"We don't have anything to talk about anymore. Every combination of words have been played out. The atoms don't form us anymore. Our love..."

lads it is mostly my fault (was sick, didn't tell healthcare until it was Dire, was sentenced to bed rest for the rest of my time at camp) that I literally can't say goodbye to these 100+ people I've come to love properly before I leave. I'm not permitted to participate in any singing, dancing, communal joy, any event that's remotely fun (that's nearly word for word what they said) here at camp. and I'm leaving EARLY, am still miserably sick, and have a four hour commute back home on top of that, because there's no one available to drive. literally cried my eyes out over everything just now and am This Close to crying my eyes out againnnnn

Ranking Novels about My Best Friend, Peggy Shippen
1. The Colour of The Times by Forrest Bachner
THE Peggy Shippen novel. I read this in one day and if committing treason against General Washington means I could read it for the first time again, say goodbye to West Point. I love everything about this. I love the research that went into it. I love the author’s style. I love the attention to detail. I love the way the historical figures involved are portrayed. I laughed. I screamed. I cried! Tench Tilghman shows up within the first five pages. READ IT.
2. The Traitor’s Wife by Allison Pataki
Not as accurate as the first one (the author’s knowledge of historical fashion leaves something to be desired) but by god, is this fun. Super fast paced! I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed both Peggy’s bitchiness and the pov character with her secondary romance. Features a heroine who is lower class which is always interesting to read about in this time period. Most memorable scene, though, is Andre and Peggy making out. It’s hot. Is Andre a player? Yes, but he’s so good at it. I recommend this!
3. Finishing Becca by Ann Rinaldi
The second Peggy novel told through the eyes of her lady’s maid/servant. (In fact, all of these novels feature the POV of her lady’s maid. Probably because she is closest to her, which makes sense.) This is a middle grade/YA novel but I enjoyed the writing style and this author has a ton of other revolution novels I definitely want to pick up. I found the ending of this one a bit abrupt and didn’t leave up to the dramatic potential of the other two on this list. If you like Peggy, though, you’ll probably like this.

The Spring of Sapphic Satisfaction (2023) by VBL (me)
This is a rewrite in the form of a comic strip of Radclyffe Hall's The Well of Loneliness (1928). Her novel was about the butch lesbian heroine, Stephen Gordon. The ending is really sad so I wanted to rewrite the story so Stephen got another girlfriend who stays with her. Pipah was a character who came to me to fix that.
There's a glare on the last panel because it's already framed for an art show that they do in my local community.
The mediums are pen, ink and colored pencil. I hand drew/wrote it.
