Hiii! I dropped by on accident and found out your avatar headcanons and OCs so so nice
I gotta ask a few curiosities of mine if that's cool? *takes out a notebook and a pen*
- since katara and zuko are a thing, did it make their friendship with aang weird or was he cool with it instantly? And how did it even began for them? Did it followed the show's events? Did Aang even got a crush on Katara?
- What happens to Azula?
- How does all these next gen kids react when Korra shows up? Is it weird, is it fine, is it all the same? I mean, they all knew the previous avatar and he was pretty much their family and all. Tho I think them having their own lives also mean it's not that much of a deal?
- Is Katara still one of Korra's teaching masters?
- Sokka's kids get along?
- Does Tenzin and Bumi eventually get okay with each other?
- Korra still loses her connection to the past avatars and therefore Aang? Do they even talk, like he did to Roku and all?
- do you have any other headcanon or change of other characters from tlok or tloa that you mind sharing? like, a plot from tlok that you think it could be better improved or discarded, or something that happens on your universe and you haven't talked about yet?
Sorry for this such a big of an ask, i really REALLY liked these ideas you had (and your art is also amazing and so awesome and pretty too 💞).
heyyyy anon! sorry for the late reply, i hope you still see this.
First of all, thank you! I love genuine interest in my stuff I never expect it. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy and clever. ALSO thanks for complimenting my art! i'm a slow artist so my blood sweat and tears (mostly tears) are in every drawing !!!
onto answering your questions to the best of my ability:
Tumblr media
1) Aang is completely cool with Katara and Zuko's relationship. He's basically their biggest shipper :) He did have a crush on Katara (and Zuko tbh), but he was able to let it go pretty quickly. As the Avatar, after the war he was almost too busy to even be sad about it. Overwhelmingly, he was just happy for his friends
Also, Katara and Zuko get together after the war, when Katara's about 17 and he's about 19. Katara goes to the South Pole and they fall for each other through letters and short visits.
Most show events aren't really taken out for me. Just really the kiss right at the end.
2) Azula has a redemption arc. I like to think of it as being a redemption arc she herself is hardly aware of. She just thinks she's really in the long haul of fooling the gaang into liking her. Her redemption arc starts immediately after the war because Zuko keeps her safe in the palace.
Aang becomes her friend first and encourages everyone else to give her a chance. Sokka provides an outlet for all of her older brother issues, since she and Zuko have an awkward relationship. And Katara is tutored by Azula in Fire Nation etiquette and history so she's better equipped to be Fire Lady.
sorry if this is confusing, but believe it or not this rambling all makes sense to me.
3) Korra is very important to the next gen kids, aang's kids and the zk especially. Her arrival is in the middle of great political conflict that never would have happened if Aang wasn't murdered, so they're eager to get her in on the Avatar business.
My idea with Aang dying so young, is that all of his business is half finished. His kids didn't get real closure for their relationship. So Bumi, Yelaan, Palkyi and Tenzin all have complex feelings toward her. Bumi's in particular are very intense.
Being around Korra FEELS like being in his father's presence, which is hard for him. He doesn't want aang to have been a good person or a good father because then he'd really have to miss and mourn everything he was gone for. but this is a lot and hard for me to say so
the steambabies also need Korra and consider her central. They watched their parents' reactions when Aang died (particularly Zuko), and that has affected them deeply. Sakari has been advised to always follow the avatar, so she's happy to have guidance. Besides, she hopes the Avatar will restore and era of peace since she worries for Bumi and Akiak.
Akiak has changed since Aang died, a lot. In ways he's not always proud of. Facing Korra is somewhat hard for him for that reason. Especially since sometimes she opposes some of his methods. He thinks her way of bringing peace is naive.
Tophs kids (and Tenzin to some extent) are the same :)
4) Yes! Katara is one of her waterbending masters. I feel like when you're an Avatar's Master, that's your role for life. She already knows how to train the Avatar. She, Zuko, and Toph taught Korra in the right order, and are old friends with her. Korra has already met the whole Gaang even if she doesn't see Toph or Zuko as often as she'd like
5) I usually choose not to give Sokka kids. I feel like he doesn't want to be a father (even though he'd definitely be the best at it). He and Suki work too hard and have agreed they just aren't super interested in kids. He and Suki are full time Aunt and Uncle to all of the Next Gen. Now, ive made some OCs for asks and I'd say that they do get along :)
6) Bumi and Tenzin's relationship is ROUGH in this story, but yes, they do. It takes a while but eventually they're only mildly hostile with each other. Tenzin helps Bumi reconnect with Air Nomad culture, and Bumi helps him commune with the spirits better. This is jumpstarted by Korra.
7) Korra does keep communication with her past lives! But her path to being a fully realized Avatar is much more difficult. The decision to raise her in a compound was a mistake, and so her growth as an avatar is severely set back. This means, she speaks to her past lives when they reach out to her (and she's in tune enough to listen). Aang is not easy for her to talk to, but eventually she masters it. She doesn't really tell anyone because she's scared everyone will then only want to talk to aang, not her.
8) First of all: for atla, i write very particular cultures and geographies to expand the universe. They affect things in only minor ways for the most part in atla. Also, Aang is trans. I love it too much for it to not be true (if youre wondering how he had kids he made deals with spirits)
Now for tlok. In my opinion, it's very necessary for the different conflicts to not have clear starts and ends. These should all be interweaving conflicts that everyone's caught in the middle of. Not only does this facilitate a lot more character interactions, but it also builds stress and feels realistic.
Mako and Bolin are former triad members and pro athletes, they should be rougher around the edges. Also, Mako would NEVER EVER become a cop after seeing the direct damage they cause marginalized communities. I think that perspective would be very important for korra as an avatar.
Season two plotlines should just be a civil war between north and south. Tbh, I'm not digging all of the subtle ways the north takes over the south, and I imagine the south isn't either. They separated from the north for a reason, and then during the war, the north didn't even help them. The tensions were rising and Aang never came up with a good long term solution when he was alive, and that affects Korra.
Season three's plotline can mostly stay the same except there is no harmonic convergence that introduces new airbenders. The airbenders are the group that they are. They're travelling the earth kingdoms doing peace talks since much of the earth kingdoms don't want to be under ba sing se. Particularly the Si Wong Desert. Aang was in active peace talks when died and was never able to come up with a long term solution.
Season four is also mostly the same except no mechs or spirit nukes.
All the while the equalists are raging on at home.
ANYWAY. thanks for the ask! I hope you see this after i posted it SOOOO late.
See the pattern? Korra must fill aang's shoes while also dealing with all of his unfinished business. Every character serves a unique perspective that helps inform korras decisions.
I dont think these ideas are perfect and the only way to write Korra, but I think they make sense. They help tell a story Im more interested in.

Her Falling and Her Legacy *Part 3 ( A ATLA and LOK Imagine)
Been away for so long cuz of college. But I am HERE! and I am not leaving! Part 1/2/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
General Iroh II arrives at the Air Temple and Zuko has a dream.
Ba Sing Se
100 AG
Y/N smiles happily that her mooncakes have come out perfectly. It was the first time she had made them, and she was proud of how they turned out. She even gave them a little dragon design on it, circling a jasmine flower.
She took a careful bite to taste the flavors and smiled.
“Mmh, not bad!” She says to herself and makes a small plate for her and her roommates. She just wished that Zuko would wake up soon.
After Zuko released the Avatar’s flying bison, he became sick.
Iroh said that his aura is changing drastically and was the reason for his illness.
She sighs in worry but puts on a brave face before placing the plate on the kitchen table.
Iroh took one and tasted it. A smile was presented on his face. A clear sign that he was happy by the taste. “Incredible! You have outdone yourself, Y/N.”
“Thank you, Iroh. It’s my first time making these.”
Zuko entered the room and Iroh presented the mooncakes to him.
“Look, nephew, Y/N made mooncakes. Try one!”
Zuko looks at the hopeful gaze on Y/N’s face over his uncle’s shoulder and takes one.
After taking a bite, he hums lightly. “Pretty good.”
“Really?” She asked, worry washed away.
“Yeah. Really good, actually.” He takes another bite.
“Maybe we should add them to the menu of our tea shop.” Iroh suggested.
“Okay, but only I get to make them, I don’t want anyone stealing my recipe.”
“Deal!” Iroh finalizes their ‘business’.
Northern Air Temple
171 AG
Tenzin watched his pupils, yet again, with frustration.
It had weeks, but he still has ye tot manage to shape them into the ideal air nomads that he and his grandfather had dreamed of for as long as he can remember. After the close call with the bison herd from getting stolen by animal traffickers, if Kai and the other airbenders hadn’t interfered, he had expected they would at least become more serious about their training.
He winced as another was hit and out of the spinning paddles.
Not a lot, but at least a little.
He sighed once again and continued to watch until one certain pupil caught his attention.
At least one of them had expected those expectations.
“Don’t just stand there, Rookie! Be the leaf!” Meelo orders her as he pointed at the gates with his chest puffed up.
She looks down at him and then back at the paddle with a steady gaze. She watches as they spin and spin and then something just clicks.
“A leaf. . . I get it.”
She took her position and started moving her feet and walked onto the course, eyes closed.
Tenzin watched in tense, nobody had done it the first time with eyes closed before.
Yet she did the impossible, and moved like Meelo has instructed, like a leaf. But it wasn’t just dodging, it was like she was dancing. Like the leaf, she redirected any impacts that she stumbled upon her way through the grates and let the wind guide her to safety.
She finally arrived at the other side, unharmed and lowers of hands together.
The others looked at her with amazement and envy as whispers broke out.
“Wow.”
“She’s amazing.”
“She makes it look so easy.”
Bai-La was an incredible pupil. The most attentive, the most graceful and hard-working student that he has ever had the closest joy to have.
Other than the poor man that he had to demonstrate to shave, Bai-La was the only one who willingly volunteered to have her hair shaved. Technically, she asked for a half-shaved look to not lose all of her hair. He hesitated, but she was the only one who volunteered.
She passed every test and breathing exercises as well as understanding his lectures and stories, excluding.
If she kept it up, she would be at the same level as his children and Korra.
And . . . another thought had haunted his mind ever since he saw her eyes.
Y/N. The girl who would’ve been the Fire Lady.
Zuko’s first love.
Though he was not sure if it was just a coincidence, Bai-La's eyes and face were the exact copy of the girl who would’ve been his aunt.
Everyone knew the story. How Y/N The Gentle fought and aided future Chief Sokka, his would-be wife, Suki and future Chief of Police Toph to stop Fire Lord Ozai’s invasion.
Only Y/N was sacrificed for the cause.
His mother once told him of how broken Zuko was when he heard of the news of his beloved’s demise, but he had to remain strong as he was the next Fire Lord. He managed to find happiness in Mai, but even she knew that she couldn’t compete with the girl who had stolen her husband’s heart, their respect for each other is unreal.
In fact, the now Fire Lord, name, Izumi was half of Y/N’s name, Y/N Izumi, to honor her in memory.
Which brings him to another situation.
“Alright everyone, that’s enough for today. We’ll continue tomorrow after our morning meditation.”
Most of them sighed in relief and even went on their separate ways in groups or alone. Bai-La jumps done and lands on her feet gracefully.
As she was about to leave, Tenzin stopped her.
“Just a moment Bai. There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“Yes, Sifu Tenzin?” She looks up at him.
“Follow me.” He says, and they made their way out of the training grounds.
They reached one of many balconies of the temple and he took out an envelope from his robes.
“Here.” He hands it to her. “Letters from your family. I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise of bringing them here, but the letter that you sent to them was most helpful.”
Bai-La smiles gratefully and bows to him. “Thank you. These mean more a lot to me than you can think of.” She opens one and immediately begins to read.
Tenzin nods. “I’m glad. . . there is something else that I need to bring up.”
“Yes?” She looks back up at him.
“As you know by now, our situation with the world leaders have been a little. . . strained with the idea of airbenders being back to society.”
“You mean President Raiko?”
Tenzin didn’t reply. “Our first impression was not . . .impressive, per say. Two days from now, General Iroh will come visit by to write a report on our activities and how fair we are doing.”
“You mean spying?” She teases lightly.
“Yes.” He couldn’t help but to comply with her humor. “But General Iroh is a good man. The one he’s working above him, however.”
“No need for more explanations.” She raises her hand to stop him. “But I still have yet to understand what it has to do with me?”
“Well, other than Kai and my brother, you Bai-La have the greatest potential out of all the other airbenders. In fact, you’ve become a sort of prodigy. Which is why I want you to be a representative of the airbenders once the General arrives to build his report.”
“I don’t know what to say.” She says in surprise. “I am . . .”
“Just don’t get it to your head.” Tenzin teases as he places a hand on her shoulder. “You should prepare, the General will be here next week.”
“Yes, and thank you, Sifu Tenzin.” She bows with her fist connected to her palm.
He returns it and they began to walk away until Bai notices something.
“Is that an old oven?”
Tenzin looks over his shoulder and sees a familiar oven that brought up wonderful memories.
“Why yes, the air acolytes use it, but they’re a little old fashion these days. I used to make cakes with my father here once, Bumi did not like them.”
“Were they that bad?”
A secret smile made its way up to the corners of his mouth. “Not exactly.”
“Well, then, can I use it? I would love to make some mooncakes or some sweetbread.” She had sparkles in her eyes as she explained.
Tenzin raises an amused brow. “I don’t see why not. Here, let me show you a recipe my father taught me.”
***
Bumi was happily taking a stroll until something fell from the sky.
His head was suddenly covered in frosting and cake bits. He shouted at the sky in anger, knowing exactly who was responsible.
“TENZINNNNN!”
Tenzin and Bai-La looks down from the balcony and they both laugh. They then bow to each other.
“Your aim is perfect, my bright pupil.”
“Thanks, Sifu Tenzin.”
***
The Fire Nation.
The winds brushed his hair wildly as he stood there in the courtyard where the fountain lay, the exact one from Ba Sing Sae. The one where she took him there by accident.
Cherry blossom petals suddenly fall from the sky. Where did they come from? He doesn’t know.
“Zuko.”
His eyes widened and he slowly turned. The wind blowing through his hair as the owner of the voice that had called out to him was full in his sight.
There she was.
Young and beautiful as he remembered.
Her dress was the one she wore on their first date.
He felt his youth coming back as he suddenly morphs back into the young lad he used to be when they were still together.
He ran to the other side of the fountain, where she was and crashes her into a hug. She let out a giggle as he twirls her around until he settles her back to the ground. Her head burry on his chest as he hugs her.
“I missed you.” He whispers into her hair.
“I missed you, too.” She muffles into his chest.
“This is another dream. Is it?” His tone of content did not waver.
“I’m afraid so.” She confesses. “But it’ll be over soon.”
His hold on her tightened at those words. This dream always ended the same way. He begs her to stay longer, but she always says no.
“Please. Just a little longer. A minute even.”
“You don’t understand, Zuko. It will be over soon.”
He frowns, this was different. He pulls away to look down at her. “What will be over soon?”
She raises a hand to cup his cheek, her thumb caressing the edge of his scar.
This was different too.
But he didn’t care, he leans into the touch and grabs it to kiss the palm of her hand.
“You’ll see.”
He suddenly wakes up.
He sat up and looked at the morning sky from his open window.
It has been days since he arrived at the Fire Nation to protect Izumi. She was reluctant to take the decision, saying that she didn’t need any protection, but he insisted. She has only heard of Zaheer and the Red Lotus, never seen them of what they are capable of.
His hands clutched the silk duvet as he imprinted the words of his first beloved.
It’ll be over soon.
But what did she mean by that?
***
Bai-La sighs as she wipes the sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand after setting the last batch of mooncakes on tray. She smiled at her grandmother’s signature design on the treats as fond memories began to unfold. She looks at the ready mooncakes that were packaged in boxes. At the sight of it, there was enough for a whole fleet. Which was what she was going for.
Ikki was there too, sitting near the baker on a rail of the balcony munching on a cake that Bai had given her. “Mmh! This is the best mooncake I ever tasted.” She pauses. “Don’t tell my mom I said that.”
Bai only smiles. “I’m glad you like them! It’s my grandmother’s recipe, never changed and never left eaten without a single crumb behind.”
Ikki looks at the number of mooncakes. “But why are you making so much? Is there a party? Are we having a party? Is it someone’s birthday?”
“Nope,” Bai answers quickly to cut off any remaining questions that the little girl has. “These are for the Air Acolytes as a thank you for helping us settling in the temple and for the Fleet of the United Republic of Nations as a welcome present.”
Ikki looks at the many boxes. “That’s a lot of mooncakes.”
“Ooh!” Meelo made himself known. “Mooncakes! Score!”
He was about to touch the ones that were already packed but Bai lightly taps his hand with a wooden spoon. “Apbububu- No touchy. Those are for the Air Acolytes and our guests tomorrow.”
Meelo rubs his hand in dismay, but his mood suddenly changed when a plate of mooncakes was in front of his face.
“These however are for airbenders.” Bai smiled.
He gladly takes one and takes a bite. His eyes sparkled as his tastebuds sings his mood. “Whoa! It’s like I’ve been taken to Flavor Heaven!”
He then takes more and more to stuff in his mouth, but Bai pulls that plate away from him as she laughs. “Hey! Save some for the others, Little Sifu.”
Little Sifu was a nickname she had given him since she started her training, Meelo didn’t seem to mind since the word Sifu is being used directly to him.
“Alright, since you two are here. Mind helping give these out till’ dinner time? I’ll put in a good dozen of mooncakes for you once we’re done.”
“You trade in a hard bargain, lady.” Meelo comes by and takes a few boxes with Ikki.
“But the temple is so big. How are we gonna take these to everyone by dinner? I’ll be tired from all the walking.”
“Who says anything about walking?”
Ikki and Meelo shared a look.
***
An air acolyte was done cleaning the windows, when suddenly, he hears the familiar sounds of wind whistles.
Before he could look behind, three figures passed by him, and he felt something in his hands. He looked down and was surprised to see a white box in his hands with a sweet aroma coming from it.
He squinted to the culprit that gave him the box and see Bai-La with the airbending children on air scooters with other boxes balanced on the top of their heads.
“Thanks for your hard work!” Bai shouted.
The air acolyte raises a brow but opens the box, nonetheless, he takes out a mooncake and smiles to where the benders headed before taking a bite.
“Mmh!”
***
Like Bai had hoped, they managed to deliver the mooncakes to every acolyte at the Temple by dinner. Some were surprised but mostly happy by the thoughtful treats.
Everyone finished their meals and the airbenders were surprised by Bai’s mooncakes waiting for them.
“So, this is what the commotion was about within the acolytes.” Tenzin said as he takes one.
“I wanted to thank them for helping us settle in the Air Temple.”
“How thoughtful.” Pema complements as she takes a mooncake as well. She noticed the design and admired it. “What a lovely touch.”
Bai smiled. “Thank you, it’s my gram-gram's signature.”
“These are delicious!”
“I know right!” Ikki was happily eating them.
Bai sat in her seat as she was being thanked and asked for making mooncakes again from airbenders and acolytes alike. One even asked for the recipe, but she shakes her head.
“Sorry guys, family secret. My grandmother would haunt me if shared the recipe from outside of the family.”
The mood in the room changed drastically after hearing the comment.
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that, Bai.” Tenzin apologizes.
The young woman only smiled and shakes her head again. “It is fine, Master Tenzin, it was a long time ago. . .” She fiddles with something that tied around her neck that Ikki seemed to be the only one to notice.
“What that?”
Bai pulls it up a bit to show it. It was a half pendant that shined brightly in the light.
“It’s an heirloom, it belonged to my grandmother once, before she passed away. “
“Pretty! But where’s the other half?” Ikki tilted her head.
“I don’t know, my grandmother never really explained it to me.”
As Bai tries her best explain the mystery, by mere sight of the necklace, Tenzin was suddenly pulled into flashback, a memory that he had almost forgotten.
When Lord Zuko was telling them the bravery of the only fallen friend during the war.
Y/N the Gentle.
The portrait the Fire Nation Palace displays for her honor was made with as much detail as possible, the beautiful smile and kindness showing in her eyes. But what really stuck to young Tenzin the most was the necklace that the young girl was wearing around her neck.
One that took a similar resemblance to the one that Bai-La has in her hands.
And if he remembered the tales that Iroh had told him when he became older, Lord Zuko had the intension to marry Y/N after they brought peace to the Four Nations. But that promise was taken away from him when Y/N sacrificed herself to save his uncle and Toph Beifong.
He frowns at the sight of the necklace as the possibility ran through his mind.
After dinner, he stood up and announced that he had something to take care of in his study.
Once there, He rummaged through the bookshelf until he found what he was looking for. He opens it and flips through the pages until he stops at a chapter where the first page shows a picture of the same portrait, he’s seen in the Fire Nation Palace. He takes a small magnifying glass from his desk and moves it around the portrait until it stops to the model’s neck.
A pendant around the girl’s neck gave him the clue he needed for his question.
***
Tenzin and the acolyte elders watched as General Iroh’s fleet had docked the port on a blimp. The General himself was walking down the ramp and he saluted.
“Greetings, Tenzin.”
“General Iroh, it is good to see you.”
They shake hands.
“You as well.”
“I’m sorry you have to be put up with this assignment.”
“No trouble at all. It’ll be a short visit, but at least me and my men have a time to relax, away from Republic City.”
“And the President.”
Iroh smirks. “Especially.”
They began to walk and catch up, they have not talked since their ordeal with Unalaq. Once they reached the outskirts of the Temple where they were airbenders training on top of the poles. Iroh and Tenzin, and Iroh’s first mate, who was taking reports and writing them down on a clipboard, watched as they all worked through their training, some have fallen but few have managed to stand their ground on top of the poles.
“As you can see, they have a long way to go until they become proper airbenders.”
He winces as another pupil falls.
“Very long. Also, if you have the time, there’s something that I need to discuss with you.”
“What-” Before Iroh could even finish, a voice call from above.
“Look out!”
One of the pupils jumped with a powerful gush of wind by accident and suddenly fell on the General himself with a loud thud.
“Ow.” Iroh croaks as the pupil gets and apologizes repeatedly and bows many times, knowing who exactly he had dropped on as Iroh turns to his back.
A gasped was heard from above.
Suddenly, a sound of soft wind was heard, and a pair of legs was delicately floating down to the ground with airbending and lands in front of Iroh. He looks up to see that it was a woman close to his age.
The stranger leans and offers her hand.
“Are you alright?”
He took it and almost froze when he looked up and caught her eyes with his own. They were so bright and beautiful.
But his admiration was brief when she tugged his arm up and he snapped out his gaze and stood.
She was a short woman with long hair, yet the side was shaved off, it was styled in a very delicate way as well as edgy.
He clears his throat, remembering his manners. “Thank you.”
She smiled as Tenzin came to her side.
“Iroh, this is Bai La, one of the freed airbending prisoners from Ba Sing Se and finest pupil in the temple.”
“Hello.” She bows. But when she straightens her posture back, she moves her hair away from her face when a breeze passes by.
Iroh then had a look of realization but was able to hide it from the woman before him. A look that Tenzin had predicted.
“I hope you and your men are hungry. The air acolytes and I prepared a welcome dinner in honor of your visit.”
“Yes. Thank you.” Iroh could only answer as his mind was plagued with possibilities because of her face.
“Hey, Bai!” Kai from above calls for her. “I thought we have a bet going on?”
“Coming!” She turns back to the General. “See you at the dining hall.”
She then jumps with the help of airbending to set herself back on top of the poles.
Tenzin finds himself back at Iroh’s side.
“She’s. . .” He hesitated, yet Tenzin knew already what the Crown Prince was going to say.
“Yes. Exactly.”
Iroh had returned from his military training from the Northern Water Tribe. His mother took him on a walk, and they suddenly found themselves in the hall where all his forefathers and mothers portraits hanged, including the heroes of their nation.
His mother, who suddenly stopped at one specific portrait that which she had mentioned was one of her favorites because of the story behind the person’s cause and bravery.
Yet, she had surprised Iroh then with a single sentence.
“You know. . . I used to hate her.”
Iroh’s eyes widened a bit as his mother confesses.
“When your grandmother Mai told me of Y/N, I grew angry at your grandfather, wondering why he could ever disrespect the woman who gave birth to me. Whispering her name in his sleep and she cried every time.”
She closed her eyes and opened them, filled with wisdom, yet despair. “But she explained to me that on the day of Sozin’s Comet, when Y/N was lost, he became a broken man, almost unrecognizable. That’s when I knew that I couldn’t hold on to that anger anymore, especially on a brave woman who gave her life to save the world.”
Iroh places a hand on his mother’s shoulder. “I‘m sorry you had to go through that, mom. It must’ve taken a great deal of strength to accept it.”
She smiles and looks up at him. “Thank you, my son.”
They both continued to look at the portrait. Admiring the woman who could’ve been Fire Lady.
The general continued to watch Bai as she jumps from one pole to another circling with Kai to see who can stay the longest.
“But. . .are we even sure?” He asked.
Tenzin whispers to him. “Look around her neck.”
Iroh squints and sees what Tenzin is referring to watch for. It was a pendant, broken in half. A pendant he was all too familiar with.
“We can’t know for sure. Have you talked to her about this?”
Tenzin looks at Bai with a conflicted gaze. It was clear that she had become his favorite student. He tried to keep all equal feelings for his airbenders but Bai was a kind and bright being that had the potential to become one of the greatest Airbending Masters.
“I just don’t want to overwhelm her.”
“You might now have a choice.” Iroh states in a calming manner. “With things going on at Ba Sing Se and the Red Lotus, there might not be a chance to tell her. Or . . . him.”
Tenzin looks back and watches as Bai laughs to whatever Kai was saying. Lord Zuko was
“No, there might not be.” He sighs. “I’ll arrange a private meeting with her. Will you join us?”
Iroh nods as he continues to gaze Bai. “Of course.”

This one has an actual story but hey, it was a ten minutes sketch before work.

So Lin’s significant other meets Su… how does it go down ? Who is she dating ? Do they know about the story behind the scars etc ? Did Lin purposefully introduce them or would she have preferred to keep it private or is this just an inconvenient situation ?
Hello!
So I have a couple of different theories about this and it's going to turn into an essay- so you've been warned. But despite this, I would say Lin definitely prefer to keep everything private but it's not always her choice.
The answer would vary depending on the pairing.
With Tenzin, there's two schools of thought: 1) assuming Suyin scarred Lin and left but the linzin break up never happened, I guess it wouldn't be any different. That one scene in book 3 where Su's like "No wonder Tenzin ended things with you all those years ago." tells me that she knew about Lin and Tenzin having relationship problems. So, when the sisters reconcile, she wouldn't be surprised that Lin ended up with Tenzin. She'd probably laugh a little and give Tenzin a hug like "I knew you'd get her." in the end. 2) If Lin and Tenzin get back together during/post-canon, I think Lin wouldn't be sure how/what to tell her sister. Even though Su is a much bigger believer in the "people can change" phenomenon, she won't let that apply to Tenzin. She'd be very untrusting of him and his intentions. To Lin, getting back together is a big deal but she doesn't realize how her feelings of happiness would bring anyone else joy. So on the one hand, Su would be overjoyed, over the moon because she is a hardcore Linzin shipper, but on the other hand, she'd be extremely angry and fist Tenzin's face with a "don't your DARE hurt her again." Or she may just protest the relationship and Lin would be like "I never should've told you..."
If it's Bumi, either pre-, during or post-canon, I don't think Lin would be keen on telling Suyin anything of that sort. Her personal life is personal and Suyin, to her is not personal. You know what I mean? The only thing is- with Tenzin, because of their history, I see Lin getting that out of the way before Su finds out about it in the newspaper or something- cuz a Linzin reunion would be IMPACTFUL to Republic City. So, it's more so a heads-up than sharing personal information. But yeah, coming back to Bumi, Lin would absolutely not tell Suyin unless she is specifically asks her if she's in a relationship with anyone. If it's pre-reconciliation Linumi, I can see Lin telling Su about it/letting her find out from other sources, but if it's post-canon Linumi, Lin would try hiding it until Suyin inevitably pries it out of her.
Now these answers hold in regards to people Su knew from when she was younger. And because of this, naturally, both Bumi and Tenzin know where Lin got her scars from.
If it were Lightning Bolt Zolt, I think @wishingforatypewriter explained this really well over here. But in time, Su would come around because she wouldn't wanna come across as a hypocrite for judging Lin. Zolt one hundred percent knows who the scars are from- in fact, I can see him confronting Suyin about it too- sending her for that acupuncture therapy to make her realize just how much she hurt her Lin. I think Lin would rather this stay private until one fine day it just comes out in the open.
Coming to Linko, Lin would take her own sweet time with telling Su. It isn't until Mako insists on going public, actually. He gradually finds out about the scars.. there's a chance he finds out from Suyin than from Lin.
Okay and finally, coming to my OC, Zekou. Zekou knows about the scars- Lin told him about it and isn't after a few months after reconciling with Su that she introduces them to each other. It's more so because Su keeps pressing about Lin's personal life and Zek trying to help Lin reconnect with her sister that leads to this. Zek is kind and friendly, and as much as he tried emulating Lin's behavior with her sister, he ends up getting along with her. He's reserved when it comes to Su and follows Lin's lead.
I think this about covers it. I hope this answers the question. Thank you for the ask!

consider: lian x bumi ii
from https://www.tumblr.com/sapphic-agent/747940929498923008/i-love-your-team-avatar-rewrite-can-you-talk-more
Actually, Bumi is gay! At least, he is in my AU (I'm like 80% sure he is in canon but that's just me🤷🏾‍♀️). They WOULD make a kickass queerplatonic pair though. They're similar in a lot of ways, so I totally see your vision.
I would lean way closer to Tyro II x Bumi II. Idk why, they just make sense in my head

tell us about your self insert
hiiiii im glad you asked anon!!!
my self insert is an ex uf captain who served under bumi and left the uf around the time that bumi retired. bumi once saved his life when he was very new to the navy and ever since then he's been hopelessly in love and devoted to bumi.
he worked really hard to be close to bumi and was very dismayed when bumi retired like 4 months after they got assigned together, so he quit the army because sure he couldnt follow around bumi, but it meant he could see him more often (uf is a bitch with leaves)
he went to see bumi once before he set off to make a new life but instead got roped into living in ATI where he is an unemployed useless bum who helps out in the kitchen a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hes often sad that despite being free 24/7 he doesnt have enough time to love bumi
Tumblr media
its a very one sided love though because bumi sees him as a little guy and does not have any romantic feelings for him whatsoever.
rather guility, he is glad that bumi is bitchless because he'd straight up die if bumi suddenly revealed he had a girlfriend.

Turtle, Duck, Dragon Horse: Ch. 8 excerpt #2
As friends of convenience go, Heng and Solongo are alright. They buddied up in Bumi’s class just this week, a trio of misfits. Heng, the ex-Terra Triad bruiser. Solongo, the aging Zaofu socialite. And plain ol’ Hana.
It reminds her of elementary school, when every student just socialized with the classmates they sat closest to. But her two fellow novitiates are friendly and close enough to her age to have a decent conversation. Her only complaint is Heng and Solongo’s flirting, which has really ramped up the past couple of days. She’s played the third wheel enough times to know it’s not for her.
The three of them are leaving the dining hall one evening when Bum-Ju appears right in front of them, which is normal behavior for most spirits but not for him. Solongo’s busy giggling at something Heng just said, so Hana’s the first one to notice the spirit’s frantic gesturing.
“Something wrong?” Bum-Ju nods, followed by a series of chirps and trills. He stops when she holds her hands up. “Look, I’m sorry. I don’t understand. Can you just—” And off he goes, a cyan streak down a nearby footpath. Without a word, Hana follows, using her gust-skipping technique to pick up speed.
It’s as dark as the bottom of a well when she catches up, at a spot on the path far away from any lamps and beneath trees that block the moonlight. With only Bum-Ju’s gentle glow to rely on, she doesn’t see Bumi at first. He yelps when she bumps into him.
“Oh, sorry!”
“Whozzat?” As her eyes adjust, she sees him doubled over, hands braced on his knees with his butt in the air. It’d be hilarious, if not for the pain he’s obviously in. His legs are trembling with it.
“It’s, uh, Hana.” She hears two sets of footsteps close behind. “Solongo and Heng should be here in a sec.” She’d worry about them tripping in the dark, but unsurprisingly, most airbenders are good at avoiding that.
“Aw, c-crap.”
She crouches down, close enough to make out his clenched jaw and sweaty brow. “Are you hurt?”
“M’back.”
“Chirrrup!”
“Not helping, Bum-Ju,” he snarls through gritted teeth.
“Oh, what’s happened?” asks Solongo as she steps into the light.
“Was pettin’ a baby lemur,” explains Bumi, miserably. “Threw my b-back out.”
“Wow, a baby?!” says Hana, like an idiot.
“It ran away.”
“Oh.”
Hana stands back up as Heng steps forward. He takes one of Bumi’s hands and says, “Okay, teach, let’s go.”
“N-n-no, not not not— Ssss!”
“You’re hurting him!” says Solongo.
“I’m helping! We can’t just leave him here.”
Hana places a hand on Bumi’s lower back and understands. Whatever the problem’s root cause may be, the muscles there are spasming something fierce. Trying to walk him to safety will be torture if he can’t relax. “It’s okay,” she reassures him, moving her hand lower. She pokes her thumb and forefinger into a pair of pressure points near the base of his spine. There’s a subtle click, like releasing a clasp.
Bumi groans and eases himself upright, to Heng and Solongo’s surprise. After his miraculous recovery, he protests as they all escort him to the dining hall, but they still do it. Anyway, it’s not like they can see where they’re going without Bum-Ju.
“Well, you can say you rescued an old man for your nightly chores, if anybody asks,” says Bumi as he eases onto an outdoor bench. Bum-Ju immediately settles on his lap. As Hana and Solongo sit to either side of him, he scoops the little spirit up in one arm and cradles him, rubbing his fuzzy little belly with a thumb. “Thanks for the reinforcements, buddy,” he whispers. Bum-Ju purrs back, which Hana finds both adorable and slightly uncanny.
“Oh, but helping you isn’t a chore,” says Solongo.
“Yeah, and you’re not old,” adds Hana.
Heng gives a little huff. “Don’t argue with the man.” Standing over them with his arms crossed, he exudes a macho confidence that reminds Hana of her dad, and she likes him a lot less all of a sudden.
Bumi squints up at him and says, “It’s fine, Heng. We’re all friends here.” Then he turns to Hana. “And you’re sweet, kid, but I know what I am.”
While she has no intention to argue, Hana can’t bring herself to think of Bumi as old in the “elderly” sense. He’s much older than she is, obviously, but she’s never met anyone else even half as full of life. In the brief time she’s known him, he’s always approached every day as a shiny new opportunity, like a little boy. How could such an exuberant, happy-go-lucky person ever get old?
“Y’know, when I was a young man, I never got sick or tired or hurt, aside from some scrapes and bruises,” says Bumi. “Maybe it’s all finally catchin’ up to me.” He scratches a sideburn, and Hana watches his expression go soft and wistful. “Did you guys ever hear about the time I trained to be a commando in the United Forces?”
All three of them shake their heads, and Hana grins because it’s about to be Bumi Story Time.
“Well, this was when I was maybe 21. Lemme tell ya, I was a piss poor soldier. Sloppy. Mouthy. A little crazy. Probably the main reason I didn’t get discharged is a couple of my stunts made my squad look real good. And I could make the staff sergeant laugh. That guy loved some slapstick.”
“So you were, what, the mascot?” asks Hana. Then she covers her mouth, suddenly sure that was a very rude thing to say.
Bumi just smiles. “Heh. Not far off.”
Solongo chimes in, “Would they really have discharged the Avatar’s son?”
Heng shifts his weight impatiently, but keeps his thoughts to himself.
“Avatar’s son? Who, me? Nah, I was some nobody named Bato Watermoon.”
Hana snorts into her hand. “Wait, wait,” she can’t help but interject, “you lied to the military?”
“Hey, I didn’t want any special treatment!” Bumi flutters his free hand for emphasis, bending a tiny gust that ruffles his hair. “Anyway, the commando thing. I heard about it from this one gal in another squad, since she was applying. Thought it could be my calling, or something I could at least be good at. There was some… other stuff, too. Not important. But getting away from my old squad sounded pretty sweet.”
Hana makes a mental note to ask about the other stuff sometime.
“Gave me a physical as part of the application. I’d had normal check-ups every year, but this was something else. They were really insistent on checking my butt for some reason. Must’ve liked what they saw, since I passed with flying colors. I think it got me fast-tracked ‘cuz I was outta there in a couple of weeks. Got sent to this special training camp that made boot camp look like a tickle party. Barely had time to think between the psych tests, teamwork exercises, contests, physical trials, and more medical check-ups. Over a month of that, just to see if we were up to snuff. Only half of us made it to orientation, and then Hell in a Handbasket.”
“Wh—” Hana shakes her head, embarrassed. “I’m sorry, what? Handbasket?”
“S’what we called it. The real training. Everybody who made it through orientation got shipped to another, specialer camp and put in units. It was just, ugh… months of the most grueling crap, with a team of psychos chewin’ us out the whole time.” Bumi grimaces at the memory, then perks back up. “But I kicked ass! I really went for it, just to see if I could. I maybe wasn’t so good at memorizing protocol, but I got top marks in every practice run. By the end, they had us running on a few hours of sleep a night. There was a lotta mindless marathoning. Swimming, jogging, rock climbing, y’know. All in full uniform. But we executed full mock missions, too. I don’t actually remember a lot of it… Pretty sure if I tried it now, I’d just keel over and die. One guy almost did!”
Bumi pauses for dramatic effect, glancing around at the three novitiates hanging on his every word. Hana’s sure she sees his eyes actually twinkle.
“Yeah, this guy Vo. He was in a different unit, but we were doing the same trial that day. Deep sea diving. Water colder than milk from a witch’s tit! Hah! I’d finished, so I was taking a breather when he came up. He was barely moving, so they had to drag him to shore. I watched him throw up what must’ve been a gallon of bloody phlegm. A full gallon, at least! I swear!”
“That’s simply awful,” says Solongo.
“Yeah. It was. Yeah. It got everywhere.” He shudders. “Everywhere.”
“But he was okay?” asks Hana.
“He didn’t die.” Bumi shrugs. “But he was dropped from the program. And so… for the next swimming trial, I swallowed a buncha seawater, bit the inside of my cheek open, and got myself dropped, too.” He sticks his tongue in his cheek and swirls it around, waiting for their reaction.
“You took a dive,” says Hana flatly.
“Ah, wordplay! I like it. 17 points.”
“You quit?” asks Heng. He looks genuinely confused. “But you were the best.”
“Yeah? And it turned me into a miserable asshole. I got so focused on being on top that I didn’t care about everyone else struggling to keep up. I had to see a guy almost die to understand how bad it actually was. No, I got scooped up by the rangers instead. Good thing, too.”
“You could’ve been a great commando, though.”
“I, uh… dunno about that. By that point, I’d figured out I wasn’t a killer. Could never work up a bloodlust, or go in cold, even. ‘Cuz that’s what a commando does. When they get sent in, it’s because someone up top decided it was time for bad people to die.”
“So you never killed anyone?” asks Heng in a tone bordering on the incredulous. Hana almost tells him to shut up, but she’s curious, too. Bumi’s expression doesn’t actually change, but the wrinkles around his eyes and mouth seem to deepen. Maybe it’s just the moonlight.
“…Not on purpose.”
Lying awake that night in her hard, hard bed, Hana plays the scene back in her mind again and again. Maybe she’s looking for something, some precious clue in the story or the way he told it. But a clue to what?
Had things gone a little differently, that strange man she’s become so fond of could’ve made a career as a killer. Instead, he chose peace. Whatever darker things he may have seen and done in his life, that’s still worth something.
“Your dad must’ve been so proud of you,” she whispers, wishing she’d said it to him for real.
Maybe tomorrow.

🥰🤩[Morgan]📖[Bumizumi time travel AU]🎁
🥰 : A fluff WIP snippet
Han scowled. “So much for not having a crush on her, huh, Luke?” “Han,” Luke protested, “it’s not like—!” But Han stormed out too, and Luke sighed. “What are we gonna do with them?” “Lock them in a closet together?” Lucy suggested. “That’s the only way this’ll get resolved, and you know it as well as I do.” “Once things settle down a bit,” Luke said, “then I agree, let’s do it.”
Oh Han 😂 also, I changed the kiss to a hug in ESB, because...imo it gets the same sentiment across without being weird af. Plus, this way, it's easier to believe that Leia's just doing this to make Han jealous—she doesn't actually have feelings for Luke.
🤩 : A WIP snippet about or with dialogue from [Morgan]
“Oh, I dont know,” Morgan grinned, “I, for one, would love to hear more about it.” Ignoring Barry’s glare, she greeted Felicity with a cheerful, “Hi, Felicity, I’m Morgan. I remember you from trivia night.”
This is in response to Felicity saying "[Barry and I] looked down that [romantic] road and said no thank you" 😂 and Morgan, surrogate little sister that she is, loves having the chance to tease Barry about it.
📖 : A published snippet from [the Bumizumi time travel AU]
“I have nothing to hide,” Bumi promised. “Then tell us who you are,” Sokka said. “The full truth.” Bumi took a deep breath. “Okay. This...this is gonna sound absolutely crazy, but just...bear with me. I’m Katara’s son from the future, and I was sent back 22 years in time.”
I keep meaning to get back to this 😅 one day I'll finish the fic and post the rest of the chapters!
🎁 : Name a published gift fic someone has given you that you love and can't recommend enough (be sure to tag the author. Or if you don't have an AO3 or haven't been gifted a fic, what kind of fic would you like to be gifted?)
thinking about what it'd be like to be yours, by the amazing ohsalamanders! I absolutely adore Karmala (Kareem x Kamala), and it's so nice to have a few fics just about them, portraying how I'd love their relationship to unfold 💞 I highly recommend this to anyone who loved Ms. Marvel and found Kareem and Kamala's banter fun.
(Really I recommend all her fics, they're so good 💞)

do u have a linumi oc??
hello anon! You're the first person to send me an ask (I'm a little emotional <3
I hope I didn't misunderstand your question... but yes! I have oc linumi!
I can't imagine both of them (linumi) thinking about having more than one pregnancy, they are real and they know that being parents to more than one child is exhausting... but genetically speaking the probability of having twins comes from the woman, so lin has a real chance of having twins since your sister had them
and I think that would be the case, I like Lin with twins, sue me
a boy and a girl maybe, I think the boy would be called Sokka II (bumi is very emotional about his uncle) and the girl would be Mahina (could mean moon or goddess, and I think sokka always talked about yue to bumi)
both airbenders! (or maybe she's a waterbender? I'm just saying the beifong geneses didn't win this time
but I say that none of them became monks or got their tattoos, I don't think they ever felt a vocation - this kills Katara and Tenzin inside but they don't say anything
they both pursue careers in the military, mah likes to use two swords in battle and sokka his airbending (... I'm unsure now
physically they have black hair and green eyes (no one could question Lin's kinship with the two
the picrew I used is linked - lin's face and bumi's mentality
