Parrots often turn up as props in European fruit/food feast still life paintings, such as these works by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller (Austrian, 1793-1865):
1. Fruit Still Life with an Amazon Parrot, 1824
🆔Turquoise-fronted Amazon (Amazona aestiva), native to South America
2. Still Life with Fruit and Parrot, 1831
🆔female Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus), native to Australasia/Melanesia
actually bc i was posting about this re jason the other day as well. i DO think its so funny when people are like. "this character wouldnt do xyz and to prove it here are some panels from when they were 13." like buddy idk how to tell you this but. even characters that dont have a drastic face-heel turn change like jason did tend to not stay static if theyre allowed to age
I usually dont feel the need to post things like this but ive seen like a billion posts saying the same thing all with like a billion notes/likes whatever so im just gonna shout into the void and say: some people seem to have only taken in what scaramouche had to say about what happened between him and ei and have completely ignored what both ei and miko had to say on the matter and its genuinely so frustrating. Ei did not see humanity as a flaw or hated him because of it or whatever wording you wanna use its literally because he shed tears that she took pity on him and did what she thought would be best for him. Miko suggested literally destroying him but ei couldnt bring herself to do it. Obviously, scaramouche took this as him being thrown out because he was weak but thats not what actually happened at all. The story between scara ei and miko is genuinely so heartbreaking because of how unintentional everything was and yet ppl would rather just label ei a hater ig and move on
this rewatch of sdmi has been wild because once you start taking the talking animals and their place in the worldbuilding seriously it's just like oh wow this is some real final fantasy plot huh. what do you mean the resident discriminated-against beastfolk are not only descended from ancient otherworldly beings masquerading as gods, and not only driven insane even more effectively than non-beastfolk by a curse because of their heritage, and not only serve as apocalyptically powerful vessels for those otherworldly beings, but are easy to read as having been created specifically because they're more powerful vessels than normal animals, and then abandoned to their own devices (being enslaved) for thousands of years until the next time their creators pop into this reality and want a convenient corporeal form to snatch. which game in the series is this
I went looking and couldn't find any record of me ever actually posting this on tumblr, oops, but a couple years back I wrote this thread on twitter about how Emmeryn's sacrifice absolutely is not supposed to teach Chrom (or Robin, for that matter) that "sacrifice is necessary" or anything like that and mmmm for reasons I am getting Upset about it again so asdfghjkl I'll actually share the Rant with my tumblr followers this time.
