Much as I love the idea of PIDW being rife with terrible porn tropes and interesting (if contrived) erotic writing conventions, all actual evidence in canon would seem to indicate that apart from some sex pollen and "uh oh, the protagonist has gone into a fugue state, whatever shall calm him down?" type stuff, it was fairly vanilla.

Like, that's part of both Shen Yuan and Airplane's frustration with it, I think. It's full of sex and it's not even sex either of them enjoy the concept of. Airplane was fully just trying to pander to an audience he felt he knew and could manipulate, but not one either he nor his ultra mega hate reader were actually part of.

Not that they understood that themselves at the time.

I mean I know fandom likes to make Airplane less closeted than Shen Yuan (for a lot of reasons), which I support, but I feel like in canon at least... he didn't cotton on to Luo Binghe's change in interests at first either. It wasn't until he was watching his protagonist obsess over resurrecting Shen Qingqiu at any cost that the light started to dawn. For Shang Qinghua, also, many more years have passed since he was back in their original world. He's had more time to reconcile himself to certain ideas.

What glimpses we get of the person he was before he died, was reborn, and lived a whole other life well into adulthood, would seem to indicate that he probably wasn't much better than Shen Yuan back when he was writing.

I mean he probably was still BETTER (the bar is on the floor), like I bet he could have a fantasy featuring Mobei Jun without having an existential crisis or pretending it didn't happen, but he would have probably been like "wow I guess I've been writing so much m/f porn that I can't even enjoy it anymore and my brain had to come up with something else, anyway Mobei would make a hot chick tho, I'm gonna write one of his cousins as Binghe's next wife" and gotten on with things.

Basically I guess what I'm driving at is that it would be funny if SQQ and SQH figured they had a solid handle on the kinds of sex pollen-y porn tropes to expect from the world (mostly just the occasional fuck-or-die that missionary can cure), only for the rug to get ripped out from under them because the system incorporated a bunch of stuff from Airplane's subconscious to fill out the gaps. Not even his notes. His daydreams and fantasies.

even sqq, who's nyy's favorite kid (because he reminds her of her shizun, during the good days before lbh became a disciple) despite not being her kid (she herself never had any kids, which doesn't bother her as much because neither did lmy or shl and they're the head wives still so) (in the same vein, Liu Mingyans favorite kid is the one who behaves most like her late brother)

This world's version of Shen Yuan, however, was born as the son of one of mbj's advisors, before said advisor and his family died in a tragic accident. so he was adopted by mobei-jun and shang qinghua at the ripe old age of barely a few weeks old.

His name: Mo Yuan, named after an old friend of Shang Qinghua's from his secret pre-transmigration life (In this world, SY is not a transmigrator.... maybe he is a reincarnation.... but there's no real way to tell, he sure doesn't remember anything)

So he's an ice demon. looks like Shen Yuan but everything about him is like 30 shades more MBJ. he adores his parents, and his parents adore him, and because of this mutual adoration he has successfully grown up completely secure in his status as their child in spite of fully knowing of his adopted status.

This being said, there are very few individuals who also know this fact, because since the transition was so fast (and because Shang Qinghua knows stuff, and Mobei-Jun knows he knows stuff) they just bullshit it and say that Mo Yuan is a magical plant baby who was born as a full demon in spite of technically being a half demon because of magic plant bullshit.

He looks enough like shang qinghua to make it believable anyways, so it's fine.

Mo Yuan and Shang Qinghua also have a really weird relationship where MY at some point got into Shang Qinghua's writings (only the age appropriate stuff.... he found out about the porn at a later age) and violently hated it, but Shang Qinghua found it:

A. funny that his son was so violently opinionated and

B. thought it was important that his son be able to have an outlet for these emotions so he honestly encouraged it.

So now they have a really close parental relationship but also are kind of friendly-close because when Mo Yuan found some of SQH's writings, he immediately was like "oh my god Baba you suck???? at writing????? How?????? You are a scribe???? This is so awful???? Baba, you could do this better, and this better, and- what the hell, take this out, oh my god..."

Also, his name in the au is 漠垣 Mo Yuán meaning North[ern] Wall, but his courtesy name is 漠 雪峰 Mo Xuefēng, meaning North[ern] Snow[y] Peak.

However, he is beloved by much of the palace staffers, who have watched him grow up much closer than any of Luo Bingge's children, who mostly grow up in the relative isolation of their courtyards and palaces and palace wings, so he is referred to by many of them by his nickname, 雪花 Xuehua, meaning snowflake.

So anyways, he meets + kinda grows up alongside many of the peak lords because he grows up spending a lot of time in the palace by virtue of his dads being, well, Mobei Jun and Shang Qinghua.

Shang Qinghua and Liu Mingyan, shippers prime and book club buddies into this universe (though Mo Yuan staunchly ignores all of LMY's writings because his face is wayyy too thin for that) immediately sees the way that the various children of Luo Bingge climb over each other in desperate attempts to charm and woo the chilly Mo Xuefeng...

and maybe eventually, how one son of Luo Bingge looks at him and how Mo Yuan looks back.

dad aeroplane!'s not getting out of my head. so here's some notes that kinda pick up after the ending of this post.

later that evening, luo binghe is summoned to the bamboo house. the rumor has spread over the 12 peaks, so even the bullies give him pitying looks. lbh panics because he's certain sqq is going to take the opportunity to finish him off.

LBH stares at Shen Qingqiu. . "You want me to sleep here?" "If you ever take that tone with me again, I will cut your tongue out. And I won't repeat myself."

or maybe:

"You're actually my father?" SQQ curses the chain of events that lead him here. "What did I say about your tongue. I have only said that it might be so," he lies. "Your face looks identical to your mothers." Lbhs stony expression twists at that. His next question might have been whether he knew his mother, but the implications of what exactly sqq might have to say about his mother apparently help him keep his mouth shut.

SQQ decides that even if the protagonist hates the father who abused him, he can balance the abuse with help. an abundance of it.

maybe he starts out by arranging weekly teaching sessions in the bamboo house. the convenient little side room is converted into a study hall and he relentlessly grills luo binghe on whatever he's set him to learn by the end of a shichen.

luo binghe does not appreciate this. he's not allowed to do anything else in the house except cook for himself on the times he'll be late to dinner.

if he's allowed to stay in the bamboo house it is the same deal.

sqq forgets to consider how much he's come to think of the bamboo house as a sanctuary, he doesn't realise that Luo Binghe is learning his bad habits and tells, and he especially doesn't notice when he takes a bite of Luo binghes congee and mutters that it needs more flavour.

by this time it's been an year. lbh's revenge planning does not withstand in the face of his pettiness. the comment on his cooking is the last straw and LBH pesters shizun about exactly how his recipes and cooking need improvement.

this may somehow lead to binghe realising his shizun may be a human and not just an immortal peak lord .. and then refusing to acknowledge that because it would mean he has to sympathise. with the man who abandoned him

my thoughts on how aeroplane would be as sqq are that on one hand he could fix pidw so well! but on the other hand.

(yk before i read the aeroplane extras i was convinced that aeroplane was sent early into pidw to repent or whatever. narratively you could argue that he's paying for sacrificing integrity for money.

but what about repentance for being evil? that villainous shit? idk i expected a plot twist where he knew that pidw was real all along and was paying for having written such an ending. so i'm just saying. maybe a recently dead aeroplane acted way more like bingge than would be good for anybody.)

anyways in this au he's just also anxiety, but overworked anxiety.

on the other side of this there's a somewhat panicked 20-something year old who died alone and without closure. the only improvement in his life so far has been fresh food? clothes? the ability to touch grass maybe? if he isn't kept busy with strategising and scheming and fixing the shitty body the original shen qingqiu left behind he's having a crashout on a weekly schedule. so being nice to Luo Binghe isnt exactly easy, but being a deadbeat dad is out of the question when he's this close to changing his fate. Something he's learnt from his father's step children is that teenagers just want space and to be heard. So he. . does that. It's also convenient that the system has unlocked OOC, but only for luo binghe he's fine with that, as long as the system lets him death glare back at the an ding peak lord when the man glares at him. oh yeah, and good food! kids like that right? cooking is a hobby he's always loved but never been able to indulge in. It's something of a learning curve to understand the mechanics of the xianxia kitchen, but there's only one hurriedly covered up(from the other peak lords) burning incident before SQQ proves to LBH he can in fact be trusted with a hearth.

Ok ok ok explaining it a little

So the premise of Scum Villain Self Saving System is pretty much that one guy, Shen Yuan, read a harem porn novel for the plot and got so pissed at the poor writing decisions he choked on a bun, died, and got transmigrated into the novel and the body of Shen Qingqiu- the book’s arguable main villain

The original SQQ (aka Shen Jiu) was a complete asshole (he has a traumatic backstory so it’s explained but still an asshole). In the original novel he had a very antagonistic relationship with Liu Qingge. They openly fought, argued, and just generally hated each other and both were too proud to communicate feelings properly.

LQG ended up suffering from a qi deviation (kind of like a magical instability). It’s later revealed that Shen Jiu accidentally killed LQG while trying to save him from this deviation.

But once Shen Yuan transmigrates, this plot point changes. He originally thought Shen Jiu killed LQG maliciously, just acting as another death to paint Shen Qingqiu into a worse villain. He doesn’t want to end up as a villain so he saves LQG to hopefully gain an ally. They become sort of friends after that

In the world of SVSSS there’s this mountain that is the home to Cang Qiong Sect, the most powerful cultivation sect in the world (sort of like a group of magic users that fight ghosts and demons). There’s 12 peaks on this mountain with each peak having a different specialty. Shen Qingqiu is the head of the peak that specializes in strategy and scholarly arts. Liu Qingge is the head of the peak that specializes in martial arts. He’s known as a war god, being very hot blooded and violent. He spends a lot of his time on monster fighting missions

Now I’m not sure if this is canon or a very popular headcanon (I forgor) but SQQ is really interested in the magical beings of this world. A common thing I see in liushen content as a result is LQG hunting monsters and bringing them back as courting presents to SQQ. It’s so cute

Also I just realized with this scene. It is canon that LQG brings back SQQ’s fan whenever he loses it to the point of SQQ just wondering if he should gift it to him

Today in fanfiction I will never write - Moshang 'Kitchen Nightmares' AU

I am currently watching the new episodes of the Kitchen Nightmares and of course, this brought on an idea for a new Moshang AU I don't have the time to write

Shen Yuan, more known under the name of Shen Qingqiu, is a renowned chef with dozens of Michelin Star restaurants around the world [he's the Gordon Ramsey of this AU]. He recently renewed his Kitchen Nightmares show and is currently touring China and helping restaurants.

For the purposes of the show his SQQ persona is very strict and cold. It sels and his disdainful glare sends the female audience to their knees. In reality SY is a big softy with great passion for food.

The Ice Palace is a seafood restaurant in a medium-sized city by the shore. It used to be moderately successful until the owner died and it was taken over by his brother, Jun Linguang. Linguang thinks he is a great owner/manager, and it's everybody else around him who is running the business to the ground. Standard Kitchen Nightmares bullshit.

SY arrives at the restaurant and is greeted by Jun Linguang and his complaints about the incompetence of the staff, mean people writing mean reviews, unsophisticated pallete of the local clientele, you name it. When asked why he won't hire new staff, he says nobody wants to work these days.

Still, SY will not form an opinion on the restaurant until he tries the food. He orders a mishmash of the dishes. What he receives is... well, he is used to the dishes he tries in the failing restaurants to be awful, but this? The dishes are certainly bizzare, but the protein is cooked to perfection, and the sauces are smooth and rich in flavour. The problem is that nothing goes well together! This is somehow more frustrating than the food being bad! Clearly, there is someone in that kitchen with actual talent but still doing a shitty job!

It is time to meet the chef!

Shang Qinghua is just a guy. Well, he was just a guy who one day stumbled into the Ice Palace looking for a job to pay through his college. He started at dishwash hut as the staff kept leaving, he had to learn how to cook to help out on the line and keep the restaurant afloat until he made his way to the head chef. His college education long discarded and forgotten.

The thing is, he actually likes cooking, but he has to follow the owner's menu and is not allowed to make any changes. And it kills him because he knows how bad the diahes are. He knows he could do so much better if Jun Linguang just gave him some freedom! Since he's not allowed any, he suffers abuse from customers who complain his dishes are shit, including his pwn parents who came to see for what he discarded his education for.

He would leave. He should leave. He would find a better job if he only tried. But... the previous owner's son? Jun Mobei? Who is stuck as a server until his uncle sees him worthy to take over family business? That Mobei? Well, Qinghua can't leave him at the restaurant to face his uncle's abuse alone! Linguang is not a nice person to his employees, but he is even worse to his nephew. Most of the staff can breathe easier when Mobei is around because then Linguang focuses his attention on him.

Not Shang Qinghua. Shang Qinghua hates seeing Mobei verbally and emotionally abused by his uncle, but every time he tries to step in, things turn out even worse for Mobei. Linguang hates people disobeying him, and he would have fired SQH for his transgressions. However, Mobei protects the chef by directing his uncle's attention back on himself.

Anyway, SY meets Shang Qinghua. He shouts at him for the bizarre menu, weird combination choices, and the wasted potential he can see clearly in the head chef. SQH pretty used to the verbal abuse takes it all well, all things considered. Only cries for about 10 mins while begging SY to fix the restaurant. It's a family business, and it means co much to Mobei! They can't lose it!

Whi the heck is Mobei? SY wonders, but does not comment. Instead, he orders SQH to order something for him, to wow him with his culinary prowess.

And Shang Qinghua does! He prepares the best dish SY tasted during the entire program. Probably during his entire career! Definitely better than even SY himself can prepare. He loaths to admit, but SQH is amazing in the kitchen.

The kitchen itself is spotless and runs like a wrll oiled machine. The dining room and equipment are a little outdated and could use an update, but it's not all terrible. It is clear the problem is the owner who makes bad business decisions and scares/stresses the staff.

SY finally meets Mobei, when it is time to see how the restaurant runs on a normal day. It's not very busy but Mobei, only a server controls the dining room and the front of the house, the same way SQH keeps the kitchen running smoothly. Whenever his uncle is not there to interfere, that is.

SY finds out the restaurant used to belong to Mobei's father, who opened it for his mother. She was very fond of seafood. Mobei does not say it openly, but it is clear he will not leave the business to crumble under his uncle's careless management.

SY needs to make a decision here. The objective of his show is to help failing restaurants. The only reason this one is in danger is the owner. He could poach SQH for one of his restaurants, seeing how talented he is. Hell, he could even hire Mobei as the manager if that would make the head chef happy. But they both made it clear they would not leave the restaurant, no matter the reason, or the money.

It is time to conclude the show. SY does what SQQ is expected to do. Updates the menu, renovates the kitchen and dining room, and leaves Linguang with a set of strict instructions and a warning that if he does not follow the restaurant will close with even more debt than he already is in.

When the TV crew leaves, however, SY makes Linguang an offer he cannot refuse. The restaurant is in debt. SY will buy it off of Linguang, debt and all included plus profit for Linguang. He's rich, he can afford it. After Linguang leaves happy, SY promotes Mobei to manager immediately, with significant pay rise. Once Mobei can afford the mortage, SY will let him buy the restaurant off for himself. Even though he would be happy to keep it, Qinghua included.

With the weight lifted off his shoulders, no uncle looming dangerously over his shoulder, destroying everything Mobei cares about Mobei finally has the courage to ask SQH out. Also, SQH can finally take a day off, since he doesn't have to worry about Linguang abusing his nephew! First one in three years! [He caught the flu one winter and was off for a week.]

BONUS: LBH is a head chef in one of SQQ's retaurant. He was brought in for help designing the new menu. LBH and SQH bond over their similar background, only LBH was lucky to start off in SQQ's restaurant.

BONUS 2: Mobei learned how to run the dining room and front of the house from SQH. Not only from observing him but also by reluctantly asking him questions SQH was happy to answer.

BONUS 3: SQH saw himself in Mobei, alone and disliked by his own family except while SQH's patents were simply inattentive Mobei's uncle openly abused him. Qinghua refused to leave Mobei without an ally because he knew how badly he himself needed someone on his side. Mobei must have needed someone even more.

Ok I'm for the Angst today.

For a little (very) angsty idea.

One day Airplane is very tired and frustrated. His work didn't become like he wanted. He had a lot of lore ideas, of relationships ideas…but people wanter porn. People wanted SQQ to suffer (looks to a certain cumcumber). He ended killing or not using characters he loved (without being able to use his ideas about them). People enjoyed Luo Binghe becoming violent, sadistic, pervert (becoming a r*pist). It's not what he wanted. He wanted to write something else with his characters. He wanted another story. Not THAT. But he needed money and people wanted THAT. But he's so frustrated. His story became something he hates….he hates what it became.

At a point, he listen a potcast about Conan Doyle and how he killed his main character to (try to) end the stories about him. Even if he failed since people wanted so much the character's return that he forced himself to find a way to make him survive and return.

And this famous day, he's so frustrated and disillusioned that he wrote about Luo Binghe's death. Like his demon blood, at a point, start to poison the human parts of his body because he's too powerful with his demon powers and he damage his body without realizing it. He writes how Luo Binghe becomes more and more tired, starts to cough blood, etc. How nothing can help him (no plants, meats, or even s*x).

He even writes lore about half demons to justify what happened. So it would no look like if he just invented it recently but had planned it. And so his book…his story, who became something he hated and was frustrated with, ended with Luo Binghe's death.

Half demons doesn't live long. Being 50/50 is dangerous.

Half Demon Body can't bear the fight between the two egal parts of his being: It's like if his own body was destroying half of his adn.

It's only happen with the Heavenly Demons. So the most powerful ones. Airplane even writes that Binghe's father never thought of the possibilty to have a child with a human so never spoke about those problems with his lover (Binghe's bio mum)

To avoid any reincarnation plot, he evens say that Binghe can't reincarne because demon reincarnation and human reincarnation are differents. And since he's 50/50, he can't use any of them.

Airplane, maybe a little drunk: Ha! fuck you! That's for have forced me to do stupid harem plot rather that all the serious and lore things that i wanted to write! You forced me torture and kill SQQ!! Well i kill Luo Binghe!

Airplane: I wish i could see Cumcumber's face when i'll publish that! In your face Hater =)

He has never the possibility to publish it (like for Shen Jiu's backstory) because he dies and is reincarnated as SQH.

He feels bad about a lot of things. Because SQQ's horrible backstory for exemple.

Everything Airplane wrote about this universe happens, right? The backstory of the characters, the deaths of certains characters…except after Shen Yuan being sent there, things seems to change: SQQ's change of behaviour, LQG is saved, etc…

But the change are not because the story is different but because Shen Yuan takes over SQQ's body. So yeah, some things become more and more differents. But others things stay the same.

And SQH realizes that nothing can change Luo Binghe's fate because he 100% wrote that NOTHING could save him and even wrote LORE to justify that nothing could save him. And that seen how everything happens sooner in this universe....

SQH: Well Fuuuuuck

Thinking something on the importance of overcoming self hate in svsss and how hating yourself hurts the people around you.

Sqq hated himself so much for pushing Binghe into the abyss he couldn't even bring himself to apologize. Because if he can't forgive himself? Why would Binghe ever believe a genuine apology?

And Binghe hates himself for being a demon and assumes that sqq must also hate that part of him.

So here they both are hating themselves and assuming others hate them too.

And I think this is the core misunderstanding of their relationship and the book.

Because sqq was sure that if he just died everything would be better. Because he hated himself so much he wanted to be someone else. But dying didn't change who he was. He still wanted to help others and protect his sect and cared about Luo Binghe and wanted the best for them all.

All sqq dying accomplished was hurting a lot of people in a lot of ways. Because all the people who cared about him hated to see that. And so many people care.

And Luo Binghe hating himself didn't help at all because he was just making himself more unstable and therefore violent. Pinning all his hopes and dreams on one man.

So both of these men needed to learn to let the other person love them. And I think that is something that probably took a long time to do *well*.

1: He doesn’t remember//But the people around him do

He chokes, scarlet red splattering all over his hands and clothes, unable to hear anything beyond the ringing in his ears. His vision blurred in and out of focus, try as he might to shake away the dizzy feeling buzzing around his skull. Distantly, he hears himself laughing slightly, turning his bro, “C—Cooler than the noodles, r—right bro?”

A scowl pierced through his ears, though irritating the pounding in his head, it sounded fearful and full of despair. Strange.

“Is he hallucinating!?” Another panicked voice echoed from above him. Woah…. Above? When had he fallen over?

His vision focused for a moment and a light green filled his vision, though it was tainted by red. Cucumber—bro unfortunately understood what he was talking about.

“Airplane, please— stay awake—!”

Unfortunately, he wasn’t ever that good at listening to instructions, the system did have to punish him a lot after all.

“I’m Luo Meihua!” He nervously stuck his hand out to the tall icy figure, his sleeves hopefully covering the scars he gained from getting electrocuted. He really tried not to stare but it was really hard not to, the man’s looked like his protagonist and the icy guy really reminded him of his ideal man. Ah but… he did scrap the backstory of Mobei—Jun which was unfortunate…

The other guy in red seemed shocked to see him, which, was a little odd, but, hey, some people had similar faces..?

The icy blue shirt dude just intensely stared at him. It really made him want to cry and and beg for mercy. Please stop staring sir????

AHHH SCREW IT. He’s leaving!!!

If these two won’t stop staring he is just going to get away, they probably think he’s crazy or ugly or something!

“…You…” The blue man muttered, there was really something in his eye that made his stomach churn. “Study here?”

He shivered a little at that deep voice—definitely didn’t squeak when he replied and he definitely ignored the red man trying—and failing—to hide his snort.

“Uh—! Yes! Sir!” Shang (he really needed to stop roleplaying—) Luo Meihua cringed at the voice cracking

Red guy seemed to hold pity on him and elbowed the icy guy before introducing himself, “I’m Luo Binghe, what a coincidence right?” He smiled, baring his teeth which was very terrifying (he was really just trying to be friendly actually…)(He didn’t hate his Shang—shishu that much)(it’s just that, SQH is the epitome of misunderstanding every signal)

I have two multichapter SVSSS WIPs (A Wife by Any Other Name and my ongoing LOTR-inspired Bingqiu fic), and I plan to post around six more oneshots for the SVSSS Gotcha for Gaza. After that, though, my SVSSS writing days will likely come to an end! :')

I do have a Qijiu age gap AU in the works; but my (countless, at this point) MDZS projects take priority, so this one might not ever see the light of day. I've attached a few scenes below the cut, in case anyone is interested. <3

Short background: in this AU, Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu met when they were fifteen and five years old respectively, when YQY (then a kitchen slave) took little Shen Jiu off the streets and hid him in an abandoned wing of his master's manor. They were separated when SJ was discovered, and Yue Qingyuan was badly beaten and thrown out of the estate while Shen Jiu managed to escape and ended up being sold to the Qius a few years later. When they reunited at the Immortal Alliance Conference, YQY had been Qiong Ding's head disciple for nearly a decade and had just earned the right to accept disciples of his own, so SJ became YQY's disciple and went back to Cang Qiong with him.

Shen Jiu later realizes that he and SY!SQQ (head disciple/future peak lord of Qing Jing) are brothers; the following scenes mostly concern his relationship with Shen Yuan.

scene 1, set shortly after Shen Jiu comes to Cang Qiong and discovers that he and Shen Qingqiu are related:

This soft-eyed, fair-faced fool—he could never have lived through the trials Shen Jiu and his Qi-ge had endured, no matter how strong his cultivation, or how fine his calligraphy, or how well he swayed the hearts of men to bow to his every whim—

“Oh,” Shen Qingqiu murmurs, his voice full of such pain that Qi-ge makes a sound of distress behind him. “Of course. They must have had another child after they sold me away.”

Shen Jiu stares. “What? You were…”

“There was a drought in the second-to-last dog year, before you were born,” Shen Qingqiu says distantly, unfolding his fan and placing it over his mouth. “I was the third son, and born sickly—so when the slavers came to Jinan, they told Father that I was quick-witted and handsome enough to serve a lordling in a great house, and that I would have all the food I wanted and medicine to treat my infirmity as long as I did not make too much of a nuisance of myself. So I was sold and taken away.”

He casts a thoughtful glance at Shen Jiu’s sharp nose and smooth jaw, and then at the mole behind his left ear. “The sixth year after that was a bad year, too. You must have been sold then.”

Shen Jiu wants to tell this cheap brother of his that he had not even been sold, for the slavers had wanted nothing to do with a three-year-old infant scarcely out of babyhood. His mother was long-dead by then, and his father and the two kept brothers had resented her for bearing Shen Jiu and hated Shen Jiu for not having died before he was weaned: so there was no one to protest when his father carried him out of their shack while he slept and abandoned him in an alley a few miles away. If this heretofore-unknown third elder brother, Shen Yuan, had not been pretty enough to catch the eyes of the Jinan slavers, perhaps their father would have done the same to him.

scene 2, set about a year later, after Shen Jiu finds out that Yue Qingyuan's personal name Yue Qi is not written with the character for "seven" in CQM's sect records:

“Qi was good enough for Qi-ge.”

“Yue Qi’s name was changed when he entered the sect,” Shen Qingqiu tells him. “The Qi that Shixiong uses now comes from qi xi, for a bird resting on a perch.”

Shen Jiu turns around to stare accusingly at Yue Qinguan. “You never told me that you’d changed your name. Why did I have to find out from—from Senior Shen?”

“Ah, well,” Yue Qingyuan says awkwardly, “Shizun was the one who decided that the Qi for seven wasn’t worthy of a Qiong Ding Peak disciple, and then I became the head disciple, and my name was changed again, to Qingyuan. I haven’t signed my name with the new Qi in years. But, A-Jiu, I do think that Shidi is right; it’ll be years before you can become a head disciple, and in that time…”

“Should I use the jiu for ‘a long while,’ then?” Shen Jiu quips. “Or jiu zhi?”

Shen Qingqiu snaps his fan closed. “No. How practiced are you in the scholarly arts?”

“I do well enough,” Shen Jiu bristles. Reading, writing, and the reciting of poetry were the three subjects that came to him easily after he entered the sect; and though he had been near the bottom of the class when he first arrived, his weekly reports placed him at the top by the beginning of the second month. “Ask Qi-ge.”

“Then why not use the name Jiu’ge, after the second volume of the Chuci?” Shen Qingqiu asks. “What do you think, shixiong?”

“I think Jiu'ge is a fine name. But it’s no good if Xiao-Jiu doesn’t like it.”

Shen Jiu thinks for a moment. In truth, he had wanted Yue Qi to bestow a new name upon him, if it so happened that he needed one. He gave Shen Jiu the very first name he remembers, Xiao Lizi, after the plums that Yue Qi used to smuggle to him when he was a child in the Huang manor; but he does not entirely detest the thought of this strange elder brother, thrown away just as he was, choosing the name Shen Jiu will be known by in the future.

“It’s not bad,” he admits at last. “Very well, then. Let it be Jiu’ge.”

ok but hear me out, i think one of the funniest fucking things about Scum-Villain and why it still stands as my favourite work from MXTX is this:

the novel is about changing the events of... a novel. originally, Proud Immortal Demon Way is written as this like, straight-man's ultimate goon-fest fantasy where the hottest dude with the biggest dick gets a harem of women numbering in the hundreds right. but the writer of that novel, 'Airplane bro' didn't actually want to write it like that and even admits in the extras that what he really wanted to do was write gay fiction. but because that didn't really pan out for him, he instead made it a wankfest for straight men with shitty plot and got famous for that

here comes Cucumber-bro, or Shen Yuan ( who dies and becomes the main villain of PIDW Shen Qingqiu ) who's like. simultaneously his biggest hater and yet spent so much fucking money just to read the whole thing. he's hemming and hawwing and all pissed off because he hates the whole plot and thinks it stinks ( yet paid to read all of it????? logic?????? ) so when he dies of rage, he ends up transmigrating into the villain's body and since he knows how the novel ends, the whole plot becomes him trying to avoid that awful fate the villain suffered and basically trying to ride the coattails of mister big-dick macho man who got all the girls in an attempt to save his own hide

it...... kinda works?

but in the process of him reversing or changing events, mister #1 hater inadvertantly turns the story into the exact thing Airplane Bro originally wanted to write it as: gay fiction. he turns the male lead gay, he turns HIMSELF gay, he somehow makes people like Liu Qingge gay -- everything is just gay gay gay and he's horrified because he was a self-proclaimed straight man his whole life and struggles to come to terms with it ( but eventually accepts it because he really does love Luo Binghe that's his babygirl right there ).

the exchange between him and Airplane Bro ( who also died and became a side character, Shang Qinghua ) is fucking hilarious because he's like I MADE YOUR NOVEL GAY BRO WHAT DO I DO?????? and Shang Qinghua is just

also cuter side note, i love that when you read through the Airplane extras in the fourth book he talks about how Luo Binghe ( the protagonist and mister hottest-man-in-the-cultivation-world ) isn't actually his ideal man. Shang Qinghua was actually excited to become Shan Qinghua after death because the side-villain he created is the side-villain that he, the now side-character, ends up serving under: Mobei-Jun. and Mobei-Jun is the exact type of man that Shang Qinghua is into so to him it's a win-win situation even though he's terrified out of his mind because he wrote Shang Qinghua dying in the original novel, but manages to narrowly avoid his own written fate and gets to follow around his preferred kinda dude

What if, transmigrated shen yuan and airplane are actually just modern day reincarnations of original goods. Since the author and most enthusiastic anti-fan were both unsatisfied with the story, the system dada decided: “ FU hypocrites. If you think so much of yourselves now, go back and clear ur BS… let’s see how you pathetic idiots will do this time. I won’t make it easy for you btw 😒” and yeeted them.

There are many instances that support this theory though (both in cannon and fannon)

OG SQQ died without a complete corpse and suffered too much so he born a sick man as Shen Yuan.

OG SQQ hated himself more than anyone (even LBG), so he dissociated himself and SY thought that OG scum villain deserved that fate. 

OG SQQ only had LBG for company in water prison until he died and LBG is the only one who came back for him even for revenge 😔. (Whether it is after endless abyss, after trial, and many more times to torture, LBG didn’t forget his Shizun). And this made SY/SQQ to appreciate him in SVSSS and as a protagonist. Also the fact that they both had mostly similar childhoods in PIDW, this time with additional knowledge of modern day standards and psychological healing SY overcame his envy. 

And Airplane was unknowingly so angry and unsatisfied with his previous life as rat SQH, he wrote the novel as an emotional outlet that later spiraled into a chaotic mess. Since MBJ was the person he looked up-to for promotion and benefits he mistook MBJ as his ideal type. It is also unbelievable that Airplane as an author, self inserted himself to a pathetic cannon fodder, instead of some cool character. It couldn’t be coincidence.

You have probably seen that idea somewhere. Evil sqh. He is not going to change tragic moments. They are the best part of his book. Porn can disappear but these would stay. So if butterfly effect is going to destroy a tragedy or an important plot moment he will save them. SQQ & YQY tragedy and SXY&TLJ tragedy were saved. When LBH stuck too far away from where he should stop. SQH took him and brought to Washerwoman. She decided that he is a father of a child, so SQH named himself Luo Feiji. He was helping Washerwoman with money, which could let her to stay alive but… LBH didn't want to leave from his adopted mother so SQH killed her. LBH swears to find his 'father'.

AN: Huh, this is my first time seeing this idea... hmmm, this idea plot goes against all my Airplane!Shang Qinghua characterization on how I have him. Even at his evilness in my brain, Shang Qinghua is more about going with the flow, inaction, apathy, but occasionally spiteful sabotage against those who fuck with him or mess with his ideas and plots. (Still very much he who wrote Binghe, it just takes... a lot to open that side to him)

So, I'm gonna take this idea and probably mangle it beyond recognition. Sorry, I'll try and incorporate as much as possible. (Hope you still enjoy it)

There were many ways a certain An Ding Peak Lord found himself waking up on some days. On the rare, like finding a once-in-a-never-before-seen-treasure if you weren't the protagonist or Author god of this world, Shang Qinghua could actually wake up fully rested, no dreams to torment him or anyone but birdsong to wake him up. Otherwise, it was a random pick of if someone was knocking (well, more like banging) on his door with a 'sect emergency' of sorts. On others, his King could sometimes come for a morning report instead of his nightly one, bringing with him an uncomfortable chill and frozen feet for Shang Qinghua to welcome the day to.

But if there is one thing Airplane hates waking to, it must be the System's ungodly screeching alarm.

!WARNING: WORLD COLLAPSE IF PROTAGONIST DIES!

"I heard you the first fucking time damn it." the brunet transmigrator curses, dressing and disguising himself more akin to a shady merchant than the actual Peak Lord he just so recently became. If he's going where he thinks he is, considering all the drama that happened with a certain Head Disciple and Demon Lord, and a Protagonist in trouble, that can only mean one thing.

Something happened at the Luo River; just great, just what he needed right now. Of course he wants to spend his night looking for a baby in an icy river, thank you world so much for that.

Grumbling, Shang Qinghua goes down one of the many secret tunnels in An Ding, with it twisting and winding down into a deserted valley, where he is soon off like a shoot on his sword.

As he spends most of his night with the system blaring an alarm in his ear, constantly having to cast a life-detecting spell, Airplane truly curses the fact he had to have little Binghe born when it was so damn cold; sure, his cultivation helps him keep out the worst of it, but it does not stop the fucking fact it is still cold enough that he can literally feel the chill from his sword to his feet. Nature can and still is the biggest bitch out there, no matter what.

It is with no little relief that he finally gets the ding he wanted from his spell, showing a human life finally.

Getting little future Demon Emperor from his basket, Shang Qinghua sighs in relief seeing the baby is just really cold, something the Peak Lord can easily fix with his abilities. Eyeing the basket, Shang Qinghua struggles a bit with himself before sighing, he places one of his emergency coin purses in it, something he knows will at least help out and hopefully not get him anymore System Alarms for a while. After getting himself and the baby situated as he stands above the water, he then casts an invisibility spell upon himself, settling in to wait for a certain washerwoman to finally come so he can direct a basket down her way... Not realizing in his drained and tired state it didn't work like it should have.

(Years later, Binghe listens to his mother as she swears to anyone that will listen that it must have been his father's spirit that must have pushed the little baby over to her washing, waiting, willing hands. After all, how else could a healthy little baby survive going down the stream on one of the coldest nights of the year? Even as she weakens, she could never forget the barely there, almost more an outline of fog then man that had directed a basket down her way, and the relief in brown eyes when he saw her take him before he disappeared in the dawn's light.

Binghe grows, knowing if nothing else, at least one of his birth parents must have loved him, if they even defied death to ensure he could live with his poor, but ever so loving mother. It makes him wonder at times, about his origins, makes him want to find out more about his history and his first parents.

As it is, Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky spends the day after his little rescue working through a migraine and the mother of all colds.)

shen qingqiu may be a monster encyclopedia but the same can't be said about his knowledge of the pidw flora

Luo Binghe very considerately remembered for him, speaking the name right away. “Thousand-Leaves Fresh-Snow Lotus!” Shen Qingqiu finally realized why he had been unable to remember the name. The number of mystical flowers named “Something Snow Whatever” or “This and That Lotus” was such that they were more numerous than old memes. Like hell anyone could remember!

god i cant wait for this fandom to get reading comprehension when it comes to literally anything related to shen jiu. was shen jiu abused physically, and probably sexually? yes. did luo bingge do a lot of heinous shit as an adult? absolutely.

however. this doesn't erase the fact that the reason luo bingge is the way he is is BECAUSE of shen jiu. you take shen jiu out of the picture. congratulations, that is entirely what created bingmei. shen jiu being abused made him horrible, and thats also what happened with luo bingge. its a cycle of abuse that started with qiu jianluo. thats the point. an entire fucking theme of the book is that love breaks cycles of abuse and we can only improve as people if we have love. thats an entire theme of the book.

anyways. i adore shen jiu. i relate to shen jiu in certain ways. i've spent a lot of time analyzing him because i love him. he's my fave svsss character. thats why i hate the sterilized version of him so many people talk about. yes, he abused disciples other than luo binghe. and while him killing qiu jianluo was understandable, 1. qiu jianluo was 19 when he died 2. the whole thing was horrible for qiu haitang who deserved none of it 3. the guards and other men deserved to die as much as ming fan and the disciples of cang qiong mountain sect when luo bingge burned down the sect. every part of the cycle escalates the violence, the wife who kills luo bingge will likely escalate things even further.

also leave yue qingyuan alone, the only thing he did wrong was allow shen jiu to abuse luo binghe, but yall dont really seem to care about that. qi-ge has trauma too.

Bingmei and Bingge are not as different as you believe,Bingmei SA-ed SY, Bingmei tortured and human-sticked OPM (he deserves it but), killed multiple cultivator and chocked a woman.

& "circle of abuse ended because of power of love" isn't right either, Bingmei continued the circle of abuse he just hasn't tortured SY!SQQ but instead he tortured OPM.

Not to mention SJ abusing multiple disciples has never been confirmed (I don't trust SY's POV on SJ & LQG is also abusing disciplines but no one says anything), him killing other men in Qiu house is a self defense (maybe he even had a mental breakdown)

And YQY's only crime is him not taking SJ's suspicious seriously. (SQH)
