What are your head cannon sexualities/identities for LR/MM kids
I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED-
Ok I guess I'll go oldest to youngest, so starting with Adam:
• I headcanon him very strongly as aro/ace
• partially because I don't ship him with anyone, partially for representation, and mainly because I love the idea of him thinking he has to get a girlfriend since he's seen as the Strong Handsome one, but then he realizes there isn't anyone he actually wants to date once he gets out into the world
• and then he's a trans guy
Bree:
• giant lesbian
• lesbionic
• bionigay
• homohero
• g i r l s
• (she was on some compulsive heteronormative bullshit during highschool)
• she's a cis girl, but is one of the best trans allies because she grew up with two trans brothers
Oh, yeah, that leads me to Chase:
• ftm trans
• bisexual disaster
• thank you for coming to my TEDx Talk
Skylar:
• I have this headcanon that everyone on Caldera is attracted to all genders and she never was use to labeling her sexuality so she doesn't
• and she's agender but uses she/her pronouns
Leo:
• enby, he/him/they/them
• pansexual with a preference for girls
Oliver:
• ftm trans
• biromantic/demisexual
Kaz
• I go back and forth between the headcanon of him being ftm and him being genderfluid (really like him being genderfluid tho)
• and he identifies as gay but he hasn't come across a gender he isn't attracted to
And as for the side characters:
• Marcus is an android, I kinda doubt he has a sexuality the way humans do, but if he did, he'd be bi (no gender. only robot.)
• Jordan's a cis lesbian
• Alan's ftm and gay
• Stephanie's mtf and pan
• Caitlin... lesbian, but I doubt they claim her
• Spike's mtf bisexual
• Gus is the only one I will allow to be cis/het

Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
An Occasional Attempt to Read, Discuss and Review the Wonders of Comics
By: John Rafferty, cranky old man, and Fan of All Things Comics
Short Takes
Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
Legion of Super Heroes 6-10 (DC Comics)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Ryan Sook (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9) Inker: Wade Von Grawbadger (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9)
‘You want to be called Bouncing Boy?
Looking at the Memexes, we were considering “The Bullet”.
Bullet?
It’s a projectile that——
No, with me, it’s all about the BOUNCE.
———————————————————————————————————
Can Brian Bendis write everything?
Between story, and downright FUN, this is a great book. Team books are hard to do well, if for no other reason, because of the characterizations.
Multiple characters mean multiple personalities, and some of those will always get underdeveloped in relationship to the team, as the writer invariably has favorites Unless…
What we are seeing with LSH is development of characters from across the spectrum. Every book has development of some of the characters, even if they’re not directly involved in the story. This is a far cry from what you see in other books.
Add to this Ryan Sook’s breakdowns, and Wade von Grawbadger’s inks, and you get a pretty package, all tied up in a big bow. More importantly, this is a story with a legacy reaching back 60 years, and is being truly refreshed for a new audience.
This isn’t the Legion I read in 1967, but it’s damned good!

Suicide Squad #9 - 10 (DC Comics)
Writer: Tom Taylor Artist: Bruno Redondo
I have Kord’s location.
Okay. Do you also have the Senator?
Oh, did you want him back for some reason? That spineless mouth-breather championed a law to dump more waste into the sea. Delusional, greedy @#$% thinks he owns the world.
I have some friends reminding him he does not.
———————————————————————————————————
Floyd Lawton, first appearance, Batman #59, June 1950, as the man who never misses.
Floyd Lawton, a man who feels no rereason to continue living, but has no wish to die: who puts his life on the line to save his teammates time and time again, to save his daughter and her mother, all with the wish of dying in a truly spectacular fashion.
Floyd Lawton, who finally finds a reason to live, in the eyes of his daughter, Zoe.
Floyd Lawton. Deadshot. Perennial member of Task Force X, finally earned his pardon.
Game Over.
By all that’s Unholy, Tom Taylor is a hateful SOB! But the man writes a great story!

Marvel Zombies Resurrection # 1 - 4 (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson Artist: Leonard Kirk
‘Fine. I guess we came all this way.
Might as well do something really stupid.
———————————————————————————————————
This sums up exploring the World, any world, during a Zombie Apocalypse. Especially when those with Super Powers have been turned into Super Zombies.
So, we pick up with Peter Parker, Forge, Karla Sofen (Moonstone), Valeria and Franklin Richards, a Flerkin named Chewie, and the reprogrammed Sentinel lovingly called ‘Nana’, moving from defendable place to defensible area, seeking a ‘safe place’. Somewhere they can rest for more than one night… if that is possible.
Always realizing the next tree could be hiding a zombified Avenger, or Defender, or Loved one…
Johnson’s Miniseries is another version of the Marvel Zombiepocalypse, which begs the question, what happens when Zombie Galactus infects your world? Or, more importantly, when it CARRIES the infection to your world?
Leonard Kirk’s art style is perfect for this story, a very dark, visceral style which is a little hard on the eyes, making the reader work for every panel. Yes, it hurts to read, but IT SHOULD! It’s Zombies!
This is worth the read if you can get all 4 issues (the first issue came out in July).

Rorschach #1 (DC Black Label)
Writer: Tom King Artist: Jorge Fornes
‘They won’t talk to me. Treating me like I’m a damn Kindergarten kid. I got twins in Kindergarten. Duane and Dwight. I’m not a Kindergarten kid.
Jesus Christ. What’d they say to you?
That you’re dying.
Shit.
===========================================================
In 1985, Walter Kovacs died.
It went unnoticed, but for the few in attendance, for Kovacs died following the Alien Invasion of New York, which, in effect saved the world.
Yet, unnoticed, but for the few, Walter Kovacs became a red splash on the Antarctic permafrost.
And Rorschach, the Crime Hunter, died with him.
Or. did he?
In a world existing somewhere between Watchmen 1985 and Current Multiverses, Tom King and begun a noir-ish tale… Did Rorschsch come back, to foil an assassination attempt, and die in the process?
Did he come back, and fail at an attempt at assassination?
Or, Gentle Readers, is there a whole slew of balls in the air we just haven’t seen yet, that we are going to be expected to juggle deftly, as they drop just into sight?
I can’t wait for the answer!

Justice League #54 - 57 (Death Metal Tie-In) (DC Comics)
Writer: Joshua Williamson Artists: Xermanico (54, 57), Pencils: Robson Rocha (55 - 56), Inks: Daniel Henriquez (55 - 56)
“Don’t you get it Cyborg? We’re not the Justice League!
We’re the Suicide Squad!
———————————————————————————————————
I have said before I am not a fan of Joshua Williamson’s writing.
Maybe I just don’t like him on the Flash.
Four issues, each of them a very good story, each building, with some action and humor, to a smash mouth endpoint, that brings us to Death Metal #5.
I have to say, I’m enjoying this run of Justice League, even with the switch of artist teams mid - tale Xermanico’s work os beautiful, right into the valley of the Starros (that gave me giggle fits!) Rocha and Henriquez’s work is very pretty, and a little darker than Xermanico’s, giving a more atmospheric touch to the Antenna of LOD.
I have to admit, they do a mean Kori, as well! Really FIERCE, with a Full Length mohawk!
Well worth the cost of admission, and a strong addition to the Metal storyline.

Nightwing #75 - 76 (DC Comics)
Writer: Dan Jurgens Artists: Travis Moore and Ronan Cliquet (75), Ronan Cliquet (76)
‘We have to talk.’
———————————————————————————————————
Four words.
Four words that have ended more relationships than violence.
Dan Jurgens has done a masterful job of tying up the Ric Grayson / Amnesias storyline that seems to have run for nigh on ever… by bringing it full circle to Anatoli Knyazev, the KGBeast.
The artwork in these two issues was pretty, with obvious switches between that of Travis Moore (the Titans / Batgirl pages) and Ronan Cliquet’s Batman / KGBeast pages.
Nicely tied up, completing multiple storylines in two issues. Ready to move forward/

Young Justice #19 - 20 (DC Comics)
Writers: Brian Michael Bendis and David Walker Artist: Scott Godlewski
Red Tomato?
I think he said Tornado, and you know it.
Honestly, he talks so fast, I can’t understand him most of the time.
———————————————————————————————————
Damian Wayne, Robin. Cassie Sandmark, Wonder Girl. Bart Allen, Impulse. Conner Kent, Superboy. Stephanie Brown, Spoiler. Keli Quintela, Teen Lantern. Zan and Jayna. the Wonder Twins. Jinny Hex, Naomi, Amethyst,
Twenty issues in, and the book is cancelled… or is planned to end. Either way, this is a suck way to do things, DC.
This is a great group of characters. Much better than the roster in the Young Justice cartoon, simply for the diversity. Some heroes just coming into their own, some who have existed for years, (the Wonder Twins have been around in MULTIPLE iterations since the 1970s), all helping each other… This was a great jumping in book for pre-teens who weren’t up for all the violence / hyperkinetic action / storytelling of a true adult book.
And, it was FUN!
Bendis, Walker and Godlewski produced a fantastic product every month.
One which is ending too soon. Unless, of course, it is going to come back in a new package…
Hint, hint, hint…

Amazing Spider-Man 50 - 53 ‘Last Remains’ (Marvel Comics (duh!))
Writer: Nick Spencer Artist: Patrick Gleason
‘You’re going to love it, Pete. There’s no better feeling in this life — Than being surrounded by those you love.
———————————————————————————————————
So, what are the rules around DEAD Characters returning?
Do they have to be relevant after so many years? Shouldn’t they be, well, driven to do something? Not take more than 50 issues to finally get around to saying…”Bazinga!’, or it’s equivalent?
I must admit, issue 50 is the first issue of a Spider-Man book I picked up, and started to enjoy, until I realized I needed to pick up the LR issues also in order to get the whole story. Didn’t’t we get enough of this in the Shooter Years?
What about a year and a half ago, when Marvel vowed they would never pull this crap again??
I guess they forgot… (Insert comparison to jackass in office here).
Too much work, don’t really care.
Especially when the reveal of who Kindred is happens in issue 50, and Peter finds out in #53… Puh-Leez!
At least it’s not Professor Warren and his Gwen Stacy clone. **BRRRRR** Freakin’ Creepy Old Perv!

Batman 101 - 102 (DC Comics (bigger DUH!))
Writer: James Tynion IV Artist: Guillen March (101) Pencils: Carlo Pagulayan Inks: Danny Miki Artist: Carlos D’Anda (Pages 13 - 16)
‘DOUBLE RENT! And you don’t talk to the other tenants! They are good people.
Little Santa Prisca is a community. We live through BANE. We live through JOKER. Don’t blow it up with all your nonsense!
You got it Charlie, No Nonsense. Not Here.
Hey! What’s your policy on Hyenas?
———————————————————————————————————
So, Lucius Fox is one of the richest men in the world.
Selina Kyle has put the Bat on a One Year Clock to get his stuff together, or she walks.
Clownkiller might be the Bernard Goetz of Superhero Vigilantism (look up the reference, I can’t do everything!), but he goes about proving you can’t keep a good vigilante killer down if he has Google.
Ghost Maker is more than we thought, and knows who Bruce Wayne keeps in the closet (or cave).
Is there anyone in Gotham who doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is?
Tynion continues to pump out some great product, the stories and characters do not disappoint. Including Grifter as Fox’s ‘bodyguard’ was a nice touch, having him get the drop on Batman, a nicer one.
The art in both books, while vastly different, is simply gorgeous. I want to see more od the team of Pagulayan and Miki, I’m hoping to see their work grow with the storylines.
Next issue, BATTLE Sequences! Should be fun, not that it hasn’t been so far.

Shang Chi #1 - 2 (Marvel Comics)
‘I have to save my Little Sister!
I have to kill my Big Brother!’
———————————————————————————————————
Only meetings should have agendas.
-Me, just now
Once upon a time, Sax Rohmer wrote stories about the machinations of one Fu Manchu, and his oft overturned attempts to take over the world.
In 1973, Steve Engelhart and Jim Starlin brought Shang Chi, son of Fu Manchu into the Marvel Universe, where he and his MI-6 partners Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr were responsible for being the monkey wrenches in the machinery of Fu Manchu’s Plans.
It seems that Shang Chi is back, without his prior father. He is still proficient in all forms of martial arts, but now, he is ‘Champion of House of the Deadly Hand’ (like that name isn’t going to come to but him in the butt like a Karmic werewolf), and since the passing of his ‘Father”, now the Commander of the Five Weapons Society.
The artwork is pretty, and the story, steeped in Asian Mysticism, is a little draggy so far. Is the story good? Yeah, it’s a nice reminder of a character I exjyed a long tome ago.
Will it get better? Time will tell.

The Rise of Ultraman #1 - 3 (Marvel Comics, by way of Tsuburaya Productions)
Writers: Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom Artist: Francesco Manna
Oh. You’re here to fight because you think we’re one of the species that can’t evolve.
No. I know you cannot evolve.
Fifty-Four of your years ago, my brother came to assist you. And you killed him.
———————————————————————————————————
In the late 60’s, on certain New York television stations, the Saturday Afternoon hours were filled with Japanese imports, Kaiju - United Science Patrol, and of course the story of the death of Moroboshi, and the coming of Ultraman.
Ultraman, a human - alien symbiosis, who fought the Kaiju menace coming to take over the Earth.
Forward to 2020, a new Ultraman, with a new team of USP helpers / friends, and what looks at this point to be a corrupt system surrounding them.
This creative team has done a marvelous job with the material thus far, reviving this character for a modern reader.
It’s just a shame it’s only 5 issues…
It is definitely worth the read.

American Vampire 1976 #1 - 2 (DC Comics)
Writer: Scott Snyder Artist: Artist: Rafael Albuquerque
‘DAMMIT! Before what happened with Gus, you were the best vampire tracker and killer around. I’m asking you to help me take down whoever this PEELING MAN is.
But if this shitty music and LASERS is your life now, then just say so, and I’ll leave you to it.
It’s not a laser, you goddamned idiot.
It’s a SOLAR LAMP. **klik**
———————————————————————————————————
Ten years ago, Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque and Stephen King started a journey which has spanned 10 Years in real time, but 200 years, and 12 separate cycles in series time.
The current iteration has our favorite group of vamps and exterminators running around 1976, wrecking discos, trains, and graveyards, all in the name of bringing back Stoker’s primary villain.
Snyder proves again he is up to the task of creating a world of whimsy and horror, providing mayhem, madness, and the occasional snorting giggle. His droll wit, and ability to write a phenomenal action piece makes this cycle of the American Vampire story a must read.

Connie s11 spec.
-About Connie...the writing and s11 news
-anti Daryl/Connie
-Connie only
idk I’m kinda a Connie fan but really critical of it. I just want a certain way with the character. It depends on the writing. I really like the idea of Connie but it’s too early to say for me to stan(?). That’s just how I do it like with my faves it takes like 2-3 full seasons to get invested in it. Anyway, she seems cool but not yet fully developed and I don’t want her to be a prop or used only for Daryl-ship. I also hope for great sisters bonding. There isn’t a lot of that in TV shows so..I would like to see strong Kelly and Connie scenes too. So, to me..it’s like I want Connie to be like a Sasha instead of a Beth. I want Connie to be more herself and do cool things instead of just be as a prop.. And it’s all depends on the writers. :\ (sorry I just don’t care for D/Connie that much like the shippers on the web. It’s very underdeveloped to me and I just see them as friends/acquaintances. Like I can’t ship them or see them as a possible ship threat either. Needs more time and deep scenes between them. Whatever, I still ship Caryl anyway.)
So after the finale aired and more news of TWD, we learn that Connie is alive and mostly saved by Virgil at somewhere, and I’m not sure but she’ll be in one ep in s11 or maybe some episodes in like s11B. It’s actually all about LR’s scheduling (and not writers firing the actor). I’m still confused about it because I would think she might do these episodes while in this pandemic times and movies/tv show re-scheduling(?). I guess LR is still busy like I guess with promoting her movie. I thought she could do 10c but I guess that’s already planned and written earlier/Feb. and probably can’t do s11A because of writers not knowing for sure. And the way Kang said it, Idk if it’s one episode or that there’s a Connie-centric ep plus more episodes that have her in it. So, I think Connie might be still be kind of like a supporting character-like and not see her much in the show.
I think it’s disappointing for Connie fans/stans for hoping for this great potentional to be really get to know her/what the character could be,,..and then it’s on the last season of TWD. I don’t think she will be in the Caryl spin-off show ...or others, because the spin-off sounds like it’s just Carol and Daryl. (Also, I don’t think writers could play out the D/Connie romance either in s11, when she’s barely there and then Daryl leaves ASZ.)
So, idk, I’m like yeah Connie lives but the rest sounds disappointing. But I guess all I can think is that Connie lives and I do think she’ll get a happy ending for her story by reuniting with Kelly, in the final season. I’m also kinda thinking Connie will later keep Dog. But, now, I’m wondering what Connie and Virgil gonna do. Why haven’t they been at ASZ since then or let Stephanie know they know Eugene. Idk. Maybe they’re at a different community that Stephanie and Maggie are not part of. Or, Connie and Virgil will eventually be back in ASZ/Hilltop but I think writers could add something to it. (I am also surprised to see Virgil back too lol.)

I have a question for the class tim twin thing, are they like, clothes gremlins together out to steal everyone’s clothes, bc Cass is like, a year older than Jason
… Cass is like 18. She has to go to high school and stuff like that (we know because Bruce in Batman and The Signal talks abt it), and Jason is far over high school.
I mean, DC’s ages are crazy, yeah, but for what I read, Tim and Cass have literally the same age, they have like months of difference (Cass is 6 month older, lr something like that) and that was the reason they got along and they shared friends like Conner and Stephanie (and Connor, yeah) (pre-new52)
When I say they are twins I mean: they are gremlin twins, they don’t sleep, don’t eat health food, don’t have healthy coping mechanisms, steal each other clothes, love their father, want to become Batman and they do teenagers things as disobey orders, and fight crime and tell people Killing is Bad and do good things together. You know. A typical Teenagers vs the World thing.
Don’t age up Cass. I know DC timeline is a mess, but she’s not older than 18, and Jason is been written to be a 22-ish boy…
#that’s my idea#and i’m so annoyed by an aged up cass because ugh that’s the way they age up woc to be a supprt character for a white boy normally#i mean#she comes us a 17 the first time you see her#in batgirl (2000) she’s 18 and she becomes friend with tim#she loves tim so much she doesn’t care to look after him in her messy way#she ask him if he wants to be the bludhaven new duo robin and batgirl#she does messy thing as a teenager and needs the support of barbara and bruce and tim#and jason inbthe first timeline where she appeare isnt alive#and if cass is older than jason so is tim#cassandra cain

Bookish Questions
Got this most entertaining tag game I would like to thank @mistress-elizabeth for greately!
1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest? Since I moved thrice the recent two years… My Civil law book. At my parent’s place it would be “Kalle Blomquist” by Astrid Lindgren.
2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next? Current read: A tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz
Last read: Life below stairs by Allison Maloney is last one I actively remember but mostly I’ve been trying to get through my newspapers.
Next read: a lot of text books on Frech semantics, and national constitional rights. ”How to read a book” by Mortimer J.Adler, “Alias Grace” by Margaret Atwood, “23 things they don’t tell you about capitalism” by Ha-Joon Chang
3. Which book does everyone like and you hated? Where shall I begin? “Agnes” by Peter Stamm, “Willhem Tell” by Friedrich Schiller, “Twilight” by Stephanie Meyer, “Milk and Honey” by Rupi Kapur (not hate but I could only find 5 good poems, the rest was the Kafka-Kahlo-syndrome) “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon, the shadow hunter saga by Cassandra Clare, and so on, and so on…
4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t? “Doktor Faust” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe… I know, ahame on me
5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?” Thicker fiction books as my currect ambition evolves around Economist articles and explaining International relations.
6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end? I've a bad habit of reading the very last sentence when the beginning is either too long-winded lr the middle too exciting to wait what comes next.
7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside? Only if a certain historical or biographical context is needed to understand the work, or if the author needs to explain something essential, otherwise acknowledgements even by famous people, especially in English literature, take way too much time before allowing me to enter into a book.
8. Which book character would you switch places with? Maybe a backgroudn character of the His dark material worlds just to know what daemon I have otherwise, I can do without sopa opera worthy love complications and living in circumstances without an enlightened mindset and atibiotics.
9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)? A Dutch short story collection… I wasn’t too eager about it but my mother made me a present after an awful week so it has an inofficial value. A three piece Oscar Wilde works colection I got in the most beautiful bookshop I’ve ever set my foot into, back in Ireland.
10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way. Once I’ve been having lunch in a terrasse on my free day in Ireland. The tereasse was cozy, directly connected to my beloved bookshop. Next to me an elderly, well dressed coupe from Dublin somehow got into a conversation with me. Telling them I was currently reading Irish folk tales, and yes, it’s the first time, I’ve been in Ireland, oh, and I read all three books of Frank McCourt, the husband suddenly stood up and disssapeared in the bookshop. Five minutes later he put “Twenty Years a growing” with a bright smile into my hands and told me, this was a must-read of Irish literature. A wonderful book, offered by strangers.
11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person? Despite my huge dislike towards Christmas, I adore choosing books for friends. Either I try finding pretty copies of well liked stories or try to find little jewels to surprise them.
12. Which book has been with you to the most places? My sketch book Gosick by Kazuki Sakuraba
13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later? A lot of Dorste-Hülshoff and “Der Elkönig” - they came up all the time, as if no other poets existed even toguh these aren’t bad poems on themselves. Otherwise I still hold on on my opinions I had about my liked and disliked books.
14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book? A pressed foxglove.
15. Used or brand new? For textbooks I am glad if I can get them second hand for a way cheaper price but for books I earnestly want to keep for my small library, I prefer them in a good shape (the former ownership is secondary, though).
16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses? I didn’t read much of his works. Some are well written, he's an outstanding figure in his genre but it isn’t like he invented the literature wheel a second time.
17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book? [Sopiler!] Stardust! I should be cnflicted as Neil Gaiman’s original has of course a more profound moral but how could I resist Rober De Niro as drag pritate and Michelle Pfeiffer as evil witch?
18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid? Dune by Frank Herbert! The topics in these books are happening too intensely on a mental level, characters struggling mostly with inner conflict, most of the story happens in the character’s heads - even for great actors, transporting entire theological, philosophical, and politcal conflicts is impossible to express with facial expression alone. The neverending story by Micharel Ende, what a disgrace. A Song of Ice and Fire, nothing against the actors but the script and essential plotlines are shite. Harry Potter but from a personal estimation as the imagination faded with the movies
19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?Any book with an oppulent feast scene. Perhaps one was an Agatha Christie novel taking place at a Christmas dinner table.
20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take? My guitar teacher, one of the most sophisticated people I had the chance to meet. Then a friend of mine looking and acting like a junior professor. And last but not least @sophoclesbowtie !
This has been grand fun so Inpass on to: @valentinevilleforts , @sophoclesbowtie , @21st-century-flapper , @janiedean , @robb-greyjoy , @lordhellebore , @onbanksofanamelessriver @princegrisejoie , @mrs-storm-andrews , @proskenion04

STATE OF THE BLOG: Thesis Time, Time’s Running Out, and the Return of Steph’s fic about Stephanie Brown
Hey guys! I head back to school tomorrow so I guess it’s time to do another one of these things. Under the cut for a discussion of my schedule and upcoming projects!
Not gonna lie guys, all of this might be kaput. I’ve got a senior thesis to write this semester, and my adviser has promised to kick my ass. But I have hopes!
Deprivation is a wrap for now, which I’m stunned by because I wrote 21k of that universe in a little over 2 months. Feeling pretty good there honestly!
Smut week starts tomorrow which will see the posting of two entries; one from the Scrubs AU 5+1 series, and a snippit from the upcoming LRS rewrite.
Time’s Running Out is going to be taking top priority now. I’m aiming for every-other-week updates. We just wrapped part 1 and introduced the expanded villain cast, so I’ve got a lot to work with and am super excited to share what I’ve got planned with you guys.
But honestly, when have I ever only worked on one thing at once?
Between chapters I’ll probably have a few one-shots to post; I’ve dug up an old Cassandra Cain AU that is promising to be good and long, and my friend Alix had a request for Robin!Steph that tied in nicely to an old scrapped idea of mine. Don’t worry RvB readers, I’m not ditching you yet. I’ve got the Firefly AU still rolling out, and a few other ideas that have been sidelined for a while. I’ll be playing catch-up on old ideas for as long as possible (I’ve got some more Donut Sibs, plus a few other odd AUs). Clear out the barn, so to speak
When I’m about 3/4s done with TRO, I’m going to be officially taking down Long Remembered Shadows from Ao3. The chapters will remain on Tumblr, but not Ao3. I’m then going to be relaunching the series. York’s plotline ended up being used in TRO, so he’s become superfluous as a POV character. It’s going to be Tex and Connnie centric now. I’ve also added in plans for a Tex/Connie romance, because those two grew on me unexpectedly during my break from that fic.
Of course I’ll also be doing the Reverse Big Bang!
Who knows how much of this will be done by the next time I do this though lol. Keep an eye on my writing agenda page for updates!

Sexualising Fruit...
I came across an artist called Stephanie Sarley. She picked up on the popularity of making fruit sexual and made a killing out of it. She has now had 3 exhibitions and has grown her Instagram following and now currently has 398,000 followers. The reason this particular artist inspired me was because my consumer profile likes a little risk and enjoys being risky and flirtatious. They like to party and do not take them self seriously.
So, I thought if I could make a ‘scent’ around fruit and bring a sexual and flirty vibe I would be hitting my consumer exactly on target. The fact they love the ‘no makeup, make up look’, which means they do take care of their skin and appearance but don’t want to give the impression of doing so, skin care would be perfect. And to make that fit in with my assigned brief ‘scent’ I would make the skin care fruity…
Sexualising fruit has been a big trend for the past couple of years. And I think this type of raunchy, unusual art fits in with the LRS consumer perfectly. Which is why for my scented face mask I want to pick fruit to be the scent.
With it being a scent brief, the only options for my scented face mask would either be a perfumed face mask, a flower-scented face mask or a fruit scented face mask. But coming across Stephanie Sarley, I have come to the conclusion that I want to pick fruit as I feel like I can really play on the fruit aspect when designing a mock-up of the product and make it fit towards the consumer.

What is Piperine? The secret component in Black Pepper Extract
Piperine is the active component of black pepper and is responsible for the pungent smell and flavour of the spice.[1] It occurs in pepper at a concentration of around 5 – 10%. As a dietary supplement, Piperine is well-known for its ability to inhibit a process called glucuronidation, where enzymes in the liver add a chemical tag to foreign substances to mark them for excretion.
By preventing glucuronidation and by increasing the time taken to pass through the intestines, Piperine helps to improve the bioavailability of many dietary supplements. It is never a good idea to use Piperine with medication because of how it affects metabolism in the liver.
A Brief History of Pepper
Black pepper has been used by human societies for at least 4000 years, with the earliest recordings of its use occurring in India.[2] Importantly, the lost city of Muziris in the Indian region of Kerala is frequently mentioned in history books as an important place for the export of pepper.[3] Even thousands of years ago, black pepper was a frequently traded commodity and may even have been used as a form of currency in some cultures.
In ancient Egypt, black peppercorns were found in the nostrils of the mummified pharaoh Ramesses II.[4] It had been used in Greek and Roman cultures since around 30 BCE, where it was a highly valuable spice and was probably only available to the very wealthy.[5] In China, black pepper has been used for around two thousand years, although it was originally called ‘foreign pepper’ because China has its own unique species of pepper.
In terms of its use in traditional and folk medicine, records go back to around the 5th century, where it was believed to cure a large number of illnesses, including constipation, insomnia, abscesses, sunburn and toothaches, among others.[6] Some historians note that pepper was used to cure ailments of the eyes, by pouring remedies made from pepper directly into the eyes – a painful and ineffective medicine to say the least!
In modern times, black pepper is the world’s most traded spice and is common to dishes from every corner of the Earth. Vietnam is the world’s greatest producer of black pepper, producing around 34% of the global supply, with other major producers including Indonesia, India, and Brazil.[7] Recent interest in the nutritional qualities of black pepper has sparked a new wave of scientific research into its properties. Black pepper contains moderate concentrations of vitamin K, iron, manganese,[8] and - of course – Piperine!
What is Piperine? How it works in the body.
Piperine is the active biochemical component in Black pepper and was first isolated in 1819 by a scientist called Hans Christian Ørsted. [9]Although Piperine isn’t known for its benefits when taken alone, it is very useful for increasing the absorption and uptake of a variety of dietary supplements, especially Curcumin and green tea catechins.[10] It is known to increase the bioavailability of curcumin by up to 2000%![11]
So, this extract from the Piper nigrum spice is best used to improve the bioavailability of dietary supplements and other compounds that are usually difficult for the body to absorb. Piperine works to improve the absorption and uptake of dietary supplements in two key ways:
Click the icon to purchase high-quality Piperine
Inhibits phase 2 detoxification enzymes in the liver.[12] These enzymes are responsible for a biochemical process called ‘glucuronidation’, in which a chemical ‘tag’ is added to a foreign substance, which marks it and tells the liver to excrete it in urine. By preventing this ‘tagging’ process, Piperine allows supplements like curcumin and green tea catechins to be absorbed by the body before they’re removed by the liver.
Slows the rate of intestinal transit. This means that supplements spend a long time in the intestines, giving them more time to be better absorbed.[13] At larger serving sizes, there is evidence that Piperine can induce the secretion of more gastric acid, further assisting absorption in the intestines.[14]
Best Supplements to use with Piperine?
Since Piperine helps to increase the bioavailability of supplements, a natural question is: ‘what are the best supplements to take with Piperine?’. Unfortunately, not that many dietary supplements have been scientifically tested to see how much better they are absorbed when taken with Piperine. However, any supplement that is water soluble and that is metabolised in the liver should, theoretically, have an improved bioavailability when taken with black pepper extract.
Our list of the top supplements to take with Piperine includes:
Baicalin
A powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory dietary supplement that helps to promote a healthy circulatory system and can be used for improved vitality, relaxation and well-being.
Green tea extract
A very powerful antioxidant supplement long known for its benefits on human health. Green tea is widely considered the world’s healthiest drink, and the potent active components help to strengthen the circulatory system and support a healthy metabolism.
Berberine HCl
Berberis aristrata extract has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries, and recent clinical studies point to powerful anti-inflammatory effects. It is a great overall health-promoting supplement.
Magnolia Bark Extract
The extract from the bark of the Magnolia tree contains the alkaloids Magnolol and Honokiol, which both have powerful effects in the body. It helps to promote a calm, relaxed state of mind and to reduce stress.
Curcumin
Curcumin or turmeric extract is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant phytochemical and is one of the active components of the Balinese health tonic Jamu, which is used to promote good health.
Warnings when Using Piperine
When taken at the recommended serving size, there is little evidence of any side effects from black pepper extract. Bear in mind though, it is a highly potent natural plant extract and should be taken responsibly. What is Piperine? Conclusion.
In summary, Piperine is the key active compound in black pepper extract. Black pepper has been used for thousands of years as a spice and has a long history of use in traditional and folk medicine from around the world.
When taken as a dietary supplement, Piperine is best known for its ability to help improve the bioavailability of certain supplements. It prevents the action of detoxifying enzymes in the liver and may increase the time taken for supplements to pass through the intestines, allowing greater ability for absorption.
Piperine should never be used with medication since it has the potential to alter the way that medication is absorbed in the body. It is important to consult your doctor if you are pregnant, nursing, or have any underlying medical conditions, before using this supplement.
