Oh my god, poverty brain makes big purchases so freakin scary. I know I need a laptop. I will have tons of downtime at work and I can't cart my three monitor gaming PC into work on slow days. So I need a laptop. I had some help picking a really good one and it's gonna do the stuff I need. But it's still such a big chunk of money. *Sweats* I have done it. But it was hard.
Luckily it sounds like my accommodation is getting reviewed for real this time and I should have more freetime at the small store and on my days off to take commissions again! I can also resume working on my comics as I've got a tablet going spare that I can take with, so all that is very exciting.
#the prospect of having spoons to create and time to do so is alleviating some of the Big Purchase feelings#the last time I was making big money I still really struggled to buy stuff even when I needed it#and one time my beloved took me shopping for clothes and I racked up like a $500 bill because it was all way nicer than I've ever considere#and I literally couldn't pay. I was like I want these clothes and I have the money but it's so painful so my beloved took my wallet#and shooed me away and the worker was kinda laughing cause I know it was ridiculous but I was so anxious#ramblies

stopppp that post bringing me back to when my one friend used to live in my area. i remember it rly irritated me when she wouldn't let me crack the egg on the counter @ her house, like, physically prevented me from doing it and i was standing there like . 1st of all i'm not your child and you asked me to cook breakfast for us, stop acting like i'm crossing this crazy boundary -- 2nd i'm not spilling it? it's really easy to not get egg on the counter when you crack it. and worst case scenario it spills horribly (rare) . i'll clean it up?
#she made me crack it on the bowl and i got shell in bc i'm not used to using blunt objects to crack eggs ajslfdasdfkj#making me think i'm crazy for cracking eggs that way when it's incredibly common re: that tag game#that friend also prevented me from using seasoning besides salt and pepper for the meal bc 'the spice rack is only for my mom's baking'#(we were 19 at the time + the mom was on a vacation + i was fine respecting the supposed wishes of the mom but also . we can't take a half#spoon of fucking oregano from this giant jar? she'll really miss it that much?. yes my friend and her mom are blanca)

I get static shocks constantly in the winter. like 'have to be careful petting the cats or zap their ears/lil noses' level constantly. 'watch sparks move across my blankets like lightning at night when I'm just trying to get comfy in bed' level constantly.
the other day, I got off the sofa to mess with the radio station on the boombox. touched the radio. big zap. radio then would not let me change the station or even shut it off. on/off button did NOTHING. hello??
I unplugged it and plugged it back in real quick (it has like a 30-second power storage so it doesn't loose preprogrammed stations in a power surge/while moving it around) and it was fine after. but like. sorry, radio. u_u
#I'll shock anything. I'll shock my laptop. shock the spoon I was literally just holding. shock myself. ?????#I dry my clothes/towels on racks but put sheets in the dryer#and lemme tell u.#pulling them out of the dryer and separating them + the pillowcases in a dark enough room is very pretty. free lightshow.#but also ow. ow. owwie. ow.#I am afraid to use a humidifier in this house bc the walls are most likely mold ~lightly covered~ with paint. so.

Annie: So are you a big spoon or a little spoon? Faustine: I'd say I'm more like a knife. Samir: ...She's a little spoon.
Faustine: So which of you is the big spoon and which is the little spoon?
Gyo: I'm the big--
Annie: I'm the big spoon.
Gyo: *soft scoff*
Faustine: So... which is it?
Annie: ...okay, so you know that bit in anime where like, two fighters will keep flash-stepping behind each other?
Gyo: Tch... Nothing personal, kid. *gets elbowed by Annie*
#guillannie#faumir#when being the big spoon means tiddy in your hand and you both have amazing racks... competition gets fierce

i’m a hopeless romantic but not in the way that i melt when people do romantic things for me, more so that i see love in every single little corner of the world
#there’s love in the silent tick of the grandfather clock resting in my grandparents’ garage#in the neatly ordered spoons in the top rack of the dishwasher#in sunshine streaming in through lace curtains#in the feel of the fabric against my skin#and i say that love is in all of these things because someone chose all of it#the grandfather clock is being saved until one day i have my own home and i can take it#the spoons are put that way so that they’re easier to put away#the curtains were picked out at the store some thirty years ago because someone thought they were beautiful#the fabric rubs against my skin because i liked it enough to want to take it home#love is stored in the most mundane decisions that we make every day

ugh I don't have sinus pills. I'd even settle for the ones that make me feel kind of ill sometimes on an empty stomach (for no readily apparent reason, either) over nothing, but we don't have any, and we cannot afford them, either.
#also my house shoes are starting to smell like farts but I don't have any other pair that hasn't fallen too far apart#if I had a rotation they could be washed in batches and more often... I'd need a shoe rack tho. I need a lot of things ig.#should probably get rid of the old chairs in my room; I don't use the one anymore and the other was specifically for lilith#which. she's not around anymore. honestly I have mixed feelings about the idea#her little chair that she loved so much is falling apart a little tho; and banjo has showed no interest in it anyways#the other chair that used to be my TV chair is just. Nasty. it Old#and also kind of low to the ground. I'm not as young as I used to be and that shit is kind of rough on the knees#comfortable for a time tho... tho I liked it better with the old body pillow in it for padding#we got rid of That ages ago tho lol#ugh I need to wash my glasses today too if nothing else... supposed to wash my me today as well but idk that I have enough spoons for that#again today. yesterday was rough. and it's probably BECAUSE I take too long gaps between them...#I'm just super low energy tho; and prefer to do things Correctly to boot#I really want my own shower. I probably would clean it out if I had one#bc I could do it however I like as long as I got it done and she couldn't bitch at me for it bc it'd be Mine. need my own bathroom#got a lot of Stuff that'd be easier to manage if I had my own bathroom. plus we only have one shower + toilet rn#and the counter of that sink barely counts as one at all#ahhhh....... today is rough for some reason#maybe it's bc there's almost a ten degree difference in temperature between today and yesterday#and it was curiously warm inside yesterday too; in spite of being comparatively cool outside. it sucked.

My dads not back meaning I have to put away the dishes which means I can put them away correctly for once
#i never say or do anything about it cuz i dont WANT to do the dishes#but he never puts the plates or silverware away right#the plates have lines on them#he never matches up the directions of the lines and it drives me crazy#also he mixes up the forks#and the spoons#we have large forks from a different set that dont match the rest of our silverware#and small spoons also from a different unmatching set#and the handles of both are slightly slimmer than the ones on the full silverware set#so i put them on top of the old ones#also i like the new ones better#but my dad just jumbles the old and new ones all together#also he doesnt check to make sure things are actually clean before putting them away and sometimes they get gunk stuck to them#and i dont like having to rewash a bowl when i need it#thats probably the most annoying thing tbh#like the plates dont NEED to match up i would just prefer if they did#but man check to make sure theres nothing stuck to the inside of the cups#sometimes shit from the bottom rack gets washed up into the cups and gets stuck in there#you gotta check them

Olympic Chocolate Muffins! (since the recipe is paywalled on WaPo)
Cool the muffins and ganache completely before assembly, about 30-40 minutes
Makes 12 muffins
Muffin Ingredients:
¾ cup (180 ml) whole or reduced fat milk
¼ cup (60 ml) water
2 teaspoons instant coffee powder
½ cup (50 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder
4 tablespoons (56 grams) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
½ cup + 1/3 cup (145 total grams) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chunks
2 cups (250 grams) AP flour
1 tablespoon baking powser
¼ teaspoon fine salt
½ cup (110 grams) packed dark brown sugar
½ cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
¼ cup (60 ml) neutral oil
2 large eggs, room temp
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup (60 grams) chopped milk chocolate, plus more for topping
Ganache Ingredients:
2/3 cup (115 grams) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chunks
½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
1/8 teaspoon fine salt
Directions
Position rack in the middle of the oven, preheat 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a regular sized muffin pan with liners.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, water, and instant coffee. Bring to a simmer, whisking occasionally.
Add cocoa powder and whisk.
Decrease heat to low, add ½ cup (85 grams) of the chocolate chunks and butter, whisk until melted and smooth.
Transfer to a large bowl and cool slightly
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
To chocolate mixture, whisk in brown sugar, granulated sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
Add about 1/3 of the flour mixture, whisk until incorporated
Add remaining flour, folding with a spatula until no streaks remain.
Fold in remaining 1/3 cup (60 grams) chocolate chunks and chopped milk chocolate, until just combined. Do not overmix.
Using a ¼ cup scoop or measuring cup, divide batter among 12 muffin cups, filling to the top of the pan.
Sprinkle additional chocolate chunks on top.
Transfer pan to oven, and immediately reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bake for 22-24 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Start on ganache now
Let muffins cool in pan for 10 minutes, then use a knife or piping tip to cut an approximately ¾ inch wide hole in the center of each muffin. (use the centers as ice cream topping or eat now!)
Let muffins cool completely.
GANACHE: in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine chocolate chunks, heavy cream, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
Once muffins and ganache are completely cool, spoon or pipe ganache into the center of the muffin, until slightly overflowed. Serve immediately.
