The hero has never had too many problems concealing their identity. The agency took great care to arrange their schedule around the people in their life – how they did that they’ll never know, but it’s managed to keep questions and suspicion to a minimum. The lack of worry about anyone finding out about them means more room to think about their job.

Their hero job, at least. The agency picked them up when they were five months deep into a job at the local grocery store, and to keep up appearances they’d suggested the hero keep their old job and take up the hero work part time. It’s fine for the most part, until the agency thinks it a good idea to let them go to work at the shop all day, only to do several more hours with the other heroes at the end of that, well into the evening.

Today is one of those days. The agency finally lets them out at two in the morning, and they do the maths on their hands as they say goodbye to the receptionist by the main doors. They started at the store at ten this morning, a thoughtful half hour break thrown in, and they had an hour after leaving before they had to come here. Their day has been going for almost sixteen straight hours.

They can feel every single hour weighing down on them as they throw their car door open, getting in with an exhausted sigh. They couldn’t even be bothered to take their outfit off at the end of the day, and they scowl in annoyance as the tightness somehow makes sitting even more uncomfortable than their usual fighting.

The roads are near silent at this time, and their street appearing on the horizon is a much needed relief. The hero lets themself into the house as quietly as possible – they assume their roommate is probably asleep by now, and they’d feel bad waking them. They’ve had a lot of early starts recently, and their bedtime has been slinking earlier and earlier into the evening.

They drop their bag on the floor as quietly as they can manage, fully prepared to just sleep the day off and worry about how bad they smell in the morning. They can’t ignore the uncomfortable grumble of their stomach though, so they take a detour to the kitchen to grab a snack before they pass out for the night.

The kitchen light is already on, the extractor humming quietly. The hero frowns as they reach the threshold, any plans they had to eat eradicated at the sight before them.

A pan is sitting on the stove, steam billowing out the top as the water inside bubbles ferociously. Several cupboard doors are hanging open, abandoned, various contents of such sitting haphazardly on the counter below them. In the middle of it all is their nemesis, the one they’ve been hunting down in vain for days, the villain, happily rooting through their bags of food and making themself quite at home. 

As if to add insult to injury, the hero’s roommate’s dog – who the hero themself has spent hours of their life desperately trying to make like them to no avail – is cuddled up quite comfortably to the villain, sitting at their feet with his tail thumping rhythmically against the tiled floor.

The sight is so odd that common sense is not the first thing that comes to mind. “What’re you doing in my house?” the hero demands, and it’s only once they’ve said it that they realise it’s probably not good to let on that this is their most vulnerable place. Especially not when they’re living with an innocent citizen.

The villain jumps at their voice, whirling to meet them with equal amounts of confusion and surprise. “Wh–” is all that comes out momentarily. “Your house? Get the hell out of my house!”

The hero laughs humorlessly as they stalk further into the room. “I think you may be a little lost, [Villain]. You had better get out before I make you leave in pieces.”

“I’m not leaving my house for you.” The villain jabs their knife at them, the sharp side lined with multicoloured shreds of vegetables. “Come back with a goddamn warrant.”

The hero pauses at the phrase, wide-eyed. On the few occasions they’ve caught their roommate in the bathroom, they always jokingly demand the same thing when they knock on the door – “come back with a warrant!”

“[Roommate]...?” the hero asks uncertainly, and the villain’s expression morphs into disconcertion at the name.

“You don’t know me,” they spit defensively. “Where’d you get that name from?”

“You, dumbass.” The hero tsks shortly, the situation too bizarre to truly register as dangerous. “You told me. We live together, don’t we?”

“You…” The villain’s face scrunches up ever-so-slightly, the face the hero’s roommate always makes when they have to think about something. “I’ve been rooming with you? You’re a hero!”

“I could say the same thing!” the hero exclaims.

“Has… has it been like this the entire time?”

“I got picked up by the agency, like, three months ago.”

The villain’s brow dips into a frown, their gaze turning back to their food boiling in the pan. “I just wanted a snack before I headed out. I didn’t expect this.”

“And I just wanted a snack before I went to bed,” the hero adds. “If we promise not to kill each other before tomorrow, we can figure this out in the morning.”

They get a short nod in response. “I don’t have time to kill you anyway. I have to go in five and I’ll be going to bed as soon as I get back.”

“We have similar schedules,” the hero comments, and they butt past their nemesis to haul the fridge door open. “Enjoy committing felonies that I’ll have to fix in the morning.”

“Awh, I feel so bad,” is the sarcastic response they get as the villain pours the contents of the pan into a tupperware. Once the lid is on they throw the kitchen window open, pulling themself onto the windowsill with the dexterity of someone who hasn’t exercised since school. “Enjoy being boring and following the law.”

“Why’re you going out the window? We have a perfectly working front door.” The hero manages to fish out some leftovers, slamming the fridge with a tired sigh. 

“I avoid following legal laws and general laws of life,” they offer with a nonchalant shrug and a typical criminal grin. “I don’t use doors. See you tomorrow, roomie.”

The villain disappears out of the window, leaving the hero on the tail end of a sixteen hour day, holding a bowl of cold leftovers, in the company of a dog that doesn’t like them, with the newfound knowledge that they’re living with one of the city’s biggest criminals.

Great.

on the other side of the spectrum, this is pussy clenching dom beomgyu goodness and i dont think it gets better than this. the writing is so compelling it fully immerses you in the narrative, even im getting sucked in to beomgyu’s manipulation (whats new really), blaring red flags and all. its currently on hiatus though but i would catch up either way beomiracles is a pretty consistent writer, she’d probably pick it up sooner or later :)

sorry this is going to be all over the place lol but this is also still ongoing (its only two parts in) but this writer is absolutely insane. narrative feels fleshed out and though it mainly follows soobin’s perspective and feelings, i am quite enjoying it so far. it has some idol x idol action as well, not the main focus of course but it is written in detail

this ones a three parter and its completed. by the same writer mentioned previously (soobrat), very very good storytelling, keeps you on your toes and has a hold on your emotions but like mentioned, it has a bit of an extremity in the smut and it is undeniably toxic but its good

i havent read this in a while but i remember staying up all night reading all of it lol. i would probably not recommend this to people who really cant read infidelity since thats what the fic is based around but it isnt cast in a very favorable light anyway. really toxic, seriously good

SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASNT FINISHED TMA OR SEASON 1 OF TMP

it was a cold night and honestly weren't all of them? everyone was already well into their work for the night, working on cases, marking them, and sending them off, the only weird thing was...well...none of those voices Alice had affectionately named had really come up yet, maybe that wasn't too uncommon but there would at least be one going every hour and a half or so...but no...none of them, until Sam finished up one of his cases and started onto the next one was Chester, Sam seemed surprised and paused it before he could finish the first few words

"Hey Alice, Chester's back!" Sam announced with a smile earning a Excited cheer from Alice

"Ayyy! My favorite Spooky robotic voice! guess he couldn't stay away from you to long hey Sam? how does it feel having more game with a weird old text to speech then actual human beings?", Alice asked with a smug look as she leaned back in her rolling chair and Sam rolled his eyes "Ha Ha yes very funny Alice, just thought you'd be happy to hear.", Sam said with a smile as he focused back on his computer and Alice shrugged and looked back to her own work as Sam pressed the space bar again to unpause the voice and listened to the case as it droned on, near the middle though, Chester stopped reading and Sam looked back to the case

"what..?" Sam muttered as he tried to read where Chester had left off but then Chester went off script entirely. "where am I? I should be dead. he killed me. I told him to! it hurts- it hurts to think! we where supposed to be together" and after that the computer appeared to turn off entirely, Sam rolled back a bit , seeming scared and Alice looked up a bit passed the dividers

"you alright ? Case get to you again?" Alice asked as she sat straight a bit only to see Sam stammering

"the-the-the uh- the computers broken I think is all- Chester uhm- wasn't saying the case? like usual?" Sam said as he looked from Alice to the computer before seeing a hand reach out of it and he screamed "holy shit!" Alice yelled, falling out of her rolling chair as Sam got out of his chair in terror, Gwen was out, and of course their boss was in her office at the moment so, Celia was just walking in from the breakroom with a mug of coffee

"hey what's all of the - hhhhaaAA! whaaat the hell is that!?"she yelled in a panic as she dropped her mug, clearly any tiredness she felt before retrieving the coffee had completely left her due to the adrenaline rush of fear as one hand became two hands, reaching out on either sides of the computer and throwing out a man with long salt and pepper hair partially tied up and dressed like some depressed college professor in a winter jacket, he looked like he had been hit by a car but no one around seem to car what he looked like cause he just crawled out of a computer, huffing and puffing like he had been running for his life moments before! The man from the computer looked up at everyone a moment, blinking and wincing as though he was in terrible pain, and with a groan he tried to get up off his hands and knees but as he did this he only fell back down "damn it." the man said and he fell back to the floor, turning himself over to stare at the painful light of the ceiling, Alice, Sam, and Celia all looked between each other not knowing what to do or what was going on "uh- Excuse me ??Who on Earth are you?" Alice finally spoke up only for Jon to look that way and after another moment he sat up and stared "I...I'm the...I'm Jonathan Sims... "he said as though he was asked by a paramedic after a car crash. Celia looked at Alice and Sam and then in her panic, slowly backed up into the break room hoping to be forgotten in the background, Alice stared at Jon and Sam seemed flabbergasted by the name drop "you're...you're Jonathan sims?- You cant be- Jonathan sims is- he's dead!" "you know this guy!?-"Alice said quickly before being interrupted by Sam

"well no! he's!- I was- HE has been dead 20 years! I don't know who this guy is!" Sam said "I do not like being talked about like I'm not here." Jon said as he started to sit himself up and look around, he didn't feel that connection with the eye he had when he was on the ...it was gone...but somehow still there? like before the Eyepocalypse... it was an odd feeling but not as overwhelming he didn't feel like he was as powerful as before.... he felt sick... he wasn't the one reading all those cases, though it was in fact his voice spouting off story after story, so he felt tired, he felt hungry, he felt... sick. "well sorry! Man from computer- if we need to discuss amongst ourselves about a random dead man emerging from the depths of our- definitely cursed old shitty computers!" Alice retorted before watching Jon pass out to the floor as Alice and Sam both stared "shit..." "yeah..."

hii, can i just share something that amuses me both with people who are cheering lou’s supposed ‘absence’ from set, as well as those who are seemingly already mourning bucktommy..

i used to be in the shameless (us) fandom and spent so much time (literal years at one point) trying to spot noel fisher (and at a few occasions also cameron monaghan) in bts pics or videos for any hopes of their characters either getting back together or remaining together, and one thing i realised is that so much bts material just does not get shared.. i was little else but making myself feel bad without any real reason and found that its just no use. (also fun fact people kept saying noel was never going to return, yet - spoiler alert - their characters were endgame wooop)

so whats funny to me is the fact that filming for 911 has only just begun, it hasnt even been that long yet, and yet so many conclusions as to the entire upcoming season have already been drawn?

Not only that but his dreams are just so

No one would ever guess that sometimes even the calm and prideful Lucifer wakes up gasping for air, tears in the corners of his eyes

So how does he cope?

He came up with the best solution ever

and at first you like had your own room

and didnt live in his room

after centuries of having quite possibly the worst sleep schedule known to man, both to avoid having nightmares and to get his piles of work done

Was merely just so flabbergasting that he spent like two weeks STILL NOT SLEEPING just to comprehend that he was SUPPOSED to be sleeping

You were bashing your head against the wall

Crying, sobbing, throwing up

take that as seriously as you want

regardless after a while he finally started falling asleep with you!

Why? well he loves you

unfortunately for him

(also you may or may not have been on top of him because he lays there like a fucking ROCK)

He loves you so much that he made a whole sleep schedule and went

The two of you slowly swaying to the music in the darkness of his room

The twinkling of fireflies outside the window

You couldn’t take away his fears or his worries or the guilt he carried

But you could stand there with him, gently holding his hand and swaying alongside him

A reminder that maybe

Things were beginning to work out

Because if he was there with you

In this moment with you in his arms

In this universe where you loved him and he loved you

A world where you have overcome all odds

Maybe all the heartache was worth it

Maybe every horrible moment and every heart wrenching sadness lead him here

rain looks almost pained with something, furrowed eyebrows, looking down, looks like something is vaguely bothering him. chews on his lip and inner cheek all the time. swiss often tells him he looks sad

dew has a resting bitch face but its fake. his real resting face is more thoughtful, and more gentle. he doesnt like it, and prefers to try and look mean (spoiler alert it doesnt rly work)

swiss has an almost... attentive look? like you could be talking to him, thinking hes listening closely and he hasnt heard a single word. also has the habit of chewing on his lip

aether has a very calm resting face. he looks perfectly at ease, confident. hes got everything under control

mountain has the best poker face after rains, except he doesnt have to try at all. youd never guess what he was feeling just by looking at him

cirrus has a similar confidence to her expression to aether, but she holds her head hight, can actually look a little intimidating if you dont know her very well

sunshine looks curious, maybe quietly surprised, with eyebrows slightly raised. cirrus thinks she looks absolutely adorable and tells her so

cumulus has a little mischivious glint in her eye, always looks like shes planning something. she can also have a pleasent calmness to her tho

i just read a little life and here's a messy review of the book by saying my opinion on people's takes on it

i want to start off by saying that this book is like willem's movie "life after death"; either people absolutely loved it or people hated it. and i fucking love this. would i be rereading it? probably not. but would i think of jude for the rest of my days? yes.

the thing i keep reading about from the people who didnt like it is that a) it's a trauma porn, b.) it's lengthy with various of unnecessary parts, and c.) its just a sad book with a sad ending.

something that i dont really understand is people's need and urge and want to always, always read a book expecting a happy ending. ("and books lied, they made things prettier"). spoiler alert: life isnt like that! its ugly and u cant always run away from its ugliness, no matter how hard you try. no matter how hard jude tried. and i always had this hunch, when i was first reading it, that it wont end the way i'll like it, but still i hope and hope and hoped for jude and for all of them, and thats just the Human part of me. my in denial.

as someone who struggled from mental health, i actually guiltily thought in the middle of the book, "why hasnt he k!lled himself yet?" even before jude's attempt. i cant handle the thought of putting myself in his situation and pushing through, and that's the reality as well. you thought about it and yet , complying to it somehow makes you think that the hyenas won. that brother luke won, that dr traylor won. and the thing about jude is he always try. he tried to get through life, he tried to accept romance in his life, he tried and he tries to accept everyone's devotion and help because even though he feels like he doesn't deserve it; he feels like he owes them that at least. to try.

i can see how people, especially the first ones when it just came out, may be put off by the tones and the topics of this book, but as years went by and it grows in popularity, the trigger warnings had been set. one thing ive set my mind to when i bought the book is the advice i was given: to only read it when im in a stable stage of my life, and that's why it took me almost a year before i started reading it after buying it. the triggers are listed for anyone to see. YES. those things do happen in real life. those things, esp the rape and physical mental and verbal abuse DO come in hand majority of the time. the book is not trauma dumping or a trauma porn: it simply tells. (imo, its on YOU if u think this is a trauma porn. imo, it says a lot about you as a person).

the book is lengthy because it is intended to be, the "unnecessary parts" are not just fillers but a stepping stone to unraveling jude's past, to fully grasp the situation. they are there for a reason. you can skim through the book if you want to avoid them: but believe me when i say you wont fully get the book if you do. the book is not meant to be enjoyed. its meant to tell a story, to make you feel things for the characters, may it be pity or joy or anger.

jude is not meant to be understood or to help or to be pitied at, hes meant to exist. and those things are something that was given to him willingly by the people he loved. and the characters are all flawed. andy is a bad doctor, willem is lovable and maybe had too much love, malcolm is perfect (i love him so much), jb is infuriating most of the times, harold shouldve pushed more. they all shouldve pushed more, but they cant. because the way they love is also flawed and it gets in the way, because judy is also flawed. hes stubborn and confusing. but those are traits that makes them all human.

ive reblogged this before but ill say it again: ik its a meme, but not everything can be solved through therapy. again, it took jude YEARS to finally tell willem his past– willem. willem who jude probably trust with his life, who he lets help him and seeked out for him when he was bleeding to death from cutting too much. you think jude would talk to a shrink he barely knows? someones whos literally paid to talk to him? not even jb and malcolm knew.

smth i wanna address that i rlly dont get is people who claims it's homophobic, and i really and genuinely cant see it, as a lesbian person myself. every talk about sexuality (if there even is any thats worth noting for this part), had come naturally. everyone existed how people exist with each other. even when willem and jude got together, theres barely any talk about willem's sexuality. also, hot take (/s): sexuality is confusing!! not everyone wants to label themselves. ive known multiple ppl who majorly likes girls only, but have fallen for their recent boyfriend. it happens, surprise! not everyone wants to put themselves in a box.

in conclusion: i think people expects this book to turn out for the better as a psychological response. surprise, it doesn't. my opinion? it's not meant to be enjoyed. i dont recommend this to anyone but only because it IS devastating and im a sadist if i want people to experience those feelings the book will brought. however, the characters, the delivery of the story and the pacing, and hanya's god bowing writing style are what makes this book GREAT. great ≠ happy ending, just like how sad ending ≠ bad book. thanks!
