so we went back to easton and st michaels, the first time after my mum’s passing. we used to go ev’ry summer because it was not too far away yet felt so idyllic, a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of work, and because my mum loved crabbing. the kids would bike to the downtown and pokemon go. we would debate for hours which ice cream shop was better - at that time, there were three shops and now there are only two. the xmas shop is still there along with the drug store which is chock full of tchotchkes. our fave thrift shop by the post office is gone but the new bookstore is an absolute delight!

It was the ugliest building in town, probably built around 1970, when modernity was brown and angular, and has gone through several reincarnations. As the Chesapeake Seafood Market it looks nothing like its former self but is bright and airy. It is a place I like to visit for its convenient parking as well as it phenomenal selection. When I stopped by last Thursday, the meat market was closed. I hope it is only closed temporarily since they had the most wonderful roasted chickens.
