Pumpkin Season!!!

I decided to take a serious social media break after the tiktok ban. I was devastated by the ban, then equally devastated that it became trumptok upon return.

I deleted it off my phone. I do have rednote, but it's not the same. I deactivated facebook and instagram. I am done.

I refuse to be sucked into an anxious angry hole for the next four years, like I was for his first four. I am terrified of the future now, so I have to take a break.

Instead of spending my time scrolling, I am focusing on learning new things, spending time with family and friends, experiencing life.

Here is what I've done so far!

I got a breadmaker for xmas. I am having the most fun with this thing! I have made four loaves so far, three white bread and one cinnamon raisin.

I joined Costco for the savings of bulk buying, and I have a new appreciation for cooking at home.

I am taking it back to basics, depression era shit. Baking bread, making hearty beef and bean soups, Rice and beans based dishes aplenty!

I look forward to dusting off my camera and going out into nature. I am excited to finally finish the half dozen craft projects I have started. I am itching to get my seeds planted indoors, in preparation for the spring.

We will survive a trump presidency. We just have to look inward. Stick together. We got this!

As a trans woman, im scared thinking of just how many other trans and non-bianary people have had accounts deleted on all of the big social media's recently. Im scared thinking about how we are still being silenced anywhere we try to exist, either online or in person. What will happen when it becomes illegal for us to exist anywhere? How far are the corporations in charge of our favorite social media's willing to go to silence us? How far are the governments of the world willing to go to silence us? What will we do then? Social media's can just delete any trans or non-bianary persons account and delete any post mentioning trans or non-bianary people. The government have already been sending police and military to break up demonstrations, whats to say they won't invoke more harsh punishments for us? Something needs to change. I realize this post will more then likely get my blog deleted, but then they will just be proving my point.

WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER AND SHOW THEM THAT WE WILL NOT BE KICKED DOWN! WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED!

Society, as a construct, is there for you to lean on and to help you.

That is it's core purpose and function.

People trying to sell "just do your own garden and never need food again" (farmchic or agroboy as a Brazilian friend told me) are not doing you favors.

its sales that you shouldn't need or rely on society... Even though that's it's literal function. To help you.

Imma not say society is perfect. It changes as we change, and often towards what the needs become.

However, we are social. We are not meant to be isolated hermits.

And in battle, we are stronger together rather than divided.

This isn't a call to be paranoid. This is a call to realize that not everyone is reliable in opinion. Especially when their opinion goes against all that we are.

"just go exist without people to help you or a system to help you when things go south" is never who we ever were.

And this is where knowing about "unreliable narrators" comes in handy.

Cool idea, and also, no.

Evidence says, we gotta work together. Evidence says, we do better when we want better things for all of us. And we strive to make it so (whether in good times with support, or in bad times in spite of lack of support)

I worked on an art piece today.

I still need to flatten and mount it to a canvas, it may wind up slightly smaller when finished.

This piece is in response to all of the vitriol and hatred coming out of the current administration. Removing references to transgender people at the stonewall riots is disgusting. We remember.

This was in my mind when I woke up this morning. I've been stressed and anxious so much lately, wondering "what can I do?" Calling representatives that don't care hasn't helped, my own representatives are already working on their responses. So.. I decided I'd make some art. I might turn the brick into a sticker.

(also, I absolutely drew the painted side of the brick wrong... But I like the detail it has. So I'm going to stick to it. Art doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to exist.)

Support local farmers and businesses.

Buy necessities only to the best of your ability (this coming from a k-pop fan 😭).

Don't let anyone gaslight you when you know what you saw. Never doubt what your eyes see.

Support your local community. We need to band together more than ever these days.

Find ways to stay off the Internet. I totally understand finding comfort in places like Tumblr or informing yourself with news sources, but we've gotta lose our dependency on the Internet.

Seek out an out of country news source that is neutral. That's how we learn what is going on (this is a tip from someone who once lived in Cuba).

Protect people. I know it's scary to think of the repercussions, but... if we let people hurt people, we'll struggle for a lot longer. We do not comply. Become ungovernable.

Stay strong. 💜 We are all afraid right now and we are all holding our breath for whatever comes next. But we are in this together and we are stronger in numbers. We the people is the first three words in the U.S. Constitution no matter what they do to hide that fact. The country was founded for the people and by the people. Never forget.
