“Hey, honey I will be home late tonight after work, Don’t wait up!”

Seojun yelled from outside your bedroom, which means yet another morning waking up alone in bed. It’s always like this. Seojun and you have been together for a year and a half but he feels more like a stranger than ever. 

How? 

Time changes things. There were just way too many problems and it felt like all of them came from him. You know you played your part, but it never amounted to the same weight of issues he caused. He never tried to meet you halfway. You simply compromise, or you both argue until someone decides to take the couch. Again, it wasn’t always like this. He used to take you on dates, take photos of you, and invite you to his company dinners. He was really a good guy at first. 

The two of you started dating towards the fall semester of your junior year in college. He was a year older, so he was always showing you around in your prior academic years before you started dating. Your mutual friend Namjoon, helped the two of you grow close. Interesting that now it feels like the most distant you’ve been with anyone in your life, and that says a lot because you’re not the most extroverted person. Somehow, you let him in. You thought you had so much in common and it turns out you were wrong. Everyone around you could see how stressful and draining being with him was for you as time progressed, yet you always defended it. 

So, as you readjusted the pillow and looked up at the ceiling, you thought about how living here was becoming one of the worst things you’ve ever decided to do. The ugly truth? it was second to being in this relationship. This is not for the weak, especially when the person you love, isn’t the person you lay next to every night, and that’s if he’s even home. It’s not that Seojun is a bad person, he just isn’t him.

Your childhood best friend, Jeon Jungkook. Bless him and those sparkly eyes. He has always been a sweet soul. Simply put, He was your everything. If you had it your way -and didn’t feel like it would jeopardize your relationship as friends- you would’ve acted on it a long time ago. It’s not that you didn’t love Seojun; quite the contrary you loved him, but you weren’t in love with him anymore. You started thinking about the first time you knew you’d rather be with Jungkook. Yes, you always liked him but this was different. Last year’s beach trip with your friends, Seojun made the BIGGEST FUCKING SCENE. It was all over you having a drink-no you weren’t drunk - Yes, he’s controlling. He ended up leaving early because Jungkook stepped in. It was nice to have someone defend you like that, he always has. That’s when you realized you were falling out of love with Seojun, and that your heart still longed for Jungkook. You tried everything in your power to spice up your relationship but it just kept declining and now..here you are.

As you got up to brush your teeth and wash your face, you felt a little bitter. You lived with Jungkook up until you moved in with your boyfriend, You used to love walking into the kitchen, breakfast being cooked, and Bam waiting for you. You even liked the mornings when it was you who had to do the cooking, just to see that smile of his.

You walked into your kitchen with no Bam or Jungkook in sight- but you knew what you gave up when you moved here. You just didn’t know how much you would miss it.

As you take a look into the fridge you notice he apparently forgot it was his turn to go grocery shopping. Go figure. you decide cereal for breakfast it is. You scoffed grabbing the cereal first. You can’t believe Seojun is a milk-first person, like Seriously? What do you even have in common with him at this point? 

Your phone’s ringtone ripped you out of the ‘Seojun and I: pros and cons’ battle you have found yourself doing in the morning. You flipped your phone over to see who it was and happily answered the incoming phone call. 

“There she is!” 

“Jiminie, why are you always this excited in the morning?”

“ I’m not, you and I both know this. I happen to like my bestie though. Go shopping with me and Hobi!”  Your older brother, and best friend in one person... He’s being annoying but it’s honestly Jimin, there was no harm done here. Your older brother always cared for you too, which is why you’re so close to him. He is and has always been one of your comfort places, along with Jungkook.

“I don’t have anything else better to do, What time?”

 Jimin pursed his lips as he contemplated what time he should pick you up. “The next hour, so be ready!”

“Okay. Is Jungkook coming?” You said trying not to sound too defeated. 

“No, he thinks you hate him because you haven’t texted him back these last two weeks. I’ve talked to your best friend more than you. I know Kook is a family friend, but speaking to him this much about you in particular is killing me.” Now this one- again, no harm done here. A little bitter feeling from your side, but only because you knew he was right. 

Damn, that might be a new record for you. You’ve only ignored Jungkook four days straight before- and at that time you were in the eighth grade. He still apologizes to this day for breaking your snow globe. Even buys you one for Christmas every year now because he felt so bad. Have you really not said anything to him in two weeks?

‘Seojun could never be better than JK, you would not have to choose’ Jimin had once said.  Again, he was right. 

You eventually freed yourself from your thoughts. 

“Jimin, you and I both know, I do not hate him.” You said to your brother. 

“Then text him back.” And with that, he hung up. 

You decided to get dressed in a basic crop tee, some baggy jeans, and your favorite pair of sneakers. You made sure to put your hair into a half up, half down with your claw clip. Grabbed your purse and then pulled it across your body. Checking for touch-ups and spraying your favorite perfume- the one Jungkook bought you seven of because it’s just ‘soooo hard’ for you to find. Another pinging sound ripped you from your thoughts. The doorbell chime going off nonstop. why are Jimin and Hobi so extra?!

“Hi. I heard the doorbell the first time” You said as you pulled the door open to be greeted by two bright smiles. 

“These are for you,” Jimin said, as he handed you flowers.

“Tiger lilies, Really?” The confusion on your face lasted for all of three seconds. You could guess what they were for. Still, you asked. “You know it’s not my birth flower, What are these for?”

“Duh. Jungkook made us bring them, he said ‘Please stop ignoring me’ or some shit like that.” Hobi stated. Jimin nodded his head to agree. 

As your finger traced a petal you spoke “He is Mr. Please love me.  Fitting” 

Looking at the flowers reminded you of something his mom used to say to you ‘Never underestimate Jungkook’s ability to make you feel special, Never underestimate his ability to make sure you think about him either. That’s the type of person my son is.’  You miss her too. You Should ask when you can grab lunch soon. Once you stop ignoring her son, the person who you love more than anyone else. Yanno…your best friend. 

 “I’m gonna go put these in some water and we can go.” You said as you tried to calm down your heartbeat. 

How can he make you blush and he isn’t even here? Why can’t Seojun make you feel like this anymore?

You walked back out to your brother and hobi. Trying to

act as normal as possible. You’re really missing him right now. You know you do and apparently so does everyone around you. 

“You’re incredibly down bad for each other. Losers.” Hobi just had to be the first to say something about it. 

“Aren’t they hyung? It’s so cute.” -and apparently Jimin just had to follow up.

Annoying. 

“Ooh that one, Jungkook would like that one! Wouldn’t he Chim Chim?” You asked. Your eyes bright as ever, as you looked at the light projector. 

“____ he already has how many of these?” His eyebrow raised at you. 

“But does he have this one?! I don’t think so. Hobi you agree right?”

“You know what happened last time we brought Jungkook on a shopping trip? He wouldn’t stop running his mouth about you either. Which is why,  you have to stop before we no longer invite you.” Hobi said as he teased you. 

“Whatever,  you guys are being haters. I’m gonna buy it!” You said flashing a smile, as you made your way to the purchasing counter. 

Once you were all checked out and got it gift-wrapped for him you smiled proudly to yourself. “I’m the greatest friend ever.” You said rejoining them

“You are but…you’re also a simp, just a cute one.” Your older brother grinned, patting your head.

“Anyway, we should go to the food court! I want some sprite.” Hobi said and you agreed- mostly because that bowl of cereal just didn’t do it for you this morning.  

As you sat with them at the food table, you noticed them both staring at you. 

“Can I help you?” You asked raising your eyebrows 

“How’s your relationship?” Hobi asks you out of nowhere. 

-and that’s the question you always hate... Not because it’s going well but because your response is always a lie when you say 

 “Going good.” 

Jimin rolled his eyes and scoffed. “You’re lying and we know… because we know you. What’s going on? And yes I know something is up.”

“Well, it’s just that, when it started I thought it was great but now…”

“Now?” Hobi said as he leaned in more to pay attention as much as he could. 

“Now I feel like I’m just sleeping with a shell. We don’t hate each other or anything. We just don’t go on dates or cuddle and it’s because he’s busy.  I don’t want to be a brat about it. So… I’m just trying to be supportive.” As you stare at the people listening to you, you know you have to make it sound as good as possible. “But SeoJun will be back to normal I’m sure of I-“

“No. No. No…What do you mean you don’t go on dates? Isn’t he off every weekend?  just like you.” Jimin did not look happy as the words poured from his mouth. You get it. You’re Jimin’s younger sister so for him, this is personal. 

“Exactly, Who doesn’t take a hot girl like you on a date whenever they can?” Hobi asked as he chomped down on his fries in front of him. Jimin would have said something to his friend, but he’s been dealing with having a baby sister everyone likes forever. Plus, it’s Hobi. He’s what Jungkook is to you, to Jimin- minus the whole ‘madly in love with each other’ thing. Really good childhood friends. 

“Guys, he is just really busy. That’s why.” You don’t even know why you’re defending him but again, it’s routine at this point. 

“Busy doing what?” Hobi questioned. 

“I don’t know. Work or something. He just says don’t wait up. And I don’t. No hard feelings, yanno?” As you went to reach for your drink. You noticed Jimin had already pulled it away from you. 

“When’s the last time you slept on a couch ?” Jimin asked angrily. Jimin just like Jungkook, sometimes didn’t hold back. Today was one of those days. 

“Jimin!” You raised your voice slightly and snatched your drink back. 

“The fucking couch??!” Hobi just gave you that look he always gives Jungkook when he is being ..well when Jungkook is being himself, but you know when you get that look-He’s shaming you. 

“Hobi,  it’s not me who usually takes the couch, I don’t take it all the time. I took the couch like 4 times.” You couldn’t even make eye contact with them. It’s probably been double but you’re the type to remove yourself if he won’t. You hate yelling. It isn’t effective communication, but neither is the couch so you’re not sure why you just scaled it down like that. You just don’t want to worry your brother and Hobi. 

“Shouldn’t be dating a dumbass who would have you there instead of himself.” Jimin just wouldn’t let up.  You knew it came from a good place, so you redirected the conversation. 

“Guys, let’s just continue shopping okay..” you asked but somewhat told them so that they backed off. Seems they both got the hint. 

“Thanks again for inviting me guys. I needed some outside time, oh and I’ll drive next time!” You say as Hobi gives you a thumbs up. 

“I’m walking you to the door, Come on.” Jimin must want to talk. You loathe when he does this. A Jimin lecture for you is worse than him yelling at you because this means he’s absolutely right about something and he knows that you know it too. 

Once you have arrived at your door, you feel Jimin staring into the back of your skull. In his defense-You’re a big part of his heart. A sister and a best friend. One who always cares about people, and expects nothing in return. You’re pure that way.  So watching you be okay with this just isn’t, and hasn’t been sitting well with him. He’s tried not to get involved because he understands his baby sister, isn’t a baby. But this is getting out of hand. 

“Listen, I didn’t mean to out your business ____ but you have got to stop letting him treat you like this. Even if some people don’t know. I do, Hobi knows, hell even Yoongi asks if you’re still together and why. You know he doesn’t like to pry. That should say something on it owns. You know who else knows? that person you keep dodging. Maybe texting him would do you some good. You know Jungkook has wanted nothing more than you happy his whole life. ” Jimin said, his face extremely serious. Why is he acting like you don’t know this already?

“Jimin, SeoJun is trying. I promise.” You exhaled and put your hand on his shoulder. Youre not doing good with your attempt at reassuring him. You can tell. 

“No, he isn’t.  If he was explain to me why today- a Saturday- he couldn’t spend time with you. Does he usually work Saturdays? Because this seems new to me. You know Namjoon works at the same office as him? No one is there today but magically he is. I know you may not want to be with Jungkook anymore or gave up on your crush. We know it sucks, and life takes us in different directions - but at least find someone who treats you closely to how he does. You deserve it. I love you.” He said as he planted a kiss on your forehead. 

You nod and hug him and as he makes his way back down the stairs he makes sure he yells “Text him!”

“Love you too chim.” You sighed as you unlocked your apartment door. 

Maybe you should go check on Seojun, he could be under a lot of stress and you’re sure with the way you two have been bickering it’s not helping. Maybe you play a bigger role in this than you think you do. 

You decided on bringing him some food, checking the time to see that it was 2:45. If you start now you could have his food to him by 4:00, which is still a good time. 

As you pack the Tupperware with all the food you’ve made, you end up taking time to check social media before heading out. 

Jungkook posted a picture of his video game screen. That was it. You check in every time you get a chance. Just to see that he is well. Maybe Jimin and Hobi are right, Just text him, he didn’t even do anything wrong. Your boyfriend is just insecure about you and Jungkook’s friendship, but surely he didn’t deserve to be ghosted. Especially when you would rather be with him anyway. You would have told your brother and friend this earlier while out, but you just couldn’t. 

You grabbed your keys and headed to your car. The drive to his workplace felt unfamiliar. Has it really been that long? The question Jimin asked earlier still burning in your mind. When would he make time for you? Why is he working on a Saturday? You had way too many thoughts about him at this moment- all of them unsettling. 

Finally, you arrived at your destination -SeoJun’s office. you can’t help but smile seeing more than one car. Maybe Jimin was wrong. He could really just need to catch up on work. 

You approached the door, entered your boyfriend’s entry code, and walked towards the elevator. with each ting of the elevator, you felt a bit more excitement. Seojun hopefully would be happy to see you too. That would motivate you to try to do this more often, you thought to yourself. That would motivate you to put more into falling in love with him again. 

The elevator finally stops on his floor, and your feet lead you closer to his office space.  From where you’re standing, The door looks cracked which is different for him. He’s always been the type to need absolute silence and space, but then again there’s just one other person here. 

Wait a minute… Is that moaning? 

He does say he works with interesing people, but porn at work is just absurd. There’s no way anyone could be that bold. Insanity… 

exhaling deeply, calming yourself, and continuing walking. Just to see your worst fear once you approached the door.

“Right there… seojun!”

Is that his assistant ?? 

The same one he allegedly fired MONTHS AGO. The same one who you told him was mean and wouldn’t allow you entry before saying “Seojun wouldn’t be with anyone like you.”  The reason you had even been given the entry code incase she gave you attitude   It all made sense. The late nights at work were simply not late nights at work. They were late-nights spent cheating. All the times you waited up, because you were trying to save your relationship. How the fuck could he do this to you? He even wore the blazer you purchased for him when he first got employed to work this morning. What about you? What were you doing wrong? Matterfact, Why the fuck are you blaming yourself?

You dropped the food in your hand as your tears began to well up. So much for Saturday’s at work, So much for trying on your end. Scratch what you said earlier, Seojun is a bad person. You needed to get out of here and so you turned kicking the food as you did, hearing your partner’s mistake speak once last time while you hurried and moved from his sight line. 

“Is someone in the office Seojun?” Her voice irritating the life out of you. 

“It’s probably just the janitor and it’ll make him think twice before looking at my girl if he see’s me fucking her. Won’t it?” you could hear the chuckle underneath his voice. 

HIS GIRL?!! Where is she when he doesn’t feel good and starts acting like a damn toddler? She doesn’t wake up early on Mondays to iron his clothes and prep his food like you do. Has she met his mother and had to deal with her bullshit? That woman is a drag. Staying with him is a drag. All the things you’ve endured..for this. For nothing. 

His girl…that’s the last thing you heard, and It fucking sucked that everyone was right about him. 

As you stepped into the elevator your tears just wouldn’t stop flowing down. Maybe it’s because you know you’ve been playing happy for no reason.  To be betrayed. He didn’t have one bit of decency about it either. He could have broken up with you by now…how could he continue to watch you try and make you feel like you weren’t good enough just to do this to you?

You need a hug.

You need Jungkook. 

You made your way back to your car, unlocked it, and put your phone on hands-free to dial Jungkook’s number. Except he didn’t answer. You have done it this time. Ignoring the one person who cares about you for what? Seojun?

You finally reached your house and put your keys on the kitchen counter.  You walked further inside to wash your tear-stained cheeks, and that’s when you heard a specific ringtone come through.

You couldn’t help but smile as you felt tears welling up, yet again. He is your superhero, you know you shouldn’t have ignored him. 

Then your phone began to ring. “No, I don’t hate you. No you didn’t do anything !” You yelled as fast as you could. Jungkook needed to know he wasn’t the problem. You made sure you told people when things weren’t their fault. Unlike someone you know you don’t mind letting people know things aren’t their fault . 

“Good, that’s literally the one thing in life that would destroy me!” Jungkook’s smile and calmness can be felt through a phone. That’s also something you love so much about him.

“What? Someone hating you?”

“No- you hating me. I couldn’t live with myself like that.”

“I’ll never hate you, and I never hated you. Can I come over? I know I owe you an apology”

“Of course, you used to live here. You used to pop up randomly too. You don’t have to ask.” His sweet soothing voice spoke through the phone. 

“I never know if you could have company or anything and I-“

“I’d make them leave even if I did…” He said cutting you off. “You’re more important to me.”

There goes your heart doing somersaults.

“I’m sorry kookie, I shouldn’t have just ignored you for two weeks.”

“You drove me insane, I’ll admit it but I’m just really fucking happy to hear your voice. Bring a bathing suit. Let’s have food, watch some bad documentaries, and swim in the hot tub. Like we used to.”

Another thing about Jungkook that’s so special. That sheer excitement to be bored with you as opposed to being bored alone. 

“Can I stay the night?” You ask, not knowing you have just made Jungkook’s heart flutter 10X the speed it does on a normal day

“Yes of course ___ ! Bam is gonna be so excited! We will see you when you get here, yeah?”

“Yeah.” You say back and then you hear the line disconnect.

Once you’re done packing your stuff, you make sure to grab the gift you bought him earlier and head to Jungkook’s for the night. You contemplate texting Seojun but decide not to. He just shouldn’t be in the way. He shouldn’t be in your way any longer.

The drive felt like forever as you tried to keep your composure but every red light felt like more time to think about what you saw, and with that comes realizing although the cheating hurts and feels like hell- nothing feels worse than the fact for the last two weeks, 14 whole days you put Jungkook on the back burner. All because Seojun asked you to.  You listened to everything he said without considering yourself- just to walk in on him fucking someone else. You also start thinking about how you fell in love with the idea of him. You have been denying your happiness for someone who was pretending to be the hardest worker of the year. Probably presented himself as single to his coworkers besides Namjoon, who would have told your brother. Sneaking behind your back for that relationship with his little personal assistant Emma the whole fucking time. -Personal assistant my foot! 

You finally reach Jungkook’s place and walk to the door of the penthouse, entering the passcode- it’s still your birthday for the code. Jungkook always said he chooses things he likes as passcodes, no matter how silly you told him it was. 

The door opens and you hear barking, meaning you need to get a treat for someone else you’ve been neglecting. Bam immediately found you as soon as you reached for one but instead of trying to get to the treat he just whined at your feet.  You’ve been a bad friend to him too. 

“Hey hey, I’m sorry boy! I didn’t think about how this would be for you. How is my favorite dog!?” You said squatting down to pet his head and behind his ears. 

“Geez and here I thought you came over for me…What the hell are your eyes so red for?” Jungkook said tilting his head.

You swallowed and shook your head no. So, he held out his arms. “Come here princess, what happened?” He asked once more. 

“He’s a fucking cheater, and the worst part is- I didn’t confront him.” You said as you let Jungkook wrap his arms around you. You’ve missed his warmth not just physically but his aura. He’s your sunlight in a sense. 

“Fuck, that’s rough. I’m sorry. I’ll do my best to cheer you up today. Today you’re the only person who matters, not him, not whoever he was cheating with. You want to talk about it?”

You nodded your head yes “Let me change first, You said we were getting in the hot tub?”

He nodded once more and kissed your forehead. Why does it always feel so good when he does that?

Once you’ve finished changing, You pet Bam one more time and make your way outside.  Jungkook is shirtless in front of the grill cooking what smells like the most delicious meat ever. You realize you’ve missed coming here after a long day of work and watching movies with him. You’ve missed someone even taking the time out of their day to do something for you.  

“Steak, Ramyun, veggies, and Highballs!” He says grinning at you. 

“You are the cutest person alive.” You mumble.  Not knowing Jungkook heard that too and he hurriedly turned around so you didn’t see him blush. 

He closes the top of the grill as the meat cooks climbs onto the bench surrounding the hot tub, and looks directly into your eyes. 

“You wanted to talk, and Therapist JK is here to listen!” He says

As you start to recap the events of your day with Jungkook, He feels absolutely horrible. How could he have not been there to protect you? What person cheats on you anyway? Seojun is a fucking dumbass. 

“..And the worst part is too, I tried even when I Knew I was falling out of love with him because I just couldn’t see myself giving up on him. I’m such a dummy.”

“You’re not dumb for trying to see the good in someone, maybe the act of looking for something that doesn’t exist in him was dumb- seeing it in him of all people. You know I never liked him - but you’re not dumb.” He says and takes a sip of his drink and you do the same.

“Why are you being such a good friend to me?” You ask.

The news release for the WHALE exhibit, which ran from July 16 to July 26, 2021 on Times Square, describes more about the design teams behind the exhibit:

Appearing on SILVERCAST [Media’s] 30,000 sq. ft. iconic Times Square digital spectacular [screen] known as "Big Kahuna" will be a media art execution titled WHALE. Illuminating the pedestrian plaza, the public media art display will transform the enormous screen into a hyper-realistic, undulating ocean environment occupied by a massive blue whale. The whale is made of water and will move freely and harmoniously among the waves. [...] WHALE can be seen for 60 seconds every half hour starting at 12 p.m. each day and ending at midnight. Secret Gate

The small, walled off garden on the island is one of the few places SQ has good memories of. He and his dad used to sit here all the time, together. SQ hadn't felt lonely then. He feels more lonely than ever now. He hadn't come back here in a long time, even before they left the island. His dad had stopped coming and it had felt--no, SQ had felt empty. Empty and angry and sad. Now it is overgrown, wild; it has become untamed and feral upon being abandoned. SQ feels sorry for it, and almost wishes he'd come back sooner to keep it company, and then feels foolish for pitying a garden. Gardens didn't get lonely; gardens weren't sad when they were left. And then SQ spots it: a gate, covered in ivy, that he swears was never there before. It creaks gently in the wind, a sudden breeze, and SQ moves forward as if in a trance. A secret gate... had it been covered before? Why would his dad hide part of the garden from him? He laughs at the thought, a little bitter, because his dad had already kept so much from him: what was a gate to that? Idiosyncratic

The thing about Mr. Benedict's home, and the web of connections they'd all amassed, was that they were all a bit really fucking bizarre. People notice.

ok so maybe a tl;dr kinda post. it's me just writing down my thoughts about the apartment stuff.

so i technically started my apartment hunt last year when i thought i was moving, and while i did realy love two places (owned my the same company so the floor plans were the same) - mainly bc of the amount of light it had from window set up, for the amount of sq ft you got for the price, it just didn't and still doesn't make sense.

but with those in mind and also touring apartments with my friend who was planning to move in this month, there's been a lot to choose from. there's another apartment on my list that another friend lives at, but i think ultimately it's similar to the two above where the price you get for the space isn't the cheapest, especially for what i need.

which led me two the last two apartments i toured today. starting with the second one:

the price is fantastic for the space (ideally need a 2 bedroom or a 1 bed with den/study; i'm hybrid for work). the place was fine. gated and really close to a major area of shops. the biggest issue is the visitor parking - it's all at the front of the complex, and there's only about 25 spaces to which the leasing agent said they're full most of the time. i also didn't get the wow feeling with it. it was just okay. i really wish i would've loved it bc on paper, it would've been great.

but the first place we toured? it's the apartment that had a great unit for the perfect pricing that someone snatched up two days ago (that i posted about a few days ago), and i'm so upset about it because this place is perfect. that unit was a 1 bed with study, but there's no more available so my next option is a 2 bedroom. i can afford it, technically, but it also means with utilities, my car note and other expenses, i won't have much left over each month for casual spending, etc.

which isn't necessarily a bad thing. so many people are in that position right now given the economy. and this wouldn't be that expensive if i didn't have my car note - so my options are to suck it up and go for the space and just be extremely frugal for awhile - with the intention of moving my banking to a credit union and try to apply for refinancing there, which would hopefully lower my interest rate and loan payment on my car.

i'm also inclined to go for this space because i truly fell in love with it. it's exactly what i need; the community is great. it's gated and safe, and i love everything about it, and it's one of the only properties that i truly felt i could live there and enjoy it. i'm also someone that is very intuitive, and this just feels right - like deep down i think i know i won't really be that happy anywhere else. and i hate to hype it up so much bc i know i could move in and end up hating it, but i truly think this may be it?? i'm just so hesitant because of the price. i feel really stupid for even considering it because i feel like what i should be doig is being more sensible, find a smaller place and save money - especially bc if i go with the bigger unit, it also leaves me with not very much to put into savings.

i have a quote, but i've seen the prices online fluctuate, so i'm going to test my luck to see if it'll drop down to a lower rate. if someone nabs the unit before me, then i'll probably forfeit the need for a bigger space, go smaller and then see if i can move into a bigger unit the following year. i would hate to do that because i really want to separate my work from my personal space (this is a big deal for me given my last toxic work environment), and it's easier to do that with a den/study or two bedroom, but i really love the place enough to consider a year there with a smaller unit and then potentially move within the same complex. like, it will suck not having the space i want and not being able to completely remove work (my desk would either have to go in the living room or bedroom, and bc my desk is in my bedroom right now, that's also a big no. i highly do not recommend putting work where you sleep). but i think i could hold out for another year bc i think i'll just be excited to have my own space.

so that's where i'm at right now tbh. i think i'm set on the apt complex; now it's just choosing the unit.

*i should also note that if i got a 2 bedroom unit on the 2nd or 3rd floor, that would be cheaper. my ideal is the first floor bc i've lived on the first floor in my current place, and i'm so used to it. i could possibly do a 2nd floor unit since it'd be less stairs to climb, but it's also not ideal.

Why do all electric vehicle companies occupy Warehouse and Industrial space in Hosur?

With the electric buzz that has taken the nation by storm, the Government is planning to develop EV parks in the same line as SEZ and pharma parks across the country. The EV park aims to house majority original equipment manufacturers, battery manufacturers, and charging infrastructure developers at one place. With the vision to develop an entire ecosystem at one same place, the Government plans to offer plug-and-play business models to EV industries who will set up their units in these parks. One such park is located in north western districts of Tamil Nadu, just across the Karnataka border from Bengaluru, which houses a number of new-age EV companies, such as, Ather Energy, Ola Electronics, Simple Energy, among others.

The Rise of Hosur Several factors have helped the Hosur belt boom with several big-ticket projects and investments in the region. The cluster witnessed two substantially high profile investments in the last couple of years, with Tata electronics setting up a ₹5,000-crore mobile components plant at Udhanapalli, and Ola, a ₹2,500-crore electric vehicle (EV) plant at nearby Pochampally. These massive investments triggered the new EV boom in Hosur, with EV companies preferring Hosur for putting up their manufacturing units given a competent ancillary supplier network, proximity to Bengaluru where corporate offices of these companies are located, plus amicable and skilled labour force in two-wheeler, automotive, and electronics segment.

Well-oiled Supply-chain Network The region is equipped with a strong supply-chain ecosystem, making it easier for the companies to locally source components necessary for manufacturing and assembly. This, in turn, would help us in improving cost and time efficiency for the businesses. Moreover, companies are prompting tier-2 suppliers to move their base to Hosur area, to make smaller components in the close vicinity to further add to the efficiency.

Financial SOP and Easier Admittance EV companies in the Hosur area are upheld by EV policy contrived by Tamil Nadu Government. The policy is drafted to support EV companies with repayment of SGST for electric vehicle producing, capital appropriation for battery fabricating, business motivation as far as repayment of EPF for a time of one year, exclusion from instalment of Electricity Tax till 2025 and 100 percent stamp obligation exception.

Proximity to Bengaluru As most of the corporate offices are located in Bengaluru, the first preference of companies is to put up a plant within a comfortable driving distance from head office. As most of the senior employees and mid-level management sit at the head office, most of the companies want employees to be able to move between the office and the plant in an hour or so maximum. For instance, Ather Energy corporate office is located in Koramangala, which is 60 minutes away from the Ather Energy plant in Hosur. Moreover, the connection via Electronics city flyover helps cut through the traffic, which was initially the pain point of employees moving between Koramangala and Whitefield, where Ather Energy plant was located.

Availability of Land and Scalability Scope Given the area related bottleneck in Bengaluru, it is essential for EV companies or any other manufacturing units to look into areas nearby that can accommodate projected production capacity and growth plans. Given, land investments are not made again and again, it is always advisable for the companies to take up the area based on the most optimistic business projections. With the same thought, Ather Energy Hosur plant is spread across 300,000 Sq. Ft. with capacity to produce 1,10,000 scooters annually. Ather Energy envisions that the plant will serve as Ather Energy’s national manufacturing hub, catering to demand from across the country. Moreover, the plant is nearly 10 times the capacity of the Whitefield, Bengaluru, plant.

Hosur Historic Precedence Within the close proximity to Bengaluru, Hosur area has historically been a dominant space for two wheeler, automotive, and electronics business segments. Given that EV is primarily an amalgamation of these three segments, it is therefore a natural choice for EV companies to develop manufacturing units in the Hosur area. Moreover, with established and consistent access to power, land, and labour relevant to the industry, Hosur is the first choice of investment. Furthermore, a lot of fossil-fuelled automotive industries are also expanding into the EV segment. This has prompted an easy transition for existing automotive companies in the area. Also, as Tamil Nadu has over 800 engineering colleges, the state offers an intellectual and skilled labour pool ensuring steady stream for the workforce.

Amicable Labour and Supportive Workforce In the area, it is widely noted that the kind of labour unrest Bengaluru witnesses is not seen in the Tamil Nadu north western districts, which are barely an hour away from each other. The most plausible reason for this could be the existential automotive businesses in the Hosur area, unlike Bengaluru, where labourers are experiencing the automotive industry for the first time. In Hosur, both industry and labour have matured, and the companies have learnt that exploitative practices are rather counter-productive. Therefore, most of the EV companies find this a huge draw in making investment decisions in the Hosur area.

Hosur Meteoric rise and the way ahead Given the reasons above along with a network of highways facilitating logistics of movement and the welcoming policies set by the Tamil Nadu Government for automotive companies, Hosur belt is emerging as an industrial bowl for the electric vehicle manufacturers. Tata, Delta, Ola Mobility, Ather Energy, and Simple Energy are some of the big names in the electronics and electric vehicle (EV) sectors that have made Hosur and the surrounding districts their home in the past few years.

Along with growing awareness and spiralling petrol prices, the demand for EV is set to increase significantly in the coming years. As per the data, In January 2022, overall high-speed EV two-wheeler registrations rose to 27,563 units as compared to 24,725 units in December 2021. To match the rising demand, manufacturers have to up their capacity, for example Ather Energy recently commissioned its second facility in Hosur to increase its capacity from 1,20,000 units to 4,00,000 units. Ola Electric has set out to build the world’s largest EV facility with an initial annual capacity of two million units. Furthermore, TVS has also decided to invest over 1,100 crores in the area for the new EV plant. If the cards are played right, this belt could further emerge as a global player given the fast adoption of EVs, especially in the two-wheeler segment.

question on the air purifiers! when they give the square footage do they only mean it in like one open space or throughout multiple rooms? my whole house is maybe 900ft². could I get say one airmega 250 and just put it in the central hall (living room/kitchen is on one end and the bedrooms and bathroom are at the other end) or would I need to get like a unit for each room?

With the disclaimer that I am not an expert in air purification and have not had the time or energy to research this as much as I'd like, the short answer to your question is that you'd probably want multiple air purifiers (or a much bigger/better one) for your space. The long answer is that there are several factors you'd need to take into account when choosing a purifier, including:

Air Changes per Hour (ACH): When air purifier companies list a unit's square foot coverage, almost all of them (including Coway) list the coverage for one air change per hour at the highest fan speed. Especially if your goal is to reduce the concentration of airborne viruses in your space, you want 4-6 ACH at minimum. The Coway Airmega 250 can offer 1 ACH at 1,860 sq. ft., 2 at 930, and 4 at 465. This means it does an amazing job of filtering the air in my 120 square foot office, but you'd probably want at least two of them in your 900 square foot living space. (Note: Your HVAC system will also contribute to the overall ACH in a space, though you may not have access to all the data needed to calculate how much air it's moving or how good the filter is.)

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): CADR/CFM math makes my brain hurt, but essentially, CADR is basically a reflection of the air flow (CFM) times the efficiency of the air filter. It's a measure that makes it easier to compare air purifiers without being misled by marketing (see above). Generally, you want a filter with a CADR that equals at least two-thirds of a room's area, and a smoke CADR (if provided) is the best proxy for a filter's ability to clear virus particles from the air. The Airmega 250's smoke CADR is 249, meaning it'll be most effective in a room no larger than 370-ish square feet.

Noise: CADR and ACH tend to be measured based on the device's highest fan speed. In my personal experience, most decent air purifiers with multiple speed settings are near-silent at level one, audible but tolerable at level 2, and sound like jet engines at level 3+. Coway is not exempt from this judgment, though I've found their purifiers to be quieter than most for their size. Unless you are profoundly unbothered by white noise, you'll likely want to run the purifier below its max fan speed, which means you can expect slightly lower CADR and ACH than advertised.

Unit Position (and walls): Air purifiers are most effective if you place them near the middle of an open space, as opposed to in a corner or near a wall. If your house is essentially an open-concept square, one purifier in a central area (maybe something a little heftier than an Airmega 250) might be sufficient to rid the air of most allergens and provide some protection from airborne viruses. However, if you have a lot of walls and doors and/or want better protection, you're better off getting a couple of purifiers and spreading them out.

I hope this info is helpful! It's a bummer that adequate air filtration is so expensive, but at the end of the day, even one decent-sized purifier in one section of your house will make some measurable difference in your health and well-being. And if your primary concern is COVID, not environmental allergies or air pollution, remember that opening windows is free!

To everyone: Have you gotten into any conflict with N51? If so, what was it like dealing with that faction? They seem pretty well put together.

I do believe I'm the only one who's had any run-ins with them.

Dealing with them is certainly a...Unique experience. They are well trained and well equipped, even moreso than the Nexus Core. Their fighting strategies differ greatly from what you typically see from most factions.

Typically, at least in cases like the Nexus Core and AAHW, they prefer to throw as many bodies into the fray as possible in hopes of overwhelming the enemy.

The N51 do not operate on this principle, they send in only how many they believe they need, and every man they send in is on the top of their game. They seem to be comprised entirely of Generation 2 Nevadeans, with the exception of their Mortars, which are synthetic, robotic entities.

For whatever reason, they do not employ the typical tactic of simply cloning more soldiers, which means their numbers are limited. They have no way to make up for casualties, so every mission they conduct is done so with upmost care.

I can only theorize to what lead to the initial confrontation at the Nevadean Supermall, but the evidence goes to show that SQ inadvertently intercepted an N51 scouting party, perhaps they had somehow gotten wind of the artifact around the same time we did.

A skirmish ensued, both myself and the N51 lost men, but the N51 were forced into a retreat when they had realized that my troopers were too hot to handle.

Knowing they would soon retaliate, I had sent in my best operative at the time to hold off the attack, of which they did so with flying colors. From what I could gather from their uniforms, they had belonged to Fury Company, and I believe that SQ may have very well wiped out Fury Company in the Nevada Supermall. These losses, I presume, were most likely extremely devastating. I credit this incident to why I have not heard from the N51 in many years.

In terms of factions to face head on, they are the ones I look the least forward to. They're smart, tactical, and know how to fight. They fight hard and move fast, and they can be devastatingly calculated under the right conditions. Of course, they are not without their weaknesses, which I have examined thoroughly.

However, they may very well be a faction to rival my own in terms of secrecy, I know next to nothing about them. Their leader is mostly likely a Generation-01, but I have no idea who they are or what their goals are, nor do I know what kind of weapons, vehicles, and men they may yet be in possession of.

I eagerly await to meet them again, hopefully under more positive circumstances, but I am more than prepared to handle them if need be. They pose a significant threat, but I am confident that we can match and even surpass their might.

A millionaire who illegally built "Britain's biggest man cave" could be facing jail again as his latest court deadline expired – with neighbours dubbing him an "arrogant little twerp".

Accountant Graham Wildin, 70, was sent to prison for repeatedly refusing to knock down the extension, which he did not have permission for before building.

He built the 10,000 sq ft leisure complex, which has a bowling alley, casino and a cinema at the back of his home without applying for planning permission from Forest of Dean District Council (FODCC).

Wildin, of Cirencester, Gloucestershire, was jailed last year for failing to comply with a court order to decommission the building, after an eight year battle to keep it.

He was given 18 weeks from his release from prison to comply with a previous court order to make the giant leisure complex unusable by "soft stripping" the inside – the deadline expired last Friday – 27 January.

It is unclear if any work has been done, although removals vans were spotted there in recent weeks.

However if it is not fully stripped he may be sent back to prison again.

However, officials could delay a decision until Wildin's appeal against the prison term at Court of Appeal on 1 March.

Last April a company owned by members of Wildin's family acquired the properties that surround the building in a bid to save the vast leisure complex.

After initially moving his classic car collection onto the street to create "parking chaos" it emerged that he purchased neighbouring land and property for his family in order to block any attempts by the council to have it forcibly removed.

Posting online, social media users were scathing about Wildin's repeated refusal to knock the building down.

For the first time in my life, I am alone.

In a tiny, 275 sq foot apartment, in the middle of the city, I am by myself.

It's been about two months since I moved in; 3 months since my first long-term relationship ended.

And I am having a hard time.

I have never been on my own like this before. I went from living with my parents, to college roommates, and then eventually my college boyfriend.

Don’t get me wrong, the ability to have a space that is all mine, that I can decorate however I want, is fucking awesome.

But, the full weight of being alone hits me after work, when I’m cooking dinner on my small gas stove, and he isn’t there to come up behind me, to grab my waist and kiss my neck. My dog is no longer at the base of my feet, begging for scraps. There is less silverware in the drawers and only my shoes are next to the door.

How do people do this?

I know that my experience is not unique. People go through break-ups all the time. 20 somethings move out and into new places.

But fuck, does it feel isolating despite this.

Before I moved out here, I never did anything by myself. I always managed to make sure a friend, my boyfriend, or a family member was accompanying me whenever I left the house.

My psychiatrist says this is because I am uncomfortable with my own company. She's right, I'm sure.

It's hard being in my head. I don't like it. I don't know what to do with myself.

I want this to change.

I want to enjoy my own company. I want to go to the museum down the street, the one I've been telling myself I'll go to for weeks. I want to lay on the grass in a park and not think about whether people are looking at me. I want to be happy with who I am.

Since I can't afford therapy, I’m starting this blog, to document my journey, and to give myself a space to journal. Some improvement in my writing would be an added bonus.

I don't expect this to be seen by anyone. Being able to just write down my thoughts and send them out into the world behind anonymity sure does feel good though.

Turns out the Emperor caught wind of the Blights’ little private sale and is not too pleased with them essentially providing the people with a private army.

I think I mentioned last season that Belos was clever in the sense that he knows how to stay in power without having to resort to shows of force. He was willing to let Eda & Gang escape from the petrification ceremony if it meant the citizens of the Isles stayed complacent. He even managed to spin a story about how it was all the will of the Titan.

This too is a clever move. Removing a large company, banning their products, or imprisoning its owners might cause a ruckus. But buying up their product and even hiring them to further develop it in the name of the Empire’s glory? Some potential customers might be a bit miffed, but they are less likely to start whispering dangerous lies about their wise and merciful leader…

Random note, but I kinda miss the old outro, I think I liked it better.

Anyways, that was Episode 2! I very much enjoyed it. The reveal of the Blight parents, the return of Willow, Gus & Amity and some juicy lore around the glyphs were the obvious highlights. It even had some nice action in the second half and you know I like me some action.

As per usual, I rewatched the episode in one go and here are some things I either missed or forgot to mention:

•Momma Blight uses the Mittens nickname. Either she came up with it, or Alador, or the twins did and it just stuck.

•Amity was keeping a photo of her new friends with her during the presentation and it’s making me feel a little soft on the inside, all squishy in my guts. It’s either that or the banoffee pie I ate earlier.

•After Amity easily destroyed the first Abomaton at the start of the episode, Momma Blight hurriedly announces a second presentation next week. As it turns out, they did hold a second presentation, presumably next week.

•There’s a sign in the Park’s residence saying ”Home Teeth Home.” Is it just a pun, or clever foreshadowing that one or both of Willow’s dads are dentists? Time will tell!

•Luz is starting to blush back at Amity. The mutual attraction is growing! Finally! Don’t get me wrong, hilariously oblivious Luz is hilarious, but it can get a it old after a while.

•I spotted Alador’s Abomination Coven brand on his wrist. In the scene where he calms down Odalia after the presentation ended. Just as he takes this hands off her shoulders you can spot it, for split second.

If I had one complaint about this episode, it’d be that Willow & Gus really didn’t contribute much. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and it was good to see them again. But imagine for a moment that Amity didn’t go get them before running off to save Luz. What changes? Nothing. They did nothing to help save Luz. They didn’t even help get past the guards, Ed & Em did that. Again, this is a minor complaint, I just think it’d’ve been nice to see them do something.

The Blights, the Blights… what to make of you?

The impression I get from this episode was this: Odalia is an overly controlling mother. She is obsessed with her family’s status and riches and will push her children (or mostly Amity) to be the best… even if it ends up hurting them. Alador is a bit harder to pin down. He mostly appears to be very apathetic to everything going on around him. In the end, he does end up convincing his wife to let Luz, Willow & Gus back in Hexside; he even snaps at her, though only for a brief moment. He then calmly reasons with her and plays to her desires. I get the sense he avoids conflict… even when he shouldn’t.

I want to briefly mention the twins. It is implied in earlier episodes that they get away with more stuff than Amity. This makes me think that Odalia was unable to control them and they turned out to be trouble makers, which is why she exercises more control over Amity, to make sure her potential isn’t squandered.

There is probably more I could say about the Blight parents, more speculation and theories, but I think I’m gonna end it here. I get the feeling they and their relationship with Amity is gonna be important in future episodes, so we’ll save some juice for then.
