You do know that FBBC are still heavily producing and distributing beer, right? Before you start patting yourself on the back that the original brewery/land is being sold, you might want to get clued into the fact that distribution has been expanded to San Antonio and recently to Houston. The company and brand are positioning themselves to expand further. Don't think they will go back to the cute craft brewery, but as you have pointed out, craft breweries are not that profitable. Looks like they are going for a stronger business model.

You go on about the whole YANA thing. I have never understood why a select few in the fandom actually became jealous about a charity? Seems so small minded and petty. Regardless, YANA still exists and continues to do good things.

Yes I know about their distribution, I'm the one who pointed out 5 years ago all those bottling and canning equipment and the end products weren't for the taproom customers but meant for distribution because the Ackles were trying to go big because they want to make actual profit despite originally claiming that they would only sell beer at the brewery (X).

What did you think the $1000 membership package was about?  To get SPN fans to regularly go to FBBC to keep it afloat so they can keep making beer on site and then ship off site. Quite a turnaround when Gino cast dispersion toward SPN fans and said there will be no beer named after a "corny tv show" (X)

According to Gino, they plan to resume producing their own beer again once they find a location in Austin.

After they bought these top on the line brewing equipment and are now selling. That sounds like a "stronger business model" to you?

Surely you don't think the Ackles are going to sell off all the brewery equipment only to turn around and buy new equipment for the alleged 2nd location?  At best they should just open a small scale taproom and put Gino in there as the glorified bar tender.

Do you know people who had their beer made by somebody else?  I have. They have to pay for everything, or make compromises.  There is no in between. A specific yeast strain the contractors don't use?  Then you're going to have to pay for that, and the labor to keep it going, or do it yourself.  Oh wait, they can't because they closed down FBBC.

Breweries don't close because they'll make more money from contract breweries, if that's the case then why open your own brewery in the first place?

Let me break it down using another real life example:

If parents have a couple of kids going to the same college and overlap each other, instead of paying dorm fees or renting an apartment, they would buy a townhouse for their child/ren and rent out rooms to other students, which pays for the mortgage.  Then when the last child graduates, they sell the house for a profit.

See the difference between owning a brewery that doubles as a contract brewery (your house) vs paying everything to a contract brewery (college)?

What's going on is there is a saturation of craft breweries.  It's like in the late 90s when there was a huge surge in openings of comic shops.  Every collector dreamed of running his own place and thought a love for the product was enough to be successful. The market became saturated.  A couple years later, the trend reversed and it seemed another shop was closing every other week. The difference in making it or not largely rested on whether the owner had the skill set to run a business. Foresight. Customer relations. General business principles. And of course, the ones who had adequate funding. The market decided who made it and who didn’t.

That's what is going on in the current beer industry.  The hobbyists who thought they could be successful because they loved brewing but lacked the skill set to run a business are beginning to fall.

LOL nobody is jealous of YANA, people continue to be amused by it because of how badly it was executed and then failed. If YANA still exist and continues to do good thing, it's only because Jared bailed it out after both Misha and Jensen abandoned the public promise as mentioned here and here.

I remember back in my day a craft beer was “hey there’s a beer that’s $3.50 a bottle instead of $2 and it’s way better!”

Nowadays it’s “this craft beer is sourced with water collected from the Himalayas by free range howler monkeys and filtered through the wings of butterflies.  Oh and we can’t bother to be original so it’s an IPA loaded with hops.  $8 please”.

Ramona Gabriel Ibañez Madrazo [Spn OC @sugarandice3]

Physical Description: Ramona is tall for a Hispanic woman, standing at around 5’6”. Her dark hair is thick and long (hitting mid-back), always pulled back in a simple braid or up into a bun. Her skin is olive toned and deeply bronzed with darker sunspots sprinkled on her face, shoulders, neck, and chest from years of riding in her convertible. Dark russet brown eyes are set into a round, weathered face decorated by crows feet and hounddog lines. Ramona also has a lean body with wide shoulders and comparatively narrower hips. After years of fighting ghosts and monsters, she has collected many scars, but the biggest one is a set of claw marks running down her back from the bottom of her left shoulder blade to the cinch of her waist from a werewolf attack that nearly killed her and turned her husband. Her style tends to be modest and muted, even though she prefers vibrant colors. Even though they remind her of home and heritage, they stand out too much for a hunter’s needs so she goes for neutral tones in blue-collar styles. She also wears a pendant around her neck of her patron saint, Gabriel the angel. It normally stays tucked under her shirt unless she’s praying, thoughtful, or anxious. Personality: Ramona is a protector, first and foremost. The drive to protect others from the fate she suffered is partly what fuels her hunting career and keeps her going despite the darkness and death she faces on a regular basis. The other thing that has prevented her from becoming hardened and cynical is her devout Catholic faith. It provides her with a weighted sense of joy and justice that help anchor her throughout each job. Although she’s considered a bit of an oddity by her peers, Ramona is also well respected by most because of these differences. She loves people, but tends to take a long time to bond with them. Ramona doesn’t have a lot of personal relationships, but that doesn’t mean she treats people with any less love than if she did. She is sharply maternal in nature which is very strange in this line of work, but not entirely unwelcome by the hunters she has partnered up with.

Ramona is a planner; very routine oriented and extremely careful on every hunt. No matter how simple the job, she always takes the time to create a plan of attack along with a plan for escape in case things go wrong. She is as “lawful good” as a hunter can get, refusing to steal or cheat for a living. While this does mean that she sleeps in her car and skips a meal from time to time, she doesn’t mind. She is a very disciplined and skillful woman, which makes her an excellent hunter. Personal History: She was born to first generation immigrants and grew up in south west Texas where her father was a ranch hand and her mother sold lovely hand-made rosaries. Ramona was the second of six children, with an older sister, two younger sisters and two younger brothers (Sister, Ramona, Brother, Sister, Sister, Brother.) Her childhood was happy and largely uneventful. She got married at 22 and was set to have a happy life until a couple years later when she and her husband took a trip to Houston. It was there that they were attacked by a werewolf. It caught her and was going to turn her when her husband intervened, body slamming it to the ground. Ramona was too injured to really run away, but luckily a hunter, who was tracking the monster, rescued her and got her away before it was too late. He rushed her to the hospital and stayed by her side until she woke up. He told her what his job was and took the time to explain what had happened. Unfortunately he had to break the news to her that her husband was most likely dead or, worse, turned into a werewolf. She was discharged from the hospital the next morning, but the hunter wouldn’t let her go home just yet. He was worried that if her husband was still alive she would be the next target so he left her in his motel room with a gun loaded with a single silver bullet. Hours dragged by and young Ramona got restless and decided to go on a short walk to clear her head. She wandered around and around until night fell. She was on her way back to the motel and crossing through an alley when she was ambushed. There stood her husband, snarling and monstrous. There was a brief fight and chase but Ramona eventually gunned him down. ater, the hunter found her grieving over his body. He would take her back to the motel and offer to take her home, but Ramona refused. She wanted to know more about this life and the supernatural world around her. The hunter was originally hesitant, but she was quite instant so he made her an offer. He would give her two years to get her affairs in order and then find her again and see if she felt the same way. Fast forward a couple years after the investigation and the funeral and the hunter came back and Ramona went with him. They spent several years traveling together and would eventually get married. They would have a couple decades of happy hunting before they meet Quinn.

Rannis [TGEOI @cygnascrimbles]

When a dragon, a creature unheard of for hundreds of years, destroyed Rannis’ remote mountain village and everyone in it, he hunted it for days and killed it- not for revenge, but to make sure it would never hurt anyone else ever again. you’ve just unlocked something bad with this ask (my obsession with associating songs with pretty much everything).

i’ll try to answer you briefly but first, note i mostly associate songs with the characters of spn and mlqc! so i’ll start with spn : i associate a lot of songs mainly to sam, dean (and also sam and dean haha) and then castiel and jack.

sam : i’ll begin with perfect by simple plan because i think it shows how much sam thought he’d never reach the expectations set by his dad. then, we have broken crown by mumford & sons that i find very fitting for sam discovering he’s the boy king of hell and the vessel of lucifer. he’s trying so hard to reject what he supposedly is because he thinks his choices define his fate. there’s also the light behind your eyes by my chemical romance because in my opinion, this song really represents sam as a person as he’s kind, feeling guilty of all the losses they have been through but also this hope that we can still find within him after all that happened.

dean : first of all we have the stigma (boys don’t cry) by as it is. the songs really says it all and shows that even with his overgrowing pain, dean tries to keep it together. i also associate interlude : i’m not angry anymore by paramore as i feel like this is the relationship dean has with his father (it’s only my take on it). it shows that even if dean loves their dad he sometimes feels the downside of their childhood and resents john as much as he loves him. then i can add travelling riverside blues & ramble on by led zeppelin because we know that those are dean favourite songs.

as for mlqc, i mostly associate with them genre of music i feel like they would listen to (and after i find fitting songs/artists).

victor : he’d listen to classical music, classic old french songs and some pop music (whitney houston style). he’s a classy man

gavin : he’d listen to rap (us rap) mostly. i can’t really explain it but i like to think that’s the case

shaw : definitely would listen to rock and alternative rock (no one could make me think he’s not a green day & metallica fan with all their albums)

lucien : he’d love jazz!! i know he has a record player and plays his vinyls while he finishes his work

kiro : i think he’d listen to everything because he’s an singer but his favourite genre would be pop (and i think artists like ruel, keshi or dhruv are in his favourites)

i restricted myself and chose only some songs for the brothers otherwise i wouldn’t be able to stop myself (but if by chance you’re interested i have some playlists that i’d love to share and talk about!!)

okay, now i'm starting to wonder if there were RL reasons, not just narrative reasons why they positioned jensen's character so deliberately between the two leads? whatever the case, this sucks 😞 but on the bright side, the last shot of the entire series is jenny and beau being soft and holding hands and him choosing to stay, so there's that ❤️ at least the possibility of jenny saying something like "oh, he went back to houston" if there was a fourth season is no more.

Hm, I'm not sure I saw it as Beau being placed between them, but more as them both having their own stories a bit, and Beau had the proper storyline AND the chemistry with Jenny, so that's where he ended up being. And to be honest, they've had some separation in earlier seasons, this season just committed to it by giving them separate "teams". But, if it was because of some drama, that would mean the writers would already have had the inkling that this might be the last season..... which highkey means there was even less reason for the showrunner to shove in Beau's evil ex and crazy offspring, there was no need for an "exit strategy" (not that this made sense even before, but that's a different essay). But, they really got away with wasting so much of what ended by being the last season, because people kept excusing this storyline, for this reason (but lowkey also because "spn fam" hates Jensen and his characters and will defend anyone who demeans him).

At the end of the day, who knows. Maybe there was drama and that contributed to the show ending, maybe it's just an unfounded rumour. For all we know, even if it's drama, it wasn't necessarily between actor vs actor. It could be within the writers room even, tbh, because there was definitely some discord there, clear differences between how different writers saw and wrote the story. That could certainly get ugly, there's a reason Dabb populated his writers room with people who hate Dean as much as he does, as soon as he was put in charge.

I agree with that completely about the ending though, it was a nice ending (and it certainly could've been a lot worse). I still maintain they should've kissed though 😂😫 But yes, the only good things about this cancellation is that A, they can't mess up Beau, send him back to an abusive marriage, write some ooc thing like episode 11. And, B, they can't disrespect Jenny/Katheryn (or Beau) anymore. I really cannot imagine treating your lead the way they treated Jenny, putting her story with her mom on the back burner, treating her like the third wheel in her own romantic storyline, all just to waste time on guest characters Carla and Emily. At least if time had been spent on the mystery, exploring Sunny and Buck, Walt, their pasts, motivations and impulses, it would've made sense. But this? Nope. Or, the way a guest character like Carla could come in and be condescending and catty to her for no reason, literally just for existing (and being better than Carla could ever hope to be, in every single way possible) and have the narrative still treat her like royalty. That's just messy af (the only other time I've seen a lead treated like this is Supernatural, where of course, treating Dean like garbage was an initiation rite for every writer and character in the later seasons 🤦🏻‍♀️). Nor did it make a whole lot of sense to bring in Beau as a main character for the season, situate him in the main story opposite their lead, and then instead of exploring him, his trauma, his past and his healing, his relationship with Jenny, they just..... reduced him to "dad!Beau". So, as much as I'll miss Beau and Jenny, that is at least one silver lining, that we won't have to worry about them as characters being insulted and as actors, not getting the writing that's worthy and does justice to their skills. But that doesn't change how angry I am that they had just the one season with Beau, and Beau/Jenny together, and they wasted it. Even with little proper focus, their story/dynamic ended up being so beautiful. Imagine what it could've been if it would've been explored properly, if the focus had been on the right things!

SPN Houston

So I attended SPN Houston (after having SO much fun at SPN Dallas). The con happened to be the weekend after ‘Dean’s birthday’ so I decided to try to do a similar op that I did with Misha/Cas for Cas’ birthday (https://ferferelli.tumblr.com/post/150633673916/happy-birthday-cas) I had more of the hats that I used for Misha’s op and then did an apple pie (instead of the angel food cake) with the same candles. My J2 photo turned out perfect, these guys deserve a bunch of credit.

Story behind it: So we get up there and my boyfriend nervously asks them to do the titanic pose cause the music was playing so loud and I was afraid they wouldn't be able to hear me since I get really quiet when I'm nervous. Jared does his silent laugh and they smile so big. So we get into position and I go behind Jensen and he smells so good? He smelled minty and clean it was nice. And Jared extends his arms and accidentally bumps me and goes "oh I'm sorry". Then Jared starts to crouch trying to get the pose right and Jensen says "No man, go up." So he extends his whole torso up and everyone in line screams and claps and this whole time I'm just standing there holding Jensen?? So thanks Jared for taking a while. They take the picture and I give Jensen a big hug and I tell him thank you and he rubs my back and gives me a big smile then I turn and see Jared is just kinda standing there so I rush over to him before they tell me to move it along for the next photo and he engulfs me in this huge hug so yeah this convention was amazing.
