Steve getting a fish tank and every fish he gets is named after every single person he knows because he is not that original and also some buried deep you'll-never-get-him-to-admit-it desire to take care of everyone.

Everyone of course finds out because the tank is right there in the open and everyone is very invested in their fish. The kids WILL get dramatic if their fish gets sick or dies. Especially if they die, the kids are offended Steve could ever POSSIBLY do that to them does he not love them?!

Steve is a good fishkeeper though, and he's just as sad when he sees one not doing so well. It sometimes gets bad enough that he checks up on said person it's named after just in case. The fish health has nothing to do with the person's health but just in case.

Robin makes fun of him for decorating the table the tank sits on in a nautical theme. It does not stop her from putting her old uniform hat next to his or getting a tiny anchor for the tank. She is equally as invested in her fish and points every time Robinfish and Stevefish are swimming in each others vicinity.

STEVE FISHER. Destroyer (1941). First Edition. Inscribed by Fisher to Hollywood producer Milton Sperling, who produced the first adaptation of Fisher's fiction to the screen, the seminal 1941 noir, I Wake Up Screaming: "For Milton Sperling / In sincere appreciation - and with very best wishes for his success, health and happiness / Steve Fisher / Sept. 15, 1941." The inscription was likely made near the end of the film's production, as Fisher co-authored the screenplay in addition to having written the novel, and the film opened in the US a little more than a month later, on October 31, 1941. Sperling worked in Hollywood between 1936 and 1971, and also produced such notable films as Pursued (1947), The Enforcer (1951), and The Battle of the Bulge (1965). A tremendous association marking the beginning of Steve Fisher's impressive career as a screenwriter, and an uncommon title in jacket, written the same year--a novel informed by his experiences in the US Navy.
