Rusty O’Neill was an “adventuress” who appeared in her own three part series in the humourous publication, Camp Comics. Part of the comic book heroine trope of bored rich girls having too much time on their hands and becoming crimefighters, Rusty, accompanied by her willing best friend, Betsy Saunders, enters the world of espionage while on a Caribbean and South American cruise. In a fast-paced and entertaining series of stories, the bored Rusty, looking for adventure, finds it when she and Betsy accidentally walk into the middle of a fight when they alight from their cruise ship in Panama and, in the chaos, Rusty has a roll of microfilm pressed into her hands by a sinister stranger. The girls later realise what has happened when they return to the ship and come across a doppelgänger of Rusty, a woman who turns out to be a foreign spy known as Madam Q. Instead of taking the microfilm to the authorities, the excited Rusty persuades Betsy that she should help her impersonate Madam Q, thus allowing the daring young women to reveal and capture the entire spy ring. Betsy is convinced and the pair set out to trap the female spy. The page above shows Rusty and Betsy rather easily overpowering Madam Q and leaving the “imitation Mata Hari” humiliatingly tied up and gagged in her own bath/shower in her cabin. Rusty's and Betsy's subsequent adventures involves much danger, skulduggery and cases of mistaken identity, as they track down the spymaster, Zandusi, before the two unlikely heroines eventually win through.
It is a shame Rusty and Betsy were not given more adventures as they were somewhat different from the standard Golden Age comic book heroines in that they managed to become accidental secret agents without the aid of a clear pre-existing character role (nurse, aviator, reporter etc), training or male companion/rescuer. There is in fact a distinct feel of a more impetuous Nancy Drew about Rusty. Rusty’s adventures are confined to the three issues of Camp Comics, which ran from February to April 1942.
The page above appears in Rusty O’Neill’s first adventure and was published in Camp Comics #1 (February 1942).

this post was the catalyst for this comic, and i was also thinking of a desi song lyric (tere dil ke sheher mein ghar mera ho gaya / in the city of your heart, my home is made) and just... hmmm.... leaving your mark.... making a house into a home..... when the marks a child inevitably leaves behind (messes, scribbles, and in this case stickers) eventually fade away as they grow older and you're left with the memories stored in what hasn't been erased....
im not verbalizing it very well but catch my drift?

I love Scout ending up as a single parent with a bunch of kids. He's his mom. He's literally just become his mom. And Spy is there, making up for lost time, because he wasn't there for Scout back in the day.

Spy probably still hasn't told Scout that he's his father. He probably never will. But Scout wants him in his life. They're finally a family.
+ Spy with the portrait of Scout's mother

This is a gift of pure fluff for @whateversawesome, inspired by her wonderful Twiyor fanfics.
Thank you for being a good friend and beta to me for a whole long year, my pal 🤗 I hope our friendship will continue for as long as possible in the future too.

the mortifying ordeal of being known
--
I think with Yor being so perceptive, she picks up on little things often (like we saw in ch 103). i believe this would impact loid more so than the usual person, because he is a spy and fakes every part of himself, so to be seen is simultaneously desirable and horrifying. like, it makes him torn between wanting to accept and reciprocate the love, or distancing himself so that it doesn't happen again.
thats mostly what the last panel is about, that dichotomy between 'omg this person noticed this about me, is this love' and 'oh shit this person noticed this about me, is this Doom'
just some thoughts i had🤪
