Reading some of the critiques of pjotv and now I know why y’all are on tumblr and not in the writer’s room 💀💀

#ive said this before but i have to say it again because some of you guys …#calling the BLACK SAILS writers bad 😭😭 do you hear yourselves #all opinions are valid but some are stupid!!!#(i kid but also i think y’all have just aged out of pjo and are expecting something that even the og series was not delivering)#like the source material is middle grade! which is 8-12 year olds #literally the oldest of the target audience is a seventh grader lol #like i was literally six when we got assigned tlt in school #it’s a kids book and a kids show and y’all really got to start treating it like that #otherwise you’re only going to be severely disappointed #(and wrongly so because you’re expectations are skewed from years of fandom)#anyway i think the show is doing a great job of filling in plot holes and fleshing out characters and unraveling plot threads #it’s disappointing that y’all can’t see that because you want a scene by scene copy paste of the books #like some of y’all need a lesson in thematic cohesion and building a multi-season show with a specific overarching theme and message lol #because that’s something the og book series was missing #rick struggled to tie all of his ideas and messages into a cohesive goal so it felt messy at times #i actually have so many thoughts about how the show is doing a lot better than the books #the books would undermine their own goals sometimes because of the focus on action #while the show is reallying building up the characters and exploring the dynamics before the action kicks off #because why would you be invested in any type of action sequence if you don’t care about the characters?#percy jackson #annabeth chase #grover underwood #sally jackson #gabe ugliano #poseidon #percy jackson and the olympians #pjotv

Flint's "ghost" keeps tormenting him and silver keeps habitually answering back so john silver goes to the west indies version of petsmart to shop for a parrot he can then name captain flint so that he doesn't look cuckoo bananas to what remains of his crew when he talks to his ghosts because he looks like he's talking to his lil parrot

I have to put fresh sheets on my bed and make it but I've just been sitting on my bare mattress for the last 20 mins ranting to myself about this damn show

#again rewatching this with a developed adult brain is CRAZY #and I'm catching so many things I didn't notice before #and it's making everything feel even more !!! than the first time I watched the show #like!!!!like!!! somehow I never caught onto how such a strong part of flint's grief comes from the fact that he didn't try and rescue Thomas #and how his actions led to all of this happening in the first place #he could have sided against Thomas with his father. and they never would've had any of the mess that came with angering Dad #but that just wasn't possible to him anymore #because of what he felt for Thomas he had to defend his ideals. the ones they shared #and after all that. KNOWING that HE was partly responsible for what happened to Thomas!! just how painful it is that he walked away.#and fled to Nassau. and didn't do anything to try and help Thomas #like!!! the GUILT that must cause!!! the ANGUISH!!! no WONDER he's Like That Jesus Christ #and like!!! oh my GOD Toby Stephen's acting is outstanding in this #the way you could feel the palpable shift right after flint hugs Miranda. while Ashe is telling them how he can wisk them away to someplace #else in Europe. and james steps back!! you could see it in his EYES that that is the moment when Captain Flint starts to form #and you can hear it in his voice. the barely perceptible shift. that he reached his breaking point #also I completely forgot about the surprise Vane attack at the end of that episode and I nearly screamed #black sails #ALSO!!!!!! going through all of this with the knowledge that Miranda dies T^T and that Thomas is actually alive and they get reunited #is tearing my soul apart I think #these sheets may not be going on my bed tonight.....#black sails rewatch

Idk what you’d call it but maladaptive daydreaming or whatever takes up so much of my time and it’s so hard to get myself to sit down and read/watch something even if I really really like it :(

#I genuinely love Black Sails so far!! and the first Baru Cormorant book!! and ORV!!#but just getting myself to sit down and start watching initially is so hard #I can get myself to sit and knit and listen to an audiobook or make an AMV or something #because that’s not as passive #I don’t like only being able to read through audiobooks bc I miss little details and I have to rewind so often #plus not everything I want to read comes in audiobook form #I spend like 90% of my time just pacing around listening to the same songs again and again #and medication has significantly increased my ability to get myself to do things but focusing on reading or watching something is still so #hard #personal

the absolute 50/50 in the notes of that link i shared whether people are hating or thinking its cool that the black sails ships are being reused for one piece

#personally i think its neat :)#ive been curious about how those ships were apparently just like. still around unused where they used to film w them so its cool #they get to serve a new purpose and i get to see them again in a sense #also after i showed my gf black sails shes started showing me the one piece manga #and there really do seem to be certain Themes i enjoyed in black sails also present here even if so far to a less complex extent #and im always a fan of just like. very silly battle shounen powers #cpost #bs blogging #on a whole i dont like live action anime adaptations but i also watched the first episode yesterday and it was fun. i think the casting #is really good and the way they interweave a bunch of early plot points works well
