Melinda Desmond gives me actual shivers lol her expressions are so undecipherable??? That one when Yor wouldn't stop apologising jump scared me so hard skfjs and the the one in the car??? We have no idea what her deal is and it's really unsettling, especially contrasted with how nice she seems outside of those moments

melinda’s hard to read but i vaguely assume her reactions this chapter mean one of three things

1. despite being a hands off parent she wants nothing to get in the way of damian’s education/upbringing (sort of no one can be or have damian type vibe, isolate my child and abuse him by getting rid of all connections)

2. she’s actually a huge damianya shipper (for some reason) and basically is really excited (albeit weird and poorly communicative) about the prospects of damian having his “first love” and having a “omg my bestie and i are now family bc our kids married each other” plot

3. homewrecker type beat where she really just wants yor (least probable but also the most entertaining route bc it both threatens operation styrx AND furthers plan c mommy bffs in the worst way possible thus driving loid insane)

Now that I’ve caught up with the Spy x Family manga,

Some questions and predictions:

-so does Garden not side with the Secret State Service? The shopkeeper must know about their existence and Yor looking suspicious for being single wouldn’t be a problem because then he can just tell the SSS to leave Yor alone since she’s part of them. Seems like they’re trying to keep peace within the country and trying not to provoke another war with the West so they might actually side with WISE???

-does the Garden not target Twilight? Do they not know about him? I feel like they would have known about him and if they see WISE as a threat they wouldn’t have let Yor be his fake wife. It would be interesting to see the Shopkeeper interact with Loid. And McMahon with Loid.

-And doesn’t the Garden know that Yuri works for the SSS?

-I think Fiona would be the first one to find out that Anya was a test subject of a certain organization and a telepath. Anya might try to stop her from telling Loid about it

-so since Yor lost her parents at a young age and didn’t want to be put in foster care and be separated from her brother, the Shopkeeper must have decided to help her out by hiring her and hiding details about them so the police wouldn’t separate them. It would be interesting to see a flashback of Yor’s childhood but hopefully in a way of her telling Loid

-since Matthew McMahon is the policy director of City Hall and considering as skilled as he is in sensing enemies on the hunt for Olka, he must have known that Franky copied all the files of single women working there and he might have known that it was because Twilight is looking for a fake wife for Operation Strix. McMahon didn’t tell Yor about this so she wouldn’t blow Twilight’s cover but the Garden has the similar goal with WISE in stopping any war. Hence why during the cruise arc he wouldn’t call Yor by her codename Thorn Princess, but refer to her as “Mrs. Forger,” even when they’re just alone with Olka and Mr. Grey

-Maybe Matthew McMahon is Twilight’s father? (Ok most likely not but it’s kinda funny to think about it)

-this was definitely interesting from ch. 66

Obviously we the audience know that Loid just lied about being interested in the National Unity Party because he’s trying to stop the war that Desmond is plotting but it seems here that the Shopkeeer might think of targeting Loid if he decides to have ties with the National Unity Party. But I feel like the Garden has a very reliable information network so the Shopkeeper might eventually find out Twilight’s real plans about Desmond and might want to side with him and WISE.

- it seems like Edgar from ch. 1/episode 1 and the Garden have different definitions of traitors:

- when Yor marries Loid for real her new codename should be “Thorn Queen” since she’s marrying the King of spies haha!!!

Also, I love how dramatic and over the top everyone is in SxF. Like people judge Loid for not suspecting Yor for anything despite her strength, but have the you seen everyone else? Have you seen Bill Watkins? Have you seen his daughter treat every activity like shes about to unleash her ultimate power?!

Went into chapter 66 hoping yor would still be able to have some friends and came out of it a nervous wreck despite getting what i wanted skfjdj

So, normally when characters in Spy x Family are being kind and sincere, they have transparent speech balloons (which I think is a common shojo trope).

But in ch. 66, only one speech balloon appears transparent. It's possible that it's just because the other one is on a blank background, but Endo could have drawn a background; even a simple one like shojo bubbles or something.

I'm wondering if this is to get across that Loid is being half-sincere. It may hint that he does genuinely want Yor to be able to unwind, even if he's also thinking of the mission.

There's also the look on his face.

It's the same as when he told Anya to cherish her friends.

I wonder if all of this is hinting that Loid's Twilight persona is starting to lose his cold edge, and the warmth of Loid's true identity is starting to show through; making him a man who's no less calculating and competent, but one that's capable of valuing people and forming bonds.

SPY X FAMILY CH.66 (Manga Spoilers)

As predicted, Loid went full Twilight/Operation Strix Mode. (Poor Anya seemed distraught by the information overload)

Also, it's official, PLAN C IS NOW IN COMMERCE. Possible canning of Anya? Ganbare Anya, I believe in you!

Also poor Franky(Scruffy), Loid doesn't seem to see him as a friend.

I am excited to see where the Melinda and Yor friendship/Plan C goes though. It seems Melinda has ulterior motives since she purposely evaded mentioning her name to Yor. But I wonder how her story arc will play out.

idk, I personally think she's nice but I'm still sus of Melinda.(Would be interesting if Yor ended up assassinating her)

Lastly, I would like to take a moment of Silence for Damian. Poor boy doesn't get the love and affection a child his age deserves. The Desmond family seems so distant from each other and seems like a loveless family... I mean his mom seemed a little too ok about her kid being hit.

Please, someone give this boy some love

Well, at least Anya helps spice things up and pays him some mind I suppose.

Can't wait to see how the grand scheme of Plan A and Plan C work out.

I'm rlly on edge after ch 66 bUT the part where loid reassures yor that she doesn't have to work so hard to be normal (bc normal is relative) and says that it'll be lovely for her to have friends skfjsjf he rationalizes it in the context of the mission but you can't tell me he didn't say it out of some level of care for yor lol he cut off his own internal spy monologueTM after hearing her sound unsure to make sure she felt supported and happy
