3-4pm. given that the soft wind running around the area disturbing the wind chimes hanging by the window, it was clearly the less busy time slot of the day. seungkwan stood by the counter, wiping wet coffee cups dry with a small napkin. he pursed his lips together as he knew it’ll be another hour or so until the infamous coffee shop becomes full of students. it was closer to the dorms and the university anyway.

he was wrong this time, it took less than thirty minutes until the shop slowly filled with stressed students looking for time to spare and chill with coffee and snacks. finally, he muttered. students loved seungkwan, being known as the friendly and extroverted barista. he took the compliments but he knew he wasn’t any of those when he saw you by the entrance.

he stood there frozen, breath taken away seeing you entering the shop with earphones in one ear. he always thought you were so, so beautiful; especially how your dyed long hair complimented how the sun kissed your skin, giving you a glow that made his ears red.

seokmin and joshua noticed how astonished the younger boy was looking at you, and decided to have a little fun teasing him.

“someone’s in love.” seokmin started, grabbing his attention.

“shut up hyung.” seungkwan timidly looked down, while joshua added that the he should at least talk to you for once. “i can’t. my thoughts keeps getting tangled whenever i see her and-“

he was interrupted when you came up to the counter, taking off that one earphone on your ear. “hi seungkwan, i’d like to have a hazelnut latte and an egg tart to go, please.” you smiled at him, noticing him staring at your eyes that you averted you gaze.

was he always this handsome?

“i-it’s on the house today..” he smiled a bit, making the older two peek out from the kitchen, smiling evilish grins.

“oh, um, thank you.” you blushed. this wasn’t a first, that any guy treated you. but why did you feel butterflies scrambling in your stomach when seungkwan offered?

ah it’s because you liked him, a lot.

“no biggie.” he handed you a napkin and a fork. “i’ve been wanting to do that actually.”

“gesture accepted.” you waved the fork, putting your wallet away.

no matter how much he denied his big crush on you, he always found himself falling for you. like you’d always sweep him off his feet. as you received your cup of latte, you spotted his phone number written on it. you looked back and he gave you wink, making you blush and smile.

it was the start of something new.
