Easy for you to say, pet," he mumbled. "Didn't realize I would be holding a bomb to me chest tonight over business."
"Isn't that the only way to do business?" You frowned. "I even wore red to alert you. I thought you knew better."
"Fuckin' should've," he breathed. "Alright, now, let's get to it then."
----
As the song ended, you and Alfie had agreed on a preliminary run of a limited amount of his rum going in your next shipment to America. If the numbers and shipment went well, you would ramp up within a fortnight.
"May I have this dance?" Tommy appeared, his hand outstretched and pushing the two of you away from each other.
"I believe we have amenable terms for now," Alfie bowed his head as he kissed your hand, in much better spirits than when the dance began. "I will leave my favorite cutthroats to go forth and ruin someone else's night with their fuckery. I do believe I need to return home and wash the sin from my clothes before it stains."
"Goodnight, Alfie," you said warmly as he easily transferred you to Tommy's side. "Safe travels home."
"Goodnight," Tommy said, all edge of his voice gone as his attention was only on you, his mouth dipped to kiss your shoulder.
Alfie looked between you two and exhaled a soft laugh before he turned away, shaking his head.
"Are we going to dance before you leave me to Polly to be yelled at, or was that just a way to cut short my time with your ally?" You murmured as his hand tickled your back.
"I can dance," he said as he kissed your neck and swept you into his arms.
You giggled as his hot breath tickled your ear and he pulled you across the hall.
"So Polly is unhappy with me," you laughed as you pulled back to look him in the eye.
Tommy sighed.
"You threatened to make a scene, love," he said as his eyes softened. "With Alfie of all people."
"I think she's more upset about the half a glass of whiskey I had than dealing with Alfie," you said, earning a confused look from Tommy. "Alfie was only trying to make me uncomfortable."
"You didn't flinch a bit," Tommy toned.
"Oh! You're jealous," you gasped. "Did Alfie Solomons upset my dear husband, king Tommy?"
"No one's to touch my wife but me," he said, roughly tugging you to the other side of a pillar as he pressed you against it in the shadow.
He lifted your chin with his finger as his knee pressed between your legs and his other hand found its way into the slit of your dress and squeezed your ass.
"Will you take me right here, Mr. Politician," you taunted, grinding a little against his knee as his eyes caught flame. "Need to prove your claim that boldly? Not enough to dangle me in front of your colleagues?"
"You're bored of the parties," he said as his head tilted and his hand wrapped around your throat, holding you against the pillar. "You aren't made for the pleasantries of the light."
"I'd much rather us in the dark," you tipped your chin up, your hands roaming up his chest and neck to pull him close.
"I hear you," he panted as your foreheads touched. You teased, your breath on his lips as you kept just out of reach. "But tonight is about what's best for this family."
"I agree," you smirked. "Our little one deserves a good life."
Tommy's mouth slacked and his hand dropped from your throat as you chuckled.
"S'why Polly's upset," you whispered into his open mouth. "The whiskey. She called it last week. John was in the kitchen. Why do you think your little brother had grown so protective over me again?"
You smiled, taunting as he stood frozen.
"Did you fear he was trying to claim me again?" Your hand traced his jaw before you closed his mouth. "I'm yours, Tommy Shelby, just like this child is."
"Well, Mrs. Shelby," his voice was hoarse as he pushed the words out, shoveling them like gravel. He cleared his throat as he licked his lips. "Perhaps we should retire for the night."
"And leave your fundraiser?" You asked, your brows raised.
It was not like him not to be the last one in the ballroom, talking to every last person as if to stuff his pockets with every cent and favor he could. You bit your lip as you watched the gears turn behind his soft eyes. He had completely melted against you.
"My poor pregnant wife must be exhausted from the stress of the night," he said evenly, his hand tickling your thigh. "And what sort of man would I be if not to take care of her?"
"What sort, indeed," you smiled as you kissed him softly.

//
your point of view
you laughed, flipping off the cop cars that chased your car down as you sped through the road. dodging cars, maniacally giggling as adrenaline pulsated through your veins. your hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, speeding through the busy california traffic. good girl gone bad is what some may call it, but what you called it was purely living life to the fullest.
what you had done was quoted, “the funniest thing anyone could ever do”. out of all crimes you had committed throughout your years, this one by far was the worst one of all. you had thrown eggs at your annoying neighbours’ windows, spray painted over shops’ glass, drank underage and drove, but this one. oh boy.
you had not only vandalised a police officer’s car with sharpies, but you broke their walkman machine; which you still think was an accident - so not only were you going to get charged, you were about to be sentenced six months in jail. six months because of all the crimes you had committed. however, you were unbothered.
you were determined to escape them, only adding onto your thrill. but, your plans suddenly changed. the second you swerved left, a truck came at the fastest speed towards you. you tried to react as quickly as you could, even though it was completely pointless. the truck had already struck into your side of the car.
your car flipped, your head banged against the steering wheel, your vision went blurry. your heartbeat quickened, then weakened just as quickly. you shot yourself one last smirk before your eyes shut completely.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
you slowly opened your eyes, fluttering as you did so, then squinting almost immediately towards the brightest light you had ever encountered in your entire life. you sighed in relief, “thank god it was a dream.” you whispered to yourself, rubbing your eyes as you sat up slowly; groaning.
“are you sure about that?” a female voice called out soon after you spoke. your eyes widened, jumping back to the unknown old lady. you stammered, “i know what you’re thinking. ‘where am i’, am i correct?” you slowly nodded, your eyebrows heavily furrowed. “this my dear, is the afterlife.”
your mouth fell agape. “what..?”  she nodded in response, “d-did i really die?”
“unfortunately sweetheart.” she reached out a hand for you to grab, you shakily took your hand in hers as she rubbed your back gently.
“am i in heaven?” she was silent for a moment. your non-existent heartbeat wanted to fall to the pit of your stomach as to how quickly she fell quiet.
“i’m afraid not my dear.” she soothingly spoke to you.
“wh-what?” is all you could say. your tongue felt dry and numb, you wanted to collapse, but you couldn’t let yourself fall weak. i never hurt anyone, why do i deserve to go to hell? i’ve never let anyone get to harm. what have i done. thoughts consumed your whole body. “b-but i never hurt anyone..”
“i’m sorry, honey. fate decides these things. unfortunately you have to be a part of the underworld.” you wanted to fight back and argue, but she placed her hand over your forehead, causing your eyes to instantly close. “it’s time to go, my dear. bless you.” suddenly, you were falling. you screamed at the top of your lungs, tears glistening in the air as they floated then melted away.
you fell for a long time, before finally landing on a hard surface. you jumped from the harsh impact, crying out as you reached for your stomach, blood dripping from your mouth. you wiped your nose and mouth, your blood being the first thing that you see. you, being incredibly sensitive to the sight of blood, felt dizzy within seconds before you fainted.
-
your eyes opened for the second time, groaning out in pain. “well, well, well. look who’s awake.” you were startled by the deep voice who spoke up. your eyes darted towards the direction of the voice,
“stop, don’t scare her.” a short girl scolded the boy. your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“welcome to hell, y/n y/l/n.” the same deep voice guy spoke, smirking slightly.
“h-how do you know my name?”
“we know everything.” another man continued on,
“okay guys seriously stop, don’t scare her.” a brown haired girl huffed out. “sorry about them.” she apologised to you, giving the boys a glare.
“the big man is waiting for her, we should probably get going.” these strangers quietly spoke in front of you, as you weere not only freaked out, but were having a total anxiety attack in the middle of their small conversation. they all soon left the room, leaving you clueless and afraid.
soon enough, the doors opened roughly, slamming against the walls causing you to shriek from the impact. you squinted your eyes, trying to see the tall figure’s face. “good-morning princess.” you thought the other guy’s voice was deep? this man’s voice sent shivers down your spine, it was that deep. he slowly walked towards you, the sound of his shoes clinking against the floor was so loud. he turned his back to you, shutting the doors and locking it, the man and silence intimidating you.
you finally saw a glance at his face and, wow. ‘the big man’ as described came closer to you, crouching down and leaning his face towards you, making you flinch and turn away. “welcome to hell.” he smirked at you, his eyes gave off extremely evil intentions. what else did you expect, you were in hell. it’s not sunshine and rainbows, it’s eternal suffering and endless pain. “when someone is talking to you, you make eyecontact.” his rough tone made you flinch once more, his fingers aggressively bringing your chin up to meet his face.
you gulped, “s-sorry..” you whispered, your voice broke off in between the one word you spoke.
“anyways, like i was saying, welcome to hell. my territory.” goosebumps rose on your skin when he said, ‘my territory’. he couldn’t possibly be...
“are you..” a smirk slowly rose on his lips,
“the fallen angel?” he mocked the saying, “yes princess, i’m the devil, lucifer, whatever the fuck you want to call it, i don’t really care.” you furrowed your eyebrows to let that sink in.
first, you committed a crime, second, your car gets hit by a truck, third, you acutally died, fourth, you didn’t go to heaven, and lastly, the devil is sitting an inch away from you. what the fuck. you felt like fainting again. “woah..” you mumbled out, your eyes slightly rolling to the back of your head. his arm went to your side, forcing you to sit upwards.
“this is your third time fainting. can’t you just suck it up?” your hands reached to your head, your breath being shaky as tears stung your eyes.
“why am i here..” you spoke more to yourself than to him. he scoffed, rolling his eyes, rubbing his temples.
“you pathetic humans give me a headache.” he grumbled out, clenching his jaw. “fate, fate is why you’re here. believe me, if i wanted to drag you down here for no reason, i fucking would. no hesitation. but you’re too much of a baby for me to mess with. so i’d get bored too easily.” he stood up. “this is your room from now onwards. and don’t fucking complain about it either. you’re lucky that i didn’t throw you into a pit of dispair as soon as you got here.” he opened the doors, walking out, “enjoy your stay, forever.” his tone was more evil than you had ever heard. he slammed the doors shut, you could hear it lock from the outside.
why is this happening to me? why didn’t i just get thrown into an endless blackhole of suffering? isn’t the devil supposed to be this ugly, demonic looking creature? i’d rather die a second time than be here. the amount of questions you had was unbelievable. you fell back against the bed, why the fuck is there a bed in hell. another thought pondered your mind, covering your face with your hands as tears slowly slipped out.
“what is happening to me... please be a dream, please be a dream, please be a dream.” you hadn’t even realised that you had cried yourself to sleep.
A/N: i really hope you guys enjoyed part one! i’m so excited about this series, i have some really good ideas for this. also working on another series called ‘sweet and sour’ for a while now, let me know if you want me to upload those too! thank you for reading and leave any requests for some imagines if you like! part two is coming out soon! love you all <3

Catch Me If You Can - Nishinoya Yuu
Tumblr media
AU: Penpal / Travel
Warning: Manga Spoilers
Word Count: 7.6k+
Tumblr media
How could he not have fallen in love with (Y/N) back then? The foreign transfer student that regaled stories of her adventures around the world with swinging arm movements and an indistinguishable accent that had been muddled over years of travel. She was a sun among stars. A linguistic animal lover that had a passion for learning and adventure. No one could resist her charm, not for long. She was expressive, loud and boisterous. But when given the chance, the outgoing girl will always sit quietly and listen with a kind smile on her face. How could anyone not want to know her?
It was nearing the end of March in 2014 when they last saw each other. Despite it being the beginning of spring, the sun was shooting down warm golden rays of light that (Y/N) happily bathed in. Nishinoya sat next to the excitable girl, looking at the various pins she had stuck into her worn down and faded hat, tired after years of travelling and use. It was spunky, out there, it suited her quite well. In her hand, she fiddled with a keychain that he had just given her moments prior. A small enamel volleyball that he had a duplicate of.
“I’m going to travel the world,” she said, leaning back against the stairs of the gym.
The graduation ceremony was long. Despite that, the volleyball team had gathered in their gym to send off the 3rd years, announcing Yamaguchi as the new captain, and making everyone cry. The 1st years were the worst, only getting to spend one year with their beloved elders.
Nishinoya smiled, stretching his legs along the steps to lay down beside her. “Where are you going to go first?”
She hummed, “I think I’ll go to Australia, I want the accent back.”
Nishinoya laughed and watched as the traveller held up the chain to her nose.
“I want to meet as many people as I can, get some new experiences,” she sighed before shooting up from her spot, nearly launching herself on top of Nishinoya’s relaxed position. Her eyes seemed to be twinkling as they looked into his, “I’m going to write you letters.”
How could he say no to that smile?
Tumblr media
For three years they sent letters back and forth. Occasionally sending a care package, typically coming from (Y/N), who always seemed to have money to spare for the best quality of shipping. Nishinoya was always eager to open her letters. The words on the page would dance in his mind, creating beautiful images of the girl he remembered as she continued her travels. He would feel his heart squeeze with every package, carrying various treats and pictures for him to enjoy. Nishinoya always wanted to travel despite never having the funds to do so. Because of this, he lived vicariously through his long time crush’s adventures, holding every gift he received close to his heart.
He saved every last picture, letter, and gift. Yearning for when he would find the next one sitting snugly in the mailbox of his family home in Miyagi. 3 years since the day they graduated they had been exchanging letters, and 4 months since he last heard from his (Y/N), who had suddenly stopped. 4 months he waited.
Nishinoya waited desperately for her next reply, but it never came. Leaving him anxious for months as his family tried to calm him down. Nothing worked. Nishinoya spent most of his free time walled up in his room, ducked under the covers of his childhood bed, waiting.
It wasn’t until his grandfather, Mineo, knocked on his door that something happened.
It was the 2nd of July 2017 at 3:28pm.
“Eh, Yuu, there’s something in the mail for ya,” the old man teased, throwing a thumb over his shoulder.
Running out of his room, nearly knocking over his laughing elderly grandfather, the youngest Nishinoya ran out of his house, through the gates and to the mailbox. From the corner of his eye, he could see the mailman down the street. Inside the box was a neatly packaged envelope. He pulled it out gently, trying his best not to fold or mark the clean paper.
Once at the dinner table, family surrounding all sides, excitedly waiting for the boy to open the letter, Nishinoya let out a deep breath. His heart was pounding, gripping onto his ribcage like a prisoner wanting to escape. His hands shook, making the paper let out a desperate fluttering sound. He read the front of the paper.
The letter was sent from Australia. Particularly a city named Mutitjulu, which he didn’t bother to try and pronounce as even in his head, the English word seemed to only be a muffle of sounds. English wasn’t something he was good at anyway. He continued, staring at his name that was scripted on the front in a familiar style. One that he’s been reading for years.
“Well, what are you waiting for Yuu? Open it,” his mother pressured. She was excited too, tired of her son’s heaving and hawing over the past four months.
Taking in another wavering breath, Yuu opened the envelope gently and pulled out the crisp piece of paper. As he opened it, a wad of cash fell out, sprawling across the table his family sat at.
His grandfather laughed, “What is this? Some sort of ransom?”
“You’re not given money when you get a ransom note, let Yuu read the letter first,” His father chuckled as he watched his wife gather the money in a neat stack also grabbing the stiff paper ticket that had landed before her.
The first thing on the page was the date, followed by (Y/N)’s handwriting.
14 August 2014
Dear Yuu,
Australia feels like a home I wasn’t born into. It’s hot and my hair hate’s the humidity, but it’s a beautiful country. The accent makes it all worth it. While writing this, I sit at the bottom of one of Australia’s many sites, Uluru, a giant rock that would make you look like a worm in comparison. There are flies everywhere, and we’re painting stones in dotted patterns. I painted a lizard.
I’ve spent the last week in the outback with a group of born Australian’s working with Kangaroos. They are the funniest creatures, easily aggravated in the wild, but these ones have become used to humans over the years.
A man named Joshua has become my companion for the week. He’s taught me a lot, I can’t say it all in a singular letter, but here’s a funny story. One kangaroo, lovingly named Swipe, stole his hat on a particularly hot day, hiding it somewhere we never found. I had to give him my hat. When you see him, please, ask for it back, I miss it and will have more pins to add later.
Oh right, the money and the ticket. Well, I’m sorry for not telling you sooner, but I wanted it to be a surprise. By the time you get this letter, it should be about mid-summer of 2017. You know how you’ve always wanted to travel the world? Well, I’m picking out your stops. You won’t be able to contact me, that eliminates the fun out of it. But, that’s your mission.
Come and catch me~
Love,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Nishinoya had to give it to her, Kangaroos were soft. And even in the heat of the Australian winter, he desperately wanted to snuggle up to them and bury his head into their chests. He had jokingly told Joshua that he wanted to be a joey in his next life, to which the Australian born man laughed and slapped his back.
It seemed as though, despite (Y/N)’s appearance in Mutitjulu having been 3 years prior to his arrival, that she had planned out his whole trip. Getting Joshua to walk him through every landmark and location in Australia that she had visited on her solo trip.
He was a tall man, tanned to a golden ochre colour from his days working under the blistering sun, and you could tell he did hard physical labour from his well built physique. Nishinoya would stare at him occasionally, mostly jealous of his overwhelming height.
The two men were visiting the Sydney Zoo, watching a gigantic alligator eat a whole chicken when Nishinoya asked the older man a question in broken English. He still needed practice.
“Did you help plan everything?” he asked referring to his tour around the continent.
The Aussie shook his head, making his messed up sandy coloured hair bounce. Turning away from the reptilian show, the tanned man looked at Nishinoya with a large smile.
“She did it all herself. Every last detail. You wouldn’t believe it when she told me her plan, she was going to burst!”
Leaving their suitcases at various hotels over the 3 month period and grabbing the bare minimum so they could trek through the day felt new to Nishinoya. He had spent his whole life in one location, only ever needing to carry around a bag or two wherever he went. Joshua carried around a leather satchel everywhere. At every location they stopped at he would reach into it and pull out a photo that (Y/N) had taken while there, handing over to Nishinoya.
“Keep it, I’ve made copies,” he said when Nishinoya tried to give them back.
Noya bought a photo album after that, carefully storing the photos in the slots that were available. He would flip through the pages until late when the birds started singing. The late nights staring at your photos led to beautiful dreams of hiking through forests and petting koalas together, holding hands and watching the sunset. He wanted that. Minus the gigantic spiders.
It was at the end of September when Joshua barged into Nishinoya’s room early in the morning and threw something at him.
“Oi! Get up, get packed. You got more than just a plane to catch.”
Noya, still tired from a long night of drinking — likely being Joshua’s way of sending him off — groggily grabbed at whatever had been bounced off his head. He rubbed his eyes, waiting for them to adjust to the light that Joshua had so graciously invited in beyond the curtains.
Groaning, Yuu turned his attention away from the bright sun and onto what laid in his hand. A familiar hat, worn out and covered with pins, it’s original colour faded into a dull grey. Next to it, a letter. His spine shot into a straight position as his fingers gently separated the lip of the envelope from its body as quickly as possible. Just like the one before, money, plane ticket and a letter. A noise in the corner of the room caught his attention, Joshua was stuffing Noya’s clothes haphazardly into his suitcases, throwing a change of clothes to the side for him to wear.
“Get changed Cobber, we got to go!”
Joshua steered the tourist onto his plane, not letting Noya take a detailed look at the ticket. At the gate to the airport, Nishinoya was pulled into a strong hug by the Aussie, who rambled into the shorter man’s ear about how he would miss his foreign wisdom and poorly constructed sentences (which had improved over the months).
Before he knew it, Nishinoya was on a plane, reading the note you had sent back for him.
21 February 2015
Dear Yuu,
You like dogs, right? Well, I sure hope you do. I’ve spent the last few weeks in Yukon, Canada (specifically Whitehorse) and HOLY! It is freezing up here in the wintertime. Luckily the group I’ve been working with provides the proper gear you need but still, it’s frigid. So be ready for that. Margaret will help you out. That’s not actually her name, but she says her real name is too hard for us to pronounce.
Anyway, dog sledding. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried it. It’s such a freeing feeling. Oh, and I might have given one of them the keychain you gave me. I’m sorry, but he was so sweet and I wanted to give him something of mine. His name is Mateus. Be sure to give him pets for me!
Make sure to spend that money well~
Love you,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Although October wasn’t technically winter, the northern hemisphere was cold, too cold. Bundled up in thick layers, covered from head to toe, Nishinoya laid back in the tall snow, rubbing the bellies of eager huskies that rolled around next to him. Yuu laughed and one jumped at him, pushing his shoulder back into the snow and licking any visible skin he could reach.
“Ya! Mateus, please!” The dog backed off, sitting in the man’s lap, panting happily.
Nishinoya sat up, petting the friendly dog’s head with his thick glove. His other hand moved the collar so he could admire the given jewelry. The metal had oxidized, making it look brown and blue. The volleyball has definitely looked better but Nishinoya wouldn’t complain. The dog whimpered at his new human friend as he played with the chain.
Noya looked the husky in the eyes, “Awe, I miss her too bud.”
The dog whined again and pushed his head up against Noya’s hand. He obliged to the canines request, rubbing the space behind his ears. The dog lolled his head to the side, then let his body completely fall over Noya’s lap. The other’s came closer, joining the lazy dog puddle that made itself home around their new companion.
“If you keep letting them do that they’ll never let you leave.”
Margaret was a kind woman, older and a bit worn after years of working. She was ruff around the edges but as soon as she got a good look at Noya’s photo album (which now also held (Y/N)’s letters) she swept the young man into a bone-crushing hug, telling him about the memories she had from years prior. Noya listened to every story earnestly.
“She’s a natural,” she said. “Hopped onto the sled, grabbed the reins and off she went! Over the hills through the trees and the wolves listened to her every command.”
Margaret’s movements were a shadow of the girl he remembered. Large and unapologetic. He took a sip from his hot chocolate as he watched the woman’s arms wing in fluid motions. The fire that was lit next to them cast a shadow behind her, like a puppet. Other volunteers around the lodge watched in awe as she continued telling her of (Y/N). Just how did she manage to make everyone fall in love with her, would there be any room in her heart for him? Everywhere she went she seemed to take someone with her and Yuu couldn’t help but think he’d be left out. It nagged at him.
On the last day of his stay in Whitehorse, Margaret sat down next to Nishinoya and handed him a neatly wrapped pile.
“You know, I sometimes wondered why (Y/N) asked me to make duplicates of her photos. But after spending these past couple of months with you, I can understand it. You’ve got yourself a keeper.”
At the bottom of the pile of photos was the letter, sent back to Margaret from his next location. The woman patted his shoulder.
“You better pack up soon, I’ll drive you to the airport.”
3 September 2015
Dear Yuu,
I know the cold must have been ruff. Haha, get it? Ruff? Well, don’t worry, cause where you’re going next it’s all summer and sun (with the occasional thunderstorm but a little rain never hurt anybody).
The Florida keys are hot. I’ve been spending a lot of time either at the beach or indoors where it’s airconditioned, but It’s been a lot of fun relaxing in the sun here. I found a restaurant, tucked in behind the white fences of a narrow road just by the waterfront. It has a large sign saying “CASTAWAY” I think it’s fitting with the whole nautical theme. It has high ceilings and gives off a wood cabin by the lake sort of feel. All the workers are nice, I’m writing this while talking with them.
I recommend the honeybuns!
Love,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
The honey buns were delicious. They weren’t even something you had to order, but Nishinoya did anyway, every single time. Joe, the owner, along with his wife busted the bar table that Nishinoya sat at. He was the only one in there at the moment flipping through his photo album, adjusting all the photos in place, making them look orderly. Without looking, he reached for one of the many bread buns that sat in the woven basket next to him.
“You know Noya, there’s more food other than the honey buns,” Joe chuckled as he snatched the bun filled basket out of the grasp of Noya’s clingy hands, making said boy pout. Joe laughed again before slipping a laminated piece of paper his way, “Read the menu kid, you might find something worthwhile.”
Joe, despite his outward appearance being that of a beer drinking food lover (which he was), was an avid deep sea diver. Often going with Miranda to collect underwater treasures that could be used as decor for their restaurant.
Nishinoya nodded, thanking the kind man as he began to read. The words gave him a bit of a headache. English, definitely something he’s improved on since beginning his journey but still makes him run circles in his head. He rested his chin on the counter, squinting, hoping the change in sight would magically turn the English into Japanese. It did not, and after 5 minutes of continuous grumbling, Miranda came his way.
“Noya, sweetheart, take a look at the drinks would ya?” she laughed, towel and plate in one hand, flicking the back of the page with a long spindly finger from the other.
He flipped the page over.
The (Y/N) Special
“What is this?” he asked pointing to the only spot on the page that had kanji characters mixed in with the English alphabet.
Miranda smiled, leaning her elbows onto the counter. Flicking a chummy finger toward the page she explained, “That right there, is a drink (Y/N) made up on one of the nights she was here. She jumped over the counter and made us all one, then gave us the recipe for later.”
Joe came their way with a cheeky smile, “Give it a go. It’s got a bit of alcohol in it but not a lot, fine for a midday drink.”
Yuu gladly took the drink created and named after his beloved adventurer and gave it a big gulp. It was cold and sweet with a bit of lemon, perfect for the everlasting hot weather in Florida. He could imagine lounging at the beach or by a pool with (Y/N) sleeping peacefully by his side as he drank this, both of them soaking in the sun’s warmth. Noya sighed happily, resting his head in the palm of his hand.
“Hang in there kid. I don’t think there’s that much alcohol,” Joe teased as he flicked Nishinoya’s forehead. “Don’t go dozing off just yet, we’ve got your next letter.”
Noya didn’t even realize that Miranda had left, only just seeing her as she came back out from the restaurant’s back with a box in hand.
The pictures were of her in various places, just like all the others. Now mostly at the beach or at his current location. He didn’t hold himself back from admiring the images of your summer glow as you posed happily for the camera in your bathing suit. One image of your face stuffed with honey buns make him cackle outright. At the bottom of the box was a small corral and your note.
18 June 2016
Dear Yuu,
Oh YUU~ please don’t be mad at me! I know you probably wanted to see me first out of all our friends but I couldn’t help myself. Brazil was already on my list and where else would I go besides Rio de Janeiro?
Hinata has grown so much since high school, you’ve got to see him play. You should be proud of your Kohai, he’s gotten pretty amazing~ His roommate, Pedro, was really nice too he likes OnePiece and Spiral Knights. Reminds me of Kenma a bit. They were both kind enough to accommodate me for my stay. Oh, Oikawa showed up too.
Be sure to give Hinata a hug for me~
Love (Oh so very much),
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Had they still been in high school, Hinata would’ve probably blabbered about everything upon Nishinoya’s arrival. But, as you had said, Hinata had grown and thus, he learned some restraint. Managing to respect the wishes of his travelling upperclassman who insisted that he kept a tight lip about everything until Noya had begun his travels in Rio.
Noya, on the other hand, was rather discouraged that his past teammate had gotten to spend months with his girl. His girl? His girl. He grumbled, crossing his arms with a haughty huff.
Nishinoya had arrived in Rio in February of 2018, getting the chance to hear all of Hinata’s stories from the beginning of his appearance in the hot city. Heitor, Hinata’s teammate for a tournament they played a couple of months prior, listened carefully to Hinata’s ramblings as he switched back and forth between languages, translating as much as he could. Nishinoya also often found himself admiring Heitor’s coiling hair. A complete opposite texture from his own. (Y/N)’s appearance seemed to be news to Brazilian man as well, but both listened with rapt attention as the carrot head rambled.
Noya got really pouty when his friend showed him the pictures though, mostly fixating on the one that had Oikawa, Hinata, and (Y/N) all making strange faces at the camera.
“Shoyo, must you torture me like this?”
Hinata only responded with a large smile and wiggling dance.
Heitor and Pedro had become Nishinoya’s closest companions after Hinata left for Japan. Nice, Heitor’s newlywed wife, reminded him of Saeko, making her his go-to whenever he needed to rant to someone. She never understood a word he said, but would always give him a pat on the back and a warm smile. Luckily, Pedro had managed to pick up some Japanese during his time living with Hinata, making the learning curve of figuring out Portuguese a little easier.
At the near 3 month mark of his stay in Rio, Pedro came out of his room with a box that had Nishinoya’s name printed across it. “It. Yours,” he tried to say with heavily accented Japanese, which the streaked blonde man was thankful for.
The name across the top had obviously been done by Hinata, the messy script made it that evident, not that Noya could easily read it anyways. Just like the others, the box held a few remaining photos that Hinata didn’t give him during their time together and her letter. The envelope had a small crease in the top corner, likely from Hinata’s rough handling, but he was eager to read it despite its mediocre condition.
Pedro sat down next to Nishinoya, taking hold of the photo album, and offered to put them in order. Before he did though, he took his time flipping through the pages, listening to Nishinoya as he tried to explain what was happening in each photograph. Pedro smiled.
“I spoke to her quite often, she learned Portuguese rather quickly, I was surprised,” he paused for a moment, watching the memory that played in his mind from the photo he had taken of you and Hinata playing volleyball on the beach. “She is quite an amazing person.”
Despite not being able to fully understand what Pedro had said, Nishinoya could hear his feelings.
Why did she have to be so magnetic that even a near stranger felt her gravitational pull?
With an almost sad sigh, he gave Pedro a nudge and began to read the letter. It was filled with glitter. That was new.
 31 December 2016
Dear Yuu,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I might be a bit tipsy but that’s okay! I’ll write this anyway.
New years in France is filled with alcohol. I shouldn’t be surprised but the wine is surprisingly sweet? And you know me, I can’t restrain myself when it comes to sweets.
Paris is beautiful by the way. I can’t wait for you to see it. Danon has been an amazing tour guild. He even gives me a discount on the coffee from his family’s café. Despite being in the more expensive part of town the café is rather quaint. When his parents are out Donon lets me choose the music, it’s typically 70’s dance and pop music, like ABBA. Who am I kidding, It’s mostly ABBA. Sometimes other customers join me in dancing, Danon can’t because he works but I see him grooving behind the counter. I think I made it a tradition.
Ooh, I also made another friend, her name’s Brielle, she's just lovely.
It’s beautiful here Yuu~
Love you loads.
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Was Nishinoya jealous when he met Danon? HELL YES HE WAS. The man was their age, and undeniably handsome, clean quaffed brown hair and perfect skin. Nishinoya spent his first few days in Paris giving the other man the side-eye.
That’s how it was, until one Friday evening, when Nishinoya walked into the café he was stopped frozen at the door.
“Ah Noya, my friend! Come join us!” Danon called over the music once he saw the shorter man enter.
In the Frenchman’s arms twirled a beautiful young woman with dark skin and braided hair that swung at the middle of her back. ABBA was playing, Noya noticed as he entered, weaving through the dancing couples of men and women alike. Danon and the woman met him halfway, and Danon, being the gentleman he is, bowed slightly as he gestured to her.
“This is Brielle. I’m sure (Y/N) must have mentioned her in her letter.”
Brielle laughed, waving her hand dismissively, “The two of us only got a moment together, a week at most. But she did talk about you Nishinoya. It's a pleasure to meet you.”
They spoke in English, with French accents, but Noya was thankful for the familiarity, although it did make him notice his own mangled accent even more.
“So what’s happening here?”
Danon laughed, “It’s (Y/N)’s night! What else?!”
The day slowly turned to night and the Eiffel tower began to glow outside the window. Nishinoya tried his best to dance in the sensual duets that took place in the middle of the floor, but more often than not, he went behind the counter, taking Danon’s parent’s place and giving them a chance to take centre stage. Out of the pairs, his parents were the most infectious. But anyone could look Danon’s way and see that he and Brielle were a match made for the night lights of Paris.
Towards the end of May, Nishinoya sat at one of the tables next to the chalk wall, sipping slowly at his tea. Danon came out from the back, giving his mother a rub on the shoulder before sitting across from the Japanese tourist. He placed a clean stack of images on the table between them. Before pointing to the chalk wall with a melancholic smile.
“She wrote you a message up there, ‘see you soon’, she said that a lot about you,” the taller man slid over the stack.
Noya slowly flipped through the photos, pausing at one that captured a moment of Danon holding (Y/N) in his arms as they danced, being perfectly framed by the Eiffel tower behind them. Noya gripped the photo a little tighter. His heart clawed at his insides again. That nagging feeling was back, making the palms of his hands feel sore and warm. Danon’s voice pulled him out of it easily, the man was a siren.
“She is a remarkable woman. If I had the same opportunity that you have right now,” he trailed off, pausing to take a breath, “I would follow her off the edge of the world if she asked me,” Danon took the photo out of Noya’s hands, giving it a fleeting look before tucking it into the album that rested open on the table.
Gulping, Noya met the man’s eyes across the table.
“Aren’t you with Brielle?”
Danon smiled, “I am. (Y/N) introduced us. Brielle knows of my infatuation but trusts me and I can’t thank her more for it.”
“You two are beautiful together,” Noya said, looking up at your name on the wall. He took another long, slow sip of his tea.
“As will the both of you. If you manage to catch her that is.” Danon spoke softly, joining his new friend in staring at their crush’s smooth writing on the wall. “Can you do me a favour, Noya?”
Nishinoya hummed, continuing to look up.
“Love her for the both of us, okay?”
 8 May 2017
Dear Yuu,
A kind old man was nice enough to let me spend most of my time with him and his dog at their home in Hamburg, Germany. He’s a potato farmer! But sadly he injured his back working, what a spine breaker. Anyway, I offered my help farming in exchange for a warm bed and food. He was happy to help! Oh right, his name is Adal. He’s a bit of a grouch but I know he’s secretly a softy.
I managed to get to a few places around Germany before settling down there for the rest of the trip though. My favourite by far is the torn down Berlin wall. It’s covered in graffiti and art and it’s just filled with so much history. It’s overwhelming but seeing the broken wall is just such a beautiful sight. I don’t even think I can put it into words.
Don’t let Adal be too mean to you~
Love,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Nishinoya knew what you meant by the wall being overwhelming. It felt like he had the memories of generations pushing down on his shoulders all while a swell of happiness and relief seemed to lift his chest upwards. It was a sight to behold.
Adelina was a kind but blunt woman in her 40’s. Their initial interaction was a shocking one that left a bitter taste in both of their mouths. Noya, a stranger that had shown up at Adal’s doorstep that was in the middle of vast farmland was greeted with a less than welcoming hello.
“Is Adal here?”
In broken English, Adelina responded, “Adal is dead. What do you want?”
After explaining his now new predicament to the resilient woman, she had broken into a gasp eyes wide as she rushed up the stairs of the house. She nearly tripped coming back down, holding a box that was covered in dust and set it down on the wood table in the middle of the large room visible from the door.
She had sighed while she blew off the dirt, “You must be Nishinoya, correct?”
Taking his shoes off at the door, he entered the premises. Adelina had gestured for him to take a seat in the chair across from her and the box. Nishinoya was understandably nervous at the time, desperately wanting to bite his nail or crack his cold knuckles, but he resisted.
“Adal was my father, he died last year and left everything to me,” she started. “I only met (Y/N) once but she was a kind woman from what I remember. Managed to break that old man’s shell. Not many can do that,” she laughed, tucking a greying piece of hair behind her ear.
Nishinoya listened to every word patiently. Adelina wasn’t a great storyteller, she often had to cycle back, remembering events that would have been told earlier on, and sounded rather monotone as she recounted them. For what it was worth though, once she got on the right track, she seemed to be able to recall every detail word for word despite the stories not having been from her own experiences.
“I know the plan was for you to work in the field, but I sold off the farmland not too long after he died,” she said, placing a glass of water for him on the table. “If I had thought a little further ahead, I probably would have waited until after your visit,” she scoffed sadly at herself. “I guess my mind was a bit preoccupied.”
“No, no. It’s alright. I’m the one showing up unannounced. You probably didn’t even remember the plan until I showed up.”
That night, Adeline offered to take Nishinoya on a grand tour through Germany.
“I should at least fulfill some duty that I was given, he would want me to,” she said, giving him a rare smile. “Diese Dinge passieren, und das Leben geht weiter.”
Despite having given him most of the pictures in the box on the first night, the letter remained untouched until after spending three months in the woman’s care. At the airport, Adeline thanked Noya for visiting and wished him well.
“Chase your dreams,” she said, sending him off with a final wave.
 1 September 2017
Dear Yuu,
Somehow a little town at Italy’s ankle has made me believe that gods exist on earth. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but these architects did an amazing job. The buildings are all colourful and beautiful to admire. Especially during the sunset. The whole town is cast with a warm glow.
I’ve been staying in Sorrento, (imagine if I was writing this from Torino! Haha). A small town by the bay known for its beautiful view of the water and 14th-Century architecture, very picturesque. I spend most of my time down by the bay, I’ve gone so often that I’ve even made friends with some of the fishermen. They even offered to take me spearfishing out in the bay. Their boats are beautiful but on windy days I definitely prefer the land.
Don’t let the marlins get to close, they’ll stab you~
Love you,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
“Eh, Noya! You did great! Let me take a photo for you.”
Donte was a middle-aged man that owned a boat by the pier. Often spending his weekends fishing for marlins to feed his family the following week. His hair was dark brown and mousy, slowly fading to grey at the sides of his hairline that trailed down his jaw into a patchy scruff of a beard that never seemed to grow. Quickly, the ageing man grabbed Noya’s phone off one of the seats in his large fishing boat and angled it to face the other man.
“Say: sorridi!” he cheered.
Noya dropped his borrowed trident like a spear on the tiled concrete and kicked up his left leg onto the large metal cleat at his side and balanced the weight of the large marlin between his arms. The fish’s mouth hung open, but Noya smiled into the camera of his phone, yelling out ‘sorridi’ as the photo was taken.
“Ah good. C’mon, I’ll treat you to lunch.”
It was during lunch when Donte began to entertain Nishinoya with some stories of (Y/N)’s visit. The big one was how we decided on the name of his boat. He explained that at the time, his ship was brand new when she visited, with (Y/N) being the first to book a time to experience marlin fishing on the new vessel. At the time the name hadn’t been printed on the side, and when Donte had mistakenly tripped over a loose line it sent him into the cold water of the bay. Despite being able to swim, the visiting woman had immediately pulled out the rope ladder tying to the side of the ship and dived him.
Donte laughed as he recalled floating in the water with (Y/N) staring at him with an irritated expression. “I can swim you know?” he said, making her grumble and paddle to the ladder she had set up moments prior.
“The water is nice, but you better get out soon,” she had teased. “Don’t want the marlins to attack.”
“Thought that ‘the Mad Mer’ was fitting. She did look like a goddess while swimming after all.”
The description made Noya smile happily.
Donte was starting his next story when Nishinoya felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.
Asahi had sent him a message.
We’re all meeting up today.
Are you coming?
A cheeky grin pulled on the corner of Noya’s face. Swiping his phone across his screen and clicking, without sending a word to his friend the image was sent.
Woah, Noya!
Are you still following those letters?
Nishinoya chuckled.
You bet!
Donte nodded his head in Noya’s direction and took a large gulp of water and a bit of food from his plate. “Who you talking to?”
“Ah, an old friend. Sent him the picture of the marlin.”
On his final day, after packing up all his clothes, Nishinoya flipped through the new photos he collected. His favourite had been taken on the same day that she had dived into the water to help Donte. It was of (Y/N) in a flowing white dress, arms spread wide open, with the sun setting in the background making her dress glow. This photo closed out the passage of Sorrento, Italy.
 30 March 2018
Dear Yuu,
Hazyview is quite the sight. It’s full of green trees and large expanses of grass. Rolling hills turn into mountains with sharp cliffs and rounded tops. It’s a sight you’ve never seen before.
I got to travel around a bit before settling in Hazyview so I could learn about all the languages they speak. It’s so interesting! I swear some of the people I met probably thought I was some foreign nut job, but I had fun
Working at a sanctuary for elephants is such a rewarding experience. I wish I could have stayed a bit longer to help. Luckily they primarily used English to communicate because of all the immigrating volunteers they get, but even the diverse collection of language there was amazing. But that’s not the point. Elephants. Elephants are the point.
We managed to save a baby and his mother from poachers! The little guy was rather clingy, and I got to name him!
Work your hardest~
Love,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
Nishinoya was relieved when he was able to practice his English again with fluent English speakers at the sanctuary. Nearly two years of practice has shown some improvement.
Jabulani was the man that greeted him when the helicopter landed at the sanctuary. His arms were wide open and his smile was big, showing off his pearly white teeth.
“Welcome!” he yelled over the sound of the helicopter’s blades spinning.
It took a couple of days for Nishinoya to get the chance to interact with the large beasts. That time was spent settling in, getting a tour, and learning about the protocol that was held in high regard at the sanctuary (for good reason).
When Jabulani, nicknamed Jabu, introduced Noya to the various elephants that were being rehabilitated he was brought to a pause at one.
“His name is Shino?”
“Ah yes. You’re (Y/N)’s friend. I almost forgot. She talked about you a lot.”
Noya made a large gesture with his arms, throwing them in the warm air. Then he adjusted the old button filled hat on his head to block the sun.
“When (Y/N) said she named a baby Elephant I thought I was going to be small! She named it after me, and he’s that big?!”
Jabu laughed at Noya’s pain. Giving a hard smack on the back. Earning a groan from the slightly saddened man.
“Don’t look at it like that. Think of it this way,” He said as he grabbed Noya’s shoulder, straightening his back. He gestured to the elephant’s trunk that started sprinkling water over its head. “She must think highly of you. Think you can reach great heights like the trunk of an elephant.”
“That height is mediocre when giraffes exist.”
The throwaway comment earned Noya another hard smack.
“Don’t say that around the elephants. They’re sensitive creatures.”
Occasionally, at night when everyone was lounging around the common area, eating food and relaxing, Nishinoya got the chance to listen to Juba and his friends speak in their native tongue. Zulu was something he had never heard prior to coming here, and as he listened to them converse fluidly without tripping over any syllable or sound he couldn’t help but realize why you appreciated the complexities of language so much.
The last letter was short, and when he opened it a picture slipped out. You wore Karasuno’s classic colour; black. You were in a waving salute, your two fingers in the motion of pointing away from your forehead. The back of the black tracksuit was visible thanks to your slightly turned position. You stood on the steps of the volleyball gym, the doors were open. The letter was sent back to Hazyview recently.
 9 April 2019
Dear Yuu,
What do you think? The newest job suits me, huh? I managed to race through school while I waited. World Cultures, I’m excited.
See you on the first day of school~
Love,
(Y/N)
Tumblr media
April 20th of 2019 was the first day of school. Nishinoya had flown in from Hazyview the night before, greeted by his parents who pestered him about all of his adventures on the way home. Still wide awake with jitters of excitement, Noya rambled about every moment and story, flipping through his nearly complete photo album.
He was wide awake until he wasn’t. Despite his eagerness to wake up early to the following day and hopefully ambush you in the morning before classes started, he managed to sleep through most of the day. When he finally did wake up he was groggy from the jet lag but forced himself to change into something more presentable than plane clothes. Be grabbed your old hat, oxidized keychain and his photo album before rushing out.
Once he got to the front gates he breathed in deeply. It had been years, and the nagging feeling had returned to his chest. Students gave him weird looks as they left the school grounds.
How could he not have fallen in love with you back then? But how could he be so naive to believe he was the only one? He thought of Danon in that moment, letting the words replay in his head. Over and over again. For the both of us.
Taking one last breath, he ran towards the old gym he remembered. The doors were slightly ajar and the welcoming sound of air-filled balls bouncing off the wooden gym floor made his heart race. He screamed as he kicked the doors wide open.
“(Y/N)!”
A high pitch screech followed.
“Noya? What the hell are you doing here?”
Despite the change in hair, now back to his natural black, Ukai hadn’t changed a bit. The squealer, Takeda, held his chest tightly as he stood straight, recovering from the sudden scare. The players on the gym floor began to murmur, they’d ask their coaches questions later.
“Sorry, Takeda, Ukai. Do you know where (Y/N) is?” Noya asked, gripping his belongings tightly. “I thought she was going to be in here.”
Takeda let out a shaky laugh, “You haven’t changed a bit, Noya. But did you maybe consider she’d be in the girl’s gym?”
Ukai sent Takeda a confused look, to which the bespectacled man waved off as if saying ‘I’ll explain later.’
Nishinoya began bouncing on his toes, ready to move. Wearing a smile, he yelled a loud ‘thanks!’ as he bowed, before running out the double doors.
The girl’s gym, though not one he visited in his past often except for those moments he went to see (Y/N), brought a familiar feeling. The sound of balls ricocheting off of solid surfaces greeted him as he stood outside the double doors, waiting, scared.
Then he heard your voice, heavily accented but pronouncing every word with a sense of style with accuracy. Soothing and sharp with a bit of a raspy bite from years of hysterical laughter and yelling.
“Tiny Hinata! Natsu, can you do me a favour real quick?”
Slowly, he pushed the doors open.
Nishinoya didn’t even see the young orange-haired girl lift the old polaroid camera to her face. He was too busy enjoying the old familiar feeling of his girl’s hands holding his back, hardly even hearing the smack of objects fall from his hands and onto the floor. He melted. Noses brushed against each other as she pulled him into a kiss that was worth the years of patient pining. He let out a breathless laugh when she pulled away, letting his head fall back for a moment as she used her hands to lift him back into an upright position. His hand came to rest on her shoulders, massaging them gently to fully know that she was there.
That nagging feeling finally crawled away, chased out by an eruption of warmth in his stomach.
“I finally caught you, (Y/N),” he said, wearing a dopey grin.
“Took you long enough,” she teased, hitting his arm.
Picking up his belongings that he had dropped suddenly, he held the brim of her old hat between his fingers and slipped it onto her head. Back where it belonged.
The photo was a pretty one, fitting perfectly into the last page of his album.

So this onshot comes from a prompt in my writers notebook that I’ve been wanting to write for over a year. And when talking to one of my firends we got really into multiple different idea’s and then dragged Kiwi into it. So this one is sort of collaborated.
I hope you liked it! it’s the longest thing I’ve written so far and it’s about the length of a regular two or three parted story. - Bacon

some recs for my podcast mutuals who are burnt out on horror & sad plot stuff
aka I’ve been seeing a few flavors of people exhausted by several of the most popular podcasts around here being pretty dark right now & I have attempted to put together a tasting menu of some stuff I think might help alleviate that burnout (& which also deserves some more love)
1. I'm okay with stuff that’s still on the dark or macabre side, I'd just like something that isn’t 100% characters I care about suffering horribly all the time, maybe some laughs in there
The Beef and Dairy Network: Like a seriously disturbing body horror podcast, except British satirical comedy! About cows! You kind of have to listen to it to get what’s going on tbqh it’s nearly impossible to explain but if you like horror and are just tired of being depressed about it maybe try this one. NOT for the easily nauseated.
Wooden Overcoats: black comedy sitcom about two rival funeral homes on a small island, one run by The Most Perfect Man On Earth (tm) and the other run by two misanthropic twins with a knack for disaster (and their hypercompetent assistant (and a mouse who wants to be an author)). this one is about watching the protagonist suffer horribly all the time but like, this time it’s usually a lot funnier and honestly he deserves it
Death by Dying: (so far very short) dark comedy about the resident obituary writer of idyllic Crestfall, Idaho, who sets out to tell the stories of how the town’s residents died and ends up uncovering a lot of other things, like conspiracies, and man-eating cats, and a poet’s vanishing childhood home, and what his friend the Angel of Death isn’t telling him about what’s in the dark woods. has very strong ASOUE or Pushing Daisies vibes, that sort of dark whimsy and really distinct narrative voice
Arden: “true crime” comedy-ish mystery podcast feat. two of the best bickering hosts anywhere and a whole third host called homoerotic tension, trying to solve a decade-old Hollywood mystery. secretly a shakespeare adaptation. one of the hosts is michelle agresti. an airline run by killer robots is involved, somehow. it’s a perfect storm
2. I’m good with some plot and higher stakes, but I need something more kind and hopeful right now:
Middle:Below: 10-minute episodes about a man who travels between the worlds of the living and the dead to solve the problems of restless ghosts, and the three friends he does it with -- a ghost, a cat, and a writer. their tagline is “remember: bad things will happen.” this is basically a lie, this show is extremely sweet
Alba Salix: high fantasy medical workplace comedy about hospital staff in a fairytale-ish kingdom, namely one grouchy witch, one distracted fairy, and one extremely disgruntled teenager sentenced to community service. also comes with the miniseries The Axe And Crown, which is about a gay troll bartender, his clueless landlord, and his bombastic niece, and also is one of the most heartfelt touching pieces of audio fiction I’ve ever heard?
Dark Ages: also a high fantasy workplace comedy, but in this one the dysfunctional cast work at a magical natural history museum, which thanks to recent events is now hosting the mythical Dark Lord on top of all the usual problems caused by their complete incompetency.
Solutions to Problems: a sci-fi relationship advice show feat. human host Janet and alien host Loaf. also feat. banter, illegal time travel, what to do when the AI that controls the air you breathe is your on-again-off-again girlfriend, and how to avoid your many spouses when they insist you need to come back to the homeworld and spend some time with your spawn.
Victoriocity: steampunk buddy-comedy mystery show, in which misanthropic detective Archibald Fleet (aka Tom Crowley but he’s grouchy this time) and intrepid newbie journalist Clara Entwhistle (aka an absolute ray of sunshine) uncover some Secret Plots within the government of a very different victorian london. if you like the “opposing personalities come to care deeply about one another as friends” trope this one is for you
Inn Between: not an actual play, but a show about the developing relationships of a party of RPG-esque adventurers as they rest at the inn between campaigns. you don’t see the adventures, just the crew growing closer and learning about one another in their moments of peace.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: sci-fi adventure about a stranded biologist and a ragtag crew of smugglers who set out to resist an authoritarian government, solve a mystery, and prevent a second human-alien war. as far as I can tell their plan for accomplishing this is to be as funny, gay, and adorable as possible, and to dismantle oppressive systems via the power of found family tropes. also via the power of linguistics.
3. just give me the fluffiest, funniest, sweetest, most relaxed, lowest-stakes thing you have:
Everything is Alive: meditative, deeply touching show where Guy From Public Radio holds interviews with inanimate objects. the interviews are super genuine and beautiful and I think they’re improvised, or at least they sound very natural? for people who want to be profoundly moved by a can of generic brand cola (you may not know but you are one of those people)
Standard Docking Procedure: a self-described “hopepunk” scifi sitcom about a group of employees on a space station, dealing with the little daily misadventures of difficult tourists, traffic control disasters, nonexistent love lives, and each other. Has an explicitly stated purpose of staying happy, lighthearted, and comforting.
Love and Luck: tied for absolute most heartwarming audio drama in existence. the story of the relationship between two Australian men, told through voicemail messages, as they fall in love, start a cafe, build a supportive and loving local queer community of close-knit friends and chosen family who help one another through thick and thin, and also find out that they can do magic apparently (IMPORTANT NOTE: there are some darker events and themes tackled in the plot starting around the latter half of the first season, but the focus of the story itself is always on how people support and help one another through trauma and difficulty, and the explicitly stated core premise of the show is that every character will have a happy ending and be okay.)
Quid Pro Euro: Look Around You-esque satire of old 80s and 90s instructional tapes where Felix Trench tells you what the European Union will look like in the far-off year of 2000. I don’t know anything about the European Union but I cackle like a witch when I listen to this
The Cryptonaturalist: I know you’ve seen his tweets. well it’s that but a podcast. just a man with an extremely nice voice talking about fantastical creatures like salamanders that swim through parking lot asphalt or foxes that roam the shelves of libraries at night. in between he reads poetry and generally talks about nature in the most beautiful way you could imagine. this show feels like a peaceful walk in the woods.
The Hidden Almanac: a podcast made 90% out of gentle fantasy worldbuilding, as a somewhat grumpy man in a plague doctor mask tells you about the history of his world and distributes gardening advice. has an immense archive of four-minute long episodes. it’s best to listen in order, because there is continuity, and be aware that about the first year or so has dropped off most feeds. written and performed by much-loved fantasy writer and artist Ursula Vernon and her husband Kevin.
Startripper!!: the other forerunner for most heartwarming audio drama in existence. seriously, you cannot imagine how much joy Startripper!! will bring into your life. it’s just the travelogue of one little alien with a heart full of enthusiasm and love setting out to see the universe and making friends along the way with just about everyone he meets, including his extremely loveable spaceship AI. I really mean it. listen to this show if you listen to nothing else.
Cabin Pressure: BBC radio workplace comedy about the dysfunctional crew of the world’s smallest airline. not only utterly hilarious but will tug on your heartstrings more than you could possibly imagine (this does not look at first like a found family story but it so very much is). warning for bendytoots cucumberpatch but like, in the one and only valid role he’s ever played. you definitely cannot find this show by searching its name on the Internet Archive.

Graveyard pranks - Anxceit
Summary: Dimitri and Virgil both know that in the dark side of the mindscape everything is twisted. Graveyards are a place of comfort. Tormenting your friends means fun. Falling in love...well, that's difficult anywhere.
Warnings: Dark themes, Panic attack, Remus, Arguing with strong language, possible character death, buried alive, character growth
Notes: Deceit’s name is Dimitri
Ominously, The full moon hangs overhead. Accomplishing the opposite of its intended purpose by making the shadows deeper among the headstones and gnarled trees, instead of lighter. But it's all par for the course on this side of the mind.
The wind whistles through the night making the cold creep in under Dimitri's jacket and cape. But the chill doesn't feel perfect for his frame of mind tonight. Nope not one bit.
Dimitri let's his bare hand skim over the curved tops of rough stone headstones. He barely reads the names and dates anymore knowing the landscape all too well. Besides, it's not the occupants that frighten him. It's the events, the laughter, and smiles that are never to occur here again that truly haunt him.
The graveyard had been a team effort on all of their parts. As Thomas was introduced to spooky Disney graveyards with dancing skeletons and moved onto sinister cinematic cemeteries the place grew more intense and comforting for the dark sides. Remus would keep his creatures here letting them hunt on the fringes of the subconscious. Virgil would stoically sit on every piece of stone that wasn't meant to be sat on while he softly sang along to his music. Dimitri had a much more functional use for the grave plots. He buried the truth here. For every powerful lie to go well, the truth ended up six feet under.
They would play… okay, more like torment each other here in the permeating darkness. Dimitri chuckled to himself as his foot crunched an old mangled pink bow. Bending over, he took his bowler hat off, as he inspected it closer.
~☆~
"I can't believe you were right. It got all of them to sit there the whole time!" Anxiety laughed for the first time in a long time. Throwing the empty peanut butter jar over top of the iron gate.
"What like it's hard?" Dimitri scoffed as he brushed the excess wolf man fur off of his outfit.
"Come on! If you weren't scared of them then you've got to be scared of what Rem is going to do?" Anxiety playfully shoved Dee away. Dee's hands flashed out and held the newest dark trait closer.
"Remus could kill us, burn us alive but my lust for you will never be extinguished." Dee joked as he dipped Anxiety back. Pressing kisses to his exposed neck. Before bringing him back up, a small smirk on his face. The shadows under Anxiety's eyes grew more pronounced with the blush on his cheeks.
Dimitri sauntered past him playing hard to get. Waiting for the moment his crush ran after him wanting another kiss.
"Do you really that could happen? Do you think Rem is going to kill us?" Anxiety asked as his footsteps grew shorter, hugging his black on black plaid jacket around his middle. "But like actually kill us? We hurt his babies and then he'll make me watch as he axes you to sashimi bites. Making me eat you then burying me alive with you inside me…" his words rushing together as he escalated.
"Yes, because Remus is the perfect chef and the world's leading matchmaker. Plus, There's…" Dee was cut off as the night swells with roars and the ground starts to shake. Dee turned back around when he heard plastic sneakers scrambling up stone. Virgil was up and gone before he could finish his sentence out loud "...easier ways of getting me inside of you."
Dimitri sighed knowing Anxiety wouldn't come back out of hiding for awhile. Might as well enjoy the show. Stepping over to the closest tree, slithering up to find a sturdy branch.
Alone, He watched from up on high as sixty nine wolf-men stampeded past. Bright pink bows everywhere there was fur still attached. The delicate ribbons matching their fresh poodle style haircuts. Holding his gloved hand over his mouth to muffle his snickering as Remus ran past screaming.
"Get back here, you non mangy mutts. Daddy must make you filthy and terrible again."
~☆~
His grin shattered into a grimace. Throwing the old bow down, the silly prank faded to white noise as Dimitri realized where his feet had stopped. His yearning and hatred had lead the snake to their darkest joke yet.
Intricate designs around those fateful words, were starting to fade from constantly being touched. His nails, hard as diamonds, made the head stone's letters turn to gravel as he raked his nails into the grooves.
~☆~
Dee's throat felt raw from calling Anxiety's name. His feet hurt from walking. His levels of exhaustion had reached new heights. Dimitri had spent all day looking for their little gargoyle. With no luck so far Dimitri gave up as he spotted the graveyard.
'If Anx doesn't want to be found, then I'll never find him.' He thought as he opened the wrought iron gate.
"This has to be the greatest prank ever." Remus called out to Dimitri, waving him closer as the music started to build.
The beat and lyrics only adding to the maddening glee on Remus' face. Pulling him in close Dimitri became infected with the beat and electric vibe. His feet kicking up the fresh dirt in the air with each move. But as the spinning continued his nausea clears his head.
"Wait. Prank? What prank?" Dimitri shook his head as he questioned Remus' motives for the dance party.
"Well for this bitch! What did you think I was talking about?" Remus danced off to the side as he started to grind and hump the grave marker.
"Here lies my beloved: Virgil "Anxiety" Sanders."
Dimitri's vision swam. His stomach rolled. As he read the words and learned his lover's name for the first time. Then he spotted the small metal bell shaking furiously.
"No!" Dimitri cried clicking his fingers to bring Anx… No, Virgil to the surface. Nothing, the death bell continues to wail and shake. Trying to drop down to him or bring Virgil up yields no results.
The clang of two shovels falling over grabs his attention. Seizing both of the tools, Dimitri find his second wave of energy. Throwing one Remus' way and starts moving huge piles of loose dirt. But as the creative side starts to do drill team twirls with it instead of digging, Dimitri screams at him.
"Just fucking help! He is our friend! Being dark and being cruel are two different fucking things."
Remus sticks the shovel into the dirt. To lean against as he watches Dimitri dig himself down to his boy-toy.
"I don't understand why you're freaking out so bad when he is just going to end up back down there anyway." Remus yawns.
"Screw you! Fuck you! How could you?" Dimitri spat out between slinging shovel fulls of dirt over his shoulders and out of the hole. He kept praying to whoever would listen that the bell would keep ringing. The ringing meant Anx...Virgil was still alive down there pulling on the tiny string that lead to the surface. That lead back to life.
The hollow thud of metal hitting wood greets his ears. Throwing the shovel down, ignoring how the blisters that formed have started bleeding. Dimitri strikes his nails against the cheap plywood as it splinters and breaks apart. Pulling the broken pieces away.
A gasping sound and Virgil's tear stained face comes into view as the ringing fades like ripples across the mindscape. Virgil aides in his own escape by kicking and punching from the inside as Dimitri tears the pieces away until the terrified side pulls himself up out of his own casket.
The air is knocked out of Dee as Virgil clutches to him. Arms wrapped around his neck while Virgil's legs are trying and failing to wrap around Dee's body. So he relents and sits on the side of the coffin. Letting Virgil get as close as he needs.
"It's okay. I got you. Never going to let you out of my sight. That demented shit head is never going to touch you again." Dimitri promises as he is rocking Virge and ignoring the strong smell of urine or how fast his shirt is being soaked with tears.
"Why are making me the bad guy? See my hands are clean." Remus retorts as green slime slides off of his hands and splatters against the ground. "Well except for that. But I had nothing to do with Mayor McAngst ending up in the hole."
"If it wasn't you, then who was it Remus?"
"You."
"Fuck you! I would never. I've been looking for him all day!" Dimitri screamed back.
"I don't care. I just want to go home. Take me home, Dee." Virgil whimpers out.
"Hey, Dimitri tell me do you think of your dilapidated fuck shack as home too? Can you love him like he deserves to be loved?"
"Yes, I love..." Before he can get the lie out Dimitri is pristine, above ground, as the bell is frantically ringing again.
Remus starts cackling anew. Rolling on the ground, red in the face as if it's the funniest thing in the world.
Picking up the shovel again, Dimitri finally accepts the truth he was trying to bury. Virgil deserves more. More love and security than what he is capable of. Dimitri wasn't created to love, but to deceive. What true love comes from lying?
Digging his love free again; Dimitri doesn't answer a single question that Remus hurls his way between giggles. Hauling Virgil and then himself out of the hole. He holds Virgil's passed out body close as he walks him to the other side of the mindscape. Giving into his biggest lie yet.
"He isn't one of us."
Burying his heart as the light side takes Virgil away.
~☆~
Deep howls roll through the cemetery marking the time; the witching hour. Stretching his tired bones Dimitri shakes off all of the new memories of Virgil from his mind. Like how well he was thriving and how beautiful he looks in purple. Trying to ignore all of the hate in Virgil's words as he stands with his new family. Trying to repress how he himself was forced by his very nature to respond like a dick. Instead of expressing his truth. Dimitri shook with the injustice of it all with one hand on the head marker of the only empty grave.
"It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, isn't that right, my love?"
Lightning cracks over head as the world turns bright in a flash, then is hurled into nothingness. The break of thunder makes the ground shake. Suddenly the wind whips up and surges around him. Dee holds onto his hat with one hand while the other is covering his mouth so he can still breathe.
Through the roaring wind, a noise was building. Dimitri could hear faint voices like a muffled conversation. Cupping his hand to his ear straining to listen. Dimitri's bowler hat takes flight off of his head. Hair whipping in his eyes, leafs and sticks being carried on the updraft are scraping at his face. Covering his face with both arms he protects himself. The voices turn from chatter then into soul wrenching declarations.
"I am Veritas, the daemon of truth. Your mouth is blasphemous. Your being an abomination. My scales must be balanced with your scaly head! I have come for my sacrifice!" The voices screeched together as one.
The daemon lorded over him from a top of the mausoleum. Lightning cracked over head again, as it bounded with ease all the way to the top of his beloved's tombstone.
"Don't even think of running. You can't save yourself. You're carcass will be drug off into the subconscious left to become a lowly function again and only your fleas will mourn you." The daemon brandished a dagger high in the air.
Dimitri's day of reckoning was here. Screaming from the depths of his essence he turned and fled. His whole body shaking but picking up speed with every foot fall. That is until he could hear laughter as the wind halted. Which made Dimitri wheel around, teeth bared, snake eye glowing bright yellow as his human eye glowed red with murderous intent.. This was the final straw Remus was going to…
"I got you so good!" Virgil laughed as he carefully dabbed at the stage makeup. Trying not to smear it with his happy tears. "You should have seen the look on your face. Fuck, I see why you always stuck around for the aftermath."
Then the air was knocked out of Virgil's body as Dee's fist connected squarely with his chest. As Virgil's world started to spin, Dimitri's seized the front of his costume, and crushed him to his chest in an embrace. Tugging the half face mask off, Dimitri touched the clean part of his face. Virgil could tell from that look that Dee was making sure it was the surly anxious side himself. Dimitri smiled when Virgil blushed and leaned into his touch. Dee let out an exhilarated sound that he couldn't hold back as the anger drowned in joy. His arms constricting around his former lover's body
"You shouldn't be here." Dee whispered against the side of Virge's neck as he laid the human side of his face against his costume.
"And you should stop lying to me." Virgil had to lean back to look the deceitful side in the face. Since he was not able to move any other part of his body due to all six arms holding him in place.
The flame of what they were caught in Dimitri's chest as Virgil licked his lips. His pink tongue such a stark contrast to the black lipstick. Dimitri pressed his lips against Virgil's before either of them could think. Lips moving with familiarity, a bite here and a tongue caress there. But the fire was snuffed out as fast as it was built. They couldn't go back. It defeated the purpose of their actions and choices. So Dimitri just enjoyed the smeared lipstick they were probably both sporting now.
"They're being good to you?"
"Yeah, it was hard in the beginning. But it's easier, in some ways now." Virgil hugged Dee back then pulled away. Working his way to standing back on his own two feet.
"Why? How are you here? The barriers have never faulted before." Dimitri asked as his mind recalled many nights were he tried to cross over to the light side without Thomas' permission. It never worked.
"The truth can't be buried or barred if everyone knows."
"You told him? Are you...were you cast you out and sent back here?" The anger in Dimitri flared for a whole different reason.
"No. It's okay. Well, I mean it'll be okay. But for now I can pass through the vale." Virgil threw the hood of his costume over his head and wiggled his fingers.
The snake side of Dee's face smirked as he sat down on a granite slab. The weight of the moment feeling like quicksand. Dimitri didn't have to lie on this side, or speak in riddles. He couldn't waste another minute.
"I'm really sorry. For how I act on the other side,  the lies are as easy as breathing standing in front of Thomas. I'm sorry for how we ended it. I know it's not enough. I should have a speech made up…" Dimitri started to lament as a punch connected to his arm.
"I figured that out, Pat helped me. You can't build a life off of lies and panic." Virgil pulled the hood back down and started digging through hidden pockets
"Then will this be the last time you...that you pull a prank in the graveyard?" Dimitri's heart couldn't go to that finite place.
"Not as long as you still have those shavers." Virgil smirked as he pulled out a jar of wolf-man biscuits and a baggie of purple and yellow bows.

The Green Lady
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hvitserk, (Fairy)Reader
Word Count: 2900
Warnings: none
-Part 1- -Part 2-
Anon request:
After Hvitserk unwittingly desecrates your home, you demand an offering for his transgressions. Nothing too big oh no, a trifle drink for a faerie, you don’t understand what he is complaining about. Is catching the Sun and putting it in a cup really so hard?
Game had been incredible in this section of the woods. Rabbits, stags, plump pheasants were everywhere. One of his companions even said they saw a boar the size of a ten year old and so fat the ground shook where it walked. It didn't occur to Hvitserk how strange that was until they tried to take a native Saxon through there. The boy was so frightened he started crying, begging them not to for he might never be seen again if he went in the woods. The land belonged to the 'good folk’. Odd name for a people he was terrified of. Odd name for people no one ever saw.
Every so often they came across strange structures, today was an entire clearing of ruins. There was so little left it was hard to discern what it had been once. It was man made, remnants of stone walls and floors all that remained. No roofs or wooden beams. No decorations of any kind, just ivy overgrown to a suffocating degree.
After being mystified and finding a good corner, Hvitserk untied his trousers and began to relieve himself on a more clear wall.
“Are you liking my castle?” your voice startled him, his eyes jumping up to find you sitting on the crumbling wall above him. Since he arrived he’d never seen a Saxon woman wear pants, yet yours were leather and intricately stitched, looking like vines were crawling up from your dirty bare feet. The green coat you wore shimmered, the inside a shade more blue and dangled low below your comfortably crossed legs. In your unruly hair two twigs of ivy sprung out like antlers, strangely with no hint of a band to hold them in place. Stranger still, you spoke in Norse.
He looked around at the ruins, not bothering to stop his business on your account. Smirking up at you he teased, “Not much of a castle.”
You smiled but it was sickeningly fake. “Mine, all the same. And you're pissing on it.”
“Where else am I supposed to go?” he shrugged.
“Perhaps you are more blind than you appear, but there's a whole forest out there.”
Finished, he tied himself and stepped back, declaring his business far too done to change his mind now. With a mocking bow he pompously addressed you, “Thank you for your time, my lady. I had a great time in your glorious ruins.”
Walking the distance away from you, as he rounded the corner into the woods and back to his friends, you were waiting. He snapped his head back to the place you’d been, to the impossible place you now were. Crossing your arms you relaxed among the ivy wall, a maliciously playful look about you.
“A whole forest and you had to tarnish my castle.” you stated wistfully.
Chucking up your quick travel as you knowing the runs better than him, Hvitserk leaned into you. “I can take you back to my castle if you like. Mines bigger.”
Your smile broadened, shifting on your feet ever closer. “Careful, I hear these woods are haunted. Never know if you’ll make it out alive.”
Scoffing in your face he straightened and walked by you, not caring for your little threat.
Traipsing through the woods and laughing without care, his friends joked around him instead of hunting any food. Some hands were already full and it was passing midday, him snacking on bread while they chattered.
“If Orlyg thinks he can hold out on me again I’ll kick him off the nearest damn cliff. That idiot thinks he can play everyone.” Was the last thing he heard, everything going silent around him after he snickered. Looking around no one was there, not even a rustling of ferns where his friends had walked through. Keeping a small panic at bay Hvitserk called out into the dense green forest. “Svein?”
No one replied, hell not even a bird chirped. “Bjartmar?” Still nothing. As he started walking back he realized he didn't recognize the woods at all. Walking further in a circle he found no axe marks on the trees to indicate which direction he came from.
A familiar and chilling voice came around him, startling the food out of his hands and onto the dirt. When he looked down to grab it, it was gone.“If you just keep going forward you should find the ocean at least, right?” He snapped back up, searching high and low. “Ah but perhaps back is forward, and south is east, and up is down. How could we possibly know now, Hvitserk.”
Catching you slither around a tree, on instinct he pulled up his axe and threw it, you squeaking and jumping out in time for it to embed in the trunk. You tsked you voice having gathered into one direction. “You travelers are never one for manners are you.”
Not knowing an iron clasp had been added as decoration, you grabbed it. A loud sizzling sound had you scream and stumble away, clutching your smoking hand. Your scream dissolved into a pained growl watching the steam die down and a band of black burn into your palm. You sent him a death glare for it before sighing and shaking your head, straightening yourself once the pain was bearable. “I suppose that one was my fault.”
Hvitserk however was feeling very small, his fingers curling into a fist as he watched you. The branches in your hair had dipped, the leaves turning orange and shriveling as you experienced pain. They hadn't reverted back, scarred now as you were. Putting a hand on a hidden blade he asked, taking a step back for every one you took toward him. “What do you want?”
“I wanted an apology.” You chuckled, stuffing your hands in your pockets while your long coat trailed over the ferns and dirt. “It wouldn't be the first time wanderers disrespected my home out of ignorance, and I like to think of myself as a lenient little creature.” You hissed, shaking your head, mocking him. “But I couldn't even get that out of you. I’m afraid if it's too late to get an apology, I’m going to need an offering.”
“Screw you.” His hand tightened on the handle.
Your eyes glanced at his arm awkwardly curled behind him. “You kill me you’ll never see your home again. You’ll wander Tír na nÓg for all your days… or at least until something pulls you into the waters.” His fingers loosened, looking at the unnaturally quiet forest around him. “Aren't you going to ask me what you need to do?”
Sighing he came back to you and drawled. “What do I need to do to get out of here?”
“I want you to~,” you pulled out a small cup from behind you, the handle almost useless the whole thing was so small. It looked like it was carved out of wood, the rim and handle lined in gold. “ put the Sun into this cup.”
He looked between you and the cup. “What?”
“I want the Sun.” You pointed up to the noon sky. “In this cup. You have until it goes down to get it, and if you don't,” you tossed it to him, Hvitserk barely catching it, “I’ll make you apart of my castle, forever.” his stomach dropped, “A beautiful string of ivy, growing strong and eternal in my very home until the end times.”
Hvitserk gulped, thinking back to the crumbling walls blanketed in ivy. How many people you must have there, forever growing and solitary, dead in a strange way.
“It's not a bad life.” As if you’d been reading his mind. “I’ll tend to you everyday, and I’ll punish those who think they can just piss on you.”
Your giggling only made him more sick, thinking over and over again how those had all been people once. Looking down at the small cup in his hands he tipped it, then looked to the sky, lost on how to get the very sun itself into a cup. It was a riddle obviously, but the answer was hidden pretty damn well from him.
Coming back down you were standing a breath away from him, that toothy smirk making his stomach flip. “Don't worry, I’ll be with you every step of the way to make sure no savage Ly Erg eats you and takes your clothes.”
Hvitserk tilted the cup, bitterly giving in to your game, “How very kind of you.”
You followed him in the most annoying way possible, you talked, constantly.
“-funniest thing about those Roman’s, was how they would sometimes start out praying to that one God, but then dissolve into praying to many God's. Like if the one they believed in wouldn't save them obviously a few dozen they abandoned would!” You barked a laugh that was grating on his patients. All the talking and laughing was preventing him from thinking of a solution, and he was sure that was the reason for it.
Hvitserk rounded in front of you forcing you to halt and pay attention. “Could you just… shut your damn mouth so I can think on how to get your stupid offering?”
“Mm~no.” His jaw clenched at your cheery face, your snickering only making him edge into seeing red. “How about you tell me about your life and I’ll stop talking. Deal?”
Turning his back to you he mumbled. “Not much to tell.”
“Oh I’m sure there is!” You skipped to catch up and walk backwards to watch his grumpy face. “A handsome young man like yourself must have a girl back home, a home slightly different from this one?”
He scoffed, “Slightly?”
“Oh sorry, I can get my centuries mixed up. To me it wasn't that long ago a tribe from your land traveled here and made cozy.”
Hvitserk tilted his head, “... you're lying.”
“Would I have a reason to? Isn't it more entertaining to think you're killing what could have been your brethren?” You asked ominously. “Ask them about their old ways and their old God's. They’ll be embarrassed to admit it but they had many once, sacrificed to the fields once, loved freely once. If you travel a bit north and west you’ll find some who still do, find them much like you.”
It was such a curious idea to him, you a curious thing. Stopping in his tracks he really took in your appearance, centering on the branches behind your temples. “What are you?”
You smirked, eyeing the cup. “Thirsty.”
Turning it in his hand, finding the action of playing with it the only thing that brought him any peace, he glared and continued to walk and think.
Watching him go you felt a small disappointment in the thought of turning him to ivy, he was fun to play with, made a lot a funny faces even when he was angry. Loudly sucking the air in through your teeth you caved. “Alright, I suppose I should tell you you're going the wrong way.”
Hvitserk was fuming when he charged back to you, “You were leading me away!?”
“I was following you, just because I didn't protest didn't mean I was leading.” having him roll his eyes so hard it look like he might fall back and start quickly running back to make time had your laugh echoing through the silent wood.
You watched him from the tree tops, watched him get nervous about abandoning you, watched him think of turning back on the deafeningly quiet woods to at least have a companion that filled it up with endless chatter. But he bravely pressed forward, glancing up at the crawling sun, getting more and more desperate with it's every passing inch. Like a frightened animal he took it out on the cup, throwing it into the wood with a roar that echoed and startled the more shy inhabitants.
Chuckling, your voice hung in the air. “You're almost there.”
“This is funny to you isn't it!?”
Your voice was suddenly solid above, sitting on a tree branch just behind him. “Of course it is.” you were holding the cup, polishing off the dirt from it's gold. “I have to make it hard Hvitserk. It wouldn't be a very good apology offering if it was easy.”
Frustrated he ran a hand along his braids, tugging them at the end. “This isn't just hard, it's impossible.”
“Oh please, I’ve had children figure it out…” you paused and pouted in thought, “Come to think of it a lot of children figure it out…” he grumbled and slammed to the ground with his head between his legs. “Oh come, it's not far now. And once you're there you can think and pout all you want until you decorate my halls.”
He was too busy grumbling to see you fade to a small ball of glittering light, silently touching down behind him to slither your arms along his shoulders, soothingly wrapping them around him as you leaned your unusually feather light body against his back. “Now now, you're not dead yet. No sense in giving up just because I outwitted you.”
Tossing his head back on your shoulder his amusement was bitter. Hvitserk turned to really see the branches growing from your head, the ivy leaves looking healthier already. Shaking his head he looked deep in your eyes, feeling oddly relaxed, like he could sit against you, against a wall, forever. “What are you?”
Raising your hand you put the cup in his vision. “Thirsty.”
The field finally came, void of trees in front of him to show the sun alone and whole and sliding closer to the horizon with a single stump below it. He felt tired. Honestly he would be at peace if it wasn't for a voice in the back of his head, a voice he nearly forgot the sound of, his mother's reminding him he was still alive. It was strange how urgent and panicked she was compared to the way he felt. His soul was heavy and dizzy for sleep, even as his fate was closing in.
“You feeling alright Hvitserk?” shaking the haze out of his head, Hvitserk nearly fell over, finding the stump a good place to rest.
He simply sat on it, watching the sun lower, feeling his muscles hang and tingle, falling asleep before his mind did. You stood beside him, watching carefully as the sun touched the horizon. Sighing, you were ready to take him as much as he was ready to sleep.
As the sun touched the edge of the cliff he startled you when he blinked and suddenly jumped up.
Looking around frantically, he spun and placed the cup on the stump and crouched down to be eye level with it, watching as the sun slowly descended into the itty bitty chalice. The sky above faded into a pale blue as the sun slipped in it's last few rays, reaching up like fingers clawing at the night. Gulping hard Hvitserk rose from his crouched position, looking in to see the cup filled with a dully glowing orange liquid, undisturbed it looked like the very dusk sun itself.
Seeing it he gasped into a smile, energy returning to him like never before. It broke him into the most relieved laugh he’d ever given, loud and hard from deep in his chest, his heart finally released from its case of constant worry.
With a pleasantly defeated smile you grabbed the cups handle, bringing it to your lips and drinking the glowing water. A familiar look of mischief came into your eyes when he saw you, looking between him and the drink making him uneasy again. “Want a sip?”
Hvitserk shook his head no, his mother's voice and guidance gone from him now.
You held it out to him. “Are you sure? A chance to taste the very Sun itself, that doesn't curious you?”
“There is nothing you could offer me in this whole damned world I have to be curious about. I want to go home. That was the deal.”
You eyed him carefully before nodding, tipping the cup and downing the rest of the liquid sun. Licking your lips you walked up to him, putting a free hand on his chest and kissing him.
It was hard to tell if the taste was you or the drink, a delicious sweet and tartness at once, like honeyed berries. The woods were strong on you, the mix of healthy soil and freshly cut lumber filling his lungs. When his eyes fluttered open as soon as your lips left his, Hvitserk found himself staring at his own camp from the forest boundary, darkness having descended around the torches and bonfires.
Sighing hard he walked in, expecting people to cheer or at least ask where he’d been. Instead they were stunned, asking if it was really him.
“Hvitserk! Hvitserk is that you!?” The people cleared out of the way so he could greet Ivar glued to a chair. Reaching him and bending down to embrace his brother, the hug was tight, like he might disappear again. Pulling back Hvitserk shook his head at his overreacting brother.
“Ivar, I was only gone for the afternoon.”
Ivar snapped back, looking Hvitserk up and down to deduce he in fact believed that. “You’ve been gone for three days.”
He looked between his brother to the many faces of wonder. How could he possibly explain it was only a quarter of the day he remembered, that there was no way three whole days had passed and he didn't notice. He still didn't even know what to call you.
