The film How Green Was My Valley (1941), set in Wales, is on Film4 today and I was curious enough to go and look up the wikipedia. Here is a film which apparently won FIVE Oscars including Best Picture, beating Citizen Kane. I'm a little bit obsessed with the fact that because of the war they apparently built a set of a Welsh village in the Santa Monica Mountains in California!

I can't help but think that this film is the sort of thing that actual Welsh people might have opinions about, and you may not have time for this ask but I couldn't help but be curious as to whether you have any thoughts you would be willing to share?

I've never seen it! Which is wild, really. Am I right in thinking Richard Burton is in it? If so, it's a rare film about Wales where they actually cast Welsh actors rather than Some Other Goits With Cartoonish Accents.

I have read the book, though. I remember reading it and thinking it was probably a post-Aberfan piece, and then learning it predated Aberfan. I've always found something equal parts unsettling and poignant in that - the danger of the coal tips was haunting us even before it came true. At least in How Green Was My Valley, it didn't kill the children.

A bit of a rumble incoming but i was playing Deltarune again and i watched a few play throughs as well and i just love the moment when you look at the rooms in queens castle that resemble peoples browser search history and when you look in Asriels room Kris enters with closed eyes and does not see anything, and i see streamers be like ??? and go along their way but like, when I played i FELT that. I understood PERFECTLY why Kris did this. As someone who has an older brother, I would never in my entire life want to see my brothers search history, let alone in physical form. Like i do not know if this is what was intended there but I see it as the player goes to see whats there and Kris must open the door but they just REFUSE to see it and i understand
