'You're such a twat.'

Sirius lifted his fuzzy head from his shaking hands to find Regulus standing beside the library table he'd been camped out at for the past 16 hours. His younger brother's back was ram-rod straight, his face paler than usual with his anger. Sirius, tired and distraught, had to fight against the urge to flinch away from the other boy's near tangible disapproval.

'Nice shiner, by the way,' Regulus added, no hint of amusement in his tone as he appraised the purple swelling around Sirius' eye. It had only stopped throbbing about an hour ago, but Sirius had been purposefully pressing at it, trying to feel some of his internal pain in a more physical way. It hadn't been helping.

'What do you want, Reg?' Gods, even his voice sounded ruined. Probably from having cried for so long ...

'I want you to acknowledge, once and for all, that you're a complete and utter twat,' Regulus drawled, raising one eyebrow and crossing his arms over his chest.

'What for this time?' Sirius sighed, scrubbing at his good eye. He really wasn't in the mood for this, but his relationship with Regulus was just beginning to heal, and they had both been making a concerted effort to be on their best behaviour with each other recently. He had to forcefully remind himself of that when Regulus scoffed.

'Fair question. This time, it's for what you did to Lupin.' Sirius' head snapped up so fast that he heard his neck crack. His eyes were almost painfully wide as he gaped at Regulus, who continued as though nothing had changed. 'It's one thing to abandon your family, Sirius. It's another thing entirely to actively endanger two students. One of whom has spent literal years of his life doing his utmost to avoid anyone finding out about his ... Monthly problem.'

Sirius' mind was whirling so fast with the revelations pouring out of his brother that all he could think to say was, 'You know?!'

'Of course I fucking know,' Regulus spat, his eyes - so like Sirius' own in so many way - narrowing to sharp slits. 'It doesn't take a genius to put these things together. The scarring, the fatigue and limping after the full moons, the way he looks ready to eat anyone who so much as breathes near him in the days leading up to it ...'

Despite himself, Sirius felt his heart-rate quicken, panic swamping him as he turned the words over in his head. Regulus knew. He knew about Moony, had been able to work it out. It was another risk to Remus, and Sirius couldn't stop his mind from spiralling as he assessed the danger, as he wondered what he could offer his brother to make him keep the secret. But Regulus huffed and rolled his eyes before Sirius could even speak.

'Luckily, most of the students in this place are too stupid or too self-absorbed to look into these things.' Sirius swallowed his rising bile and stared at his brother, waiting for him to go on. Regulus was frowning again as he growled, 'Calm down, I'd have nothing to gain from exposing him. Besides, it takes a pretty shitty person to betray a secret like that. Especially if it's one of your best friends' secrets.'

Sirius tried to pretend that the words weren't an icy dagger through his heart as he stuttered, 'But how ... How did you -'

'People can be quite careless with what they'll share when they think they have nothing left to lose,' Regulus murmured, his face shifting into mild disgust and annoyance as he slipped into the chair opposite Sirius'. 'I stumbled across him in the Astrology Tower last night on my Prefect's rounds, and he spilled the whole story. You're all just very lucky that it was me who ran into him at the right time.'

'I really fucked up, Reg,' Sirius muttered, looking down at his hands. The skin around his nails was cracked, dried blood crusting along the cuticles from where he'd been relentlessly picking at them.

'I would say that is a vast understatement,' Regulus sniffed. 'But I didn't just come here to tell you how pathetic and worthless you are. Seems you're already doing a good enough job of that yourself. I actually came to tell you that you should apologise to him.'

'I already tried,' Sirius grumbled, indicating his bruised face. He thought he saw Regulus bite back against a laugh, but decided to let it go. He deserved much worse than his kid brother laughing at him right now.

'Well, then you try again,' Regulus said. 'And you keep on trying, until the day that he's ready to hear it. And you do that, Sirius, because if you don't, you are going to lose yourself in all of that lovely fear and self-loathing that Mother so kindly instilled in us from an early age, and you will ruin not only yourself but everything around you. Lupin included.'

Sirius blinked, trying to wade through what Regulus was saying. Was his brother trying to be ... Nice??

'Why are you telling me this?' he asked, trying and failing to keep the suspicion out of his voice.

'Because despite what you may think, Lupin and I actually have quite a lot of things in common. And one of those things is that we both still care about you, against all evidence that it's not advisable for our wellbeing.'

The mixture of grief and hope and guilt and shame was so hopelessly tangled inside him that all Sirius could do was burst into tears. If what Regulus was saying was true, then some part of Remus still cared about him, even after the awful thing that he'd done. That meant that there could still be a chance at fixing this, at righting the pain he had caused Remus. But he knew that even if he did somehow make this right, he would still have to carry it with him for the rest of his days.

The weight of those emotions were so all-encompassing that it was a while before Sirius felt something tapping lightly at his shoulder. When he felt able to, he wiped away his tears and looked up to find that Regulus, looking deeply uncomfortable, was awkwardly patting at him, seemingly in an attempt to comfort him. The gesture was nearly enough to set him off again.

'He hates me,' Sirius breathed instead, trying to focus on one area of progress at a time.

'As he should, considering what you did,' Regulus sniped, retracting his hand and leveling his solumn gaze at Sirius. 'But that doesn't meant that he won't forgive you, one day. Not now, not tomorrow, maybe not for months. But if you give up, Sirius, he'll never understand that what you did has hurt you almost as much as it has hurt him. And if you never let him see that, then you will truly lose him forever.'

'When did you become such an expert on these things?' Sirius sniffled, reluctant to admit that what his younger brother had said was incredibly logical and also surprisingly motivating. He was suprised when the other boy's mouth flicked up momentarily in a barely-there smile as he leaned across the table towards him.

'I read,' Regulus whispered conspiratorially, almost making Sirius laugh. Almost. Then the uncharacteristic mirth was gone, and Regulus was standing, smoothing his crease-free robes. He turned away, but paused to add, 'Oh, and by the way, you can tell Potter that he can back off now.'

'You've talked to James?' Sirius breathed, his ribs aching as though someone were trying to force them apart, to split him open. Although being ignored by Remus was soul-crushing, it was still a close contest as to whether it was his silence or James' that was hurting Sirius the most.

'He has been talking at me,' Regulus clarified, then suddenly adopted a strangely lax posture, his face taking on an artificial optimism and sincerity, and Sirius blinked at the uncanny likeness of James as his brother burbled, 'I can't talk to him, because he royally fucked up, but I can't let him spiral, so you have to catch him for me.' Regulus shook his head, and immediately he was his cold, calculated self again as he stalked away, shooting back over his shoulder, 'I don't care how you do it, but he is to be informed that he has been returned to my list of people who do not exist. Consider it payment for my sage advice.'

And then Regulus was gone, sweeping away without a trace left that would indicate that he'd ever actually been there. But the things he'd said, the way he'd pulled together the floundering parts of Sirius' mind and given him a clear path out of all of this? There was no way that Sirius would ever be able to forget what his brother had done for him.

Wiping his face on his sleeve, he sighed heavily, then reached for a roll of parchment, and began to write down everything he had never said to Remus, but had always meant to, in the hopes that something might come up that he'd be able to use to explain what he'd done.

He got a little lost when the first thing that came out of his quill was, I love you.

when I started shipping it if I did: When I first saw the gun scene 🫣 I saw Mello pointing a gun at Near's head while Near gave him his photo upon which he had written Dear Mello and from there it spiralled :D

my thoughts: It's canon TO ME. Specifically only on Near's side (at least romantically), but I do think that Mello gets bitchslapped with the realization that "Oh shit I actually do care about that little twerp >:0" sometime after he finds out about Near's plan. I love them deeply. The idea of future Near, Detective L and his leather-clad guard dog, the lion and the lamb, together at last, is so sweet to me. Near's happiest when he's playing with Mello, and Mello's at his best when he's playing against Near. They grew up together. They were supposed to be two names under one title. They should've been together forever. They should've run away together. Both of them would never run from a fight. It was always going to end this way but it didn't have to be like this. Dear Mello I Guess I'm Going To Have To Do It INDEED

what makes me happy about them: When they bicker 🥰 They're racing against time to solve a case and solve it before the other one even as Near sits in Mello's lap clinging to his chest while Mello calls his contacts and Rester holds a laptop up for Near behind his head. Mello calling Near a fucking idiot, an arrogant weak little sheep, all while cuddling him close with his mouth against his pulse so he can feel his heart beat 💕 I love the dichotomy of their words and actions and it makes me stupidly giddy lmao

what makes me sad about them: The fact that Mello's dead and Near will never love or feel again :') Because of the circumstances of their childhood Mello would never get close to Near, would never want to work with him, and in stark contrast it was that same childhood that made that all Near ever wanted 🥹

things done in fanfic that annoys me: Uhhh I don't really have one for this? I haven't read enough Meronia to really find something I get truly annoyed at lol. I guess I don't like it when they make Mello too pathetic or too goofy, but that's it ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

things I look for in fanfic: Honestly? Genuinely one-sided attraction from Near. That's my favorite fucking thing ever; Near being ass over tits in love with Mello, fucking obsessed with him, and Mello finding out about it and being subsequently appalled and intrigued in incredibly inequal measure. That's all I've ever wanted out of life 🙏

who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I wouldn't mind Near ending up with Light, Minoru (thanks to Moon), Rester, or even Beyond. I could be convinced of other ships but these are the ones I find most intriguing. Mello I think I'd only ship with either Rod or L. Otherwise it's PINE TIME BITCH >:D

my happily ever after for them: They live to go on and solve cases, reform Wammy's into something less Orphan-Factory-esque, and quietly get married. They then spend the rest of the time taking on cases and being ungodly competitive before Mello gets too old to do field work, upon which they retire from detective work entirely and spend the rest of their days wrapped up in each other. When they die Near gets put in Mello's coffin with him, just like he asked 💗

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Near is the big spoon when they're awake, but Mello becomes the big spoon as soon as they fall asleep. Near clings whether he's conscious or not but Mello only clings when he's unconscious, and he is quite a bit taller than Near after all.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Chasing serial killers and trying to one up each other, of course ✨

The Sword of Sealing clattered to the rubble strewn floor, its blade baptised with blood.

Soon enough Usagi’s red heels stood amidst a small pool of blood, all of it spilling from Galaxia’s gut. And yet, seeing the lifeless body of her greatest enemy brought Usagi no joy. 

Her eye roamed across the cracked damaged ground, falling upon what remained of her Moon Monarch Sceptre. It had been forged from the Cutie Moon Rod and the Spiral Moon Heart Rod. Her mother’s love and Mamo-chan’s. Her past and her future all in one, much like her La Cygne form. A half-way point between who she was and used to be…and who she was supposed to become…

The cruel irony of it all hit her like a truck.

She would never become Neo-Queen Serenity.

She would never give rise to Crystal Tokyo.

She would never give birth to Chibi-Usa.

Tears streaming down her eyes, Usagi looked around at the ravaged ruins of the Ginga-TV station. Some part of her still believed, still hoped that any minute now they would reappear. But they didn’t. They were gone. Every Star Seed harvested by Galaxia was gone. In killing Galaxia, in sealing Chaos for good, Usagi had saved everyone on Earth… except for the ones that mattered most to her.

She let out a pained sob and fell to her knees, not caring how Galaxia’s blood was staining her legs. 

Usagi’s grief consumed her. All she could do was weep tears that seemed like they’d never end.

“...Bun-head…”

At the softly spoken words, Usagi felt gentle arms embrace her.

“You did what you had to do. Thanks to you, Galaxia has been stopped for good. 

 It was an embrace of affection, of understanding . After all, they had lost someone precious too, and with them, their whole world. And, slowly, without really thinking about it, Usagi embraced Seiya back…

the holiday season is in full swing right now. i know i have been awfully quiet these past few weeks, but i was busy getting everyone’s gifts ready. everyone knows that this time of year has been resorted to who gave the best gift and how many gifts were given, so don’t worry, i have a gift for everyone. 

the gift of truth. there is nothing more rewarding and giving than clarity.

it is no secret that our resident freeloader, phil deville has gotten himself in trouble with just about everyone he knows. everyone loves a good sleeping with the enemy story, but sleeping with your practical sister? i thought those old traditions died decades ago. my heart goes out to lil and chuckie; both of them seem to be losing their minds and the little gang of rugrats is falling apart. kimi, we knew you liked guys that were bad for you, but we never expected you to pick the weirdest and worst choice yet!

speaking of bad choices, our new resident slut, max dennison is making the worst ones. who knew a guy with no personality would be such a catch to the women of animania? it must be that new town smell. he claims he is head over heels about his ex, but has already fallen into the arms of resident vixen, daisy dubois. the best part is that her notorious ex charlie is too busy being a doting friend to our favorite ray of sun to even care or notice. we’re sure that has her all kinds of crazy, but not to worry; when her friend sarah isn’t too busy shoving her tongue down her ex’s throat, the infamous billy butcherson, they are normally seen together howling at the moon and plotting ways to torture the men of animania. oh no. was that supposed to be a secret?

kit charming is losing his touch. it seems our prince is cheating on his fiance with his mystery woman, who we all know is a certain maid around the charming estate and he probably thinks he will be able to follow his heart and live happily ever after; wrong! there is already rumors circulating that daddy is pissed and that he is going to find him a newer, richer, fiance as soon as this one is over with. who could this new woman be? stay tuned with  to find out! all i have to say is...shame on him. so much for princely.

things are as dysfunctional as ever in the house of hades. harold is too busy trying to win his ex back that he is neglecting his sons, especially poor paul. he is clearly spiraling onto the stiff stick of claude cogsworth to ease the neglect. harold is so blind to his ex’s darkening shadow that he can’t even see that she is sleeping with the resident skeleton man. she’s moved on, so it’s your turn too. while he is failing to take the hint, meg is failing to take the more obvious one. i don’t even have to bother linking the video of her french beau sucking the face of a familiar redhead, because it’s already all over the internet. between hooking up with her and our resident star, sharpay evans, he has made it more than clear that keeping his stiff rod in his pants is not something he can do. the only one who looks pathetic and weak at this point, is meg. it’s so sad seeing the former damsel in distress turning into that girlfriend. i never thought i would see such a strong woman become such a laughing stock so fast.

now, onto some good news! it is wendy darling’s birthday today, so naturally, i have an excellent gift to give her; evening the playing field. everyone thinks that tiara is one of the innocent players in this game, but she isn’t. in fact, while she has been pining over peter, she has also been sleeping with his best friend nibs as well. hope you like the gift, and may it bring you some clarity. it seems like tommy pickles is out of the game now too, since he has been spotted with a certain crimefighting redhead. anything is possible, right? i should warn you though, wendy.  the pacifica northwest has entered as a new player for peter’s heart, so better seal that deal quickly. can’t wait to see how rosie leads this friendship support meeting! maybe she can pine over another man not interested in her in the process. and michelle? being so blind to the fact that the lost boy she gets all giggly over is not into her is just...so michelle of her.

before i wrap this up, i would like to give a personal shout-out to willow vanderquack. congrats! nothing worthy to report and being the only person capable of figuring out who i am is lost on you entirely. i have to give you the flowers you deserve.

the former monarch is a secret boss that can be found in the hidden ruins of the moon kingdom - which is currently entirely inhabited entirely by heartless. the challenge of confronting her isn’t simply within the fight itself but actually reaching her as well. each of the inner senshi lost their hearts after protecting their queen and now their heartless patrol the grounds of the palace. the heartless are based off each senshi’s original element and are fought in order of their ranking within the team itself ( meaning minako’s heartless is the strongest and last to be defeated ). once each girl’s heart is freed, sora will receive the holy sword which grants him, and only him, entry into the palace.

serenity can be found deeper within the palace, inside a flooded area full of broken crystals and pillars ( her former throne room ). sora’s presence triggers her transformation from her royal attire into her sailor cosmos fuku which initiates the fight. her most noticeable trait in combat is just how fast she is - both on foot and in the air due to her wings. while not much of a heavy hitter, she gathers strength from the moon which increases her magic damage output. her specialization is in light based attacks with many of them, as well as her movements, being derived from her canon attacks ( meaning she’s spinning around a lot ).

another frequent mechanic during this fight is time - which acts as another hint as to who she is related to. serenity is capable of rewinding or even slightly fast forwarding time in order to place sora in vulnerable positions or easily counter attacks ( toki wo tomare! ). when her total hp left reaches down to 5%, she’ll perform moon healing escalation - which both heals her up to 30% and causes pillars of light to rotate around the arena. should sora be caught by one then his health will be depleted to one HP.

her final desperation attack activates once her health has been whittled back down to 10%: serenity will rise into the air, her keyblade transforming into the spiral heart moon rod before calling out ‘ rainbow moon heartache! '. ribbons of light and crystal butterflies will wrap around serenity as she floats above her throne, acting as a barrier from reaching her while clones of herself relentlessly ambush sora. if her shield isn't broken in time, serenity will softly utter ' silver moon crystal eternal power ': an instant-kill move which will transform the floor of the arena into a sea of stars that will suck sora inside and drain their hp to 0 ( this is a reference to the galaxy cauldron ).

once defeated, she briefly hints at her past before teleporting sora out of the palace and making it inaccessible again. as a reward for surviving the palace and setting her friends' hearts free, sora is granted the phantom crystal keychain. while it’s not as strong as the real phantom crystal key, it’s no typically keyblade either:

a powerful, light-based keyblade that highly favors magic-use. when equipped, it raises magical damage output and increases the speed at which the MP bar regenerates by 80%.

the keyblade grants the wielder the ability to use the situational command salvation and is capable of transforming into the moon kaleidoscope by activating the moon gorgeous meditation command ( yes, sora must do the sequence ). the keyblade has a second transformation where the moon kaleidoscope transforms into the eternal tiare, a long staff capable of long distance attacks. the finisher for the keyblade is silver moon crystal power kiss ( feathers and all ).

serenity’s boss theme: i’ve specifically linked it so it begins at 1:14 as i feel that’s a more fitting tone on how the battle should begin. i love how ominous it sounds before the track continues to build until you hear the familiar melody of moonlight densetsu.

journal entry: lady in white model: pre-transformation | transformed 

an enigma that now haunts the ruins of a mysterious palace in a melancholic trance. despite her ‘serene’ appearance, she proved to be more than a challenge for sora as their keyblades clashed under the light of kingdom hearts.
