Lyrics:
When the day is over
And the work is done
Well it's a different story
As the darkness comes around
I tried to let you know
You're going the wrong way
And the streets you thought
Would all be paved with gold
But when the wind cuts through
You'd even try to sell your soul
Everywhere you go
It's the long way
Now you're no longer
Just the boy next door
When they were falling in love
With that clean cut smile
Change of style
Just for a little while
Whatcha doing, hey whatcha doing
Walking through danger
Can't see the wrong or the right
Whatcha doing, tell me whatcha doing
Can't be a stranger
Must be a trick of the night
Well its a laugh a minute
And you can't decide
Between the burning question
And the fortune in his eyes
You never let it show
Or take it the wrong way
Sometimes you wonder
What you came here for
Oh, they could tear you apart
With those bare faced lies
Can't disguise
All the hurt you're feeling inside
Whatcha doing, hey whatcha doing
Walking through danger
Can't see the wrong or the right
Whatcha doing, tell me whatcha doing
Can't be a stranger
Must be a trick of the night
Whatcha doing, hey whatcha doing
Walking through danger
Can't see the wrong or the right
Whatcha doing, tell me whatcha doing
Can't be a stranger
Must be a trick of the night
Of the night, of the night
Must be a trick of the night
When the day is over
And the work is done
Well it's a different story
As the darkness comes around

A-T-3 202 Bananarama - Summer Dub
Summer Dub is the version for me ('Special C.B. Mix' on the b of the 12), it's the Nile Rogeresque guitar and the piano similar to what you might get on a Weatherall remix. Written by Bananarama with Steve Jolley & Tony Swain and produced, like all their early records, by Jolley & Swain. The production duo of Jolley & Swain were also riding high with Imagination (Night Dubbing) and Spandau Ballet (True, Gold) in 1983
I saw a discussion about a Tom Moulton mix of Cruel Summer the other day. It came out for Record Shop Day in 2019. There was a discussion about if it was contemporary with the original release which it really isn't, Tom Moulton the father of the disco mix is still going strong. Tom Moulton is also credited with inventing the breakdown, he's certainly known for it, I'm listening to his mix for the first time now and there's the breakdown. 7.55 for a Tom Moulton mix, I'm feeling a bit short changed!

The Monolith Monsters (1957)
"From time immemorial, the Earth has been bombarded by objects from outer space. Bits and pieces of the universe, piercing our atmosphere in an invasion that never ends. Meteors, the shooting stars on which so many earthly wishes have been born. Of the thousands that plummet toward us, the greater part are destroyed in a fiery flash as they strike the layers of air that encircle us. Only a small percentage survives. Most of these fall into the water which covers two thirds of our world. But from time to time, from the beginning of time, a very few meteors have struck the crust of the Earth and formed craters; craters of all sizes, sought after and pored over by scientists of all nations for the priceless knowledge buried within them. In every moment of every day they come, from planets belonging to stars whose dying light is too far away to be seen. From infinity they come: meteors."

Chicago were heavily derided for their 80's, but they weren't alone in that regard. However, I would say the gigantic superstars of that period had the largest amount of issues after their boom, because they benefitted greatly from the musical climate of then and once that changed, the backlash seemed inevitable. Some managed to go brilliantly bonkers, such as Talk Talk, while many had no clue what to do next. Spandau Ballet were the latter, even though they knew what they did before True. That album, which could be seen as another prototype for sophisti-pop, transformed them into huge celebrities, yet it also became an albatross around their necks. Their follow-ups lacked the fear on whether or not things work, which is a hallmark of great LPs, they contained some good songs, but they were not as consistent as True.

"Cruel Summer" is a song recorded by the English girl group Bananarama. It was written by Steve Jolley, Tony Swain and Bananarama. Released as a single in 1983, it managed to reach number eight on the UK Singles Chart in 1983 but barely broke the top 100 in the US - until it was featured in the 1984 film The Karate Kid and shot up to number nine on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
The music video was directed by Nigel Dick, and shot in New York City in the summer of 1983 and features a take on the American TV show The Dukes of Hazzard, with a bumbling cop duo who chase the girls as they make their escape in a truck (at one point, Bananarama members throw bananas at a trailing police car).
"[It] was just an excuse to get us to the fabled city of New York for the first time," Siobhan Fahey said. She recalled the shoot, conducted during a heatwave, as a difficult experience. "It was over one hundred degrees. Our HQ was a tavern under the Brooklyn Bridge, which had a ladies' room with a chipped mirror where we had to do our makeup."
After an exhausting morning shooting in the city in brutal summer heat, the band returned to the tavern for lunch. They made the acquaintance of some local dockworkers, who, upon learning of their situation, shared vials of cocaine with them. "That was our lunch," said Fahey, who had never tried the drug before. "When you watch that video, we look really tired and miserable in the scenes we shot before lunch, and then the after-lunch shots are all euphoric and manic.”

EZIL- “Where is Cyrus?”
LUCAS- “Where he always is now days. In the workout room.”
Tumblr media
It was true, for the past few weeks since Morgan’s funeral, Cyrus has spent secluded in the workout room that Abraham built from the old guest house in the back. This room once served as his great-grandfather Nico’s bedroom. But Abraham had it renovated and made into a stylish home gym, complete with showers adjacent that also served the pool area.  Cyrus loved it as it was disconnected from the rest of the house. It became his place. Quiet, peaceful and alone place, even setting up his bedroom in the basement area under the gym.
The trial was quick and painless for everyone involved. Steve Jolley plead guilty and never went to trial. He received 25-30 years, with no parole for the murder of Morgan Asher.  Joseph Mercer on the other hand fought tooth and nail. In the end he was found guilty of several counts of drug trafficking and receiving and selling stolen property.  He also was found guilty of prostitution and delinquency of minors, as Morgan and Cyrus were not the only young boys that worked for Joseph Mercer. He was sentenced separately on each count and received a total of 85 years in prison. He is not due for parole for 30 years.

Lyrics:
Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning
I sit around
Trying to smile but the air is so heavy and dry
Strange voices are sayin' (what did they say?)
Things I can't understand
It's too close for comfort, this heat has got right out of hand
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
Leavin' me here on my own
It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer
Now you're gone
The city is crowded, my friends are away
And I'm on my own
It's too hot to handle, so I got to get up and go
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
Leavin' me here on my own
It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer
Now you're gone
Gonna feel only it was
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin' me) leavin' me here on my own
It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer
Now you're gone
It's a cruel, cruel summer
Leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel, cruel summer
Now you're gone
You're not the only one
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin' me) leavin' me here on my own
It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer
Now you're gone
You're not the only one
It's a cruel...
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin' me) leavin' me here on my own
It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer
Now you're gone
You're not the only one

Fine won’t affect Curzon’s commitment to the community
A TWEETED picture tells it all. Showing club chairman Wayne Salkeld with a group of junior players it bears the caption "Great to be back tonight. What we do best at Curzon Ashton."
The Nash are one of 18 clubs fined by the National League for failing to meet fixture obligations since the turn of the year, even though the country was facing its third lockdown and funding, originally supplied as grants, had been replaced with loans.
Maidstone United have responded by proposing a motion of no-confidence in the league's board and chairman Brian Barwick, which has been seconded by Dorking Wanderers. It needs 10 per cent of the 66 member clubs to back the necessary emergency meeting and the result should be known shortly after 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday).
Over the weekend, Mr Salkeld spoke to BBC Radio Manchester Sport about the £8,000 fine imposed on Curzon.
He said: "I'm really shocked about it. I can't believe it. It's unbelievable how it's going. There's a vote of no-confidence in those who are running the league at the moment because of the decisions they're making.
"It's £8,000 which we haven't budgeted for or anything like that. So to get that on our plate at the moment, well we just can't afford to pay it."
However, in the background, the Nash are refusing to allow the controversy to stop them doing what they do best. They have taken advantage of the relaxation of covid restrictions to allow outdoor sport to relaunch their youth programme.
Manager Steve Cunningham, who is in the thick of things, commented: "With my assistant, Damien Crossley, I've been at the ground a great deal over the last few days putting all the preparation in place ready for next year.
"We've been looking at pre-season, organising targets and little bits of details to improve the club on and off the field with analytics, equipment and player performance.
"Also, we're helping out the volunteers with coaching the juniors. Tonight we'll be taking the under-17s with Paul Jolleys. We're just keeping an eye on things."
