Okay so idk how qtubbo dying works (especially since we know he cant die because he isnt alive) but I think it probably is a "motivation to persist" kind of deal. Not a want to come back but a want to not shut down.

We know qtubbo has been suicidal for a long ass time but for a while he wasn't dying because he had to take care of sunny. He was one of the only people who could for a long while, and anyone else had their own kids to look after as well.

But then prison happened and sunny met her pop slime and the reset happened and she met her ma lenay and sunny (technically) had other people. And Tubbo didn't even have create, which was the only other way he really felt he could make himself useful. So he didn't really have a reason to persist anymore. A reason to stop his body from fully shutting down.

But he couldnt just die. So he spoke to the eggs and gave himself a challenge. A challenge he could use as an explanation to not come back. Limited lives No one else liked it but "it was what chayanne said and hes the boss". Or at least that what Tubbo would tell everyone.

And then he did die, he came back and he got a bit weird for a while before returning to a bit of a norm. But all of a sudden now Sunny isn't waking up. And sure, Tubbo has create but create wasnt his purpose in the first place. So why should he persist again?

Hes back on one life. And if you're mad then qtubbo wants you to blame Chayanne. It doesnt matter that there was no agreement this time around!

Thinking about how sorcerers work in the west, specifically the USA, and I think I'd probably use Hellboy, the BPRD and the Bureau of Control from the Remedy Studios games as a rough template. For one thing they're probably not called sorcerers but instead exorcists and vessels like Yuji would be called "sin eaters" going off an old tradition from the British Isles, mainly Wales, where a cake/biscuit would be made and placed upon the dead to soak up their sins and then a poor person was paid to eat the soul cake and absorb the dead person's sins so they can go to heaven. So the consumption of cursed objects is seen as an extension of that old tradition and vessels are treated both kinda like pariahs and also like they're doing a very selfless service to society.

The sorcerer community in America is probably one of the most diverse and disjointed since the country is so heavily populated by immigrants with no real incentive to seek each other out or tbh knowledge the others are even there half the time. But the two most organized factions would be the government's Department of Paranormal Investigation (name likely to change) and ofc, the Catholic Fucking Church. overall the Catholic Church has likely been the largest and most well organized group that employs sorcerers outside of Japan for like, centuries given their real world historical reach and power.

The set up in the USA doesn't really have anything like Jujutsu High and instead exorcists are usually just brought right under the wing of the government and removed from society to live at HQ/branch facilities or are being trained, managed and monitored by handlers as they live semi-normal lives. Generally whether they live on base or out in the world is decided by how inhuman they look (ex. panda or abe sapien ass lookin' guys) and how difficult they are to control (read: they were too strong to muscle into compliance so we had to let them stay in their own home). The Dept and Church have a fairly strained alliance since they have common goals but also a lot of differences and conflicting ones as well. This can get Very Interesting.

Financial compensation of exorcists is also very uh, iffy lol. The gov has very little interest in compensating exorcists, preferring to give them a small stipend and then cover their basic needs like room and board which makes the exorcists very dependent on them and unlikely to quit/defect. The dept is also very interested in experimentation. While the USA is pulling from many millennia old sorcerer traditions the Dept itself is actually very new and is thus very interested expanding their knowledge base and trying to increase the weaponization of cursed energy and curses. They've 100% tried to make like, cursed spirit super soldiers or whatever or like, cursed energy guns lol. These experiments have mixed success and have at times made things that will make life objectively worse for like, the whole world in the long run lol.

I'm still deciding on like, who are the "names to run away from" like Sukuna in the western sorcerer canon but I know one of them is definitely Faust who, while he was never known to be as powerful a fighter as Sukuna, was is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable jujutsu scholars to have ever lived, having made a deal with a cursed spirit and via this learned all kinds of mystical secrets. People will go to war to get their hands on the cursed artifacts he made but are even more covetous of his various tomes of arcane knowledge.

The Dept was only formally founded during WW2, mainly to combat Nazi use of the occult and curses but was a very scrappy and disorganized thing until they came into contact with the jujutsu sorcerers of Japan during the US occupation of the country after the war. A very tentative alliance was made between the two, mainly because Tengen was like "these guys are batshit and not in a good way" and wanted to keep an eye on them (this turned out to be a Very Wise Move later on).

In the same generation as Gojo and Co. the US gets their own special grade exorcist either like Ever or in Ages and are keen to try and make them stronger than Gojo because like... ofc that's how the US would handle this shit. Ofc they make it into an arms race lol. I'll get more into this when I write about that OC but this goes about as well as you'd think and hilariously eventually ends with that exorcist defecting to live in Japan.

RE: This shit and the whole thing to kidnap sorcerers in the manga — the reality is that even in real life the president is not 100% aware of all covert ops and what they do. The Dept is highly secretive and runs on a skeleton budget so they tend not to raise any alarms. They also likely gave up a few presidents ago about trying to get them to believe the whole "demons are real" thing and instead just pretend to be boring government agency #35348546583 to get all their shit thru. People like the president literally didn't know about curses until Kenjaku cropped up and the Dept didn't learn about Kenjaku's scheme until it was already getting underway. Bureaucracy at its finest.

Hear me out… knight au tecchou and it’s just basically romeo and juliet all over again

you read my mind literally. i was thinking of like a fairytale au for him, cause this guy is so perfect for that?

i kinda wanted to dapple with the idea of making him mute for it, with the only way to communicate to the world being letters to friends, and that somehow he would accidentally start a correspondence with the reader and kinda break his curse that way (idk its vague, but irl tecchou wrote a story about not being able to speak while travelling abroad due to a language barrier and i think it would be a cute idea)

but that idea now that im typing it out feels less like a tecchou story and more for ranpo or poe. i dont really write for either of them all that much but i kinda like the idea now (im mostly writing it here so i dont forget, im sleepy af rn lol)

tecchou does give off noble vibes tho, i still feel like he would make a great mr. darcy type of character - he is very stubborn, and i think his ideal of 'justice' would lead to some stiff ideas of relationships. idk if i could write a romeo and juliet story, but thats cause i hate tragic endings lol

'Stars of the Silver Screen' (working title) LIFE SERIES WINNERS AU

HI! so. uh. ive been thinking about a new au while taking a wondrous break from the sea prince and with alien stage infecting my mind rn... i might as well spitball some ideas in regards to it! if all goes well, ill have a fic made of it <3 (reasonably shorter than tsp, i want it to be contained in one fic)

SO. lets talk about it a little!

General blurb;

In a world corrupted and filled to the brim with chaos and nonsense, the Watchers provide a sense of relief and entertainment with their brilliant and stunning performers. Their performances are to die for-- quite literally.

Only the most talented are to succeed within the confines of a glorious stage, only one must take the crown.

So what might happen if the Watchers' top performers compete for the crown?

The Stars of the Show; (wip codenames)

Grian (GR-1AN) | Golden Sun

A child of the Watchers, Grian grew up knowing about his true origin while keeping it a secret from everyone else. He doesn't really want to talk to other performers because of it, and he doesn't see the need to, if he was being honest. He's sick of the life he was forced into, but he performs to survive. He's been doing well so far, enough to be deemed a winner, so he has to be doing something right... right?

Scott (5C-0TT) | Brilliant Star

Once an over rebellious performer, Scott is now the Watchers' best performer out of all winners. After the death of his performing partner, Pearl, Scott has resigned himself to following every whim and command the Watchers give him. He has proved to be a wondrous asset, beating all of his opponents with ease and charm. Though his fellow performers are put off by his attitude, they'd wish to never go against him. He has never lost a match in all of his years of performing.

Pearl (P3-4RL) | Bright Moon

Presumed dead by the public, Pearl works in the shadows to bring the Watchers down. Originally, she and Scott planned to leave together, but after her escape plan went awry she was forced to watch Scott perform alone, silently wishing she was there with him. She has to do this for him. For the rest of the performers, too. She just needs Scott to hold on a little longer, and it'll be like she never left at all.

Martyn (M4-RTYN) | Thrilling Mars

Known for his more aggressive performances, Martyn sets out to keep his audience entertained, even if he's a bit of a hothead. Though, offstage, he tries to make acquaintances with other performers, he can't help but feel a little closed off. He knows death, like everyone else, but it took away Ren. He wouldn't want to strike any more connections than he needs to.... But what's Scott's deal, exactly? Why was he acting like that?

Scar (SC--AR) | Grounding Earth

A bright and cheery performer on the outside, a sick and tired individual on the inside. Scar yearns for the outside world, but he wants to leave with Grian, a man he'd been crushing on for the past few years. He's aware that Grian probably doesn't like him as much as he does, but that distant and longing stare from the man is enough of a conviction that Scar would want to bring Grian with him. Like other performers, Scar is wholly unaware of Grian's origins, and believes that he had a 'normal' upbringing like everyone else.

Cleo (CL-3O-) | Unlabeled as of now

The newest addition in the collection, Cleo is shaken at the thought of performing with more 'dangerous' people. She wants to survive, and hell maybe the others too, but she can't help but be monitored by Scott, or given a distance glance by Grian. All she knows is that she has to get out. The outside world can't be that bad, can it?

Notes;

i want this au to be primarily focused on the winners and their place as the Watcher's 'performers'/captives, but i do want to worldbuild on what had happened to the other lifers!

the fic is probably centered on more platonic bonds overall than anything romantic! completely reasonable if people see some romantic tension haha

100000% theres going to be major character death haha, with the nature of its inspiration id like to mess with that <3 so when i brainstorm further, your favorite lifers may or may not be dead!

bc of the au's nature (since its around singing, with alien stage) im not sure how id write it! i feel writing characters sing is a little hard for me to do, so maybe elaborate dances, hm... its a major part of the story-- and i explicitly dont want them to fight physically!

theres a lot of things i gotta work out the kinks on (whos perspective we follow and whatnot) but i feel i already have the main outline bulleted out! itll be much shorter than tsp so- i think i got it haha

i feel i'll formally work on this after wild life, so whoever becomes this series' winner is probably going to play a vital role :0c i can't incorporate secret or wild into tsp as much but this au can definitely work with those more <3

Spitballing ideas here, mayhaps it could be like a, "reconstruction" kind of thing for the shape henchmaniacs? Bill could have tried recreating them in some shape or form with magic tech or sheer fuckin will, and those versions are gonna be like, "imperfect" or not exxaccttlyyy the same, so it adds to that oh boy crushing guilt aspect or whatever?

Or one may pull some dimensional freaky deaky stuff and get the AXOLOTL involved in some way shape or form?

Honestly what I'm curious about how you're writing the henchmaniac shapes is like, the different designs and stuff they all have. Are their different traits just something you're writing into Euclidya ((like Kryptos having a separate mouth and eye, Hectorgon not having any eyes or legs and having facial hair (also a separate mouth), Amorphous shape not having a mouth but also she's a she and not any specific kind of shape but we know lines aren't women because of tbob so maybe she's just like, really irregular in flatland?))

Like is that going to be normal in Euclydia for different shapes, or are those strange mutations, or is it something they gained after escaping from the dimension? (Shaking from excitement rn channeling my hyperfixation onto this)

Back when I headcanoned they were some of the sparse survivors of Bill's destroyed dimension, my headcanon was "if you've lived a trillion goddamn years, you don't look the way you did when you started." None of them look anything like they did in their home dimension—for starters, why would their eyes/mouths be inside their bodies where, in the second dimension, they'd be useless?

Bill moved his eyemouth inside of his body. Kryptos moved his eyemouth inside his body and also separated it into an eye and a mouth. Hectorgon moved his eyemouth inside his body and decided to make it look more like a mouth. Morph moved their eyes inside their body/bodies. All of them had to get exoskeletons, or else their organs would be constantly exposed and that's a good way to get delicate organs stabbed. Other changes were personal preference. Kryptos wanted weird etchings. Hectorgon wanted to be a hexagonal prism and made himself 3D. Bill realized he'd rather be a pyramid. Etc.

Consider how much a single human could alter their appearance in 100 years with all of the technology currently available to us—amputation, prosthetics, tattoos, piercings, weight gain, weight loss, wrinkles, hair dye, hair loss, testosterone, estrogen, I could keep going. Now take all the changes a human could experience in 100 years—and multiply it ten billion times, and that's how long the shapes have had to alter their appearances with the help of eons of technological/magical developments.

It's amazing they still look even vaguely like the same species.

Now, having said all that:

As of TBOB, literally everything I just typed is now irrelevant and not true, because none of them are Euclideans except for Bill.

They could well look different from him simply due to the fact that they're aliens from another dimension(s). Information/headcanons about Euclydia are irrelevant to species that aren't from Euclydia.

the image I've gotten is reader looks nearly identical to a hylian, with the only real difference being hight and having rounded ears Hylians are short and you can't change my mind over that sgvd but when it comes to eating things? There's a wave of horror as they bite into a fruit they found on the path, and the whole chain gather around them in a panic. Wild with tears in his eyes frantically swiping through his slate to find an antidote, bursting into tears when he can't find anything knowing that there are only a few precious minutes left to act. Rulie trying desperately to heal them with all of his spells knowing that it'll be useless to deal with what they ate. each if the others trying so desperately to get their goodbyes in, thinking that they'll never see them again. then... Nothing.

Reader is fine, shrugging it off after their time should be up but now they have to deal with the chain being more mothering and protective of them. For a few days anyway until their curiosity takes over a little bit, wanting to try things that would be mildly poisonous to them, nothing that could possibly be fatal of course. The biggest shock to them would be things that are safe to them being dangerous to reader instead like if reader was lactose intolerant but didn't mention it until malon got them to try some lonlon milk and they didn't handle it well at all

I have a brain rot for sage, hes challenging the chain for their time with player/reader, he basically wants all His/Her/Them's attention, of course none of the chain and sage are going to "play" fair their going to cheat no matter what. the only ones he might not win against is time, FD and maybe twilight. wind, four, Hyrule, and sky would do sad puppy eyes to get cuddle time, twilight and legend turn into their animal form to get pettings, sage and wild would cook food to get points for being delicious. (etc.etc.) just some yandere shenanigans for attention. the challenges he did were sword fighting, bow and arrow targeting, sparing, arm wrestling, and so forth.

Okay, last one for the night! I figured since this isn't really a request, I could spitball some more of my headcanons for our beloved Sage.

Jk it delted itself so I gave up and went to bed bc last time I tried to push through I wasn't happy with the end product, so sorry for the delay!

For those of you who don't know, Sage is another name for the Tears of the Kingdom Link--dubbed Hero of the Zonai-- should we decide he is not in fact Wild.

For the Wild and Facesitting request, it's in progress I promise! I try to go in order with my requests, but like I said, this is more headcanons versus a scenario. It should be out tomorrow later today so look out for that ;)

ANYWAY-

Y'all. The amount of Sage requests in my inbox right now? You guys are feral for this man and I love it. So I'm here to feed you guys.

・❥・Okay, so lemme start this off by saying. I have done you all wrong. And for that I apologize.

・❥・Because our wonderful @wayfayrr has opened my eyes to new possibilities that I would've never even thought of. So everyone say thank you rn >:(

・❥・So let's make some amendments!

・❥・First off, let's talk about nicknames. I love the idea that Reader, and only Reader, can call him anything other than Sage. And calling him other herb-related nicknames? Kills me. He is a flushing red mess the first time it happens. You had deemed him worthy of a nickname? You considered him person enough to have a moniker that wasn't also a title? If he was down bad before, it's so much worse now. Because you see him as a person. He's sure the others just see him as a means to the end. The second one of them, maybe save Wind, try it, he's shooting them daggers and snarling at them for even daring to try and impeach your privilege. (I also love the Calm, Wild and Feral thing, I thought that was so freaking clever.)

・❥・And you know how each of the hero's have their own 'sword' right? Well, what if Sage's was the Master Sword Remastered? Like Sky's (Like most of their Master Swords actually) but now it's been boosted by ten thousand years worth of direct light magic. (Does the Zonai time fall before Skyward Sword or after? I have no idea where they fall on the timeline tbh.). Just a thought. It could also be a gloom sword which probably wouldn't effect him as hard in other timelines because there's no demon king to power it, but it probably does hurt the others if they try to touch it.

・❥・Now, the juicy part. Let's retouch on Wild's and Sage's relationship. I originally said that Sage was okay with him? I lied. Wayfayrr has opened my eyes.

・❥・Sage probably can't fucking stand Wild. As they said, this is a version of him that didn't have this second adventure. Got to rest and distant himself from the Hero Title. And that just pisses him off. Why did he get the shittier hand? Why did he have to do it all over again? Why when this failure got to get off easy? Why couldn't he have the same grace, huh? What made them so different?

・❥・And if we're using the past oneshot (Here!) as they're 'canon' meeting, this filth let you get hurt. You were hurt before meeting him, which means that they can't be trusted with you. Especially Wild. So Sage cannot stand you being near Wild. At all. It eats at him and he doesn't last long before splitting the two of you up.

・❥・Calamity is even worse. There is probably an active hate towards Calamity (In this Yandere world, in a normal, not toxic world? They probably work out their differences a little better). This was a version of him who didn't even have to die to complete his quest. And this just shows that Fraud has favorites and it's not him.

・❥・You know who else he probably doesn't like? Twilight. Now, hear me out. This is purely me just spitting this out, but Sage has to be aware. He listens when they don't think he does, he's awake when they think he's not, he's watching when they don't even know he's there.

・❥・So he probably picks up on all of their little secrets. Meaning he knows Twilight is Wolfie. And (I think this is Canon is LU but I'm not sure) Wild had Wolfie as a guide. Which means Sage had Wolfie as a guide. The difference? When he needed him the second time, left stumbling around like a newborn fawn crawling out of the shrine all over again, he was left alone. He was fighting robots with a fucking Stick. He fused a mushroom to a shield just to buy himself more time. At one point, he was fusing a long stick to another long stick just to fight from a distance to save his battered body. Rauru did as much as he could, but there were some times he wished he was left for dead.

・❥・Not anymore as that means he would've never met you, but then? different story.

・❥・They also brought up that Sage probably doesn't stop at just cooking your food and I agree. When on the road, he for sure goes straight to the source. If he doesn't know exactly where it came from, it's not going anywhere near his Goddess. Nope. Not a chance in the gloomy depths from hell.

・❥・He's going to farmers themselves rather than merchants for produce, hunting any protein himself, climbing trees for eggs, he probably even makes his own butter. Now, because he's also cooking savy this for sure makes the rivalry between him and Wild widen. Wild is set in his cook for the chain, not you. Sage can't trust them to not hurt you again. Whose to say they don't over spice the food? Or undercook the fish? Or drop shells into the egg?

・❥・He can't trust them and may force you to pick one of the other. Depending on who you chose, he'll either hold his victory up high or work even harder to separate you from the chain. Can't you see, Reader? They aren't good for you.

・❥・When it comes to the Gloom, he for sure uses to his advantage. You know he's been infected, but you don't know how much light he's gathered to dispel it. At this point, he's probably gotten most, if not all of it, out, but you don't know that. And he preys on that fact.

・❥・Oh, the Traveler wants to down to the river with you? But, Reader, there's something rotten in his chest and he's stumbling against trees, exaggerating his steady steps just in case to really sell it. He needs you by his side, can't you see?

・❥・Oh, the captain is trying to get you to settle with him for the night? But, Reader, he's tossing and turning, feigning sleep and acting just enough to catch your attention. He's listening, ears pricked, just to hear you swiftly apologize before your gently hands are laying on his shoulders and he's won again.

・❥・And because his Hyrule is one of, if not the most dangerous Hyrules, he's given so much ammo to keep you tethered to him. You can't trust anyone, don't you know? The Yiga uptake has skyrocketed and they are everywhere, along with Ganon's new ability to make puppets? Can't you see how you can't trust any of them?

・❥・He even entertains you when you come up with the idea to have a secret saying between just the two of you as a fail safe. (It's probably something like 'Deforestation Enthusiast' because of how the two of you met.) Anything to have you pulling further away from the Chain and into his arms.

・❥・If it begins to take longer than expected, Sage is not above letting you wander just enough in his Hyrule. Maybe you set off a bit of Gloom hands (Or maybe he nudges them in your direction, hard to tell, really) and they go charging at you. The others don't know how to deal with them, but he does. He saves your life before the others even know what hit them. He's cooing into your ear, reassuring that where the others fail, he would never dream of it. He's whispering that he knows how scary the feeling of those hands are. He knows how freezing the feeling of sudden restriction, only accompanied by the burning sizzle of malice, is. He knows and he understands, but he's right here. He'd never let anything happen to you. Not like the other frauds.

・❥・Now, all that being said, Sage for sure does not play fair. Oh no. He does challenge them in his own ways, but does it in a way that can only reflect badly on them should they call him out on it.

・❥・He's fighting (Picking apart) with Wars and Calamity on their sparring routines, angling it in just a way that should they snap back he can turn on the innocent little look with a 'But I'm just trying to protect you. I don't know how any of you fight, I'm still learning.' Just in time for you to catch them barking at him to 'Learn faster' and it just falls perfectly into place.

・❥・He's calling out Twi and Four every time they try to wander off (Probably to bring out Wolfie or split to relieve a headache of sorts) because 'The woods are dangerous, what are they doing going off alone?' and now they can't leave because all eyes are on them and he's restricting their movement without even really trying. They wanna go foraging? But he and ...Wild were their best foragers and they were busy with dinner (That was something bitter to get out).

・❥・And wow, Time, Legend and Fierce have so many secrets, can you really trust them? Sage has laid down his entire adventure to you, and regardless if Reader is a LoZ player and knows of them regardless, Sage told you. Those two are trying to hide from you. He would never.

・❥・Wind, Hyrule and that filthy disgrace want to drag you along to go Shield surfing? Reader, do you know how dangerous that is? Especially with someone's track record. Here, you wanna go riding on this motorized wagon he just happens to have on hand? (Between the Zonite in his Purah pad, he can build any component necessary.)

・❥・Not even Sky and First are safe as he uses carefully laid words to sully their once golden image towards you. Afterall, they're so close to Hylia, whose to say they aren't behind all of this?

・❥・Now, you said that the only ones he may not win against are Time, Fierce and Twilight, but like I said, I can imagine him loathing Twilight, so instead, may I suggest First.

・❥・Time and Fierce are both pretty burly dudes that demand some semblance of respect and while Sage has muscles, he's not overly tall. So while he doesn't bow, he may just back off from their forefront for a while.

・❥・Now, First. He's probably the only one who can put Sage back in his place of the hierarchy. It's the first in the timeline, versus the last (As of right now). And it's not pretty. They probably go to blows a few times when you're out of ear shot.

・❥・The problem is that First can only push him back when you're out of ear shot and Sage makes it a point to keep you as close as humanly possible.

・❥・And while yes, some of them may use puppy eyes, Sage is not above using pity to get what he wants because he just hurts so badly don't you know?

・❥・He unfortunately can't do anything about wolves or rabbits. If they manage to disappear before he can call them out on it, he's left bitterly sulking as Wolfie laps at your cheeks or dumb rabbits nose at your hand. He may know who they are, but not even he's cruel enough to call them out (Yet) because that would just pit you against him. They weren't his secrets to tell, you would scold, and he just couldn't handle that possibility.

・❥・The biggest difference between Sage and Wild, one that the chain will fail to realize right away, is that Sage is much more experienced. He is on his second, THIRD if you count the pre-calamity, adventure. He knows everything Wild does, and more. Wild knows how to improvise and adapt, Sage can do it faster. Wild knows how to forage and concoct incredibly potent elixirs? Sage can do it tenfold with half the ingredients. He knows all the little tips and tricks and is not only backed up by the champion's gifts-- should they have remained-- but now he has the sages with him.

・❥・Like imagine their mid-battle, they had forced you away from Sage just to create some distance (At long last) and mans comes rolling in a giant fucking robot. He's using Sidon's sage to shield you over and over again and decimating a battle field using nothing but Riju and an arrow. Hell, the bigger enemies are struck down by Yunobo crashing into them. Sage alone is enough to cut the enemy hordes in half through recall and sending their own attacks back at them or fusing together weapons they wouldn't have ever dreamed of with new abilities. Even his outfits give him benefits far beyond anything they could think.

・❥・You saw him as someone more than just Link. He wasn't just the Swordsman to you when that was who he was to everyone else. You dubbed him something far beyond what a damned sword made him.

・❥・And he would have to be four days dead before letting you go.

・❥・And as he's proven before, Not even death could truly kill him.

kinda spitballing but i can’t help but imagining what it would be like for reader the first time she meets JJ’s dad. like, obv he’d never willing introduce them. but i kinda like to think maybe Luke would show up to their shared apartment (thinking JJ lived their alone) and is so surprised when he sees reader. like “who the hell is this??”

and ofc JJ would be so protective and shielding the reader from Luke like “don’t talk to her” or whatever. idk, what’s your take on this?? <3

he had no idea who you were, but you knew him.

the man who’s made jj’s life hell, leaving him bruised and broken from years on end until he could finally free himself of the curse that was luke. you’d happily opened the door to your shared apartment, smile dropping as soon as you were confronted with the man. even your blood ran cold.

“the fuck are you?” he frowns, swaying a little— clearly drunk.

“i think you may have the wrong address, sorry…” you lie, going to close the door— hoping it was enough to rid of him but he slams a clammy hand against it, holding it open.

“wait, nah — you got a jj maybank here?”

jj had heard his fathers voice, it was a voice he could recognise anywhere and froze in place in the kitchen — momentarily immobilised. what quickly got him moving, was the thought of you having to deal with him, and the blonde quickly arrived beside you, placing a hand on your waist to gently but firmly pull you behind him. luke’s eyes followed the movement, piecing together the fact you were a couple.

“what the hell are you doin’ here?” jj clenches his jaw, holding it high as he looks down his nose at the man who hadn’t changed in years if you minus a few extra grey hairs.

“that any way to greet your old man? what, not g’nna invite me in?” he grins a yellowed smile and you cringe, shrinking back behind jj when the man ogles you for a reaction. jj stands even taller upon seeing this.

“how’d you find my place, pops?” jj stares down at the man’s soaked tank top, the smell of liquor radiating from it fuelled by body heat.

“asked around. this place ain’t so big, you know. anywho, i need a place to stay. just for a few days whilst i get my shit together, crashed the old boat — need to spend some time on land gettin’ a new one. i got a guy comin’ up to see me tomorrow who’s gonna help me with—”

“dad, you can’t stay here.” jj cuts him off, and for a moment you see that same scared little boy inside him, a look of fear flashing across his face. he presses his lips together as his father squints at him.

“and why the hell not? you think you’re fancy now huh—” he starts to raise his voice, but jj cuts him off once more.

“because this is my place. with my girl, and my life. you think you can just show up here after years and treat me like i’m some hotel? nah.” he scoffs out a laugh, shaking his head. “i helped you out for the last time on that dock when you left and i told myself never again, dad. i meant it. leave… now.”

luke shakes his head in disbelief, laughing at the boy in a way clearly meant to belittle him. soon, his drunken gaze finds you once more.

“and what about you doll? hell i might be your father in law one day, will benefit you to be nice to me.” he smiles at you, taking a step closer but jj shoves him back so suddenly he stumbles and falls onto his ass.

“dont talk to her. dont come near her, dont even look at her. get the hell off my property, dad. i mean it.” jj barks, doubling down as he stares down the weak alcoholic on the ground. the old man sniffs, ungraciously picking himself up after a minute, sizing up the blonde.

“‘think i won’t beat your ass like i used to just ‘cos your little girlfriends here?”

your hand finds jj’s arm, stroking the back of it soothingly as if trying to ground him from that traumatic memory. he stares his father down with nothing but disgust.

“go ahead, pops. i’ll just let the cops know where you’re at. would be a real shame to see you back in the clink.”

knowing he’s lost, luke finally leaves and jj stares off at him until he’s certain he’s out of sight and gone for good. exhaling shakily, he shuts the door softly, leaning against it.

“jayj.” you speak softly and he shakes his head, dismissing you with a watery smile and a hand.

“nah i’m good. showed him who’s boss, huh?” he chuckles, but accidentally lets a tear slip down his cheek. before he gets the chance to wipe it, you throw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his neck, listening to him sniffle a little against you.

“you did good jayj. did so good.”

Okay since its an AU and not just like one fic you probably want it to last so I’m just spitballing this idea and feel free to ignore it or give your thoughts or whatever

Vigilante!Reader knocking on Villain!Arlecchino’s door in the middle of the night, after barely getting away from a fight with a different villain. You hit her with the classic “I didn’t know where else to go,” but one look at you and she can tell it’s already too late. With your injuries there’s not a snowballs chance in hell you’ll make it until morning. So she lets you in, tells you to make yourself comfortable. As the hours creep by it slowly dawns on you the conclusion she drew immediately, but you just make light of it. You chat about nothing in particular just to keep your mind off how you’re bleeding out on her couch. An hour later there’s barely any sound in the house, you don’t have the strength to speak anymore. Two hours and it’s dead silent. By the time the sun rises Arlecchino stands over freshly turned soul, silently swearing bloody vengeance on whoever or whatever you were fighting.

My God. I love this so much. The angst potential is so *chef's kiss*. I want to write this rn tbh. I love this exact trope with all of my heart. I don't know why I've yet written a real enemies to lovers series yet.

You are right, though, something like this would end the series, and I wouldn't think this far yet. As I was writing this I was considering this as a side story/alternative universe, but then another idea came to my mind. What if I made this one possible ending to the series (if the series ever gets to that point)?

Or what if I had like a 'choose your own adventure' kind of thing and your guys' collective choice would influence the story or narrative. Like after each part/chapter, I'd have a poll at the end and you guys will have to vote what Reader does next.
