May I just say how well fed we are in the Steddie Fandom?

I’m sure someone has said all of this before, so i’ll just say it again.

It’s been over two years since we were introduced to Eddie Munson, only getting a handful of scenes of Eddie and Steve together - let alone interacting together - and it’s all thanks to everyone in this fandom why I am in the biggest steddie rabbit hole not looking for anyway out.

• thousands of beautiful fanart to browse through from talented artists. 🤌

• so many gorgeous edits of the boys, videos and pictures both. 😻

• cosplayers bringing them to life & letting them hold hands. 🥹

• how active so many ppl are after two whole years still constantly creating food for my pathetic brain to feed off of. 🩷

It’s beautiful how even though these characters didn’t interact nearly enough on screen, we all took one look at Eddie holding the glass to Steve’s throat and all thought the exact.same.thing.

I honestly love it here.

This fandom has me writing fanfiction again, something I haven’t done in YEARS and wasn’t planning on doing ever again really.

The goddamn chokehold steddie has on me is literally insane.

I’ve been working on this au for stranger things that’s kinda like once upon a time, it has the characters having once been fairly tale characters (with the stories being intertwined but not as crazy as once upon a time) but through a magic spell/curse they are put in a mostly magic less world with basically none of their memories but not just that they are given new lives, some deaged, a few brought back from the dead and a few aged up. Some of them start to remember and objects from their original world and stories break through. Obviously the stories they are originally from are slightly changed but my issue is what characters to make most of them. Some of them will be multiple characters even. Currently I’ve got

Max having been the queen of hearts

Billy being the banished prince of hearts and the prince in the little mermaid

Steve as the little mermaid

Holly as Alice

And Lucas as the king of hearts

Any suggestions and constructive criticism will be taken into consideration

Theory for Season 2 of Dead Boy Detectives

Steve Yockey said Desire of the endless would make a tempting appearance in season 2 of dbda where the boys build relationships beyond friendship.

What if Despair of the endless is calling for Edwin and there he also meets Desire? Despair wants something from Edwin he is uncomfortable with and maybe desire offers Edwin a deal. Maybe desire the endless is interested in Edwin because of his repressed upbringing and denial of his own desires? The deal could contain that Edwin has to give in to 1-3 Desires in exchange for his freedom of Despair. And there are at least 2 (romantic ) desires of Edwin we know: kissing the cat king & being romantically involved with Charles. That could be really interesting 🧐

Edited: AND MAYBE Desire the endless appears in front of Charles (because we know Desire likes to play games) and hints at the hidden desire Charles has for Edwin while Charles builds a romantic relationship with crystal 🫢 And this could be one of the steps Charles has to take to realize his romantic feelings for Edwin 🧐

It’s one of many possibilities 🤓

I Believe...Steddie

I normally don't mind angst (though I avoid drama fics in general). Miscommunication is the biggest trope in romance, so I'm all for it, but for some reason Steve x Eddie fics / drabbles where Eddie still thinks of Steve as Steve THE KING Harrington always sit weirdly for me. Sometimes, if the Upside Down didn't happen (AUs in general) or pre-UD setting, maybe -- sure, then that could work. But close to canon fics where Eddie lives and Steve legit confesses to him? Always just -- strikes me as wrong.

Finally realized why -- it's literally the antithesis of canon Eddie. Canon! Eddie is quick to acknowledge Steve has changed. He literally runs up to him in the Upside Down while a bunch of madness is happening and where he has every right to be consumed by his own shit-tastic situation, but instead, he's telling Steve how he is a great guy and has changed.

Can Eddie be bitchy and prejudice? Yes.

Does Eddie have grudges against jocks / the popular crowd? Yes.

But he also goes full on bowing gentlemen for cheerleaders (going out of his way to help Chrissy and make her smile) and he's quick to acknowledge Steve's not that same popular AH anymore.

With Steve's bitchiness not aimed at him, Eddie would be eating his Honeycomb and snickering when old habits popped back up, and maybe he'd feel conflicted about jocky Steve, complaining about going to games or something until somebody smacked some sense into him. Totally believe tension and disbelief about one liking the other or some bias about things, but I just can't see Steve proclaiming his love or whatever and Eddie assuming it is a trap or trick or prank or something.

Maybe he'd think Steve was confused. Maybe he'd assume they were doomed, but I can't see him blaming Steve for that or blowing up their relationship IF Eddie accepted the confession and they started dating. Eddie's way more down on himself.

If someone can explain how it makes sense, please do. I'd love to enjoy all Steddie tropes, and that one seems popular lately, but where my brain sees so many problems with them getting to the confession point or even a number of big arguments that could happen afterward due to outside aspects, those two strike me as highly tactile, highly clingy romantics who would be convinced they were the height of discrete while practically fused, constantly touching and being snide little judgy dudes together.
