Nervous Bleeding in my Brain ~ Poetry
Tumblr media
My Dr. told me I had a nervous bleeding in my brain
The judge told me I was criminally insane
I knew some of my crazy was from the cocaine
See I’ve had my lover tied up in the basement for, only God knows when
I looked at him and said…
YOU WILL STAY WITH ME AND YOU’LL STAY UNTIL THE VERY END
~~~
Crying clowns and morbid sounds
Crows above
And blood filled tubs
Mask and cutting glass
Black moons and poison mushrooms
Empty rooms filled with witches brooms
A jackals tale seeing acid trails
A dirty deed planted with demonic seeds
A haunted trust with piercing thrusts
Gagged with rags and gasoline bags
Heart melting eyes singing cryptic lullabies
Tormented mimes with twisted spines
Sickening rhymes with catholic chimes
A fantasy reversed with a witches curse
A dog moon with hidden rooms
A serpent’s tail stuffed with human cells
A joker’s laugh after its evil craft
A rotten kiss with blood filled lips
An evil moon staring at us from the basements tomb
I bound his mouth with tape
I looked around him things starting to take shape
Shift shaper and hate makers whisper in my ear
I stopped taking my meds and things don’t seem real clear
I rub my eyes trying hard to stay awake
My body trembled and my hands began to shake
My Dr. told me I had a nervous bleeding in my brain
The judge told me I was criminally insane
I knew some of my crazy was from the cocaine
See I’ve had my lover tied up in the basement for, only God knows when
I looked at him and said…
~~~
YOU WILL STAY WITH ME AND YOU’LL STAY UNTIL THE VERY END

NaPoWriMo Vol. 3, 17.29.24 “TTPD"
If these are the best word’s you’ve got Then I’m tortured already Playing at The Prince Words locked like arms of an Albatross Fearful of the fans, the waves below Anything but self-effacing - planet erasing As deadly in deed and word as a mercurial agent Traveling just as fast on wings –unshared– All true ism’s are worn in the summer cardigan Watched by the world through zealot’s eyes Antithetical to art, start a clandestine cooperation Would be safe, if not profitable A prophet must make profit There can be no elegy, for prophets never die Never lie Never slow Were these piercing words like needles Threading through me thoroughly What a farcical cult, leader, won’t bleed or Lay seeds for the world to bloom If this is the leader, then the world is doomed

#*beep* oh. hey. guess you're sleeping? maybe you're at work. or out with friends. i hope wherever you are it's good#or that it's getting better. i really do#i'm not good. but you knew that already. otherwise why would i be leaving this message?#sorry. i just need to talk for a bit i guess#cause it's like. every day i write a hundred posts and every day i delete most if not all of them#and i could not tell you why#this is my blog after all. my words and thoughts go here#but also. this is my third place. and i can't lose that#isn't that crazy? i can't lose the handful of notes from reblogging other people's posts#the idea that somehow i'm constructing myself in the cut and paste instead of doing something myself#and i do try to make posts of my own. but nothing's ever worth posting. i don't even let it rot in the drafts. it's just gone#and i try to think about what would stop me from doing this#which inevitably brought me here - what would i be doing if it were fifty years ago#and i think the answer is i'd be calling someone who used to care and blowing up their answering machine#and i think about old answering machines. the ones that need a tape to record the message#does dora just re-record over the tapes that harry fills?#does she trash them? i'm guessing she doesn't listen to them#i won't tell you what to do with this message. i'll spare you a call to action#it's not like a diary would fix this. i have a diary. i've been keeping one regularly for months now#i think i want to be perceived but i refuse to speak unless spoken to and i will not reach out on here unless i'm being a kindly anon#and when i talk irl it's all broken disjointed subjects without predicates#it takes such effort for me to talk that people stop asking me out of kindness. but there's still thoughts i haven't said#thoughts that don't need to be said. we don't *need* another person rambling on about whatever random fandom topic or half-assed scribbles#i tried making serious art and meta posts for like four years across different fandoms#it's all gone now. as is most of my poetry. lotta things i don't know or care to know#and i can't bring myself to do that again. esp if that's not why you're here. so like. it's easier just to remain quiet?#because. i know people *can* understand. but it takes effort#and i can't guarantee a return on investment. i don't know if the cost of teaching me how to talk again is worth it#god i want to infodump but that was beaten out of me. the need is still there but i can't. it hurts#idk. things are good and then things are bad and on the whole they're good and getting better

I’m nodding off so badly—this spoken word is Hellish to exit for this poem—but I will get it out here. It will come!
It has come!!! 2-3 days later it is here!!

i'm planning next week's picnic like if one thing goes wrong i'll be publicly beheaded. i'm locked in to such an absurd degree.
#also never shopping in my nearest town again maybe#i saw my cousin's ex who lives an hour away and her friend together which is so....... like wow i really thought i'd seen the last of him#very messy situation#started talking to a cashier/stocker i've spoken with on occasion for several years and she showed me some of her art & poetry (???)#got in line in front of one of my former classmate's dads who tried to proposition me right after my mom died#went to the new dollar store which has four self checkouts & one manned‚ tried to use a self checkout and the cashier said#'we don't have self checkouts' i said 'do you mean today or period' she said 'period' and we discussed how badly that's got them fucked up#they're literally running one of the self checkouts as a manned checkout when things get busy like...#and it was JUST built!! like just less than a year ago i think#i always come home from that town wanting to pull my hair out it's sooo strange!! like everything is craaazy#i also got fucking scammed!#i forgot to check until just now but the grocery store likes to run a weekly sale then not update the computers to reflect it#like they've done this for years and years#and i paid $1.99/lb for apples that were marked down to $1.12/lb so i overpaid a damn dollar#during the panini when it was my only source of groceries sometimes the difference would literally be like $50 because of big ticket items#i'd usually walk out‚ unload and read the receipt‚ then walk back in and get my refund. every friday.#and if i didn't i'd be out like $100/month for nothing on top of everything costing double what it did in the city#that place is fucking cursed. like there's just layers and layers of misery covering every surface.#adam yaps

Women of the Present
We live in an era where society continues to hold women to such a different standard and point of view lower than the other gender. Whispers of disbelief echo loudly with stereotypes and continue to give limitations to the power they have. The thought of women in the past whose cries for help were ignored and whose ideas were disregarded lingers. Women have been told, “You are just a woman” countless times, and today, that perspective must be changed.
On the moment a little girl takes their first breath to a woman who was taught to stand tall, women have been confined to narrow boundaries and limited opportunities, unable to showcase their true potential. Yet, time and again, despite the challenges they face simply for being women, their resiliency and strength go beyond, freeing themselves from harsh words and discrimination to preserve future generations' inclusivity.
Moreover, women, without a doubt, persistently excel in different fields usually dominated by men, proving that gender is not a hindrance to success. Throughout the years, the Philippine Military Academy has allowed females to perform combat duties. Building companies inside and outside the country are now hiring female construction workers. As a regular passenger, you will witness women driving jeepneys, tricycles, and even trucks! There are also numerous female topnotchers in every Philippine Licensure Examination. In the Senate, some empowering women, both past and current, have been chosen to lead by example and represent and govern fellow Filipinos. Unlike in the past, women today can have education, vote, run for office, and serve as leaders. Women can now amplify their voices and be recognized for their abilities.
Exceptionally, women proved they could be doctors, too. In sports, women showed the nation that no amount of weight can weigh a woman down. In the arts, they are our country’s legacy for creating art using local materials. In the entertainment industry, women keep making waves by showcasing the unmatched talent of Filipino women. Filipino women have made multiple contributions to the humanities, arts, business, and academics, among other fields, paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries. Indeed, women are the backbone of society. Their determination and indomitable spirit hold the society together. Women are here, there, and everywhere. Despite the obstacles they faced before, women continue to break through stereotypes with every step they take.
Notably, as the nation celebrates the 2024 National Women's Month with the theme "Lipunang Patas Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!" let us honor and respect every Filipino woman for their contributions to our nation's progress while also reaffirming our commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality. The government must continue to give support by training women for jobs traditionally done by men to enhance their skills further. These women continue to leave an indelible mark on society and have been catalysts for social transformation. Their tenacity continues to serve as a beacon of hope. May every citizen strive for a society where women are valued, respected, and allowed to succeed. As one, let's acknowledge women's boundless abilities, shaping a bright future that embraces all—for the fate of women lies within the hands of every woman in the present.

I wrote this essay as my entry in the recent online essay writing contest organized by our municipality's gender and development committee in celebration of International Women's Day, which placed second in the English category.
Thank you to everyone who extended their support, especially to my family & friends. My sincerest thanks to my parents for checking my essay before I submit them, and to Montalban GAD for organizing this writing event. Happy Literature Month and long live to all the women of the present and future!

Good.
If the rose withers,
Fine.
It's not on you

It's on you

Staggered Correspondence
An email is received, Then languishes in an inbox that has not been opened in years. Months pass before it is opened on a whim And treasure spills forth from chapped lips. Whispered secrets are lost no more, And a slow bird finally finds its way home from its annual migration. A response is sent, After seasons have danced drunk and swapped partners, Better late than never.

sweet mystery of love
airy condos Seems it’s actually snowing in February here in Toronto – can we blame global warming? It has been a fairly productive week – tweaked graphics for the Brown Betty show at the end of the month. Picked a couple of new pieces to add to the mix. Working on this month’s “Bradbury” – found out in January writing a story a week wasn’t going to happen, so settled for writing one a month…

Reflecting on a Profound Moment...
Last night was ✨phenomenal✨—a joyous celebration of my book launch, filled with love, inspiration, and cherished memories. Today, I reflect on another monumental moment—one year ago.
Benjamin Obadiah Iqbal Zephaniah 🕊️
'The day I submitted my debut poetry book coincided with the day you departed. The week before, I had re-visited your enchanting creations and reminisced about your visit to my junior school.
The reverberations of your performances and reading your words from "Talking Turkeys" opened my eyes as an impressionable child, and inspired me. Just like countless others you influenced, you helped fuel my passion for sharing and performing poetry.
Your departure was heart-wrenching, but your impactful life and boundless legacy endure.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Rest in peace.'

Seeing MARVA ROLLINS, my former headteacher who introduced us to Professor Zephaniah, at my book launch last night was such a full-circle moment. My heart overflows. ❤️
Thank you @wordsofcolour for giving me the space to honour his enduring impact on wordsofcolour.co.uk.💫
