Y'know what's always fun? Accidental stevethor proposals and betrothals.

The team's on Asgard, celebrating victory after helping to stop an invasion by the frost giants or something. Spirits are high, and Steve's definitely feeling lighter than usual with a few swigs of Asgardian liquor in him. Maybe he does some small, mundane thing like giving a little gift or a toast to Thor, and the next thing he knows, whispers and gasps are running through the watching crowd as Thor stares at him, wide-eyed and pink-cheeked.

Turns out, Steve's just unknowingly performed some ancient Asgardian courting rite, essentially announcing at the top of his lungs that he's proposing marriage to Asgard's crown prince. Oopsy :))))

Thundershield AU where Hiemdall first sees Steve in the 1940s when the tesseract opened up the galaxy on the roof of the airplane. He keeps an eye on Captain America for quite a while.

Flash forward to AOU, Thor for whatever reason stays for the battle and Steve ends up going to Asgard with him, Hiemdall reveals that he knows Steve, and he isn't the only one.

aka the AU that I've had in my head forever (was originally a Stony AU, but who knows, maybe I could make a Thor/Steve/Tony thing work out). The one that's basically "you stare into the abyss and the abyss stares back at you" except the abyss is literally the entire universe and a few people or things may have not only saw Steve, but attached themselves to him. Oh and also the tesseract left residue on his soul when the Red Skull was warped into the soul stone.

I so want to write a Sleeping Beauty-ish Steve/Thor fic for the new Ultimate universe

Like maybe Thor overhears Tony and Reed talking about universe 616 and how their universe should have been, including that he and Steve were meant to be more than just teammates. When confronted, Tony's reluctant to elaborate, saying that they aren't their counterparts and nothing is guaranteed, but Reed spills everything in the interest of fairness - if their resistance efforts are to suceed, there can be no secrets, however well-intentioned or sentimental.

So Thor's given access to their files and left watching over the soldier in the ice, this stranger he loved in another life. Wondering what sort of man he is and what will happen when he eventually awakens...

And I know it's true, that visions are seldom all they seem, but if I know you, I know what you'll do, I love me at once the way you did once upon a dream...

Comfort In Cold Places

Just a few weeks from the ice, Steve finds himself having a panic attack in public. Thor comes to the rescue.

The harsh wind promised a hint of snow, the metallic scent flooding his senses. Small flakes floated, melting away on any surface they touched. Steve swallowed as one landed on his bare hand, watching it melt away into a droplet of water. There was no escaping the snow, he felt trapped where he stood in the middle of the sidewalk. It would be easy to walk a few steps into a warm cafe or to hail a cab but everything felt like it was too much to do. He couldn't get his body to move, couldn't get his hands to respond to his wants. The wind came stronger, blasting him in the chest, and caused a chill to rush down Steve's spine. He closed his eyes, clenching his hand into fists, hard enough to leave half-moon patterns behind in his skin. The cold - the cold wind... It was stronger in memory, whipping around him. His hands gripped the controls as he forced himself to tilt them down. The cold, all he could remember was the cold. The wind was causing his eyes to burn, having to squint to see. His ears were roaring, body was frozen stiff. Fingers clenched around the controls. The sight of the icy waters, the chunk of ice was closer now. If he just closed his eyes, he wouldn't have to see his demise coming. He would just feel it.
