Been obsessively working on an idea for a Splatoon and partially DnD based magic system, thought I’d share it! If anything is disorganized, contradicts, or repeats itself, it’s because most of it has been written at midnight throughout the past week

Music is canonically magical

Zap fish and Power eggs give power (magical in nature?)

Since splatoon is post-apocalyptic, ancient humans had cool technologies or smth

Ancient sea gods (variants/take inspo off of splatoon bosses? King salmonids might be magic imbued/ just actual gods?)

Splatoon “demons” have something to do with story mode voices? Or ancient human ghosts?

“Plant” magic includes coral now

Training grounds and schools to connect with magic are sprinkled throughout

Monk abilities are now squid roll and super jump because yes

Fairies are like sea butterflies???

Global warming caused extreme weather conditions (maybe take inspo off of that Pokémon concept by lockstin & noggin?)

Music mind control definitely exists (maybe Octavio/-like uses it? Or Tartar?)

Sanitized and fuzzy ink is a little wackus bonkus (made from dead bits and aliens and stuff, so it interacts with world differently due to magical/ technological properties)

Ancient clans confirmed w/ examples being Shiver, Frye, and Big Man

Weapons help concentrate ink magic

Other races can have magic, but it’s off a different type (since no ink)

Main pillars of magic are rooted in Song, Ink, Color, and Memories. Based on Deep cut and other characters, we can assume most if not all species have ink

Ink color is important, not necessarily magic in and of itself, but a manifestation of it (slightly edited this fact later on, don't worry about it)

No fey realm :( but they do have a magic realm of sorts. It’s a realm manifested of pure color, ink, and music, as well as human memories mixed in there. Maybe also nuclear, who knows. (For simplicity I’m calling it a fey realm though)

Rain is dangerous, Rain World style

Transient water/ink pools to other dimensions?

Nuclear based hell circles?

Maybe nuclear power is the “demonic” side of magic? And Cephalo-etcs are semi-resistant to it, and learned to control it like a form of dark magic?

Poisonous/venomous species assassins are fairly common, there’s whole cults/underground schools dedicated to the art of it

Jellyfish hive mind do be like that???

Frying permanently “fries in” a food based magic (like Crusty Sean might have a now-permanent run speed up)

Zapfish are along the same lines as king salmonids, just more respected due to them acting as a big friendly traveling energy source

8 is seen as a “magic number” of sorts to Octarians

Magic Specific Details

Like I said before, main pillars/sources are Music, Colors, Memories, and Ink!

Nuclear magic, while “natural,” is looked down upon, and generally considered evil. Fairly dangerous for both users and target

Use weapons as focuses most of the time! Especially ink based weapons, while being useful physically also allow for ink based manipulation. Song based weapons work as well, and while memories don’t have a focus, they can be compressed into memcakes

Sanitized, Fuzzy, and [side order] ink is all modified technologically, magically, or nuclearly, and is all highly dangerous and illegal. The main reason why creatures get permanently affected by it (mind control, becoming furries, etc.) in the first place

Jellyfish can use telepathic sort of magic, it’s main source being Memories

Zapfish are a siphon of electrical energy and magic, helping spur technology and link the gap for many different races as a pseudo-magic. Also some sort of more powerful being, sort of like a dragon

Respawn anchors are a mix of Ink and Memory technology, powered by the Zapfish

Salmonids have different magic customs, using more nuclear magic, as well as different types of song and technology

Super Jump, squid roll, etc. are all movement spells, many species can use them

Temporary drink and food-based magic is their form of alchemy/potions. Temporarily enhances abilities

Salmonid excel in food magic due to their whole thing with being eaten after death

Color chips include technologically engineered magic [side order please give me lore]

Color is a type of magic usually coinciding with emotions. “Fey” use it regularly, and their realm is a pure collection of it and song

Ghosts are manifested and affected by Memories, and they live in a sort of ghost realm similar to the void with human tech and stuff. Bits and bobs of memories and artifacts floating around

Song music is really strong, and does a lot of mind related stuff. (Ex: Jellyfish get their telepathic power from song) (and color)

Species abilities includes: Bioluminescence, venom/poison, electricity, regeneration, spitting insides out at you, seeing more colors (giving stronger color magic), cold/ice magic, etc.

Booyah magic is real, and primarily based on sound (Music)

Splatfest law is actually somewhat true, sometimes things are manifested by the memories of it, as well as predicting future events

Power eggs give energy similar to the strength of a singular mini Zapfish. Golden power eggs are super strong magic conductors, and control and siphon energy as well.

Super sea snails have a sort of magic randomizer imbued in them

Kraken magic is gotten from colors, ink, and extreme emotions

While some creatures don’t have ink magic, some still do, such as eels, sharks, mantas,

Main Mythological Creatures

Great Zapfish - gives energy, lawful good, invested in Song slightly more. My man powers the entire three cities, I’m proud of him. Popular god among most city-dwellers

Huge fry - Reincarnated god, shows up only in Salmonids. Chaotic Good, fights for justice but will destroy a city (oops)

Horrorboros - Reincarnated nuclear empowered god of salmonids, most popular among them as a result. God of life, death, and reincarnation. Huge Fry is kind of like a child or champion of sorts

Cohozuna - Nuclear empowered king of salmonids, similar to Grizz in that he’s not exactly a god, though he didn’t cause his own nuclear shenanigans. Treated like a god though, and has special cool abilities

Grizz* - He basically made himself a “god” with his fuzzy ooze.

Goldy- Minor god/creature, controls glowfies. Kind of like pestilence or something? Very popular among salmonids, usually the leaders of the troops they are in

Minor gods based off of Deep Cut’s families (shark, eel, and manta)

Nessie - Canonically exists!

Space - Not a creature, but space is important to almost all creatures. Radio waves for the Splatfest come from there, Horrorboros is said to have come from there, Huge Fry is often depicted in outer space, etc. (Grizz is also related to space, but again, he’s a self-made god)

Kraken (creature) - Major god to many Octolings, the Kraken is somewhat of a magic common ancestor, and/or gifted it’s magic to cephalopods (color and ink)

Ink vampires - They exist. Not exactly dead, but a deficiency in ink or color can cause vampirism. Not to be confused with the vampire squid species

Had this Kamen Rider type of dude and his buddies in my head for a few weeks now. Thought I'd try to give them a solid appearance, thinking "Blade and Wanda" for the hero names, dude at the back is called "Goobert" or something (He's the one who's got the forms).

These kinds of characters aren't my "usual" thing (the Magical Girl might be the closest?), but I kinda like 'em/ They definitely need refining, especially the Rider Guy.

Not sure if I'll do anything with these guys, already got a lot of project stuff going on. Maybe if I do Art Fight next year, I could add these dudes?

This is my redrawn/redesigned artwork/concept art of six alien/dimensional creature characters of mine (From left to right: Qualord, Octara, Palsofie, Osi and Moza; except for Kyle from Home) in my unnamed Crossover AU project from my previous old one (below) I did back in 2017.

And plus, the name of the society was immediately changed from "Team Alien" to "Offcast Gang", which means that every alien/alternate/dimensional creature character of mine (except for Kyle) was immediately expelled from their home planets/dimensions for their reasonable methods, that they stubbornly refuse to give disciplined and excessively limited rules and the legislations of their native homelands (mainly due to Octara becoming self-willed and independent from her ominous ink-based Octarian homeland in Octo Valley due to an event after the first Splatoon game) and then they become individual and separate from their disposable ones on further journeys throughout the galaxy.

And yet, regarding my old OCs next to Kyle, I wanted to introduce you:

Qualord - he’s the probable leader of the Offcast Gang. Moreover, he’s a dog-like big buff alien who once lived planet Fosian with some inhabited by the same species as his was called as Fosikos. He was banished from his own planet to across the galaxy for piloting his spaceship when he refused to continue participating in the hostile and conquering Fosiko armies and even marauding and poaching societies against other alien societies/groups such as the peaceful and passive society of cat-like alien individuals called Felicuses in the separate planet Catsmos.

Osi - he’s a little armless bipedal and one-eyed monster, who was once a former doctor/medic and scientific expert on his underground homemland called Monotopia on an unknown fantasy-like planet in the Universe B2, but was expelled for his excessive and genetically characteristic habits for being too much smarter and more worthy than his fellow Fuulscat individuals, who seem too much stupider than him. Moreover, he speaks with a distinctly elegant voice, similar to a voice of an elegant but historical human scholar, and he also enjoys reading many types of books as well as novels.

Palsofie - a dwarf dragon-like alien prisoner (with an iron mask that allows him to cover his mouth from endless fire breathing) who escaped from Aguaali Prison on the planet Srewxi, even he was a former member of the Horly Gangs (a criminal and robbery organization together with four of different alien species) until he was caught and arrested by the police after a bank robbery incident. Though, he speaks in a muffled gibberish, as the mask completely hinders him. Also, The name of his alien species is Karstak.

Moza - she is a fairy/pixie-like small winged creature, who occasionally lived in a small town called Laafitown (covered beyond the grass near the edge of the forest) on an unknown fantasy-like planet in the Universe B2, the same place as Osi did. Yet, she must possess various types of magical abilities (especially nature elements, for example) using pollen-like materials from each used bag and wand or other items she received from her fellow wizard, Slateous, and others. Also, the name of her species is Laafiza. And an interesting fact, some people (including Kyle) who first saw Moza, accidentally confused her with a child, but in general, Moza is an adult, it's just the case that she is naturally chibi-like smaller in stature, like her fellow Laafizas in general.

Octara - She is a 25-year-old female Octoling and was one of the former commanders of the Octarian Armies in the Octo Valley. Then, in the first Splatoon game incident, specifically when Agent 3 (now, Captain in the third game) was fighting against DJ Octavio during the final boss, the pop idol duo, Squid Sisters (Callie and Marie) performed the Calamari Inkantation to get Agent 3's support and even that attend the Octolings (including Octara and Marina) get inspired by this performance to their new feelings within, After that, they managed to escape from their undervalued and unprofitable homeland and assimilating into Inkling culture, hoping to start anew. Even for Octara, it still opened up her new destiny to become self-willed and independent, to do things on her own terms than her fellow Octolings did, and then a few years later, at the age of 21, she finally left Inkadia via a passenger spaceship to travel across space and galaxy to another dimension called Universe A2 on the planet Alteria, so that Octara needs to get a new job at an environmental company called Squi Inc., while it is run by the CEO of this company, actually the politely noble Twintacle Octotrooper, Iroham Toutentakuru. Also, when she is assigned as a member of the Offcast gang, first of all, as she and her comrades first met Kyle during their events, but first Kyle was like the first secretly in love with Octara because of her physical appearance and so on, and she also has a crush on him back during their bizarre and comedic adventures, moments and journeys throughout the galaxy and he even saved her during a battle against a volcano-like destructive entity, Vulkaavr in the Osi and Moza's universe, and eventually she and Kyle became together and married after all.

And besides, I had fun redrawing some of my characters in their new but better look than before. And I was even lucky to draw Kyle again after a long time.

Grand Fest Recollections. Thank You For Two Years!

My heart feels so heavy today. As I woke up to see a sunrise that matched the one we finally have in Splatoon 3, reality settled in.

Life has to go back to normal after a splatfest weekend but this celebration truly changed everything.

The Grand Festival was such a wonderful celebration of Splatoon in its entirety. 

I felt the most unbridled joy experiencing that magic brought to the in-game performances, the live renditions of each song in carefully crafted set-lists and seeing Liquid Sunshine choreography and its vibrancy for the first time.

On and off stream the three stages are where I spent the most time during Grand Fest when I could. I sat around the venue and just took in the details of the concerts and the setting; enjoying that moment in time was how I kept myself grounded.

But I think what had me start to unravel is realizing that I let the actual splatfest battle experience slip away.

I’d seen a Twitter comment on Sunday while I was taking pictures of Three Wishes that mentioned again how we would be able to return to the venue because of a datamine (granted I knew of this from months ago) about the amiibos.

I had no idea when the feature would drop and when we would be able to revisit the Grand Festival Grounds again. It could have been a week from now for all I knew. 

We got the confirmation almost instantaneously. I was overjoyed to be able to go right back but I also felt a little ridiculous for not playing the fest more if this would be the case.

I want to give a massive thank you to everyone who did play matches with me for Team Present though—especially my homies @Chandlier1229, @mxntymoon, @semisentientseafood, @epicyoshimaster and @kosirenn

Big ups to @CJHyperfresh and @Jasbiskus for inviting myself and my partner @squidryder to collab on an amazing stream. It was an unforgettable time and we had so many laughs.

Thank you Ryder for joining me in Tricolor and reacting to the results! You make me smile so much and your presence is a present.

Emotions were high throughout this whole event for a lot of us but personally, I wasn’t able to fully process it until things were ending.

I know I got overwhelmed with the vastness of everything and other more existential thoughts. So, I can only imagine what developing all of this was like.

Admittedly, I felt my reaction to Three Wishes was lackluster. The whole reason I went for an IRL stream was in case I didn’t say much and so that some emotion was visible. 

I cried the first time I heard the song and saw the lyrics but the tears weren’t happening that Saturday.

Granted, there’s a lot happening the first time you experience Three Wishes in-game, but the way the VOD turned out is something I can’t change much like my splatfest team.

While I had my reasoning for joining Team Present, perhaps I was too logical about it. Although that’s what the theme asks of you, I can’t help but lament on this a little bit. I want to work through this feeling.

I went in thinking that the present is where I can experience all of time. It’s a difficult concept and a part of me wishes I had treated it differently. Seeing clips from people playing the splatfest also got me in my feels, too. I wonder if I did enough.

As someone who chose Team Marie and fawns over her the most (Frye is probably a close second at this point), I thought about joining Past simply because she was fighting alongside Callie this time. 

The Squid Sisters had the most compelling splatfest art by far for the event and I know their Grand Fest outfits were my favorite. 

Their music saved me from the moment I played my first Splatoon 1 splatfest. I cried over the Plaza, over seeing them back in the DLC, over hearing City of Color leitmotifs to this day.

The Rainbow Color Inkantation version of it has so much urgency and emotion in the vocals, as if they’re urging you to remember them and fight for the past.

That’s not to say Off the Hook isn’t also meaningful to me, however. They are the reason I was able to pursue voice acting as a hobby in the first place, starting out with voicing over their splatfest dialogue. 

And of course, we all know their formation is still so closely linked to the Squid Sisters existing. Anyone who watches my streams can tell which group I go crazy over the most but choosing in terms of the passage of time may not let your choices align and check both boxes. I agonized over teams for a while.

Ultimately, I stuck to the question as best I could. 

Which is the most important to you?

Experiencing the now. Finally reaching that promised day. 

My memories are never super clear for me unless I preserve them in some form of writing, video or photo. Skill issue on my part but all brains are different. 

So, I repeated this a lot that fateful weekend: the present moment will always become the past so make it count. Choosing one doesn’t mean the other isn’t important but again it was truly difficult.

My past self got me where I am now and every decision I make in the present sets me up for success in the future. 

I grew up hearing that we don’t know what tomorrow looks like and you can’t obsess over it. Although, when you have good things to look forward to you can’t help but anticipate how they’ll play out. 

Past, present and future are intertwined and if you look at the splatfest theme graphic, you’ll see that all the ink swirls connect despite being different colors.

I think that’s why they called the second night of the Grand Festival the Day of Unity. We were all together to witness that performance regardless of team choice.

Music will always be the core of Splatoon and it will carry on across the sea of time, imbued by our passions and joys.

Good games, well played to everyone! I’m really grateful to have been here and seen every splatfest from the beginning this time around. Splatoon has been with me through every season of my life and it's ink-redible.

I have so much appreciation for everyone who stopped by the streams over the weekend. Doubly so for those who shared messages about when they first found my videos and the impact they’ve had.

I’m glad my enjoyment of Splatoon could resonate with you and go so far as to brighten your day.

We reached 3K followers on Twitch (another yearly milestone) with everyone’s support and I met so many new people. To those who know me from my videos only, I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.

Looking back, I started broadcasting there in late 2022 so I’ve streamed every Splatoon 3 splatfest since the World Premiere (aside from the ice cream theme since I was visiting family).

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts this weekend. It had been a rough few weeks leading up to Grand Fest, so, once again I’m glad I could be there in any capacity.

Thank you Splatoon team for everything you’ve created and I hope we can continue to show just how much this series means to us. It’s time for me to finish up some projects from the past.

if there was one thing you could change gameplay or lore wise, what would it be and why?

this is such a big question i spent a day thinking about it, pondering which of my 100 issues with Splatoon i would prioritize. is there ANY issue disruptive enough to put it above the others which is consistently ruining my life? There's mostly just a dozen small annoying things which are relevant but not big enough to really warrant a full overhaul or removal. how could I EVER POSSIBLY choose?

The answer is obvious, I would get rid of Judd. He's a leftover from the concept when Splatoon was going to be all cartoon rabbits and that's exactly what he looks like. he has no business in the sea creature world. nowhere in Splatoon fits or needs a fucking sentient telepathically speaking cartoon cat that has an arrow tip for a tail and magically judges all of the 23849034324 turf wars and ranked matches going on at any given time. getting rid of judd would also get rid of Li'l Judd who is somehow almost even more pointless than Judd. and yes i would rather remove judd from existence than make mr.grizz not a bear but without Judd existing they might not have made Grizz a bear, or if they did then i would be extra annoyed about grizz being a bear, but it would be worth it. i can say for certain that Judd not existing would improve my opinion on the Splatoon world and increase my immersion tenfold. Goodbye you dumbass freaking cat who I continuously forget is even part of the game despite him literally being there every single match

18. What Inspires You?

To tell the truth, when I created Lucy, there was nothing specific that I relied on. I just wanted to create a character that I would like if he were in the game. You can say the game itself is my inspiration! The lore, the world, other characters, the structure and rules of this world..

In general, I created Lucy by taking a specific archetype of female characters: I have no idea what to call it correctly, but as an example I can give for example the Blue Diamond from Steven Universe, Marina from Splatoon, maybe Flattershy and Shizuku from pj sekai. But even on them, I was not equal, creating it, because I did not even know half of them at that moment and I noticed the similarity relatively recently.

I just wanted to make a kind, humble sorceress playing the role of "mommy" in the company of friends (if very exaggerated). I also wanted to give her the same love for space, stars, crystals and magic as I have, roughly speaking, to give her my hyperfixations. So roughly speaking, I took my favorite traits in female characters, both facial features and character traits, gave her my passion: astronomy, astrology and magic and made her a sad woman, that's all!

I've been busy with schoolwork, so hadn't found the time to post these, but I found my stylus earlier this month! Only took me 6 months to find it 🙂. Here's some Ribbon and Diamond related stuff I drew a bit earlier in the month after finding it.

I ramble a lot here, so details on these characters are under the cut if you wanna hear me infodump about my characters and comic stuff.

First up are the fairies Bow and Tie, who help Ribbon and Diamond respectively. I'm really proud of the names, as goofy as they are. They match one another and each corelate to the respective magical girls they assist, as ribbons can be tied into bows, and neckties are diamond-shaped. Their colors and design specifics aren't set in stone, but they'll be made of fairly simple shapes so they can be drawn easily. Maybe I'll make them fully different colors from Ribbon and Diamond, with Tie being a yellow-green and Bow being lavender or another purple. Not sure though because I really like Bow with that shade of pink hair.

Next up, still on the topic of fairies, is this character whose outfit might seem familiar. (to those that have seen the singular drawing from 2? years ago of a character wearing this, this one's for you) I like how the character's personal colors look, but the colors on the outfit were kinda chosen randomly so I'll definitely be playing around with those some more. I've been wanting to rework the story of the witches, and the King is the one who's needed the most work. This is a possible concept I'm going to play around with. I don't think the proportions of the fullbody drawing will be the King's actual appearance as a fairy, looks kinda splatoon-esque lol, but since this outfit was intended for a human-sized character, I need to draw an awkward middle stage as I work to simplify the outfit for a smaller character, like a reversed Pokémon. I also think i'll be changing King's pronouns from she/her to he/him (or another combo with he/him). King still considers himself a gal gender identity-wise, but that's what he goes by and others call him. I know in Chinese and Japanese there are some masculine, pretentious? (not exactly pretentious but, like "I'm really cool/great"), personal pronouns or ways of referring to oneself. I'd think if you translated his dialogue into one of those languages or any languages that have something similar, he'd be using those in his speech. I only sorta know two languages besides English, but I definitely want to improve on them, since there are a lot of language specific jokes or gags you can play with in writing. (Plus, obviously just using the languages to talk to people lol) As you can see near the bottom, the King can also take on a human form, albeit with some slightly pointed ears. He's a lot stronger than fairies like Bow and Tie, and can maintain a human form for a very long time should he desire. I'm considering making there be different types/kinds of fairies who have different capabilities, i'll be playing around with those concepts some later. There's definitely a lot more to work with for the King. He doesn't have a proper name yet, yes even after 5 years, this is a normal pace for writing characters actually. Feel free to leave me any name suggestions for him. For reference, the other witches are:

Jo (Josephine) - the Joker. Her suit is clover (clubs, whatever) ♣️

- Her name starts with similar sounds to her witch alias, simple as.

Paige - the Jack. Her suit is hearts, which she shares with her sister. ����🤍 <- her hearts are drawn as half and half, kinda like a broken heart. She's the youngest of the witches and is still going through her emo phase.

- her name comes from an alternate name for the Jack in (i believe) some tarot decks, the Page.

Valentine - the Queen. Her suit is hearts, which she shares with her sister. ❤️

Splatoon Future Story Mode Concept: Redeux!

So, after... a while since I first created my Splatoon Future story mode concept and since then I got some more ideas for the story mode and I polished up a few things here and there to make the story mode better! Anyways, here's my rework of my Splatoon Future story mode concept. Some of the stuff is the same (fake idols, vandilizim instead of zapfishnapping, cuttlings & other junk like that), some stuff chanceg (the origin of the story's villains), and I added a few more things (with the next Splatoon game supposedly being under the codename Spiral, I decided to play around with this idea a bit in the concept) just because. Anyways, here we go.

After going through first time opening up the game junk, the player is greeted with a news broadcast from the "idols" (if you read the OG version of this concept you know where I'm going with this). At first, things start off normal, but then the idols start talking about the vandilization of several monuments celebrating the integration of octarians into inkling culture. All of the photos of said vandilisim have one thing in common: they have the same design, which is what appears to be the figure of a cuttlefish in gold paint and a huge cyan spiral behind it. The "idols" shrug this off and half-heartedly say "oh boy I hope whoever is behind this gets caught" and then the "idols" end the news report normally.

If the player chooses to, there's a vandilized statue in the game's main hub. Interacting with it will cause the cyan spiral painted onto the statue to glow and create a portal that sucks the player into what appears to be a pocket dimention within the statue (the tutorial level of the hero mode). After reaching the end, the player is ejected from the pocket dimention and is back in the hub area. A few inkfish (your guides and allies for the story mode) witness you being spat out of the statue and talk about what tf just happened. After a bit, the pattern on the statue disappears as if it was never vandilized to begin with. Your character and the others then come to the conclusion that whoever is behind the vandilized statues must be up to some tomfuckery & decide that they should find other vandilized sites around the city with this pattern to get to the bottom of this. One of the group members then gives your character a nickname/codename: Spiral. And thus, a new adventure begins!

As you fend off more enemies, you come to realize that you keep fighting some strange inkfish that aren't inklings, octolings, or even nautiluses like Gnarly Eddy from S3. Eventually, you find out that you've been fighting cuttlings and vamplings: two species of inkfish that have been oppressed by both inklings and octolings around the inklings' own colonial period because of their strange ablilities. Cuttlings had the ability to hypnotize others and vamplings were able to turn into horrific versions of themselves & suck the souls out of their victims to become stronger. In fear that these inkfish would cause harm to them, despite the fact that neither species were responsible for a majority of crime at the time, the inklings would do whatever they could to get rid of both species: executions, banishments, you name it. Eventually, all that remained of both species retreated to desolate areas outside of inkling society and attempted to regrow, creating their own communities & stuff. Recently, a group of cuttlings and some hypnotized vamplings (the vamplings didn't want to partake in these crimes against society but the cuttlings needed their strength, so the ones you fight would be hypnotized) have been going into the city closest to their forest settlement (the city Splatoon Future takes place in) and creating these pocket dimentions (the spray paint used by the cuttlings was created by means only the cuttlings knew; a little bit of ancient magic, a little bit of science) they could hop into and, once they got enough people on their side, would jump out of each portal and ambush the city, hypnotizing all who they came into contact with and killing those who didn't obey them. The cuttlings' goal: take over inkling society and make inkfishkind pay for their past transgresions. Oh also you fight ghosts summoned by the cuttlings (they serve as lesser enemies like octotroopers in this story mode; there's only so many people that are willingly on the cuttlings' side) (I decided to add this because of all the spooky stuff happening in stages during splatfests. you gotta explain that somehow) (in this story mode, in a sunken scroll, explains that the ghosts are the souls of inklings and octolings mistaken for cuttlings and vamplings or something like that)

Eventually, you find the actual idols of the game in one of the portals (specifically a boss portal) and find out that the "idols" doing the news aren't the actual idols; they're cuttlings posing as the idols. Why did the cuttlings kidnap the idols? Well, they noticed a pattern where idols would go missing or just be gone for a while without explaination and then boom zapfish is back or whatever, so the cuttlings thought ahead and captured the idols. No brainwashing them, nothing like that. Just capturing them.

The final boss happens in the main hub area. You fight the fake idols for the first few stages, and then you come face-to-face with the cuttling group's leader, who isn't too pleased that a group of vigilantie teens and the real idols are getting away with what they're doing. The leader then creates clones of the player & their crew that you gotta fight while you're also fighting the leader. The fight doesn't end until you knock out the leader (and they have a lot of HP). After the fight, the vamplings break out of the cuttlings' control & the cuttlings carry their leader away. The vamplings then tell the group that they're thankful for them freeing their people and think that inklings and octolings aren't that bad, so they're inviting other vamplings to join inkling society, making vamplings playable (minus their monster form; if kraken is in the next game then their monster form will be their kraken form). After the game, you can choose if you want the true idols to do the news or the fake ones to do them (you can swap them whenever you want) (both have unique broadcasts & splatfest songs).

There might be a few more things that gotta be polished up in this concept, but there ya go.

Introducing Ramona Lee, aka Magical Girl Genesis!

As the Rainbow Guardian, Ramona is able to transform into the girl she’s always wanted to be, while fighting the black ink monsters that haunt her school. They’re goal is to stamp out the world’s creative expression, and Genesis can’t let that happen.

Her life isn’t all fighting — not in the literal sense, at least — as she faces the wonderful world of high school. Surely with magical powers, she is invincible to the problems of the real world… right?

This is a character and game concept I came up with on a whim last night, and I already love her. I imagine this game would play and feel like a combination of Splatoon, Persona, and Cuphead (two of which are games I’ve never actually played, but ignore that).

The Guardian of the Deku Tree (The Legend of Zelda Series)

I came up with her when Tears of the Kingdom came out. Because of the whole time travel scheme in the game, I felt like creating an OC that would be there across all time to connect Zelda in the past and Link in the present. A timeless creature, if you will. Also, I fell in love with the concept of the Zonai. She isn't really a Zonai, but still. I then got obsessed with a YouTuber who was playing an Ocarina of Time randomizer, and so I got the idea of making her the Guardian/Sage/Spirit of the Deku Tree, because the Deku Tree is pretty much one of the most eternal things in the series. And also... Wood elves and dryads my beloveds...

The Weapons and Intel Expert of the New Squidbeak Splatoon (Splatoon Series)

This is just my love for Octolings and Splatoon in general and my obsession with Splatoon 3 combined. I freaking love the music, too, my gosh... She's there from the very start in Splatoon 1 because I have a very special connection with the first game. I know it doesn't full make sense but I believe in the principles of Shrödinger's Canon. In Splatoon 2 she definitely uses dualies, but in Splatoon 1 it's still a modified octoshot.

The True Halfling (The Lord of the Rings)

Half hobbit, half elf, this is a true halfling. With her being half elf, she got the choice of immortality and she chose to be immortal. She spends her days travelling and learning about different cultures, specifically their songs and music. Legend has it that she's the last creature still alive who can harness the magic of old.

The Feral Lynx (One Piece)

He actually has a name! His name is Lux Jirou! While he's still with the Black Cat Pirates, he goes by his first name Jirou, but once he deserts from them, he goes by his last name Lux. My boy has a very funky lynx devil fruit that lets him do cartoon logic style things because One Piece is One Piece and, judging by the one canon lynx in the series and other animal devil fruits, Oda couldn't care less about biological accuracy, so... Funky lynx boi. In the live action, he's Kaya's bodyguard and, one time when Klahadore finds Kaya crying to fluffy big cat Jirou, Kaya lies and says that this his her pet lynx named... Bowie! Yes, this is a David Bowie reference. Also, he's a Zoro ship. And he joins the Heart Pirates later :)

The Lonely Daughter (Encanto)

Behold! It's Bruno's daughter. You probably already know what that entails, she develops some issues after her father leaves. Her name is Soledad which means "loneliness" but Pepa thought that name was cruel after Bruno left, so everyone calls her Soles now, which means "suns". Wanna know what her power is? Water. With a hint of clairvoyance/scrying. But we don't talk about that :)

The Princess of Hearts (Disney's Alice in Wonderland / Descendants)

What can I say - I love the animated Alice in Wonderland a normal amount. I created her for a Roleplay like, I dunno, six years ago? Over six years? She's the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and her King and she's a Wonderland citizen through and through. Delightfully whacky and fun but also a little creepy. And she loves her tea, spends a lot of time with the Mad Hatter and his friends at his tea party. I tried to import her to the Descendants universe once or twice but I just never found a faceclaim that fit. Her name was originally Alice, but I don't know if the Queen would really call her daughter Alice or if she even knows the name of the girl who caused a ruckus at her court, and also that doesn't fit the Descendants naming scheme :)

The Botanic Monster (Undertale)

Well, I had a hyperfixation on Undertale when I was young. Like. Really young. And I kinda got hit in the feels about it again. Sans ship, probably. Dryad-adjacent thingy. Lives in Snowdin and is constantly cold. That's it for now. Look at my girl :) Well, my first draft of her anyway. Kinda feeling like making her anthro because what else is new. We create cat girls here sir. Dryad/cat hybrid? Maybe some sort of panther or other tree-adjacent cat?

I'm working on some concept art for my Pre-Mother 3 theory right now and I'm getting a little bored, so here's some mother 3 headcanons.

(Spoiler warning!) (Also major Duster favoritism)

Lucas

Terrible at socializing, but still loved for being able to listen.

Unintentionally sneaky. That one kid who's always lurking around.

Smells like cinnamon toast crunch.

Sees Claus in Kumatora.

Something about Duster reminds him of Hinawa. Gets very sentimental whenever he hugs him.

Swears very, very rarely. Someone or something is in a massive amount of danger when he does.

People mistake him for being emotionless when in reality he bottles everything up. When he does finally open the bottle he becomes a massive mess. (Note: Self projection (●'◡'●))

Cleans to distract himself.

Once recieved a comic book from a tourist. Was fascinated by it for a short while but threw it away the same day he got it.

Much stronger than he looks. Taking care of sheep has strengthened him significantly.

Has conflicted feelings about his dad.

Worries if he too will start to bald when he gets older.

I feel like if she was real she'd be into gyaru fashion.

Enjoys doing excessive makeup as a hobby but would only wear eyeliner at max regularly.

Was surprisingly hot-headed as a kid. Mellowed out as he aged.

His receding hairline is due to stress. After he joined DCMC it started to (slowly) grow back (With the help of some borrowed hair products).

Is clairvoyant in a non-PSI way. Gave Lucas the mini-mini charm before he embarked for Osohe as he knew the kid would be lonely from then on.

Is in a hidden poly relationship with the rest of the band.

Takes care of his afro wig better than he does his actual hair.

He actually wrote lyrics for many of DCMC's songs. A majority of them went unused.

Thinks of Lucas as his legacy and as such never plans on having kids.

Was the one who named Kumatora. Because he was a preteen at the time, he gave her the wildest name he could think of.

On another note, you are completely welcome to call me crazy but I think Splatoon is a potential continuation of the Mother series timeline. I'll probably write a ridiculously long theory on this later but for now I'll leave it at that.
