Wanted to do a random character design so I brought back the classic Spotify adventurer generator which happened to give me something that worked really well with this text post. Her name’s Melonon “Melon” Thinae, she’d best be described as somewhere between a small quivering dog and a leaf barely holding onto a branch in a light wind, and I love her so much.

I’m so glad you asked tehehe dndads is short for Dungeons and Daddies! It’s a comedy DnD podcast about the relationship between parent and child. It currently has two seasons, the second one is ongoing right now.

SEASON ONE!! Also refereed to as dndads odyssey, is about four modern day suburban dads who get transported to the fantasy world of DnD and have to go on a quest so save their sons.

It’s a RIOT- the first episode is a perfect hook. Like genuinely, if you enjoy the humor of the first ep the rest of season is exactly like that. It can get pretty emotional at times in the later episodes, there’s strong themes of generational trauma in this podcast, but the cast are incredibly good at balancing the comedy and the emotional scenes. There’s 69 episodes (LMAO) and it’s complete! The ending ties directly into the next season.

SEASON TWO!! Also known as dndads quest or dndads pussywagon depending on who you ask. This season follows the four teen grandkids of the odyssey dads as they deal with the aftermath of season one.

Season 2 is definitely a little darker, there’s a bit of a eldritch horror undertone to it, but the humor from season one still carries over! The teens are very endearing and complex characters, and the cast doesn’t shy away from giving their characters tangible flaws and letting them make mistakes. The teens are some of the most accurate fictional teens I’ve seen in a WHILE.

Don’t worry about not knowing anything about DnD- the cast plays VERY fast and loose with the rules so all you really need to know is that hey roll dice to make things happen. These guys are out here adding friendship bonuses to rolls and fighting vampires with magic fanny packs.

You should be able to find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and literally anywhere else you usually find podcast stuff. It’s genuinely sooooo fun and the tumblr community is AMAZING. I really hope you give it a try !! ^-^

tuesday again 7/11/23, timezone change edition

the last time i wrote one of these things, i was not quite fully packed up in ma. now, i am technically temporarily homeless in houston, bc the apartment i originally signed on was completely unlivable. crashing in an acquaintance's guest room for a bit while i have a very bad time with apartment hunting round 2

i have lived in south florida, staten island, and various shithole student housing. i understand seasonal bugs in hot places and things such as different kinds of roaches and palmetto bugs. when i say that apartment had the worst roach infestation i've ever seen i fucking mean it. in theory i will get my full deposits back, but they're taking their sweet fucking time about it.

but having that full yes-i-know-about-seasonal-roaches conversation with new acquaintances and leasing agents takes too long so i've resorted to saying it had a horrific bedbug problem, which everyone seems to go Oh Okay Yeah Reasonable For You To Leave much more quickly.

a lot of early aughts dance pop standards, to chase away the agonies as i drive to and from apartments only to get ghosted, find they were rented a week ago, or find that they look absolutely nothing like the pictures. i was really torn on which britney song to pick for this week until my sister sent me Twin Flame by Maude Latour, which i can only describe as "douchebag get the girl back song but for lesbians". spotify

also how do we like the "featured link from bandcamp or soundcloud with additional spotify link" format? in an ideal world i would buy all my music directly from the artists but realistically i use spotify 90% of the time. i don't know what your life is like, tell me if this is helpful or not.

my best friend made sad faces at me until i read The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary, and it was a little nice to see someone else's dire housing situation get resolved neatly and with thematic consistence in several hundred pages. it was also nice to text her snippets with "WHAT?????" every so often. this is a reading experience i don't have very often bc our current reading tastes don't overlap even a little bit.

i don't have much to say about it bc i didn't have particularly strong feelings and don't really read mainstream straight romance, so i can't point out what this did differently or well compared to its peers. if nothing else, it was a fluffy bit of distraction, and i think that's kind of the point?

(image from Tor) also read Saad Z. Hossein's Kundo Wakes Up novella in a waffle house while eating some of the best scrambled eggs i've ever had in my life.

while The Gurkha and the Lord of Thursday novella (TREMENDOUS) and Cyber Mage book (fun but with some dire pacing issues) are fairly standalone, i cannot imagine you'd get much out of Kundo Wakes Up if you haven't read the other two. for some reason none of the libraries i have access to have his other book Djinn City, so we'll have to procure that elsewhere.

the dnd movie, the day after i broke my lease on the roach apartment. i don't remember a ton about this movie. do generally like a heist. michelle rodriguez was hot

genshin. listen. it is a free and familiar way to turn my brain off by doing open world exploration and puzzles but CRUCIALLY! most of it is completely new to me. i have not played this game in a year and a half. i have not played this game since right before enkanomiya. there was no chasm. there was no Sumeru. i have absolutely no idea what’s happening lore-wise.

i pulled for the fancy ice claymore lady and got a catboy archer (at least i think it is a catboy? the ears do give a pharaoh hound vibe... he is distinct from the extant dogboy archer). not terrible but not my vibe.

i have been enjoying the shit out of the temporary summer event carnival space. they really did pull out several stops by introducing a ton of genuinely interesting and innovating little new mechanics and mini games. delightful!

What is Yes Yay Roleplay?

Hello there friends, foes, and fey! Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Yes Yay Roleplay, the hottest new actual play table top roleplaying game channel. The six of us are all improv actors who met at the same contract doing immersive improv theatre. Naturally, a dnd campaign started up and we quickly realized we had something special. Between a dynamic chemistry with our players, a fresh homebrewed world, and a prolific artist amongst the players, we had the perfect ingredients to start our own dnd show! Inspired by shows such as Critical Role and Dimension 20, we strive to bring the magic we found in our first home game to your screen.

So, we got to work. Pulling all the connections we had, we found an incredibly affordable studio and started making plans. Our friends at Midnight Syndicate even offered to let us use their music for the show. A huge win for us, especially since they wrote the official Dungeons and Dragons Roleplaying Soundtrack.

We filmed our first campaign "Chronicles of Chromaria" in early 2022 and released it a few months later. A 16 episode campaign with a dynamic editing style was an extremely venturous undertaking. We had no small share of issues between missing footage, low mic quality, and a general lack of know-how. Can you believe we thought ONE person would be able to edit the entire thing? But we are quick learners. We reworked our strategy, spread the work load, and began to pump out the episodes every week.

And we did... and more. Every episode came out on time (mostly). But not just the episodes. Music. Art. Guest cameos. We were putting out so much good content that really set us above and beyond the average actual play show.

So what then? We keep going right? But we weren't all working in the same place anymore. We didn't have access to the studio until next year. So we did what any resourceful group of actors would do, we bought some webcams and got to filming.

We filmed a couple of holiday themed campaigns in our living rooms. While we working with less equipment and space, it did let us film with guest stars. Something we hope to continue in the future.

Then we had to start thinking about this year. We had the studio, we had experience, and we had a plan. 8 days in the studio, four campaigns, and 25 episodes in total. That's 20 player characters, and countless NPCs for our artist to draw. Hours of prep for those dm-ing. Thousands of hours editing. And on top of that, we put out an album. Expanded our show from YouTube to Spotify. Opened a merch store. All while running and managing our own social media accounts.

As of right now, we've launched our Star Wars 5e campaign so far and just released episode 3 of our 16 episode arc 'The Rivers of Else'. We're in the thick of editing and promoting. Sometimes it feels like we are yelling into the void, but all it takes is a comment from a friend or a fan sharing the joy the found in the smallest moment in our show that reminds us why we did this in the first place.

We had a dream, one of us asked 'Yes?' and we all said 'Yay!'

🍄 - How did you get your system name?

Okay so technically a friend of ours thought of it.

But:

We've since extrapolated meaning from it that I will now share with you all.

For a little context: we grew up with musical theatre. We were majoring in it at university. And singing has always been important in our life. So in a general sense, we knew it had to be something surrounding that. Anyway,

I can't find it but we wrote a whole thing once about how

the concept of a songbook is a collection of a performer's go-to songs for auditions and such, and how some they may know much better than others, but they're all meaningful in some way to the performer, and each song helps showcase a different aspect of that person's abilities, and shows what they value and the versatility of the person. A performer will often take out old songs that no longer fit or serve them, and add new songs that they've only recently learned, but every song was once a part of the book. And I feel the same way about our system. We're all songs in the Songbook, and some of us are very new, and some of us have seen our worst and best moments. But we're all part of the same book, and we're all important for our own reasons.

That, and we've actually met and/or gotten to know a lot of headmates through singing.

While we were at school, we used to lock ourself in a practice room in the music building and do karaoke by ourself.

Specific songs had meaning/hit hard for some headmates, who would either have picked the song for that purpose, or have come to front during the song without even realizing. It's such a surreal experience.

Yes! Several! That number actually used to be much higher.

We've got a couple vampires, a couple werewolves, a couple introjects of dnd/LARP characters that are very unique (mostly elves but also some more obscure races). Uuummm... We have various magic users? Not sure if that counts... Some fae-adjacent people. A couple pure animals (A cat, a wolf, and a bird), a demon, a couple Time Lords, aaaaand whatever the hell Yakko Warner is.

Also! We made a Google Slide Presentation about each of the headmates our friends were likely to meet!

Each headmate has 4 slides.

An Introductory Slide, containing basic information like name/pronouns as well as a little blurb about who they are/what they're like, and other info like system role, indicators when fronting, and likes and dislikes (sometimes containing positive/negative triggers).

A "faceclaim" Slide (we don't usually use the word faceclaim), which is covered in mostly Picrews or personal art of the headmate, to get a sense of what they look like.

An Aesthetics Slide, compiling a lot of stuff from their Pinterest board if they have one. Outfits and aesthetics indicative of their color pallete, Pinterest quotes, things of that nature.

Aaand a Miscellaneous Slide! Most of these are just a bunch of tumblr posts that "fit the vibe". Also other various memes, or pics dreamed "not sophisticated enough" for the Aesthetics Slide.

Another key feature of these slides is that everyone's slides are their favorite color, and the Introductory Slide is typed out in a font that either matches their vibes or is similar to their handwriting.

Hunter is my first DnD character that I have created for an on-going campaign I am playing in with a group of friends. He is an Avariel Ranger who has a golden scar on his left wing, near the base. He speaks his mind, although is relatively quiet. Especially compared to some of the other party members he is traveling with.

Hunter grew up in a village that resided in the mountains. It was tough terrain, but the avariels that lived in the village dealt with it well as their wings allowed them to navigate the landscape with ease. The village was very community driven and everyone knew everyone else within the village. It was a kind community where it could be said that the village as a whole helped to raise the children, not just the parents. Hunter was never as social as the other avariels his age, preferring to play by himself as a child, and later growing up to prefer taking solo shifts when he joined the village guard. He tried to get better at socializing as he grew up, but from a young age he found it hard to connect with his peers and often stuck to himself most of the time, but had made one very close friendship with another child his age called Mika and the two quickly grew inseparable.

As he aged and grew up into a young adult, he had become a bit more social and had made a few more friends within his village, but was still pretty quiet and often needed time alone to recharge his social battery. One day, a new Avariel had come to the village and was welcomed in by the community as they chose to settle down and live there. He was soon approached by the newcomer and they introduced themself to him as Eldrin, and they soon began flirting with him and asked him out on a date. Hunter, although reluctant at first from being shy and not used to this type of attention, agreed to try it out and go on a date. One date turned into several more until they officially became partners, and Hunter was very happy. However -over time- Eldrin become a lot more critical towards Hunter, putting him down and slowly becoming more and more abusive towards him. In hindsight, Hunter knew this was wrong, but figured he was just as bad as he would argue back with Eldrin, causing the two to fight often. Despite this, Hunter and Eldrin stayed in this toxic relationship for a while, with Eldrin being nice again after every fight,making Hunter feel guilty for secretly wanting to break up with them.

It was almost three years later when a large green dragon attacked the village one day, the dragon eating as Avariels it could find as the guard force tried to fend it off. But with just a small village's worth of supplies against a huge, hungry dragon, it was no use and soldiers were picked off one by one. One such victim was Hunter's father, Caleb, who was fatally injured and dying as Hunter rushed over to his fathers side. With his dying breath, Caleb gave his bow to Hunter, which was a family heirloom, and begged Hunter to escape the village and stay alive. Hunter's mother, Ester, soon found them and tried healing her husband but it was too late as Caleb died, leaving Hunter and Ester to grieve together. Their grieving was cut short as the dragon soon caught sight of the vulnerable family and lurched to eat the three of them, when Ester shoved Hunter out of the way of the attack out of instinct to protect her son, leaving Hunter to stare in horror as his mother and father were eaten by the dragon.

Just after that, Eldrin appeared behind him, taunting him as they revealed this was their plan the whole time. Hunter then moved to attack Eldrin, overcome with anger as he learnt they were responsible for this the whole time. The two fought and although they were normally evenly matched in strange, the strain Hunter wasunder, physically and mentally, took its toll on him as he soon become worn out, allowing for Eldrin to take advantage of that weakness, pinning him to the ground and hacking off his left wing with their dagger to stop him from messing with their plans any longer. Hunter had managed to gather enough strength to kick Eldrin off of him, but it was too late as his wing was completely torn off from the force of it as his wing had only been hanging on by a thread at that point. Hunter almost immediately passed out from the blood loss and pain, leaving Eldrin to assume he'd probably die and they took off with the green dragon after it had finished its rampage throughout Windsvale. Briefly becoming conscious again, Hunter was helpless to watch as Eldrin and the dragon flew off in the distance, presumably moving on to their next victim. After that, he had just about managed to get up and stagger his way from the ruins of his village, looking for anything he could to stop the bleeding, before he passed out again on the floor of his parents house, falling into a numb and dreamless sleep.

After that horrific day, Hunter set out to try and do anything he could to track down Eldrins location and kill them and that green dragon to make them pay for what they had done. He lived with the assumption that everyone from his village, including his childhood best friend Mika, was dead and wanted to get justice for them all. After just over a year of traveling alone, he became lost in a forest as he was more used to traveling through mountains. He eventually came across a kinda Witch Doctor Centaur who let him stay for a day to gather his strength before continuing on his journey. Perhaps it was the way the centaur worked with the magic ofnature and tended to her garden, but Hunter couldn't help but liken her to his mother, and he found himself opening up to her quickly. After telling her want had happened to his wing and how it felt painful not being able to fly free in the sky, she took him down to her basement where she for some reason had a lot of preserved body parts from all kinds of races. Arms, legs, wings, horns, tails. Almost everything. One any other normal day, Hunter would have perhaps seen the glaring red flags with all of this and left. But today, after being exhausted for months, desperate to be able to fly again and probably not being in the right frame of mind- he agreed to let her heal his wing with her magic, attaching another black wing in place of his severed wing. He was suddenly able to fly again and he couldn't be happier as he gratefully thanked the Witch Doctor for helping him.

Almost another year passed after this and Hunter was still searching for Eldrin, having not come across any leaders for a while, he soon came across a small village and crossed paths with several other adventurers, each on their own personal mission just like he was. Soon, the five of them joined up together, slowly growing closer together as they traveled and went on adventures, trying to help each other get to their own goals. Who knows. Maybe they'd be able to do things together they couldn't have dreamt of doing alone.

Two Minutes by The Amazing Devil (yt | spotify)

So funny story, I made a DND character initially based off Brainstorm and somewhere down the line he turned into Ratchet. This is on his playlist and effectively serves as one of his theme songs, and reminds me a lot of everyone’s favourite grumpy medic too. It’s one of very few songs that I’ve found that actually fits him, I think, and I definitely am gonna cut myself off here before I go into a rant analysing this song from the perspective of IDW Ratchet.

Angelica’s Room by War is Over (yt | spotify)

This one’s on here for two reasons. First of all, I’m teaching myself guitar, and this is one of the only songs I’ve managed to learn well enough that I can more or less sing and play it at the same time, which of course means I’ve listened to it about a thousand times. Secondly, it reminds me of Chromedome - it’s about growing up and changing from who you used to be, and my favourite lines in it are ‘When you look down on me/will you promise to/forget who I once was/ and know me for who I’ll be?’ and every time I hear them I think of OG Rewind and Domey in the aftermath of choosing not to forget him.

This one’s on my Scavengers playlist, and the title probably gives away who it reminds me of. What can I say? It’s a cheerful song and it makes me smile, very much so like Misfire himself.

Moscow by Autoheart (yt | spotify)

First off, Autoheart is one of my top bands (both because they have wonderful songs and because their singer is one of relatively few artists who stays reliably within my vocal range.) Moscow is on here specifically because the vibes and energy reminds me of the Lost Light crew and the reasons that I love them. Fair warning - it’s really catchy, and I take no responsibility if it gets stuck in someone’s head.

What Have You Become? by MNQN (yt | spotify)

This song is on two playlists: Soundwave’s, and a TF OC of mine who I am not yet quite self-indulgent enough to make his friend but who I nevertheless think would have been a good friend for him. The album art also matches TFP Soundwave’s colour scheme, but that’s not the point - this one is very atmospheric, Tron Legacy type vibes with a fun little added emphasis on internal mutation into something unrecognisable! :)

Conspiracy of Silence by The Swoons (yt | spotify)

Like the song above, this song is on Soundwave’s playlist and another TF OC’s playlist. (Different OC this time - the previous one was a Decepticon general, but this one is for a Neutral-ish Empurata’d ex-medic who has some... let’s call them issues.) Something about the way the song gets super dramatic and then goes quiet is just a really good vibe, I think.

Teach Me To Fight by YONAKA (yt | spotify)

Obligatory song off my Whirl playlist, hehe. Not only is this song great for blasting through headphones when I wanna feel like a badass or quiet rage, it also fits him well. The whole ‘let’s make this public, let’s take it outside’ always makes me think of him meeting Cyclonus and immediately starting a fight with him in IDW.

All Is Well (Goodbye, Goodbye) by Radical Face (yt | spotify)

This one might be cheating a little, since it’s only on a TF OC playlist and not one for a canon character, but I’m throwing it on anyway because Radical Face has some beautiful storytelling with their music and this is my favourite song of theirs. Also, some lines do remind me a little bit of Rodimus (which is fitting, given that this OC is also from Nyon). in particular: ‘So I collected all our plans and crimes/and set them all alight/ The only thing that held me to this place/ You took with you when you died/ So goodbye, goodbye’.

First Defeat by Noah Gunderson (yt | spotify)

This is partially added because Noah Gunderson is sorely underrated and I love this song, and partially because it makes me think of MiniMegs/MagsMegs in IDW. It’s a very sweet, very sad song that I think very much encapsulates the bittersweet nature of the ship for me - the fact that it’s kinda doomed from the start, but that they both care and pay attention to little things and this isn’t a fight they can win but they sure did fight it anyway - I’m gonna stop myself, before I ramble. I really like this song.

I have a couple of stories that I’m writing with OCs and characters and art and all that shit, I’ll post about them a lot.

Question: if you somehow got teleported or isekai’d to the stranger things universe, what would be the first thing(s) you would do? And also what 5 things would you bring to show the characters and stuff?

Lol for me personally would try to befriend Eddie and the hellfire club at school, and then the rest of the teens/Steve and Robin. I would also love to play dnd and do art and stuff with Will but he’s in Cali sooo a. I think I would bring the Harry Potter movies because I feel like the teens would love that, Ready Player One (movie), my Cavetown record, I would also try to convert one of my little Spotify playlists on a mixtape or record (because I heard somewhere that you could customize your own records and stuff), and lastly one of my favorite outfits.

tbh i’m definitely an 80s girl so the first thing is do is calm down from how excited i am that i actually get to experience it 😂

and with the way that i look and act i’d definitely try to make friends with the Hellfire guys, maybe get them to teach me how to play dnd and i’ll slowly start to make friends with the rest of them.

(and ofc they’d all fall in love with me because i’m so pretty and wonderful to be around 🙄)

i definitely have a few of my favorite things i’d bring back to show them 👀

firstly- blazy susan prerolls would blow their fucking minds, especially Eddie. i think he’d love that they were pink, when he smokes them it makes people do a double take as to why a guy that looks like him has a pink joint.

secondly- monster, but specifically the white pineapple one. i know that either Max or Mike would be all over it, but for very different reasons. Max would like it since it gave her more energy for when she skateboards, and she’d love knowing that they have actual skateboarding sponsors for it. Mike would like it because he thinks he would look so cool drinking it in front of other people.

third- id want to bring a season of the simpsons, but it has to be one from the late 90s/ early 2000s when they were at their best. Dustin would absolutely LOVE the simpsons, or even just adult animation in general. it’s one of my favorite cartoons so it’s something i can give him lots of trivia facts about.

fourth- Grave Encounters or House of 1000 Corpses. Jaws is my favorite movie but they already had that so i figure they’d love to see a high quality terrifying found footage movie along with a Rob Zombie staple. the corroded coffin boys would have a fit with how much they’d love them.

lastly- everything i have in my savings because i know damn well i’d be buying up clothes, cassettes and concert tickets like there was no tomorrow.

I have blender and krita downloaded. When I tried krita it just did not run well on my computer, so despite all the nice things I've heard I haven't used it.

I tend to default to facing left. I mainly do 3/4 faces.

Abel is one of my oldest characters, as he originally was created when I was in middle school prior to me utilizing him for a dnd campaign (of course, he's seen some large changes during that). A general affinity for creatures, mainly dragons, probably carries through to some extent. My previous 1920's era obsession definitely carries through, though rather than using the era itself as a setting I mainly steal the style.

Abel is my baby bastard boy, and his armor is way too fucking complicated. Malfis's revised demon design comes second I think due to how I had massive difficulties actually posing him in a way that shows the design off.

I post most finished art, though there's a significant portion of time where I had literally no socials for posting. I also don't post art to socials that I make for other people or projects (ex. artfight).

Witch Hat Atelier may have massively influenced my love of adding stuff that flows to characters (ex. long hair, scarves, capes).

Sewing, knitting, and croquet! Massive respect.

The biggest one would be a series of character designs based on the periodic table. I got to sodium before I burned out, but that project was a massive aid in my improvement and even just designing 11 characters is a decent chunk of work.

I haven't posted much online and I don't remember any comparisons really. The one that sticks out to me is a comparison to Mando. No, it is not Mando, it is just a modification on a spartan helm where the insides are stylized to be dark.

I'm really proud of the angel carving art I did. It doesn't perfectly match the look of stonework, but I think it's a cool blend of textures and I'm proud of how the shapes turned out.

What is Dndads and where do I start?

its a dnd podcast called dungeons and daddies that largely focuses on characters from the real modern world as opposed to fantasy characters!! (with exceptions of some bonus campaigns but) the first season focuses on four dads who get lost in the forgotten realms and have to get their lost kids back (: the second season is hard to synopsize without implied spoilers for season one but it focuses on their grandkids, who are teenagers (: its VERY good i am personally not a huge dnd podcast person i always tend to get bored pretty quickly but dndads genuinely hooked me really fast its really fucking funny and when it stops being just a funny show and actually gets into some really interesting themes about good fathers and bad fathers and fathers in between and generational trauma and all that it gets even better . you can start with episode one, a man and his handshake, which is on spotify and the like, but also in the websites browser!! if you do listen to it, you dont Need to listen to the bonus episodes altho some of them are pretty fun, but def listen to the free ep of at the mountains of dadness before you get Too far in season one because it does become somewhat plot relevant later . like u can live without it but itll be good to know who hildie russet is in particular

ALRIGHTY IT'S TIME FOR ME TO START BEING INSANE LET'S GO

as a note, I am doing this compare and contrast out of love and silliness because I am absolutely FERAL about both characters

First off, appearances.

As you may see, both have that puffy blue coat and that very red hair. Though you may not be able to see it, both also have brown boots and dark blue pants. And also belts. Jay has a white shirt, with ruffles going all the way down the front, that cuts off at her midriff. You can see the beginnings of that on Gem as well, though it is cut off by a light blue coat vest thing. The other contrast of note is that Gem has a bandana, while Jay has a pin in her hair.

Next are some more general mentions.

Both of them are bi, pirates (currently), and have a friend with a strange relationship with the sea. Albeit it's in entirely different ways but they're both fishmen. Who's names start with a G. And have incredibly similar backstories. I should stop THIS IS A GEM AND JAY FERIN APPRECIATION POST NOT A GILLION AND GRIAN APPRECIATION POST I'LL TALK ABOUT THEM LATER-

Anywho. They're also both played by Canadians who generally don't necessarily act like the stereotypical Canadian (as in both are incredibly violent physically and emotionally especially towards that one friend. I mean this in a fun way. Like bullying your siblings).

One place they differ is their... species? In fanon, at least, Gem is usually a deer hybrid. Or an elf. Or both. Or a monarch butterfly. Personally I like to see her as a moose at the current moment. Gem is a lot of things because Gem is great. But most commonly a deer. Jay is strictly human, from what I've seen. I mean yeah sure bird wings but she's not avian in nature. She just has wings. Another place they differ is their choice of weapon. Jay's signature weapon is some sort of pistol or revolver, and she prefers long range. Gem, however, prefers swords and melee combat. How else will she feel the glee of collecting heads?

This brings us on to the personality section. Both have marginally sized egos, albeit understated. They also have that amount of confidence inside themselves which leads them to be more headstrong or forceful in their beliefs. Both are the "logical" ones of the groups they're in but they do definitely jump headfirst into the insanity of the group, if that makes sense. Like if you see someone doing something stupid but harmless you join in.

The personality is very similar, they just have different parts amplified. Gem is moreso cheerful, whereas Jay has more, for lack of a better term, bloodlust. That is not to say that they don't both have these traits, it's just Gem is a bit more happy (sounding at least), while Jay holds a bit more hatred in her heart. Gem will murder people while giggling. Jay has daddy issues but smiles anyway.

If you wanted to oversimplify things, Gem is effectively Jay if you took away her daddy issues/if her dad was around. Jay is similar to Gem of you gave her a dad who kinda wants to kill her. But again, that's an oversimplification.
