I always love this idea so much. Even just a brief encounter before Steve got the serum, with Thor so impressed with his spirit and courage that it leaves an indelible impression on him, one he recognises right away when they meet again in the present day. Steve may be taller and broader, but Thor would still know those eyes and the quiet gravitas of that voice anywhere ❤️

But also, banished mortal Thor being taken in as part of the Howling Commandos, forming a band of brothers with Steve and the others as they fight their across Europe? Quiet nights around the fire or on watch as Steve and Thor bond, sharing long lingering looks? GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEE!!

I think it would be so interesting if Thor came to earth in 40s and met Steve then they reconnected in Avengers 1
