Some albums where really made to tell a story. A lot of older albums very much so (Pink Floyd is the forever example, or some of the massive prog albums like Tarkus be E.L.P.) but also a lot of more recent ones. If you're not into "dad rock" a must listen to contemporary album IMHO (Especially because you're on the queersite) is In Love With A Ghosts Album Healing. Its 17 minutes of story in sound.

There are some exceptions, of course. There has been a surge of one-hit wonder albums sold through viral tiktoks, where there's the one song people like and 9 that sound completely different and theres nothing to tie them together.

But overall. Try just listening to a whole album sometime. Its quite a good ride.

this is actually my first ever dr. ive had a huge undertale hyperfixation (1-3 years) and i basically made an oc which was a self insert. it was also my first ever lore which was super complicated idk how 7 year old me thought of it. when i was 9 i accidentally manifested that what happened to frisk would happen to me, i didnt know what was shifting or manifestation i just wrote down the same thing about 100 times while believing in it a lot. guess it worked with a 7 years delay because now im shifting there! i dont know how it will go but i see a happy "ending" with the monsters living with me n frisk at the surface cause WHY TF NOT.

Matryoshka Doll & Wooden Soldiers (WIP title)

— A Nutcracker Retelling

Genre: Fairytale retelling, adult fiction, speculative fiction.

Setting: Wintery, early 19th century Germany, Russia & other culturally-inspired fantasy settings with a touch of steampunk.

Summary: Clara Stahlbaum is forced to prematurely shelf her ballet career after a severe injury. Feeling lost and alone, the former ballerina leaves the comfort of her home in the countryside to visit the city and help her godfather run his toy shop while she recovers from her mental strife. After encountering a peculiar stranger with wooden hands who speaks of a fairy that can undo all injuries and ailments, Clara is pulled into a plot of curses, tragedy and lost personhood.

Themes: Identity & self worth, loss of humanity, defying fate, vengeance and repressed emotions, hints of unhinged womanhood if you squint.

Introduction & Context

Matryoshka Doll & Wooden Soldiers is a retelling and slight reconstruction of the beloved story The Nutcracker & the Mouse King, taking partial inspiration from the ballet, but is otherwise mostly based on Hoffmann’s original 1816 novel! I’ve been deeply infatuated with this story ever since I watched the animated movie by GoodTimes Entertainment (please tell me someone else watched this as a kid) and the Barbie version when I was little. I’ve since read the original book and been wanting to reconstruct the story into something new! Everything in this post is very much a WIP and subject to change as I develop the story, as it’s still in its first draft!

Inspirations & Vibes

Tchaikovsky’s music and the ballet (naturally), powdered snow, sweet Turkish delight, hot steam from the locomotive swirling in the crisp winter air, scent of gingerbread and mulled wine with cinnamon, winter wonderlands and peppermint candy canes, pastel baroque & rococo aesthetics, white marble with specks of blood, loss of humanity and sense of self, tragic romance, whimsical inventions, old fashioned toy shops filled with wonder, out of tune music box and other antique trinkets, freshly baked Berliner buns, the gritty and dark hiding beneath the prim and proper, prickling fingers on thorns while picking berries.

Main Characters

Clara Stahlbaum (23) she/her

Burnt out gifted kid filled with longing and passions she can no longer pursue, a romantic posing as a cynic to protect her feelings, loves messing with little trinkets and antiques and is kinda a nerd.

Hans Peter (25) he/him

Stoic, intellectualises his feelings, detached yet slightly vain, charming until you realise he’s not aloof for allure’s sake he’s just kinda socially awkward, but hey maybe that’s charming to some.

Godfather Drosselmeyer (52) he/him

Eccentric, mischievous, a bit sketchy but people brush him off as just a quirky old man, secretive, knows a lot and yet literally no one in the city knows anything about him he just showed up one day.

I might make a deep dive post about these characters to go into their psychology and development if that’s something people would be interested in! Deconstructing a character’s psyche is one of my favourite aspects of writing and I’d love to be able to share it. Also I know this seems very heteronormative as a story but I promise there are queer themes brewing beneath the surface here I would die otherwise.

On the day Chief went to see Zelda to receive his formal train conductor license, the young Princess Zelda begged his aid. They were ambushed on their way to check on the Temple of Spirits, and Chief travelled with Zelda’s spirit to reunite her with her body. They banished Malladus with the help of the Lokomo scattered across the land, but at severe cost for Zelda’s health. Chief stayed by her side for several years, helping the healers and engineers learn the tracks he’d rebuilt before Zelda threw him out to take a break once she was stable again. While at sea, his ship was forced to stop in a country whose Princess was cursed by an evil witch. With the aid of two other heroes past their own quests, they are victorious and all return safely home. Chief trains as a healer himself, but only a few years later he’s dragged through a portal into a massive, on going war in a world not his own alongside someone he met before in Hytopia who does not know him yet. He sees the war through and returns home, exhausted, to a life handling more the mundane, familiar problem of his trains.

Chief is passionate about his work both as a mechanic and a trained healer. He can come across as strict or standoffish if someone catches him in the middle of a task or who is being unsafe, but he relaxes into being very playful and goofy. He likes people, and likes to be helpful, and does his best to get along with everyone which often works surprisingly well for him.

Chief speaks when required, rambles when stressed, and is silent when comfortable. He is literate, and knows some sign language from his time in Hytopia. Glossed as BSL.

Chief is demisexual, and would not consider someone interesting unless they are as into trains or similar as he is. He is going to have a moment at some point with Hateno.

im suddenly going feral over screwtio at 2am. is there anyone out there who can not only match but actually exceed my freak bc it's been like years since i last touched this comic series and i never finished it and i got so god damn confused by everything in it but i desperately need a girl genius au for this ship.

as far as i can remember the whole series is about insanely genius mad scientists and uh. aristocracy. and what happens when mad scientists are forced to have to do aristocratic things like rule a kingdom and get along with people. there's also just. you know. like 90% of it being wildly insane shit. don't focus on that, focus on the emphasis of the "mad" in "mad scientist" and look at the cool robots and steampunk aesthetics.

what im getting at is uh. no coherent thoughts, only the idea of letting veritas be more insane and smooch robots. im mashing the two of them together like barbie dolls.
