IT'S ABOUT THE POWERLESSNESS OF A CHILD AND YET THE OVERARCHING POWER OF CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES.
.
.
.
DO YOU HEAR ME THAT'S SO ORV!!!
See here. BSD is a story about how all of our characters were once children. How the scars and wounds and secrets of their past will always haunt them to the present. We see it with Chuuya, Yosano, Ranpo, even Odasaku briefly, Atsushi, Tachihara, Akutagawa, Kyouka and Kenji right now, even Kouyou just a little bit. They've all overcome it or they've allowed it to consume them. And yet that brief glimpse into a past where they were young and scarred shows us once again just how human they are...every criminal, ever person, was once a child wounded by or protected from the world and doesn't that count for something even if it doesn't excuse the atrocities they commit today?
#okay this is my last reblog addition to this but i was overwrought with thoughts#and sorry to bring it back to orv BUT IT IS!#It's about the way the child is so HELPLESS against the world and yet the way the things that happen in your childhood...#stay with you for the rest of your life??#AGHHHHHH#bsd#bungo stray dogs#bungou stray dogs#bsd spoilers#orv#orv spoilers#not really but i did tag it as spoilers for bsd...#orv musings#bsd musings#character analysis#spitting nonsense#oh yeah this is also a good place to announce im likely to not be on tumblr much#unfortunately i cannot keep up with things....#i may be back but for now everything will just go into the queue including stuff for the latest eps#i say this as i look at all the drafts i didnt queue and scream.....#but yeah i need to take a step back before tumblr starts not being fun....#so if i dont reblog your stuff its because i wasnt here or because its in the queue :(#anyway watch as bsd and my actual life and orv and other medias slowly destroy my sanity#edit: also i should mention that y'all are amazing too thank you for indulging my rambles

Im genuinely curious why people dont wanna read orv side story. Everyone who started it thinks its amazing, yet a big percentage of orv fans ignore it for some reason. Ive heard an explanation like 'there is no kim dokja' as in we dont see 100% kdj but thats not true. What you get in the side story is what you had. There were almost no changes. When you started reading kdj was already fragmented. He was never 100% from the beginning- his 100% self just haunts the narrative, as people say. The novel you read is an attempt so save him. Meanwhile in side story you get all those different flavours of kdj. Is there another reason? Are you afraid that the ending you dreamt of wasnt true? Well, rest assured, because hsy's plan did work. Are you scared the characters are different? Well, kimcom appears quite frequently I would say, especially in the middle, as well as other characters. Even OD and SP are there! Seriously, Im so curious!! Please tell me why you dont want to read it...

A very sane rant about the Epilogue
Wrote this after I finished reading the epilogue and needed to rant lol. Spoilers obviously
oh my lord what a TORTUROUS epilogue I just read like seriously???
Don't get me wrong, it's well written like the rest of the story, but it is just 35 chapters of the characters getting pulled around getting destroyed like oml
I read episode 99 this morning and it was an incredible end, open-ended in a perfect way and I cried a little. I was then like, oh I should read the epilogue now, I'm sure it will just be KDJ looking down on his companions to see how they're growing and how everyone eventually moves forward and forges ahead with him still in their hearts. What a mistake that was.
First I quickly clocked onto the fact that this was only an epilogue thematically (?) and was actually just a continuation of the story, which was cool. And then I actually started reading it and 👁️👁️
KDJ gets called out in a way very suiting of the scene by the one who was most likely to notice, HSY and it's a great scene which made me thing that, at least epilogue 1, was going to be about them coming to terms with this 49% KDJ. Then it started spiralling
What could have been a seemingly very nice and deep epilogue about coming to terms turned into the author repeatedly tearing into the characters. It's 35 chapters of the characters desperately trying to save KDJ only to fail, despair, and bicker. They are given hope after hope and it is just torn away every time and as the reader you feel it every time as well, every time you think the resolution is round the corner it gets yanked away.
It is soul destroying to see how they all fall apart and separate, especially after turn 1865 which just made the who situation worse, then they fight, then a solution is found, which then goes wrong again, then it starts going right, only for it to go wrong again again
And on the final chapter, hope is gifted back to us, only for us to never see it come to fruition, because the story was never for us readers. It existed, and always has existed, for one reader, one Dokja, and I'm not them.
When I shared this last part, someone pointed out that "we are all that one reader, by reading this story, we helped that ending we want to see come to pass. as much as we write the ending by imagining it, it's also telling us: that ending can't exist without us. dokja won't make it without us. so we have to survive, too." which I believe to be a very interesting point of view.
I had personally read it more as I am a 'collateral' reader, someone who happened to find the story on its way to dokja, and in return for helping it spread, I was allowed to view that story and enjoy it myself. However, when it's re-read under the context they presented, it reveals a different, although still, very interesting concept. The idea that everyone is the reader serves to validate our own imaginations. It tells us that our interpretations, understandings, and derivatives, are all correct, as long as we continue to create them, and someone continues to view them. It a much more hopeful perspective for a collective fanbase such as the one surrounding orv.
Anyway amazing epilogue which perfectly characterised everyone to end off the incredible story, I'm going to go finish my looming assignments before I end up locating the side-stories I need to read or googling fan-fics :D

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
So sorry for the late answer!
1. Athanasia de Alger Obelia (Who Made Me A Princess)
First hyperfixation, the manhwa I saw from start to finish. Art is just absolutely beautiful and I've been attached from the very start. Her character arc surrounding her father, Claude, had me clutching my pearls and sobbing my eyes out.
2. Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Strongest hyperfixation on the series yet. There's a certain feel I get whenever I see or read content about him. Do I relate to him? Concerningly. But it's the sort of connectedness I feel when reading what Odasaku thinks of Dazai and me agreeing and being called out half of the time lol. Lastly, he's just so pretty.
3. Chuuya Nakahara (Bungou Stray Dogs)
This man's backstory has me in a chokehold. He's gone through so much shit but, compared to other characters, he remains a "good" man. Such a complex character I can't get enough of tbh. Asagiri really paired the donut man and one of the most beautiful written characters together and I love it/pos. Lastly, also very pretty. Imagining him together with Dazai, whether platonic or romantic, is also a treat.
4. Wilbur Soot (dsmp, qsmp, general yt)
His content just, helped me get through quarantine. Also his songs are just bangers, and Lovejoy is one of my top favorite bands next to The Neighborhood.
5. Kim Dokja (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint)
One of the first Korean novels I've ever read and finished. He is just such a well-done character, and ORV as a story in general should become a literary classic (in my humble opinion). The way he seeks comfort in a story and is willing to stay until its very end, I relate to that so much, and I just feel for this tragedy-surrounded man. I wish only the best for him and his company.
6. Cale Henituse (Trash of the Count's Family)
I remember reading the novel in its early stages and waking up for school, to then eat cereal and slowly finish reading what's been published in the dim light. Haven't touched the second book yet, but the first book was just, woah. Amazing. Rollercoaster ride. Our young lord really should start looking out for his health more, everyone's so worried.
7. Han Sooyoung (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint)
Her story arc of being an antagonist, to the third member of their trio, and [spoiler], was an absolute blast. Her character was written with such a personality she touched my heart with her spunk and gentle care towards her friends. What she's done for KDJ is absolutely what tore my heart out. She deserves so much. They all do. Speaks even more to me since I'm a writer. Love her with all my heart <3.
8. Achilles (Greek Mythos, the Song of Achilles)
He amuses me. His rage, his reactions, the slaughter he made across the battlefield, and the way he eventually died. The fact we have historical evidence from a vase that people back then saw him rolled up into a blanket burrito during his sulking period. That he sent out one of his "closest" men in his own armory and grew enraged (understatement) when he returned as a corpse. I just, love him. Words cannot explain how I hold him, and Patroclus, to a high regard in my heart.
9. Tallulah (qsmp)
Best egg child to ever exist. Second is Chayanne. The admin for this character just stole us from the very start. Deserves a thousand bamboo flutes.
10. Ayna and Ranonthean (Secret Lady)
Might be considered cheating but these two are a couple and the toxicity cannot exist without the other. The slow unfurling of how their love story that led to the actual FL and ML's current predicament (read the story it's so good) absolutely rocked my shit. Like, omfg their children. Her family. Fate itself. I wanna sock Fate in the face. They're in love, but their love cannot thrive in a place like that. At least not for long. And it shows; the chapter this image is from, side story 11, has me by the throat. Banana-nim's art just makes everything better. They're relatively good for each other, but because of the situations forced on them, shit happens. Doomed by the narrative indeed.
Special manhwa couple mentions:
Angela and Rayburn, "I Stan the Prince"
Penelope and Callisto, "Death is The Only Ending for the Villainess"
Ines and Carcel, "This Marriage was Bound to Fail Anyway"
Shuri and Nora, "Stepmother's Marchen"
Eris and Anakin, "Kill The Villainess"
Raeliana and Noah, "Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Manor"

So I finished The Earth is Online.
Lemme start by saying that I started this novel because a lot of ORV fans were saying that the MCs were similar and also their relationship was similar, let me say that this is all bullshit. The two MCs from The Earth is Online and the two MCs from ORV are completely different. They aren't even close to being the same in the slightest. Unless people think that smart people = all similar. So if someone tells you to read this novel cuz it is "similar" to ORV then you'll be highly disappointed.
With that out of the way The Earth is Online was great and a very fun read!
Tang Mo is a very easy-to-follow MC and the kind of guy that doesn't like dealing with bullshit. He is here to do one thing and one thing only: Survive. And he does this very well and in very entertaining ways. He isn't the kind of guy that likes to fuck around unless he's fucking someone over. He is also very serious most of the time and is only playful once he gets into a relationship with Fu Wendou. Without a doubt, he is following the stoic-cold and logical MC trope and I think he fills that role extremely well.
Fu Wendou is a cool and powerful ML and the secondary MC. He is calculating, smart, and very powerful. He is without a doubt busted, OP, and the one that highlights the MC Golden Halo the most, sometimes more than Tang MO. He is very tactical due to his military background but he also has an awkward fun side to him in which he likes to tell jokes but no one ever gets them or seems to understand that he is trying to joke. He is also a stoic-cold face and logical MC but add that to the fact that he's busted.
Honestly, when I first started reading this I wasn't sure how these two were going to get together when both of them pretty much share too many character tropes to the point that they feel far too similar at times, but that's the point. The two are very similar and that's why they work so well together and know how to fulfill a role that the other might be lacking and that's because they know each other so well.
Now, I say that I wasn't sure how the two were going to get together but to be honest, that isn't the point of the novel at all. The Earth is Online might be BL but it is obviously a novel that wishes to be a story first and foremost and not a romance or a trope of the BL genre. The Earth is Online cares more about the story than any of its characters and relationships and it shows. The novel is the strongest when they are playing deadly games, or when they are fighting the tower and the bosses and to be honest, that's what I was the most hyped about.
Yeah, sure, I wanted Fu Wendou and Tang Mo to develop their relationship but midway through the novel, it was obvious that this was gonna be a deadly, and hot slow burn. In fact, the relationship between Fu Wendou and Tang Mo starts very slow, and then steps on the gas and runs off a cliff cuz as it turns out the two are already into one another and once they find out who they are, the relationship develops even faster. Fu Wendou and Tang Mo aren't romantic either, and they aren't big on words, they have a few moments here and there but nothing that's praiseworthy tbh.
But I was having the most fun when reading the games they were playing and the deadly battles and that's why you should read The Earth is Online, because the core plot is amazing. Some of this shit was too high IQ for me and my pea brain but I was still so invested that I couldn't put the book down until I was done.
A solid 9/10 as a Shonen story, and a rough 6/10 as a BL. Finally a solid 8/10 as a whole. The reason why it isn't higher is cuz of the lack of character development and also the relationships in between characters felt too fragile at times, which I understand makes sense due to the setting but it still left you feeling thirsty for some kind of development or attachment.
If you read this expecting the gay Shit Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk have got going on then no, this isn't it chief, in fact Dokja and Joonghyuk are more romantic and gayer than these two gay men.

ORV AND THE POWER OF CHOICE
I’d like to start with Kim Dokja. From the very beginning of the novel, he made the claim that it was easier to be alone. That is was “comfortable.” Despite this proclamation, he lays his life down time and time again for his companions. He /chooses/ a harder path: a path of love, a path that he was never shown personally.
"I really don't understand it. Why are you helping me, Hyunsung hyung and the noonas? If you are alone... you would be able to survive better."
He could calmly speak such words before his death. Maybe this kid's mind was already dead.
"Yes, you are right." Another ground rat fell to the ground with its head cut off. "It is comfortable to live alone, eat alone and survive alone. But..."
The “But..” really takes me out because he’s saying it is easier. But I don’t want easy. I want you. I want all the problems that come with saving you. I want to die for you. I want to be with you until the end of this.
He makes the conscious choice to protect his companions, shielding them best he can from the dangers of the scenarios, even if it comes at the cost of his own life. He doesn’t ever consider the unhealable wounds his companions are left with when he sacrifices himself. I think this is him attempting to protect people the way he yearned to be protected. I see this especially with Shin Yoosung, Lee Gilyoung, and Lee Jihye.
“I saw the party members screaming in despair.
[ Why are you trying to save them? You can see the ending even if you live alone. ]
‘The ending is only meaningful if they are there.’”
“It was all planned and ahjussi used us for your purpose. Let's say we are characters of that damn Ways of Survival and everything is set!" Lee Jihye was crying, watching me while biting her pallid lips. ‘Then… why did you throw your life away for us so many times?’”
“Answer me! If we are really characters in a fictional novel, why did you die for us over and over?”
“Tell me that I did good until now – whether I made the wrong choices or not, whether I would get to see the desired conclusion when I reach the end of this story or not.”
“Kim Dokja's salvation was cruel. Like rescuing a drowning person with a blade, those saved by him were inflicted an unhealable wound.”
Now I’d like to talk about Han Sooyoung. The woman who made the conscious choice to save that boy who thought he couldn’t be saved. I want to remind you, Kim Dokja isn’t anyone extraordinary. Which is why Han Sooyoung’s love for him is so.. special. At the end of the day, Kim Dokja was just a kid struggling with abuse and the arrest of his mother. A kid who liked to read. A lot of Kim Dokja’s story is about learning that it’s actually /okay/ to let people care about you. It’s not selfish to want people to love you, or to yearn for a family. To wish you could’ve had more than you did. Han Sooyoung gave up every single one of her nights and slept her days away to write for him. To most, Kim Dokja was just a lousy employee, a quiet guy who wasted his days away on his phone. But to Han Sooyoung, that man was worth destroying the entire world for. She made the /choice/ to save him. Her actions prove that you don’t need to be amazing to be worth saving. You don’t need to be the “main character,” and you don’t need to sacrifice yourself to be worthy of the care others so desperately want to give you. Sometimes, people just genuinely love you. Even when it feels impossible, or as if we are undeserving. Han Sooyoung making that decision. The decision to save Kim Dokja, to /love/ him. I think that’s one of the most powerful things we can do as human beings. To choose to be there for someone. To choose to show up every day. To /choose/ to do things that hurt because we want to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of another. Han Sooyoung would do it all over again. She wouldn’t take a moment back.
This brings me to YooHan—something we need to talk about more. Han Sooyoung essentially crafted Yoo Joonghyuk, looked at him and said: I am going to destroy your life to save someone. And Yoo Joonghyuk said: okay, I will let you destroy me. I will watch my world fall to pieces over and over again. I will suffer. I will be put through agony. I will question why any of this is happening to me. I will struggle every day with the meaning of my miserable life. And I will carry this burden with you. Han Sooyoung and Yoo Joonghyuk did everything they could to save that lonely Kim Dokja. I often think about secretive plotter when he found out about Oldest Dream. When he was exposed to the reality of his agony, when his tormentor was finally revealed. But when he set his eyes upon that sad, pathetic, lonely little boy crying and repeating “I am Yoo Joonghyuk,” it was all.. okay. His story had saved someone. Secretive plotter who has been drowning in an eternal misery was almost.. content. And Kim Dokj was confused by his reaction. He couldn’t comprehend why Secretive Plotter wasn’t lashing out at Oldest Dream as Dokja had tried to do. This couldn’t possible be the ending he wanted, right? How could he be okay with this. He should kill that monster. That /monster/. He should end his miserable life for all the torment he put him through. That monster.. is me. I am a monster. Who could love us. Who /would/ love something so vile and useless. Who would possibly care about the well being of me.
Yes. Han Sooyoung created Yoo Joonghyuk. And much of his story is about his sense of agency, struggling between the lines of what was written for him, and the choices he made based off his own free will. And while Yoo Joonghyuk was written /for/ Kim Dokja, Han Sooyoung never wrote that he would /love/ Kim Dokja. Again, he made a conscious decision. He made the conscious choice to love that man. Yoo Joonghyuk always felt as though things were out of his control, like his actions were not his own—a puppet, just as Secretive Plotter described him. But he /did/ make his own choices. He loved his companions. He loved Han Sooyoung. He loved Kim Dokja.
Han Sooyoung /chose/ to write that story. Kim Dokja /chose/ to read it. And to some extent, Yoo Joonghyuk /chose/ to live it.
I think orv has a lot of themes. But at its core I really do believe it’s about learning that even when we feel like the worst person, the most horrible, disgusting, and unlovable monster on planet earth, someone out there will choose to love you. Again, I say choose intentionally here. To choose to remember the things someone loves. To choose to be there when they need you. To /choose/ to shoulder their burdens despite your own which you are already carrying. Someone out there wants you to exist. Someone out there wants you to live. Orv teaches its readers that if we are all a little patient, maybe someday someone will choose to love you. Someone will decide that yes, you are worth moving Heaven and Hell for. I love you, despite your issues. I choose to love you because you can’t love yourself. I will show you how much I love you when words can’t express it. One day, I hope someone writes a story for you. And I hope that one day, you will no longer be lonely. And finally, understand what it feels like to be loved.

wip practices hehe
I randomly tried reading the webcomic for SSS Class Revival Hunter and its honestly SO GOOD? like,,, the plot is really interesting and the way you slowly learn more about the main character's personality ,,, I'm so drawn in.
also?? from an art major perspective,, the art in this work is just so beautiful. There was this one panel that really stood out to me from when he completes the 10th (?) floor and its just so??? beautifully composed?? I'm not going to put a screenshot bc im lazy, but like its a panel with the main character opening a door to a blazing fire. He's looking back towards the "camera" and the emotion on his face is just so?? it's just. heart wrenching imo. The use of lighting, colours, and values??? just,,, amazing. I'm literally gonna start foaming at the mouth. AND THEN, the art throughout the work is just so versatile ?? The artist tends to change the style a bit to match when stories are told in it and what not... but it works so well. It's just so dynamic!!! GOD i love art.
Each character has an appealing design??? plus the art is really beautiful... Please... theres so many pretty girls.... mother i lov them
Please go try reading SSS Class Revival Hunter, it deserves more love.
plus, since we're mostly tcf and orv stans as well.. you get to watch the light drain from his eyes and suffer. Its right up our alley ;;;;
A warning though. Theres su*cide in the series. (it's also called SSS Class Su*cide Hunter)

hi! i really really love your animations!! to be honest, i struggled with the beggining of orv and probably i wouldn't have ever finished reading it, but after seeing an excerpt of your animation on tiktok, i was like "i NEED to read the whole story just to watch this" (i always start tv shows/books/etc over smallest and weirdest things lol). Anyway, thank you for this!!! (emotional damage) your work also kinda inspired me to create my own animations. So, all in all, thank you again for your work.
PS - have you read side stories?
Thankyou so much for your kind words!! I wish you the best of luck on your own animation endeavors!! you have got this!! I think the most heartwarming comments I have received are people like yourselves picking up the story again. Its pretty easy to get wrapped up in the bittersweet tones of ORV at times and forget about the laughs and batshit insane moments it has. Overall i found the message of ORV to be a heartwarming one. My story wont be over until I decide it to be. I may have people in the world who read a couple of my life's chapters, but I will be the sole reader to the end of it, so I should create a story that I enjoy reading. (unless your favourite genres are apocalyptic alien murder type situations then i may ask you to reconsider) I have read some of the available side stories online! 'A Dumpling Made by Someone Else', and 'Someone Who Remembers You' (i think the full version, not the summary). I have seen the odd bits and pieces from Mia and others overtime! If you are referring to the ongoing sidestory with Lee Hakhyun then sadly i have not :'D, only the first chapter and any additional chapters i have found floating about online. I try to keep up with it by chapter summaries provided by fans online and its pretty amazing so far i am loving what they are doing. I tried to make a naver account and get it verified (?) so i could use the coins i got from events and then try to machine translate but i got lost at the verification stage :')

Okay you made me start reading villain initialization and 1. Cannot thank you enough it's sooo good 2. How could you? I'm at lime 90th chapter and I'm hooked. The drama, the fights but most of all a big villain screaming in his head when his aunt makes him raise his head while vacuuming.
The only thing that Ive a problem with (besides the changes in translation, but thanks to your post at least now I know they are often referring to the same person) is jumping too much. Sometimes I would like them to linger on some topics or scenes because they are so good, to just let them breath. But yeah, that's my preference, I had the same problem with ORV so it's mostly my preference
So once again thank you for the recommendation. I'm trying so hard not to binge it but it's just too good
*sound of a fishing line being tugged on* WE'VE GOT ANOTHER ONE!!!
i'm glad youre liking it so much so far!! i also wish some scenes had been given more time to breathe. i feel like villinit would've worked great if there wasnt pressure for artists to make releases on a specific schedule. i also think it would be AMAZING as A Novel (not a web novel, cause thatd have the same/similar schedule issues i think)
regardless though villinit is such a good manhua i love it sooo much its so sad and happy and funny one of the funniest running gags in villinit is Ling Chen insisting he's beiyuan's number one supervillain and how he isnt getting the fear and respect he serves and everyone just flat out ignoring his dramatic ass

pssst. webcomic recommendations. pretty pleasd
from your url i'm gonna go out on a limb and say you like orv. excellent.
my number one recommendations for you are:
Surviving Romance (on Webtoon): Chaerin is trapped in a romance novel. At first, she loved it, but whenever she attempted to divert the plot... it did not end well for her. If you've seen people talk about it, you know what twist it pulls in episode 1, but if you don't, please go into it blind. Just read episode 1, and decide if it's for you.
We have a majorly female cast (there's like, 3 dudes max, and they're all side characters). Big focus on female relationships and the idealization of romance. Chaerin moves away from desparately clinging to a romance with a man that doesn't satisfy her as she befriends her classmates who she previously only thought of as "extras" to the central romance of her life. Great mystery elements, extremely suspenseful at parts, I would die for Hisui, she is the best, she is the cutest.
Also lots of meta shenanigans and timeloops. And the episode 1 genre twist. insane comic all around. beautiful art too. it's the opposite of orv's text based focus in that surviving romance could only ever work in a primarily visual medium
Next up, The Ember Knight! Also on webtoon!
After his brother is murdered right before his eyes, Nagyunn swears to avenge him. However, being twins.... who can be sure which one died that day? He takes on his brother's identity as a knight apprentice to gather the forces necessary and bides his time until the opportunity to strike.
Nagyunn is Fucking Amazing if you like kdj because he is. the exact same and not at all. Nagyunn is Very Intense all the time but what they have in common is that. Nagyunn's only skill is lying. He is lying about his name. He is lying about his skills. He is lying about his motivations. What if you had to solve every single problem with a deception check. The insane bluffing he gets up to is both suspenseful and lowkey hilarious.
Biggest complaint would be the amount of characters with similar names. Nagyunn and Nuljin, and in the most recent arc, Lauzun, Laurun, and Laukun. Are You Kidding Me
i've read the entire thing twice and every single update puts me in absolute agony.
Other comics I won't gush about for as long and that are probably more off the ball from orv:
Estio (on Reaperscans):
Starts out VERY cinderella-esque with a boy who can talk to animals and gets bullied about it. So he decides to leave town! Fuck yall! With his gift he finds work as a Fantasy Adventurer, except there's more to reading hearts than it appears, and there's many people who'd do anything to have that ability on their side....
I haven't been the same since the chapter where Estio kills people. go boy go. his sidekicks include a talking cat, a talking monkey, and a talking cactus. the cactus thirsts for blood.
The demon prince goes to the academy (also on reaperscans):
i fucking love this one. dumbass author is put into his own novel as karmic punishment. but being reborn as the demon prince in the world of "the demon king is already dead" puts a damper on a promise of slice of life shenanigans
the first chapter of the comic sucks it's just exposition but after that i love this one dearly. after the initial running for your life arc it does turn to school life stuff but protag boy reinhardt is so insane that i'd love just watching him do homework. i love that boy very much. he will kick people in the nuts. the school aspect is kind of novel in the sense that he's the obligatory bully character.
it's fantastic. love him.
uhhh what else have i got. quick pitch time!
Vindicaris (has its own website, also on tapas): Elemental beings Ces and Sel vow revenge on the company that created them. Extremely edgy (which is fantastic), the most dysfunctional protag duo ever, fun perspective shifts between Ces and Sel as well as people still at the company. Nobody's really in the right and everyone uniquely sucks.
Ending Makers (reaperscans): Two top MMO players get isekai'd into their game. Only problem: their characters are engaged. Now these two bozos need to team up and prevent the demon apocalypse. Fake dating slow burn type of stuff yknow.
Dummy's Dummy (webtoon): a little girl who can see ghosts needs to stop the haunted toys her grandfather left behind by teaming up with an even more haunted doll. described by the author as "kid friendly horror." i havent read the reboot on webtoon, just the original, but it should still be good.
This Isekai Maid is Forming A Union! (webtoon): what it says on the tin. Brigette is sick of constantly reincarnating as a maid in isekai stories, so she's unionizing the Anders household. Neither shitty love interests with a penchant for murder nor leading ladies with superiority complexes are going to stop her. (this comic has a bone to pick with shojo isekai, and i am cheering as it goes for the throat).
i also have WAYY more but i think this is enough for now. my main haunts tend to be webtoon, tapas, reaperscans, and hiveworks. i especially recommend hiveworks if you're looking for original stuff. reaperscans mainly has action shonen shit but it satisfies my cravings for schlock. though there's also some gems buried there. webtoons and tapas should both be well known enough on their own, though i tend to prefer webtoon over tapas these days.

omg that's SO cool you started ORV for han sooyoung; she's so cool (and I'm glad you're enjoying it for its full cast as well!! :3)
Hehe yeah it's interesting so far! I do think it wouldn't have been something that would've caught my eye without so many people talking about how much they like it, but I'm also a sucker for a well-written woman who likes to cause problems on purpose. She's so funny to me. Can't wait to find out what her deal is. I suspect a few things about her relation to the original Ways of Survival and not just the plagiarized version she wrote but I'm not entirely sure. There's a lot going on.
And yeah! The whole cast is fun! Yoo Sangah is such a sweetheart but she really shows the strain of that while doing her best to hold strong... she's an icon honestly. Same with Lee Hyunsung... he's so quick to try and help. :') I also have such strong feelings about all the kids... they're all very sweet and helpful, Lee Jihye is hilarious, and Lee Gilyoung is a bit scary sometimes but I love him for it. Also got attached to Shin Yoosung almost instantly lol. I hope she will be ok... unlike 41st SYS. :(
I've already mentioned how cool I think Jung Heewon is... she's amazing. And I do empathize with Yoo Joonghyuk's situation, and I'm eager to know where his character is going.
And Kim Dokja is my favorite little shit of a scammer. He's wonderful. I am curious as to what his objective is here. I figure it has something to do with YJH but... idk. Loved his and Bihyung's trolling of the other dokkaebi that was fantastic.
#thanks for the ask!#wow there's a lot of people here who like orv#that's really cool!#oh one last addition: paul sucks. get fucked paul.#orv#orv spoilers#storyrambles#oh oh! also! i called the identity of the king of wanderers in advance!#not that it wasn't obvious but still. she's also fascinating.

OOO ok, been scrolling through some asks and i am so ready to spout some more bs bc i love orv with my whole heart and i haven’t even finished the novel.
to the anon that described yoohankim as: “ They are all supremely flawed people who started at each other’s throats and misunderstand each other consistently and repeatedly but work past it anyway with a kind of reckless devotion one can only have after seeing people at their worst and realizing you love them anyway,” holy shit, thank you, you are so real, you’ve put them and my own thoughts into words i would have never thought of on my own, i think this is just what makes yoohankim so attractive to me in the first place. extremely flawed people with reckless devotion, seeing someone at their worst and deciding you still love them,,,,, what if they were actually love wins but like literally,,,,,, bc it’s their love that allows them to persevere,,,
ALSO !!! to add and explain the idea of expanding the polycule. orv’s strong point is rlly their characters and the relationships between them, which is how you get stuff like the whole group being one huge platonic happy family and the other extreme side with all of the adults in the group are in a huge polycule. their relationships r flexible in a way that they can be platonic or romantic and it wouldn’t be much of a stretch either way.
anyways i had this whole section spouting some bs abt jhw (holy shit french keyboard let me write jhw challenge) and hsy but then i realized i didn’t want to talk too much abt characters that aren’t involved in the tournament and you won’t be able to recognize. but just note that jhw and hsy has a nice dynamic bc they are like similar but different to me in a way idk how to explain. they are opposing but they are on the same side. also also, ysa and kdj being metamours (IS THAG THE WORD I CANT REMEMBER) bc i thought abt that while writing and went “they would be such chill metamours”
ik all of this is slightly off topic of yhk but i just wanted to add my two cents. anyways i noticed yhk is up against scc and i am literally sweating. i am passionate and ready to defend and advocate for yhk but i can tell thisll be a TOUGH battle. but besides that, regardless of what comes out of it, i need to say how much i respect the scc fans on the this again. they’ve really persevered through it all and came out friends with like two other groups it’s amazing honestly -Toon
metamours is correct! a friend of mine jokingly called it partner in law once and i thought it was funny so theres that also? if u wanna laugh w me
i like that scc fans have been like "oh no yoohankim is a strong opponent this might be it...." but this time its an orv fan sayin "oh gosh we're against scc" its funny that both fandoms underestimate their own power (imo) and i feel better about the match up, i think it will be a closer match than ppl expect!! but we have to wait and see

reading Hugo Pierre Martin's short story Raised by Story (link here)...I started tearing up. words really can't explain what I'm feeling. ironically, what I want to say to him is the exact feeling that can't be expressed and it's the one he's talking about in the passage.
"But that didn’t matter. Ultimately I needed to believe in a world where these things did exist. It made me believe that if a person or persons could create a world with these principals at its heart that that was enough. A person held those values and beliefs in their heart and so there was evidence that it was real...
I now have a story I’m telling. It’s not the far-reaching masterwork that I am so indebted to giving me a solid structure of…well, aspirational self, but its a start.
At the very least, it’s a story."
it's a story, it may not be anything grand or amazing or earth-shattering, but it's a story. stories that save, stories that damn, stories where I end up crying into my elbow because I don't want to admit how it made me feel...they're just really, really good stories. I didn't have a story that 'raised' me, but I get his feeling, the feeling that a narrative saved you and you can't really say it because it's not supposed to happen but it does and all you're left with is an awkward 'thank you'. (it's this passage, in a way. I've seen themes of stories that save, stories that raise (after all, I've read orv haha) but even then. a sad thing will still be sad if you repeat it a hundred times. perhaps this is my foil, that I will always need a story to save me simply because I am a reader).
stories save. they tear your heart out, wipe away your tears, and pull you onto a different road. but they save and they save and they save because that's you survive: you save or you get saved until you don't. i'll suffer, but they'll suffer with me, all the characters who die or get betrayed or get injured or fall into the jaws of the plot; they will suffer and I will suffer but at the end of the day I will survive it all thanks to them.
just...maybe it's not a thank you, but rather a slight puffy and red-eyed nod because words can only say so much. this too is a story. final quote from orv:
"The fact that you who are reading these words will survive for sure."
