List of Star Trek characters with stuff named after them (mostly from beta canon):
Jonathan Archer
Planets: Archer IV, Archer's World
Ships: Multiple USS Archer's, the Archer-class scout ship
Stuff: Archerian Slug Juice, the primary export of Archer IV
T'Pol
Planets: T'Pol's World, the largest gas giant in known space
Travis Mayweather
Stuff: A building at Starfleet Academy is named for him
Paul Staments
Stuff: Has a shuttle on Pike's Enterprise named for him (kinda funny since Pike knows he's not dead but in the future)
Christopher Pike
Places: Pike City on Cestus III. They have a baseball team.
Stuff: A shuttle on the Enterprise-D is named for him, as is the Christopher Pike Medal of Honor.
James T. Kirk
An Akira-class starship in the DS9 novels is named U.S.S. James T. Kirk
Probably tons and tons more I've missed.

I remember some interview Chris Pine gave ages ago when Star Trek came out about how he hadn't wanted to study and use William Shatner's mannerisms and speech pattern from TOS because it would be too campy or wouldn't play well or something, which I understood for the way they rebooted that universe.
But Paul Wesley DID IT! He somehow captured TOS Kirk P E R F E C T L Y while making it look natural and updated and sexy. It was magnificent. People who never liked 60s Kirk need to watch Strange New Worlds S2E03 because this is who Kirk always was, but no longer through a 1960s lens of social behavior and ideals.
I did fall in love with Star Trek (2009), but that was an AU with a brash, reckless Kirk that, while true to the changed circumstances of his timeline, did not capture the same Kirk as TOS. The one who loved an adrenaline rush, but was a CLEVER NERD who knew how to reign it in because you do actually have to be responsible to be a Captain with commendations and make that rank so young.
I can't wait to see more of this Kirk and really hope we eventually get to see him leading his own show someday!

I really need like a flashback episode or tie in novel of M'Benga and Chapel during the war. Like give his inability to let go and her inability to hang on the same flashpoint.

The High Country would be a fun movie: Pike riding horses and being a general nuisance 💙, Uhura and her little Empatherm buddy “Empy,” Vulcans sailing ships, and Hemmer being ridiculously smart and awesome. It was great!
Visually, I think it’d be better than “The Enterprise War” since for a lot of it, Pike, Una and Spock are separated in either parts of the ships or stuck in a battle suit. But that’s be cool too

Make It So Friday

The Enterprise (Captain’d by Christopher Pike) is pulled into running in a race by a ‘friendly alien’ that they meet. The lives of the Enterprise crew, as well as other ships’ crews are all on the line. They have to win, otherwise all the lives are forfeit. Also the Enterprise even loses some of their crew to the other ships they’re running against (against their will). And, how can I forget, the Scorpion part of space is lousy with totally insane navigational and gravitational problems. Can the Enterprise crew figure it all out in time and save everyone?
This was a surprisingly intense Strange New Worlds comic book. But, it was also such a fun read. Reading it really did feel like a race to the end. Petal to the floor, go go go. Oh, and, my very favourite point was the mostly logical aliens and Spock. That was a really fun subplot in a really great read.

Pike in a western
Tumblr media
Anson Mount said once he'd love to do a "western-style" episode. Well, I'm reading this novel and it's basically Pike in a Western!

[Transcription: "Ferengi," the Romulan officer demanded, "you are in violation of intergalactic treaties and we are perfectly within our right to destroy..."
"Name your price!" Nog demanded. The crew looked at him in stunned silence. Sure he did not say what they thought he had just said.
He argued with the (simulated) Romulan for a while, and then the transmission appeared to begin breaking up, and then the simulator halted entirely. Nog broke the Kobayashi Maru by trying to deal with it in a way it wasn't programmed to handle: the Ferengi way. /end transcription]
just found some new Nog lore...

Edit: it appears this is an excerpt from Strange New Worlds, an anthology of Trek short stories, which was titled “The Bottom Line”

Exclusive Interview: Christina Chong of 'Impact Winter' on Audible
For someone who loves novels and reading as much as I do, I’ve only recently gotten into audiobooks and audio dramas. Perhaps I was a stickler for needing a physical book in my hands, but there’s a convenience to being able to listen to a story while driving or doing your chores. Audible has been one of the leaders in the industry for audiobooks, with a one-stop shop for any title you can…

Do you fantasize that your iPhone is a tricorder?

Do you know what Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam means?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may suffer from a serious Star Trek deficiency. Fortunately, Laughing Boy Books has a cure for that — our select Trek book collection!
