DP x DC Prompt #1
An old collection is finally shown again at the British Museum after being left in boxes for a few decades.
By coincidence one Tucker Foley, reincarnation of a Pharaoh, notices among the collection several items that used to belong to him. It doesn't take much (or anything) to convince Sam and Danny to go on a... Field trip yup field trip with him to London, a little vacation for his 24th birthday if you will. What do you mean his birthday isn't before several months? That's blasphemy.
They simply came during the day as to control the perimeter (and make a list of other artefacts that would suddenly be returned to their rightful place.)
They could not have planned that one Ra's Al Ghul also had several of his own personal items that he wished to retrieve among the very same collection. Or that he would decide to not only get them back himself but also at the same time.

it's december again folks💆which makes it the time of year where I drop in to say I'm Sorry and I Didn't Think It Would Take This Long - I was kind of hoping to finish it up this month, but then I added some stuff, and I found some stuff I coded like if a rabid dog found a laptop in the trash, so that needs fixing; the usual stuff.
november was a pretty productive month for me, but I've been blindsided this week with a bout of illness and some family stuff, so progress has ground to a halt, and december's never very productive; as such I'm hoping I'll get it out sometime in January. as always, i really really appreciate your patience - I hope you'll continue to bear with me, and I do hope when it comes, you'll enjoy the update!

I'm not a poet or a paleoartist but I am fucking emotionally wrecked right now.
I keep thinking of the tiny little homotherium cub found in the ice. They died thousands of years ago, lived for less than a month - but they're so loved. Of course none of us can say If they were or weren't loved in life, but they're loved in death and makes it so much more beautifully tragic. They died cold alone, freezing and barely old to walk. They were alone like that for thousands of years, but they've been found again and they're so loved.
Thousands of people know about this tiny little thing that lived thousands of years ago and we love them so much.
It's a full moon tonight where I live, light enough that when I went out to get my clothes off the line I didn't even need a torch to see. I keep wondering what that cub's life was like, for the short one it experienced. Did they have siblings? Did any of them live longer, with long enough to hunt with their mother? Was their mother dead before they were? Did they ever get to see a full moon?
This is one incoherent ramble but I'm a mess about this

Kindest reminder that aside from Sky and Wild, none of the others have even heard of the Goddess Hylia before meeting up. The goddesses they would invoke, if any, would be either Farore, Din, or Nayru.

hhhhhg inkmare with emotionless ink????
No drawing yet I'm afraid (working on an animatic currently...!) but the idea of emotionless Ink even without Inkmare is so interesting to me????
First of all, I'd assume Nightmare knows there's a state of "being" that Ink threatens to access whenever his paints dry off. A "blankness". But this kind of blankness would be particularly... morbid?? for them??? both as monsters and as beings that need not to sleep. Like. Ink usually doesn't sleep, so Nightmare wouldn't describe this state as Ink sleeping with his eyes open. Ink doesn't need to breathe, so seeing him just... being still? wouldn't ring any particular bells if not for how still and how colorless he looks.
I'd assume his first thought would be (to his horror) a state similar to death. Except that death doesn't look like that to monsters, Ink's not dust. (Also I wonder if blank Ink has any reflexes? Would his eyes follow moving figures?) maybe he's falling down? But Ink can't do that, only monsters drowning in hopelessness do that.
But then he'd go "oh yes, he's told me something about... something like this". And he, of course, would seek Ink's vials. They must be close, since Ink never takes his sash off. Are they empty? (How could Ink forget to refill them? Is there... Is the paint just... running out?) Are they full? (Is there a problem with the process of drinking it? Or, may it never be, has Ink just decided to drink them all together? What could that be, if not an act of—?) Are the vials just. Gone? Where's the sash? (Did someone steal it? Why didn't he search for help, to get back to the Doodlesphere and refill the blank of his chest? Was there something hindering him to get it?)
Anyways, the moment passes, shock is somewhat gone, silenced. Nightmare knows what to do (Ink has told him. Has he? Nightmare knows what the vials do. It makes sense for him to be able to piece it together, even if Ink never was very explicit on it). So he, of course, decides to give Ink back a piece of himself. (Ink gave him a blue vial for this purpose, after all. So even if the sash is gone he can still be recovered. Can he?) So he force feeds him paint as. Y'know. As one does. And Ink's himself again! But he's all sad and stuff cuz. Blue. Oh well. He can now get himself to the Doodlesphere.
But now Nightmare knows what Ink looks like when he's blank. And may he hate the sight as much as Ink does. Evil stuff
(i imagine that if ink got somehow stuck as an emotionless being, nightmare would actually struggle "giving him up" to the stars. Like, he knows theyd probably help him better than he could since theyre friends and they probably have magic paint somewhere cuz. Friendship idk. But also Ink is his, he just couldn't- give him up. What if he lowkey falls over and dies. What if hes wrong and they cant help him and ink's stuck there as a thing forever and theyre not with him and nightmares just failed to keep him alive and well and he cant do anything and the villagers maybe were right after all and he cant be trusted with guarding things and hes an abomination BUT HE SWEARS HE CAN SO HE COULD ALWAYS GO AND GET INK BACK AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY AND oh nvm inks back. Anyways)

statusactive_shortfilm: Meet our writer and director Bob Morley! With an acting career spanning two decades, Bob is no stranger to film making. After graduating the Warner Brothers Directors workshop in 2018 he had his directing debut on The CW’s hit show The 100. So long as the political and economic system remains intact, voter enfranchisement, though perhaps resisted by overt white supremacists, is still welcomed so long as nothing about the overall political arrangement fundamentally changes. The facade of political equality can occur under violent occupation, but liberation cannot be found in the occupier’s ballot box. In the context of settler colonialism voting is the “civic duty” of maintaining our own oppression. It is intrinsically bound to a strategy of extinguishing our cultural identities and autonomy.
[...]
Since we cannot expect those selected to rule in this system to make decisions that benefit our lands and peoples, we have to do it ourselves. Direct action, or the unmediated expression of individual or collective desire, has always been the most effective means by which we change the conditions of our communities. What do we get out of voting that we cannot directly provide for ourselves and our people? What ways can we organize and make decisions that are in harmony with our diverse lifeways? What ways can the immense amount of material resources and energy focused on persuading people to vote be redirected into services and support that we actually need? What ways can we direct our energy, individually and collectively, into efforts that have immediate impact in our lives and the lives of those around us? This is not only a moral but a practical position and so we embrace our contradictions. We’re not rallying for a perfect prescription for “decolonization” or a multitude of Indigenous Nationalisms, but for a great undoing of the settler colonial project that comprises the United States of America so that we may restore healthy and just relations with Mother Earth and all her beings. Our tendency is towards autonomous anti-colonial struggles that intervene and attack the critical infrastructure that the U.S. and its institutions rest on. Interestingly enough, these are the areas of our homelands under greatest threat by resource colonialism. This is where the system is most prone to rupture, it’s the fragility of colonial power. Our enemies are only as powerful as the infrastructure that sustains them. The brutal result of forced assimilation is that we know our enemies better than they know themselves. What strategies and actions can we devise to make it impossible for this system to govern on stolen land? We aren’t advocating for a state-based solution, redwashed European politic, or some other colonial fantasy of “utopia.” In our rejection of the abstraction of settler colonialism, we don’t aim to seize colonial state power but to abolish it. We seek nothing but total liberation.

honestly, maybe it's a hot take or whatever, but I think that tearing down the veil and *potentially* bringing back the immortality to the elves would not have helped them a lot
#like ok i'm not 100% sure that tearing down the veil would even make them immortal again#bc the problem is that the elves of today are so far distanced from the ones is solas's time i don't know how that would even work#or maybe i'm stupid and missing context clues but whatever#but like what service would that *actually* do to the elves?#it won't bring their erased history back#it won't suddenly break all the chains of the ensalved elves#or give better quality of life to those in the alienages#bc take fucking tevinter#yeah if suddenly all enslaved elves became mages it sure would help them#but their enslavers are ALSO mages#who had way more training and years of practice#and then the ones in the south#if they suddenly all became mages#what would stop the templars of jus rounding everyone up and committing a genocide?#what would stop the ruler of orlais of burning the alienages again#like waht gets to me is that#the current situation of elves in thedas is a political problem#that needs to be solved through that#through rebellion through changing the status quo#to pushing for political powers to protect their elven citizes#not through magical means#bc that time is gone#and the dalish and the city elves have SUCH different cultures#than the ones of the first elves#that like...what would they gain?#solas could have spent his time actively encouraging all elves in thedas to rebel#to break their chains and rise up against their masters#but instead he's choosing to risk literally everyone's lives bc of HIS regrets#like he is only thinking of the past and of himself and of the people of his time#the way he treats the dalish is a good example of that
