13. Do you think the Fire Nation would allow Zuko’s heir to become Firelord if they were a waterbender?
Actually, this question is hard to answer, because I do have the same question in my head 🤯
But in my opinion, one element can't be the leader of the other elements, especially for the Fire Nation which has a royal order, except they changed the constitution. Non-bender is fine, though, because they kind of neutral.
If Zuko and Katara's firstborn is a waterbender, he/she will be an heir of Southern Water Tribe after Sokka and Suki's children. He/she still Prince or Princess of the Fire Nation, but he/she can't be a Fire Lord. They will waiting for firebender/non-bender children, because an heir to the throne doesn't have to be the eldest.
(In canon, Ozai is second child and Izumi has not been confirmed to be a firebender)
In my headcanon, after Zuko and Katara married, the sages asked them to immediately give the nation a firebender heir, since the Fire Nation have no heir at the moment. It took time for Zuko to convince the sages and his ministers to accept a non-bender heir, but they can't accept a waterbender heir because it would break the balance.
Zuko and Katara really want to raise a family, no matter if their children will be firebenders or waterbenders, or even non-benders. But they also understand that giving the nation an heir is one of their responsibility.
Fortunately, Kya, their firstborn is a firebender. Kya became the heir of the Fire Nation immediately since she can make sparks. Well, it seems too coincidental, right? But, not really.
As I know, bending is gene. Zuko has dominant firebending gene from his family, while Katara has a weak waterbending gene (all of her family are non-benders). So, most likely they will have a firebender children.
Kazan (the second child) is non-bender because both Zuko and Katara have non-bender gene (Fire Lord Sozin's sister, Zeisan, is a non-bender and I think Roku's wife, Ta min, also a non-bender). While Izumi (the third child) is waterbender from Katara's gene.
But, how if they only have waterbender children? Actually the possibility is very small, but if it does happen, well, I don't know, I let the sages and Zuko as the Fire Lord think about their own problem.
Do you have other opinion/headcanon about this? I would like to know! 😊

Steambaby time again!!!
This one's akiak!! (Or aki for short) and he is Sakari's younger, "cooler" brother. He's named after his great grandfather on his mother's side
Here's his deal:
- he's fun and social, noble, and charismatic
- bisexual mess, his lovelife is a waking nightmare
- he is the general of the united republics armed forces, and is considered young for his rank
- he can be very, very overly emotional
- he is somehow selfless and very self-absorbed
- he cuts his hair to be trendy and zuko hates it
Also in my au's timeline he replaces iroh ii in tlok

Some Sokkla family headcannons because this ship has been stuck in my head for a good week
They live in the Southern Water Tribes (STW) and Sokka has eventually succeeded his father as chief.
They have two children: A son named Haku (Spirited away reference? I don't know what you're talking about...) and a daughter named Lykka.
Haku is a waterbender and Lykka a firebender.
Haku looks very similar to his father. Though, his eyes and facial expressions are all Azula'.
Lykka's skin is darker than Azula's but still a bit lighter than her father's. Her hair is black but wavy (same hair texture than Katara). Her eyes shape is round like Sokka but the colour is gold.
Azula's favorite cloth from the STW is the Amauti. I just know that she is the kind of mother who would carry her children everywhere with her until they can walk, so she would absolutely adore these.
Ironically for a man who loves his sleep, Sokka insisted to be the one who wake up when the kids were babies. He would only bring them to Azula if it was because they wanted to eat. Because of his responsabillities, especially at the beginning of his chiefhood, it was his moment to be able to solely focus on bonding with and taking care of his children. Plus, Azula wakes up very early in the morning, so it let her rest and sleep.
To no one's surprise, considering who their parents are, the siblings favorite pass time is to prank their uncle Zuzu when they see him. They are sillies in general.
Sokka insisted they learn, at least the basics of, weilding weapons. In case something happens and they can't rely on their bending. Haku can be frequently seen fighting or hunting with an ice-coated halberd. Lykka, on the other hand, preferred dual broadswords. Thing is, in good uncle fashion, Zuko taught her some fun tricks combining the swords and firebending. She once almost burned her hair and the house while juggling fire with the swords. Oops....
Sokka taught them a lot of manual skills in general. I just know it in my bones that, in a Modern AU, he would be the kind of dad to put a mechanical drill in his toddler's hands.
At each of the kid's first full moon, Sokka took them outside to present them to Yue. They're the only kids in the world that can brag about having the Moon Spirit as their godmother.

Do you have headcanons for Fire Lord Ursa?
Largely based off of @muguathepapaya headcanons
She has a great knowledge of the world trade system, having served as a White Lotus informative so this helps greatly with reformation and rebuilding the FN economy.
Very straight to the point and no nonsense.
Picked up some self-defense skills from her banishment era which helped against assassins.
Established help centers and shelters for those facing abuse and homelessness.
Reforms the asylums and gets Azula actual help. They don't quite make up, but Azula and the other girls aren't abused there anymore.
Personally taught Katara Imperial Fire Tongue so she could navigate the courts better. (Once around the sun reference)
Once Zuko takes the throne, Ursa stays in the Fire Nation and manages the shelters. (And takes cares of the steambabies when the parents are too busy/tired.)

what are your zutara headcanons? do you think zuko or katara would develop feelings first? who would make the first move? how would aang and mai react? what would their wedding be like? how many children would they have? would they have boys or girls?
Oh I love asks like these ❤️
I think Zuko would fall in love first, but Katara would make the first move. He would have an admiration for her spirit and fighting abilities even as enemies; Zuko himself doesn’t realize what he’s feeling is a crush until it hits him one day and he loses his mind. Katara falls in love with his softer side, and I like to imagine she impulsively kisses him while healing him during his recovery from Azula’s lightning. She’s embarrassed and apologetic until Zuko admits her doing that was his dream come true.
As for reactions, I think Aang would be furious at first but get over it eventually, though part of him would never want to let Katara go. Mai would be a lot more reasonable; she’d be bummed, but ultimately view her and Zuko’s relationship as a fun teenage fling that she’s ready to move on from as well.
I think Zuko and Katara would hate two weddings. He’s the Fire Lord, so they’d have to have a huge, ostentatious wedding with people from all over the world, because royalty and politics. However, I think they would also want a smaller, more intimate wedding with just friends and family at the Southern Water Tribe. Zuko and Katara consider this their true wedding.
As for my steambaby headcanons, I think they would have two (spare Katara’s poor body, I beg). I like the idea of them both being girls: Izumi (a nonbender) and Kya (a waterbender).

Any steambaby headcanons?
I don't spend a ton of time thinking about Katara and Zuko's kids, but actually do have a run down of the 5 kids I see them having (the last two were unexpected and twins), and one or two other posts about their dynamics. Unfortunately, since I wrote it at least 2 years ago, and Tumblr would rather waste their time trying to look like Twitter instead of fixing their archive feature, I can't find it. I won't be able to recreate it exactly, and I don't really want to try. If someone happens to stumble on any of my steambaby headcanon posts, please, puh-lease interact so they'll show up in my notifs, and I can try to aggregate them. I don't think there's more than 4 of those posts.
I will, however give you a fresh headcanon, hot from the oven of my mind. It's not specifically about the steambaby in question, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
Everyone thought that Zuko would be the one who was afraid of becoming a parent- and he did have a few pretty good freakouts- but what caught everyone off guard was Katara being afraid of parenthood. Half-way through her pregnancy, she began having these intense dreams of her mother, and how well Kya took care of her, and worse, how well she would've taken care of her had she not died, and Katara became certain that she wouldn't be able to live up to that. She doesn't tell any one. They've all been telling her for years at this point what a naturally mothering person she is- and not always as a compliment- and she knows she wouldn't be able to take them "paying lip service". So, her insecurities fester until one day, towards the end of her pregnancy, Zuko finds her sobbing in their bathroom. He freaks out, but then pulls it together, because his wife is in need of some serious bucking up. He finally gets her to tell him what's been bothering her, but instead of laughing off her fears and assuring her that she's going to be the best mother in the world, he sits with her and tells her he completely understands why she's afraid. Then he tells her just what she told him- that they were going to make mistakes, lots of mistakes as parents, but that ultimately, they already loved this child and that was all that mattered in the end. Then he goes on to remind her what a terrific job she did with Aang, Toph and Sokka, and that despite everything they went through, they were remarkably well adjusted, mostly due to her efforts. Everything isn't 100% okay after that, but Katara calms down enough to leave the bathroom. She still has her insecurities about motherhood, but she's now even more sure that she made the right choice of a father for her kids.

Hey do you have any steambaby headcanons?
Ok I had to look up what steambaby was because I had no clue what it was when I saw this. So, I BELIEVE it’s Zuko and Katara’s kid??? If I’m wrong, please let me know. Without further ado, here are some headcanons I am coming up with on the spot and spitballing.
• their first child’s name is Kya. I’ve seen some versions of steambaby where her name is Izumi, but I believe because of the name Kya’s sentimental value, they would name their firstborn after her first, then Izumi if they had a second.
• Avatar bending physics are terrible because two nonbenders can have a bender, two benders can have a non-bender and etc. so, I now head canon that their child is actually an earth bender and Toph trains the hell out of her
• She has such a fiery personality (I’m thinking like Lily from modern family but with more emotion) to the point that by the time she reaches 11, she’s having rap battles with Toph and Azula (who has been redeemed)
• She’s Gay
• she has a perfect gaydar
• she figures out Sokka’s gay before he does
• Her temper knows no bounds and neither do her time-outs
• She once went an entire month where she got grounded each day.
• She hates pickles
• Azula loves being called Aunt Azula and adores little Kya but Sokka feels like being called uncle Sokka makes him feel old so he gave her a goofy asf nickname to call him so he could feel young. (This nickname is what made Kya realize he was gay)

My latest obsession is Zutara and I have a sweet steambaby headcanon to share.
So, when I watched Legend of Korra, the favouritism with Aang and Katara’s kids bugged the hell out of me (oldest sister here with a favourited younger brother by father too) and I thought of a cool fix it. Zutara edition.
I like the idea that they have three kids. Kaya, the oldest, is a fire bender. Lu Ten is the middle child and only boy and is a non bender. Izumi is the youngest and is a waterbender.
My headcanon is that, practicing sparring or bending is a family affair. Even before any of the kids display bending abilities, every time Katara and Zuko spar, the kids watch. It’s considered family time. But then, even when Kya and Izumi start bending, they still learn with the whole family there. And that’s also when Zuko teaches Lu Ten sword fighting (cause that makes too much sense)
For me, it fixes two issues I have with the canon. First being that children would be spending more quality and special time with one parent. That is what we saw cause issues with Aang doing that with Tenzin and it would fix it. It allows them to also all learn together and support each other and to get support from both parents. I think it creates a healthier family dynamic and ensures that non benders are also included.
The second issue it fixes is that there is value in learning from the other bending styles. It’s really made a point with lighting redirection in the original show, but never mentioned in LOK. That’s odd, cause Iroh says it can make someone a more powerful bender. Not to mention how well it fits with Zutara: both of their last bending moves in the original show being something they learned from the other’s culture.
I just liked that and wanted to share.

I’m just so in love with the idea that Zuko and Katara refuse to let their kids be mostly raised by nurses & maids, so instead their kids go to meetings with them until they’re old enough to watch themselves.
They end up getting really good at multitasking: feeding/burping/changing/etc. all while being able to talk about policy and whatnot (and yes, sometimes they talk about taxes in a baby voice to entertain the infant).

12. What are your steambaby headcanons?
Fire Lord Zuko and First Lady Katara's steambabies :
Princess Kya (14), the leader - a fire bender, an heir of the Fire Nation. She has golden eyes and light brown skin. She is just, brave, determine, and sometimes mischievous.
Headcanons :
Zuko teaches Kya fire bending in every martial-style bending. She isn't surprised her father teaches her water-styles more than other styles.
Zuko teaches Kya how to redirect lightning in honour to her beloved grand-uncle Iroh.
Azula (after her redemption arc) is very close to Kya because her niece has talents and badass like her.
Azula teaches Kya how to direct lightning and she learns it quickly. 'I doubt you're your father's daughter, it took him years to do that," is Azula's way to compliment her.
Just like her father, Kya secretly learns fire bender from the source. One day, Zuko and Katara accidentally sees Kya doing the dragon dance with his dragon, Druk, and amazed by that.
Prince Kazan (12), the protector - a non-bender, the youngest master dual swords. He has golden eyes and light brown skin. He is strong, smart, tactical, and eager to learn any weapons. Kazan (火山) means volcano in Japanese.
Headcanons :
Kazan has very similar face and gesture to young Zuko, except his skin is darker.
Kazan feels insecure when found out that his two sisters are benders and he's not. Katara is the one who notices his anxiety first and asks Zuko to cheer him up.
Zuko encourage him that he doesn't need to be a fire or water bender to be a great leader. Zuko also shows Kazan his dual swords skill, tells him that weapon skills are very useful at any time.
Zuko himself who teaches Kazan dual swords techniques until he mastered it at young age. This is in my head how Zuko teaches Kazan :
After Kazan mastering dual swords, he start learns other weapons, especially water tribe weapons from Hakoda and Sokka. Dual swords still his main weapon and he still practising it.
Kazan often reminds Zuko of his childhood, sometimes it brings back to his past trauma. Zuko feels afraid that he will act like his father to his children, especially his non-bender son. Katara always reminds Zuko that he is not the same as his father at all. He is always a good father to them.
Princess Izumi (8), the healer - a water bender, a young peacemaker. She has ocean eyes and pale skin. She is calm and quiet, has a kind heart and motherly.
Headcanons :
Izumi is very close to her mother, Katara. She's almost always by her side.
Izumi has motherly nature combination of her two grandmothers, Ursa and Kya. She's quiet but wise and very intelligent.
Izumi often being a peacemaker when her sister and brother quarrel, most often because Kya playing prank on Kazan.
Katara teaches Izumi how to fight and heal, but Izumi is more interested in healing. She has excellent talents in healing.
Izumi not only a healer, she also has talent as a herbalist like Ursa. She learn herbalist almost herself. She can make poison, but prefers to use her abilities to make cure.
Years later when she turn 18, she become a good fighter and best at healing. She secretly learn blood-bending and use it to heal (only Kya and Kazan know about it).
Nb :
I thought about swapping Kya and Izumi just like in canon-TLOK, but I stick with my first HC in result, because I always imagined badass firebender Kya and calm intelligent water-bender Izumi.
I only wrote down good things about steambabies, I still haven't thought about their weaknesses.
These are my original headcanons. Every Zutara shipper allowed to use it into fanarts, fanfics, or add another headcanons, but please let me know and credit me ❤️💙

Hiii! I dropped by on accident and found out your avatar headcanons and OCs so so nice
I gotta ask a few curiosities of mine if that's cool? *takes out a notebook and a pen*
- since katara and zuko are a thing, did it make their friendship with aang weird or was he cool with it instantly? And how did it even began for them? Did it followed the show's events? Did Aang even got a crush on Katara?
- What happens to Azula?
- How does all these next gen kids react when Korra shows up? Is it weird, is it fine, is it all the same? I mean, they all knew the previous avatar and he was pretty much their family and all. Tho I think them having their own lives also mean it's not that much of a deal?
- Is Katara still one of Korra's teaching masters?
- Sokka's kids get along?
- Does Tenzin and Bumi eventually get okay with each other?
- Korra still loses her connection to the past avatars and therefore Aang? Do they even talk, like he did to Roku and all?
- do you have any other headcanon or change of other characters from tlok or tloa that you mind sharing? like, a plot from tlok that you think it could be better improved or discarded, or something that happens on your universe and you haven't talked about yet?
Sorry for this such a big of an ask, i really REALLY liked these ideas you had (and your art is also amazing and so awesome and pretty too 💞).
heyyyy anon! sorry for the late reply, i hope you still see this.
First of all, thank you! I love genuine interest in my stuff I never expect it. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy and clever. ALSO thanks for complimenting my art! i'm a slow artist so my blood sweat and tears (mostly tears) are in every drawing !!!
onto answering your questions to the best of my ability:
1) Aang is completely cool with Katara and Zuko's relationship. He's basically their biggest shipper :) He did have a crush on Katara (and Zuko tbh), but he was able to let it go pretty quickly. As the Avatar, after the war he was almost too busy to even be sad about it. Overwhelmingly, he was just happy for his friends
Also, Katara and Zuko get together after the war, when Katara's about 17 and he's about 19. Katara goes to the South Pole and they fall for each other through letters and short visits.
Most show events aren't really taken out for me. Just really the kiss right at the end.
2) Azula has a redemption arc. I like to think of it as being a redemption arc she herself is hardly aware of. She just thinks she's really in the long haul of fooling the gaang into liking her. Her redemption arc starts immediately after the war because Zuko keeps her safe in the palace.
Aang becomes her friend first and encourages everyone else to give her a chance. Sokka provides an outlet for all of her older brother issues, since she and Zuko have an awkward relationship. And Katara is tutored by Azula in Fire Nation etiquette and history so she's better equipped to be Fire Lady.
sorry if this is confusing, but believe it or not this rambling all makes sense to me.
3) Korra is very important to the next gen kids, aang's kids and the zk especially. Her arrival is in the middle of great political conflict that never would have happened if Aang wasn't murdered, so they're eager to get her in on the Avatar business.
My idea with Aang dying so young, is that all of his business is half finished. His kids didn't get real closure for their relationship. So Bumi, Yelaan, Palkyi and Tenzin all have complex feelings toward her. Bumi's in particular are very intense.
Being around Korra FEELS like being in his father's presence, which is hard for him. He doesn't want aang to have been a good person or a good father because then he'd really have to miss and mourn everything he was gone for. but this is a lot and hard for me to say so
the steambabies also need Korra and consider her central. They watched their parents' reactions when Aang died (particularly Zuko), and that has affected them deeply. Sakari has been advised to always follow the avatar, so she's happy to have guidance. Besides, she hopes the Avatar will restore and era of peace since she worries for Bumi and Akiak.
Akiak has changed since Aang died, a lot. In ways he's not always proud of. Facing Korra is somewhat hard for him for that reason. Especially since sometimes she opposes some of his methods. He thinks her way of bringing peace is naive.
Tophs kids (and Tenzin to some extent) are the same :)
4) Yes! Katara is one of her waterbending masters. I feel like when you're an Avatar's Master, that's your role for life. She already knows how to train the Avatar. She, Zuko, and Toph taught Korra in the right order, and are old friends with her. Korra has already met the whole Gaang even if she doesn't see Toph or Zuko as often as she'd like
5) I usually choose not to give Sokka kids. I feel like he doesn't want to be a father (even though he'd definitely be the best at it). He and Suki work too hard and have agreed they just aren't super interested in kids. He and Suki are full time Aunt and Uncle to all of the Next Gen. Now, ive made some OCs for asks and I'd say that they do get along :)
6) Bumi and Tenzin's relationship is ROUGH in this story, but yes, they do. It takes a while but eventually they're only mildly hostile with each other. Tenzin helps Bumi reconnect with Air Nomad culture, and Bumi helps him commune with the spirits better. This is jumpstarted by Korra.
7) Korra does keep communication with her past lives! But her path to being a fully realized Avatar is much more difficult. The decision to raise her in a compound was a mistake, and so her growth as an avatar is severely set back. This means, she speaks to her past lives when they reach out to her (and she's in tune enough to listen). Aang is not easy for her to talk to, but eventually she masters it. She doesn't really tell anyone because she's scared everyone will then only want to talk to aang, not her.
8) First of all: for atla, i write very particular cultures and geographies to expand the universe. They affect things in only minor ways for the most part in atla. Also, Aang is trans. I love it too much for it to not be true (if youre wondering how he had kids he made deals with spirits)
Now for tlok. In my opinion, it's very necessary for the different conflicts to not have clear starts and ends. These should all be interweaving conflicts that everyone's caught in the middle of. Not only does this facilitate a lot more character interactions, but it also builds stress and feels realistic.
Mako and Bolin are former triad members and pro athletes, they should be rougher around the edges. Also, Mako would NEVER EVER become a cop after seeing the direct damage they cause marginalized communities. I think that perspective would be very important for korra as an avatar.
Season two plotlines should just be a civil war between north and south. Tbh, I'm not digging all of the subtle ways the north takes over the south, and I imagine the south isn't either. They separated from the north for a reason, and then during the war, the north didn't even help them. The tensions were rising and Aang never came up with a good long term solution when he was alive, and that affects Korra.
Season three's plotline can mostly stay the same except there is no harmonic convergence that introduces new airbenders. The airbenders are the group that they are. They're travelling the earth kingdoms doing peace talks since much of the earth kingdoms don't want to be under ba sing se. Particularly the Si Wong Desert. Aang was in active peace talks when died and was never able to come up with a long term solution.
Season four is also mostly the same except no mechs or spirit nukes.
All the while the equalists are raging on at home.
ANYWAY. thanks for the ask! I hope you see this after i posted it SOOOO late.
See the pattern? Korra must fill aang's shoes while also dealing with all of his unfinished business. Every character serves a unique perspective that helps inform korras decisions.
I dont think these ideas are perfect and the only way to write Korra, but I think they make sense. They help tell a story Im more interested in.

do you have any headcanons for the dunebabies (toph and aang's kids)?
Hello Anon!
Thank you so much for sending an ask - as you can tell I absolutely love talking about Taang and everything related to them. I especially love talking about the dunebabies and how they'd handle parenting!
Ok, as I previously stated in a past post, I really think Toph and Aang would have a very big family - about five to six kids. It comes in part because of Aang's burden of repopulating the Air Temples and keeping his culture alive. But I just genuinely believe that Toph and Aang are such a good team and couple that they take the challenge of raising a large family, test their communication, relationship and love.
They have 3 girls (one earthbender, two airbenders) and 3 boys (one earthbenders and two airbenders);
Their first-born son, at the ripe age of two, sneezes twelve feet into the air - scaring his mother as she momentarily lost "sight" of her boy; his father, on the other hand, cried with thrill with the notion he was no longer the last living proof of the Air Nomads;
Their first three children are all airbenders. Toph loves them more than she'll ever be able to put into words, but a part of her does fear that her earthbending genetics would not pass onto her children. Thankfully, their fourth child, a beautiful girl, at one, whilst throwing a temper tantrum, cracked their living room wall.
All their children are menaces - they either adopted their mother's humor and confidence, or inherited their father's mischievous and playful personality. They're kind and respectful children, but, just like their parents when they were young, they love having fun and goofing off;
Toph loves parenthood, adores being a mother. It's something she had once believed ill-suited her and she'd worried she lacked the nurturing, soft, gentle touch that came naturally to Katara and Suki. Despite everyone's concerns, Toph is an amazing mom. Laidback and carefree but strict when need be; she gives her children the freedom her own parents had denied her but always keeping a close, protective "eye" to guarantee their safety; she plays with the kids, tells them bedside stories of her adventures with Aang, suffocates them with tender love and care (love and care exclusively reserved for her family). Aang never once doubted her.
Aang would take all his kids to the Air Temples - earthbenders and airbenders alike - he took great pride in teaching them his culture, his values and morals, his history. He'd promised Toph he wouldn't force the Air Nomad lifestyle on his kin, unless they showed interest in pursuing it; additionally, Toph had made it clear that if he ever showed any sigh of favoritism for his airbending children, she'd terminate the Avatar Cycle with him - it was a threat he had taken seriously (though Aang would never neglect his two little earthbenders, he loved all their kids equally);
The kids adore teasing and pranking Toph because of her blindness - especially her airbending boys. They had found great joy in airbending their way out of her sight to escape punishment - so much so, that she had crafted little metal bracelets for all her children so she could keep tabs on their whereabouts (and so they wouldn't surprise her into an early grave);
The dunebabies love their uncles and aunts - and when accompanied by the steambabies and bladebabies... chaos and mayhem is certain. It doesn't help that the two youngest members of the Gaang enjoy causing their friends just as much stress as their children - many a times, Aang and Toph would join all the children in terrorizing the Fire Palace Staff or pissing their parents off;
Instead of having a permanent home - they have little homes in every nation due to Aang's Avatar duties. However, once the children grow old enough to go to school, cultivate friendships and need that stability - Aang and Toph agree that a forever home was long overdue. They eventually settle to reside within a calm town just on the outskirts of Republic City;
Toph eventually reforms the old Dai Li into Republic City's law enforcers. Balancing motherhood with her professional life was no easy feat, however, she and Aang had always worked in perfect harmony. So, when she needed to be present at work to teach metalbending, Aang would be at home caring for the kids; When Aang needed to leave for Peace Summits, Political Events and other Avatar duties, Toph would step in. They were always a team and because of that their kids never once had to be alone or without a parental figure.
Despite the odds, Aang and Toph raise their children beautifully and their a happy family, imperfect yet wonderful.

Revised Steambabies headcanons (plus Azula Redemption)
About 3 years after getting married, Zuko and Katara had their first child, Izumi. She looked just like Ursa except with blue eyes and wavy hair like Katara’s. Izumi was clearly a waterbender, which raised concern on who would take the throne. Times were slowly getting better, but the Sages and Nobles still refused to have a waterbender on the Fire Throne. Nonetheless Zuko and Katara fought hard for their daughter to keep her birthright.
About three years later, when Katara was heavily pregnant with their second child, a coup takes place and an assassin made an attempt on Izumi's life. Zuko saved her but Izumi's eye was cut badly, leaving a permanent scar. Cruelly in the same place as Zuko’s scar; something Zuko never truly forgave himself for.
After escaping, the royal couple sought help from June and her apprentice in training Mai. Commotion happens. They retake the palace just in time for Kya's arrival. She's identical to Azula with rich brown skin like her mother.
With the recent coup and new daughter, Zuko is spurred to visit his twin sister. Upon arriving at the asylum, Zuko discovered the abuse going on there. He fired the staff, got the girls actual help, and brought Azula to her old room in the palace.
Azula was not fairing well after years of abuse in the asylum. She was malnutritioned, head shaved, and mute. Nothing the royal couple did helped. Not until Kya, now a toddler, sneaked in and showed Azula her flames. The next day, Azula was gone. No amount of searching could find her.
Life goes on. The gaang find Ursa who was thrilled to meet her granddaughters.
Tensions rose as Kya's firebending grew and formed a rivalry with Izumi. Not nearly as bad as Zuko and Azula’s but it was still there, which greatly worried Zuko. Katara oftened played mediator and ensured the girls got along for the most part. The parents taught the girls both waterbending and firebending and encouraged them to learn from each other.
Years later, when Zuko and Aang are summoned back to the Sun Warriors temple to pick up the dragon egg, they find Azula alive and well. She had been accepted into the tribe and was in a much better mental state. The siblings make up, but Azula refused to return to the Fire Nation. She asked Zuko to keep her fate secret but gave letters addressed to Mai and Ty Lee. Zuko promised to deliver them.
When the girls were 10 and 8, Katara had a surprise pregnancy. The surprise furthered when the baby turned out to be twins! No one picked up on it because their heartbeats were in sync with each other.
Iris and Iroh II both greatly resembled Katara except with purple eyes, which is a rare blue-eyed mutation. Both are nonbenders. Despite being identical, the twins' personalities couldn't be more different. While Iris was extroverted and took a liking to weapons, Iroh II was more introverted and preferred reading Ursa’s plant books.
Zuko had the hardest time connecting with his son thanks to the lingering trauma from Ozai, but they eventually bond over plays and literature.
Izumi and Kya also make up in their teens. Izumi willingly stepped down as Crown Princess and trained to take over Katara’s former job as Southern Water Tribe ambassador. Kya left train with her aunt Azula and the Sun Warriors for a while before taking over the throne. Iris moved to Kysohi Island and became captain of the warriors when Suki stepped down to start a police force in Republic City. And Iroh II studied medicine in the Northern Water Tribe.
Despite being spread all across the world, the family still made time to reunite a couple of times a year.
