The shadow pointing to a buried treasure
1001 TALES TOLD BY THE MASTER
“All paths can lead to it because in a way it is already achieved. It is within you. You are not seeking something new. You are seeking something which you have forgotten.”
Tumblr media
Pure consciousness can be achieved through many paths. The real thing is not a path. The real thing is the authenticity of the seeker. Let me emphasize this.
You can travel on any path. If you are sincere and authentic, you will reach to the goal. Some paths may be hard, some may be easier, some may have greenery on both sides, some may be moving through deserts, some may have beautiful scenery around them, some may not have any scenery around them, that’s another thing; but if you are sincere and honest and authentic and true, then each path leads to the goal. Krishna has said in Shrimad Bhagavad Geeta, “Whatever path men travel is my path. No matter where they walk, it leads to me.”
So it simply can be reduced to one thing: that authenticity is the path. No matter what path you follow, if you are authentic, every path leads to him. And the opposite is also true: no matter what path you follow, if you are not authentic, you will not reach anywhere. Your authenticity brings you back home, nothing else. All paths are just secondary. The basic thing is to be authentic, to be true.
There is a Sufi story:
A man heard that if he went to a certain place in the desert at dawn and stood facing a distant mountain, his shadow would point to a great buried treasure. The man left his cabin before the first light of day and at dawn was standing in the designated place. His shadow shot out long and thin over the surface of the sand. “How fortunate,” he thought as he envisioned himself with great wealth. He began digging for the treasure. He was so involved with his work that he did not notice the sun climbing in the sky and shortening his shadow, and then he noticed it. It was now almost half of the previous size. He became worried and started digging again in the new spot. Hours later, at noon, the man again stood in the designated spot. He cast no shadow. He became very much worried. He started crying and weeping – the whole effort lost. Now where is the place?
Then there passed a Sufi Master, who started laughing at him and said, “Now exactly the shadow is pointing to the treasure. It is within you.”
All paths can lead to it because in a way it is already achieved. It is within you. You are not seeking something new. You are seeking something which you have forgotten. And how can you really forget it? That’s why we go on searching for bliss, because we cannot forget it. It goes on resounding inside us. The search for bliss, the search for joy, the search for happiness is nothing but the search for God. You may not have used the word “God,” that doesn’t matter, but all searching for bliss is the search for God – is the search for something that you knew, that one day was yours and you lost.
That’s why all the great saints have said “remember.” Buddha calls it samyak smriti, “right remembrance.” Nanak calls it nam smaran, “remembering the name” – remembering the address. Have you not observed many times it happens? You know something, you say, “It is exactly on the tip of my tongue,” but still it is not coming. God is at the tip of your tongue.
In a small school the chemistry teacher wrote a formula on the blackboard, and he asked a small boy to stand up and tell him what this formula represents. The boy looked, and he said, “Sir, it is just on the tip of my tongue, but I cannot remember.”
The teacher said, “Spit it out! Spit it out! It is potassium cyanide!”
God is also on the tip of the tongue, and I will tell you, “Swallow it! Swallow it! Don’t spit it out! It is God!” Let him circulate in your blood. Let him become part of your innermost vibrations. Let him become a song inside your being, a dance.

Life in Rivain - What We Know Going Into Dragon Age: The Veilguard
For the first time in the game franchise, it has been confirmed that players will get the opportunity to explore Rivain. As such, we will finally be learning a lot more about Rivain upon its release. This piece is about the information we have thus far.
Tumblr media
Location & Population
The Kingdom of Rivain, founded in -44 Ancient, is located on the northeastern peninsula of Thedas. Surrounded nearly entirely by water, its only land connection is Antiva.
Those native to Rivain are called Rivaini. Just like any nation in Thedas, there are different racial/ethnic backgrounds who live there – however, the majority of Rivain’s population is Black.
There is also a notable qunari population in Rivain, dating back to when they arrived in Thedas in 6:32 Steel. Kont-aar still exists as a large Qunari settlement in the northern part of the nation – it is regarded as peaceful.
The capital of Rivain is Dairsmuid, which sits on the Rialto Bay. Dairsmuid is the only place in Rivain that has any real Chantry control.
Relations
Because Rivain has a lot of flavour profiles found only in the northern part of Thedas, other nations highly value their food exports. As Rivain is friendly with the Qunari, they are willing to trade in Seheron, too.
Rivain has a “less-than-cordial” relationship with Tevinter. It also has an unserious rivalry with Antiva.
Culture
The Rivaini are traditionally a matriarchal society, believing that women are best suited to rule. Major decisions within a community rest on the head of elder women, who is often a Seer (see: Magic).
Rivain has a currency-based economy. However, there is, generally speaking, a greater value placed in making sure everyone has what they need over monetary gain. For example, if one community has a bad year the neighbouring communities will send supplies and labour to ensure its people do not suffer.
“The Rivaini people trace their roots to pantheist ancestors, and many in Rivain still believe that their god and the universe are one in the same.” —Dragon Age: The World of Thedas vol. 1
Rivain is has the most diverse range of spiritual beliefs in Thedas, because the Chantry failed to become the monopoly like they did everywhere else. The three most common spiritualties are Andrastianism, the Qun, and unnamed traditional Pantheism beliefs.
Daily life for an average citizen of Rivain differs greatly across the nation, because it is such a patchwork of cultures that co-exist in relative peace. Life in Kont-aar for example, is structured by the Qun, where life in a remote village in the southern tip would likely be highly influenced by the Raiders who call Llomerryn home.
Magic
Traditional Rivaini beliefs hold their Seers in high regard. Seers are female mages who specialize in peacefully communicating with spirits and even intentionally invite them into their bodies. They act as wise women and leaders of their communities, for whom people go to for guidance.
Twice a year, the Seers of Rivain gather in Dairsmuid to meet in council, forge trade agreements, and publicly pledge loyalty to Rivain's queen. This is called the Allsmet, and it is a fully celebrated festival with lavish feasts, gift exchanges, ceremonial gatherings, and music.
There was a single Rivaini Circle of Magi, located in Dairsmuid, but it existed largely as a façade to appease the Chantry. Unfortunately, when the Chantry sent Seekers to inspect the Circle in 9:40, they discovered the mages breaking Chantry law. The mages were allowed to freely be with their families, and were training female mages as Seers. The Seekers they invoked the Right of Annulment; they murdered all the mages of the Circle, and destroyed their library of books and artifacts.
Lords of Fortune
The Lords of Fortune are a guild of treasure hunters and dungeoneers, based out of Rivain. They can be identified by the decorations they were all over their body; trinkets they’ve collected over their years of treasure hunting. Sometimes they are hired by others to help out on a job, while other times they seek their own adventure. Anyone of any race can become a Lord of Fortune.

Theitsa, I had the misfrotune of stubling onto r/hellenism recently, and wow they really hate Greeks! But why then worship a HELLENIC religion that sprung out of the conciousness of HELLENES, that are indigenous to HELLAS? Its dumbfounding. Anyone can believe what they they feel is right to them, but why venerate a Greek religion when you clearly dont like Greece or Greeks?
I am sure most of these LARPers only got into Greek religion through western pop culture, quite shallow. Just like most people that venerate the Norse gods got into it through Marvel movies and the like lol I bet if it was Mongolian spiritualty and religion that was in popular media, they would worship that instead. Besides, I dont see many people lament, cry, piss and shit over Swedes not being polytheistic anymore. Why is that?
And you KNOW that the only reason they feel so entitled to Greek culture is becase of the long history of the west appropriating it and glorifying Classical Greece (Athens), but they try so hard to justify it.
I wish westerners would understand that trying to separate Greeks from their heritage and history will not make their anglo asses any closer to or more connected to Greek history and culture. They should accept their own heritage and embrace it.
Ok rant over lol
When I saw r/hellenism I knew what was coming 😭 Not to say that everyone there is horrible but I've been avoiding this subreddit because this behaviour was prevalent. What was discussed there felt so out of touch with "worship" and it was a bit more like LARPing. It sad that it hasn't changed yet.
If you don't mind me asking, what did you see that made you want to rant? (You don't have to provide links)

Shinchū-神虫 Divine Insects hailing from a distant continent prowl the forested lands, not in search of humans, but disease spreading demons. Their imposing size coupled with powerful limbs and razor-like appendages and stingers make them an enemy of utter dread. When Fowl spirits and Yokai encounter Shinchu, they will be torn apart in a berserk fury, horribly mangled and crushing the unholy beings into a unrecognizable paste. In this zealous fervor they can be lost for days at a time maiming and eradicating thousands upon thousands of demons. These miraculous beings play a key role in protecting humans reach enlightenment through meditative practices, Should any malicious entity try to interfere with their burgeoning spiritualty, will incur a most holy wrath from these empyrean beings.

Tumblr media
Poppet, I want you to know it took me three tries to answer this ask because I kept getting choked up. Sometimes I forget that I've been doing this Advice for Beginner Witches gig for like ten years now and in that time, little witchlings grow up a considerable amount.
Getting messages like this reminds me why I keep up with the work. I'm so glad that you've found my material useful and I hope it's helped you to build a practice that's fulfilling and empowering and feeds your spirit and brings you joy.
Thank YOU for checking in and best of luck to you always! 💜

30 day tarot spread challenge
Tumblr media
ok so I have alot of tarot decks that I don't use as often as I'd like, so im gonna go a 30 day tarot/oracle spread challenge to become more familiar with all of my decks- you can do this along with me, at the end of the thirty days I'll compose a post with all the spreads in one place so more people can do it if they want too!
Day 1/30
Spread: ''this is me'' spread by Cat Crawford
Tumblr media
decks I'm using: the pulp tarot, spirit ally's oracle deck.
My reading:
card one, the moon: the moon is a very spiritual card to get for ''what my soul is crying out for.'' The moon is all about unconscious desires, intution, instinct- the card itself shows a pair of wolfs holding a telescope and howling at the moon. so I wonder if this is trying to tell me that my soul is litterally crying out for intuitive insight and a deeper connection with subconscious forces? My soul wants me to take a closer, intimate look at what my dreams and subconscious has to say. like how people use the telescope to inspect the moon, the stars, the abstract shapes in the sky, my soul wants me to inspect the craters in my unconscious, to be curious and willing to explore them. My soul is yearning for a more profound relationship with the side of me that's turned away from the light, for the side of the moon that's never lit if you will. this is making me think of shadow work, meditation, dream work.
Card two, seven of swords: This is also a juicy card to get for the question ''what you conscious mind is saying.'' the seven of swords possesses a secretive quality, if this this represents the attitude my conscious mind has towards my soul's desires, then the attitude is very much ''go away, get out of my sight.'' my conscious mind feels the need to dismiss and repress intuitive guidance, and traits of my shadow self. The image on the deck im using shows a woman stashing papers and cash away into a safe, so I feel like this is definitely communicating that on a conscious level, I feel the need to hide and repress aspects of my soul and aspects of my shadow into a safe space that no one can access. my conscious mind wants to deceive and hide, and meanwhile, my soul wants to uncover.
Card three, ten of swords: this card depicts the conflict being created between the souls' desires and the conscious mind's desires. the ten of swords in my deck depicts the aftermath of a crime scene, with the blood staining the floor and the swords on top. The ten of swords itself is about trauma, painful but necessary endings, conflict, crisis. I think this card is trying to tell me that the wounds im creating internally are a result of this rift between my spiritual and conscious mind, the card can be about betrayal, so I literally interpret this as me betraying myself by doing this.
Card four. Lakshmi: this showing up as what will help me with my souls' desires is cool to me. this is one of the Hindu goddesses that I know the most about, I love everything about her LMAO. Shes the goddess of abundance and beauty, and each of her four arms represent different characteristics of her divinity. She represents the energy I need to embody in order to reconnect and fulfill what my soul is yearning to do. The oracle card guidebook focuses on the act of gratitude and seeking abundance from several sources other than monetary ones. I think when it comes to fulfilling my soul's objective, this is a call to be more mindful of how much I really have in terms of family, opportunity and growth, I need to be more appreciative towards my shadow side instead of dismissive of it.
Tumblr media
Review of the spread/cards used:
The reading defiantly accurately portrays the tension between my subconscious and conscious mind. I do desire to connect with my shadow side and spiritualty more, but there's a blockage on a conscious level that makes me want to hide and tuck away any potential guidance I could receive. self-reflection is not hard for me to do, but meditation, dream work and going inwards can be difficult for me to do in a spiritual lense. My mind is always on, always analyzing and reacting to whatever junk my subconscious spews, and it makes it difficult to see what the more intuitive side of me has to say. This voice deserves more strength than what it's been allowed to exercise.
I feel like the pulp tarot carries so much opportunity to do deep, spiritual readings than people may realize. The cards perfectly display the retro aesthetic of pulp magazines and art, but they also have so much thought and symbolism to work with in it as well. I chose this deck because I dont use it as much as I thought I would when I got it because so used to using my rider waite deck (probably because it's the first deck i owned,) but im glad I tried this spread with the deck. The spirit ally's oracle is interesting because it has gods, goddess, plants, crystals, zodiac signs so there's alot of readings you can do with deck that can be both practical and spiritual. Anyways, I think tomorrow Im going to do a shadow work tarot spread to stay true to the message I got today!

I understand you say you are a secular witch but I have also seen you mention star worship and the like - wouldn't that be considered religious?
i think that my beliefs have certainly evolved over time - i never really had a great grasp on religion as a whole, being raised catholic but not feeling like i belonged in the church or believing in that version of god any way. i went through a period of atheism, agnosticism, pantheism, etc. i may not be traditionally "religious" but i am not sure i would consider my practice "secular" anymore.
if we view non-secular witchcraft as witchcraft with organized religion and the worship of personified deities, then yeah i would be a secular witch. but i think that definition differs from person to person.
the best way to describe my relationship with the planets is astrolatry - aka, worship of the celestial bodies, revering them as deities or gods, etc; but not personifying them or giving them human like qualities and without anthropomorphism.
i guess i could also be considered an animist the way i consider that all things have innate energy, some would call them "spirits" (water spirit, fire spirit, things along those lines); and how i believe the spiritual world definitely intertwines with the mundane.
all in all, my spiritualty is ever-changing, but at my core, i am an astrolater. all celestial bodies and their energy is divine to me.

Pinecones In Hoodoo + A Pinecone Fertility Charm.
Tumblr media
This is a Original piece of digital art by me. A statue of a woman holding a pinecone charm.
First I just wanted to give a little history of pinecones.
Pinecone In History. In Mexico there is a god called “Chicomecoatl” sometimes depicted with an offering of pine cones in one hand, and an evergreen tree in the other. In Hindu their are deities that are often depicted holding a pine cone. The Egyptian Staff of Osiris from (1224 BC) depicts two spiraling snakes rising up to meet at a pine cone. In Ancient Assyrian there is a carvings from (713-716 BC) depicting winged people holding pine cones.
Celts, used pine cones for fertility charm. . Romans used them for the goddess of love Venus. But there are to many others to add to this post.😁
In Rome, the pope wears a pine cone carved into the holy staff that's used in religious ceremonies. There's a huge gargantuan bronze pine cone statue at the Vatican in Rome. 👇
Tumblr media
All of these depictions of pine cone are symbols of spiritualty; and let's not forget durning the Winter Solstice (Christmas) people have pinecones on their altars.
Pinecone Purification,Cleansing & Banishing: Burning the tree's pine needles or using pine oil can the strong fresh scent. in the south it's been used to increase your energy when you're feeling stuck in life, it purify the spirit & clear the mine & heal the body.
The energy of Pine smoke can also be used rituals or ceremonies to help release negative energy.
Making Pinecone Incense Sticks: You can easily make your own pine incense stick by tie pine needles. BUT LET the sticks dry for about two weeks before use. (If you can't find pine cones or needles you can buy the Incense or the Pine Oil)
Tumblr media
Left Male & Right Female
Now that you have a little idea on pine cones in hoodoo it's one of the most effective charms to used if you are trying to conceive.
How To Tell Which Is Which? To start pinecones comes in male and female. The Male pine cones do not make the hard-shell it is soft and spongy and it's shell closer together. The Female pine cones is the had shell and it's shell is further apart.
Hoodoo Fertility Charm: Get yourself a female pinecone. Drizzle the cone with some Honey.
Next add some hair from the head of the (female) and the (male's) head of the couple who is trying to conceive. Now place the hair in the honey on the pinecone.
Last get a small white plate and a make X in salt from one end to the plate to the other, place the cone in the middle of the plate.
READ PRAYER. Lord, I'm asking you for a child. Your word says you will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4), and this is my greatest desire. I want to be a parent. I want to raise a child to love and serve you all of his/her life.
Place the plate under your bed and have sex, more the once if you want.🥰 ❤️ afterwards take that pinecone and bury it in your yard.

Hello, how are you? Can I ask for an oracle reading please? I wanted to know regarding my future husband's and my relationship dynamic in our marriage. Thanks a lot 💞 - T
I was drawn to my Spirit of the Animals Oracle deck. I lit a candle, channeled your energy, and asked "What do I need to know about my relationship with my future husband?”
Here's the results: (1. their traits. 2. Life together 3. Future together)
Puffin: Acceptance of self, companionship, loyal, hard worker, good parent, sensual.
Your future spouse will like to dress nicely and want to strut their stuff. This doesn't mean they are self absorbed as they see beauty in life and the things in it. They are full of contrasts so look deep to see the true them and not what is shown on the surface. This person makes a great parent and wants a long term partnership. They are not one to flit from partner to partner. They focus on the positive in others and themselves rather than the negative attributes.
2. Bison or Buffalo as known in USA: Survival, strength, virility, prayer, abundance.
This person strives to connect with the spirituality of their choice. This may be a combination of spiritualties where they make their own prayers and ceremonies. They tend to pull the positivity of the puffin doing this. They are accepting and proud. They naturally prosper in their chosen area's of pursuit. They are a bit mysterious since they don't follow the norm in certain areas of life. Being creative or artistic could explain this.
3. Sea Otter: happy, inner joy, sharing, family, faithfulness, caring, spontaneous
The Sea Otter brings happiness and joy. They love to be surrounded by family and are protective of them. Faithfulness comes naturally and they don't understand why they'd want to stray once they find their true partner. A life with this person will be full of fun, good times, family, and connections. They have an inner playfulness some call an inner child. This will never leave them and can be a source of laughter and joy for those around them.
Final input from these: You will need to believe in yourself and have confidence in order to attract your future partner. Once you have found each other you will have a generally abundant life full of family and good times. No relationship is perfect but this person is one who will want to work through troubles instead of run from them. They are a life partner and are willing to put in the work to make the relationship with their chosen one last. However, they expect the same from their spouse. A one sided union without the common outlook on making things last, joy of life, faithfulness, and hard work aren't something that are acceptable to them.
Hope this helped. Please give feed back, preferably positive so I can improve, if you can.
