The Secret Between Us After the Night You Drove Me Home Six Months Ago
The shadows of the floral sheer curtains set on our bodies/ how sweet /
I'm in hell/ you make my body electric like it’s the firs time / My stomach tightens / pink rose cheeks /
You tell me you love me/ like a faint heartbeat /
Your phone vibrating in your jacket with a voicemail/ asking you to pick up wine for the party /
The red burn knees/ your wedding ring in my hair
My phone with a unread text asking if I’m coming/
I always tell you it’s over but you say I’ll come back to you
and if I don't how sad it would be to see this all go
But you know I will

Land of One Thousand Islands - A Serialized Fantasy Novel: Page 21
Asa and Nala are a brother and sister growing up in a fishing village on a remote island in a far away land. When an invading army captures their village they escape and set off on an epic adventure to save their land…
Asa barely paused to strip down to his undergarments and strap a knife to his hip before diving into the water. The cool water was blissful against his skin after sitting in the sun all morning long. He paddled down to the shelf he had seen from the outrigger, exhaling a jet of bubbles as he went. In a few swift strokes, he was gliding about the shelf and surveying the bed of oysters he found there. The light from above danced around, revealing several large clusters and he could have his pick. He slipped his knife from its sheath and pried two choice specimens free before deciding he needed to surface again.
Asa rotated underwater until his feet found purchase on the outcropping and then launched himself towards the surface. As he let the water carry him upwards a sea turtle, oblivious to his presence, floated gracefully by. Asa considered swimming along with the turtle, but decided he didn’t have enough air for it. He told himself that he would catch up to the turtle next time. Sea turtles were plentiful in the bay so he could be patient until his next encounter. Asa continue up and surfaced next to the outrigger, where Nala was watching him with what appeared to be annoyance.
“You forgot your basket,” she said, her voice flat. She dangled a weight collection basket over the side to him.
“I was too excited to wait,” he said, unable to keep himself from smiling.
He grabbed onto the side of the outrigger until his arms and chest were over the edge. He let his arms dangle inside and dropped the two oysters into the bottom of the outrigger, where they clattered to a landing. Nala had also stripped down, but while his clothes were scattered around the inside of the outrigger she had folded and stacked hers neatly. She had strapped a knife to her own waist and an oyster collecting bucket hung from her hand.

moon soliloquy
i feel like a singularity, consuming consuming consuming, taking more than i could possibly give. i soak up adoration and thrive on hate and something inside me grows like a fucked up houseplant, inward and inward and inward, concaving into a vacuum.
i take up your sky, trying to refect your sun without allowing you to see it. i eclipse the thing that is all-consuming. i am becoming the absence of light, absorbing instead of shining.
mathematically speaking, when you multiply a negative with a positive your result will still be negative, but you keep arguing with fact by integrating good things into my equation and trying to prove the structure of the universe wrong. But here i am–turning your roses into this bleak landscape, internalizing your joy and twisting it, using you for feelings that are useless to me.
because if you pry my ribcage open, you wouldn’t find a chestful of flowers, and the beating heart would be an illusion, because in my soul i feel like an empty cavern, storing thoughts that my father keeps telling me to stop thinking and that the morning news experts inform me aren’t real
because my surface is the illusion of normal, painted with the right skincare and the perfect eyeliner and an understated smile
but if you knock on my chest softly, maybe you’ll hear the hollow.

Smoke Break
It was the perfect time to be outside. Weather was just pleasant enough to not be uncomfortable. Warm but not hot enough to make you sweat. A cool breeze that didn’t chill your bones.
He took a seat on the picnic table in the smoke pit, also pleasantly covered in shade from nearby trees. Other people might like the sun but he didn’t. Always found it uncomfortable. Yeah, yeah, vampire… blah de blah de blah. No. He neither burst into flames or fucking sparkled, so he was fairly certain he wasn’t a vampire.
He stared at his work building as he brought the light up to the cigarette. Wondering at the paths taken that brought him here. It was weird the steps you took in life that you never thought you would. Life is strange.
He flicked the flint while holding down the safe and there was that familiar brief hint of gas, then the comforting heat of the flame. He brought it to the end of his smoke and enabled, letting that first drag go deep. He held it for a second longer than usual, reveling in the tightness in his lungs.
He looked at the building and shook his head. Yeah, life was fucking weird. His love life was a shitshow that read like a goddam comedic tragedy (except no one head died) (yet). He didn’t know what the fuck he wanted out of life.
But. The world held cigarettes, a few good people, and enough hobbies to distract him with.
And smoke breaks like these.
It wasn’t bad.

Ch 04 - Ep 03 - Idrissa begat Haidar
They gathered in the viewing hall to each take their turn in joining with their ship. Each of them had been assigned a calf and introduced to the Platth Ship who was the calf’s parent, and to the ship’s Companion. Thomas had been first, and they waited while he was transported aboard his ship. When his ship vanished, there was a moment of alarm and concern until Icarus told them it was ok; Thomas and his ship simply wanted some privacy. Daedalus gestured at the Earth and spoke to them then. “Idrissa it’s your turn; here’s your data flake. Everyone remember to hold an image of the Earth in your mind, when your ship first wakes it will be frightened and disoriented, the image will calm it and stop it from jumping. Place the data flake on one of the ship instances and simply hold it in place with the palm of your hand; just like we practised.” Idrissa bowed to the waiting Platth parent-ships and their companions and nodded his readiness to Icarus. A moment later Idrissa found himself inside the core of his ship, and acting more on instinct than intent repeated the procedure they’d practised so many times. Despite the warnings, the tingling surprised him - but the real surprise came when the tingling touched the base of his brain. There was a whirl of memories; the story of his birth, his encounter with the lion, the image of Daedalus as a crone, the blue diamond Daedalus gave him, even his meeting with Garod. This was followed by clarity; he was happy with who he was; an honest acceptance of himself. Then his mind filled with stillness; the sort of stillness you get on a plain, when the stars seem at their brightest, when all the little creatures seek shelter before the storm that is gathering on the horizon fills the night with thunder, lightning and rain. The stillness comes before the storm. Idrissa watched mesmorised as the wave of charcoal raced away from the console, followed by lines of electric blue. The voice when it spoke startled him, because it was behind him and he’d heard nothing to prepare him that someone was there. The voice was deep, and it rumbled like far off lighting. "I am your lion, Idrissa. I am Haidar, and I’ve come to claim you as my own. When I ask it of you, you will give yourself to me. I will take you and I will mark you as mine, and I will keep you safe here in the belly of my ship." Idrissa turned to see an enormous Platth male standing there; much taller than a normal Platth male; and large enough that Idrissa had to look up at him slightly. And while the Platth tended more to the cheetah, this male was sturdier and more muscular, tending more towards the lion. There was a passing resemblance to Garod, but it was a feline version of Idrissa’s own face looking back at him. Haidar was charcoal in mane and fur, but there were also traceries of blue and metal running through his fur; and his mane and tail were truly magnificent. Haidar had a stillness about him, and an intensity that captured both the animal and the oncoming storm. Idrissa felt something inside of him change at the sight of Haidar; he felt himself suddenly relax; like a cub in the jaws of its mother. This was what he had wanted all these years; he had wanted to be safe; to have some greater force take care of him; and with that realisation he gave his heart and his soul to the lion who was his beloved. ... "Come pet, the others wait to meet me. You have introductions to make." ... Idrissa was gone for about 5 minutes when he suddenly reappeared with his ship. They’d all been introduced to the Platth, so while Haidar's appearance was surprising they weren't shocked by it. But there was definitely a collective intake of breath; except for Icarus who couldn't help but snicker. Daedalus mentally glared at him; and got back the message "Garod pretty much predicted this, wait till I tell you about it later. Rohan is going to have hysterics." They all took a few minutes to get acquainted, though it was a curiously subdued celebration. There was something about Haidar that hushed the room; that curious combination of stillness and presence left everyone waiting for the storm to unleash itself. It was the Platth who seemed the most shocked; shocked by Haidar’s mere physical presence. Haidar stood a head taller than the Platth females, and dwarfed the Platth males; both in height and mass. “Myriam, you're next ... if you are ready?" "Yes, Daedalus." replied Myriam, relieved that Daedalus had broken the tension in the room. "Icarus, if you please?" And in a blink she was gone.

Fourth Street
“Can I kiss you?” He asked. “What?” I mumbled. “Can I kiss you?” He repeated. “Yes,” I whispered
We kissed softly for a couple seconds. Hesitant. Lingering.
“I’m not sure why but it took me awhile to ask you that,” he said. “That’s ok,“ I said.

Leftover Stains
So many lovers have gone wrong. My limbs have grown into trees. There is no blood left to pump. A stale taste lingers beneath my tongue. Corrupted kisses and futures redirected. You were supposed to be mine like the melancholy sky turned gray before God weeps. I imagined you in the crevices of my lungs, giving me air when the world tried to suffocate me. Instead, I got smothered by alternative timelines. Each where we never touched. I took out my heart. Blood stained my pale yellow skin as if angry to have contained the idea of affection. I’m left hollow and bleak, my mouth opens and the universe dwindles. Open up and everything falls. All the candles fall silent although they were never awake. I wonder why we promise things in the dark when they never come.
My arms never reached you. Instead, you leave me with nothing but pieces of a bitter end. You asked them to go with you and I’m but a silly girl who had nothing but arteries tied to you. Brittle bones and bite my tongue. Acid tasted better when I thought it came from you.

I don't have any money, so I deposit a body

A chocolate joint that oozes Carmel down my throat .
Makeout with prince while he holds the

Land of One Thousand Islands - A Serialized Fantasy Novel: Page 20
Asa and Nala are a brother and sister growing up in a fishing village on a remote island in a far away land. When an invading army captures their village they escape and set off on an epic adventure to save their land…
Asa knew the only reason they would be heading to the cove was to dive for pearls. The cove was the best place in the bay for finding oysters. There wasn’t another spot where the water was clearer or more calm. The water was so clear you could practically spot the oysters from your outrigger. Normally, Nala didn’t like to dive for oysters, she thought it was a waste of time and effort, but Asa loved everything about it. He loved the sport of collecting the oysters and bringing them to the surface, loved eating the grilled oyster meat, and loved collecting the pearls inside. He knew the pearls were worth money in the outside world, but that didn’t mean much in their little village, unless some traders unexpectedly came through. Instead, he collected them because he thought they were pretty.
“To the cove, are you sure?” he asked. It felt too good to be true.
“Auntie wants grilled oysters for dinner tonight,” Nala said with a sigh.
Obviously, she would have preferred to head back to shore now, but whatever Auntie wanted, Auntie would get. Asa and Nala were both terrified of her, even though she had never laid a hand on either one of them. She didn’t have to; if they misbehaved or disagree with her, all she had to do was stop and give them that stare of hers and they would fall in line. It didn’t hurt that there were all sorts of rumors of things she had done during the war. Shogiru had told Asa once that his parents had said Aunite had defeated a whole army of the Kyu on her own. When Asa told Nala this she had told him to not believe anything Shogiru said and she was probably right, but still he believed. Everybody in the village treated Auntie with a respect that he couldn’t but think that the stories about her must be true.
Asa didn’t care why they were going to dive for oysters, he was just happy to be going. Asa paddled frantically towards the cove, a smile on his face. With the two of them paddling, they quickly closed the distance to the cove and let the outrigger drift to a halt. As he dropped the anchor over the side once more, Asa glanced over his shoulder and saw all the other outriggers heading for shore. With their work done, the other kids would be playing soon, running around in the fields and chasing each other, but he wasn’t the least bit jealous, this was going to be fun. Asa looked down in the water and noticed it was cloudier than normal, there must have been run-off from the mountain the night before, but he could still see the bottom fairly well. Right below them, probably ten feet down, was a rocky outcropping, rich with seaweed which waved back and forth with the tide.

soliloquy
i have spent decades policing myself and spooling my rage into a tight ball of rules. i measured my length in fingertips and my hands were always open, but i have scars in the shape of fingernails lacing my palm. because all i really wanted was hair that matched my eyes and to pretend i played with dragons, but instead i stitched myself together with a seam up my backbone. it’s starting to rip, and my stuffing is coming out the seams, made of bitten tongues and a fear that only knows loss
i lost years trying to please people who couldn’t give a fuck about my mouth unless they were feeding me soap and who supported me under the guise of a muzzle. i lived in a world where i was so afraid to say “no” that the word sounds foreign in the space between my teeth and my throat
and after years of hard-earned transformation all they want is more, more, more, taking off bits of my skin as punishment and reminding me that i should not be my own. reminders push to my phone that i spent twenty-two years sick with worry over the things that i am not, working to become the things that i am. in return i was given two shitty parties and a few pieces of paper with gold foil.
i turned myself into a motel painting using words that fell on pleased ears and upturned noses, when all i want to be is a blank canvas

i like it when he’s not ironic. i like it when he lives through his feelings. i like it when he doesn’t overthink it too much. i like when he expresses himself. the sound of his voice is beautiful. its a shame he doesn’t always believe in himself. when he does, it’s usually an inflated egoist version of himself. certainly not a confident, connected to his heart, purposeful version of himself. im crying so much right now because im sad. i want to express myself, but i don’t know how. the tears running down my face are feelings of repression. im afraid to speak because i might be wrong. why does that matter so much? i sit by and watch people have a go at it - searching for their voice and identity. but find myself buried in books about how to do it or navel gazing at the ones that are active. as if im outside of myself, while trapped inside myself.
i ought to speak more is all.

Ch 03 - Ep 38 - Thomas and Kurou
They stayed on Platth until dusk fell, eating a big dinner at one of the open-plan dining places. Around them things were starting to get seriously heated up. Families and those just interested in the spectacle had mostly departed; other than a few late stragglers like themselves who were still eating. There were randy teenagers everywhere engaging in what could might generously be called foreplay. Lilith stressed that actual mating wouldn’t occur until after the hunt, but it was obvious the Platth definition of foreplay was pretty liberal. Lilith planned it perfectly; they finished eating and she whisked them all back aboard Icarus just before a couple of them admitted they’d hit their limits. Once they got back on board, she held a bit of a debrief and then left them to their own devices. “I realise a lot of you are probably a bit shocked and overwhelmed by what you’ve seen. We should discuss this further tomorrow once you’ve had a chance to process what you have learnt; no doubt you will have further questions." Most of them were pretty subdued as they walked away; tho Nafeeza was muttering quietly to herself in Punjabi and the translators didn’t pick it up. No-one felt inclined to ask her to repeat herself … she seemed pretty tense. Lilith followed Nafeeza and spoke briefly to her. From what little Thomas caught the gist seemed to be “Trust me, I know how hard it is when everything you believe in comes crashing down. My door is always open to you.” Nafeeza nodded and then suddenly hugged Lilith ferociously, before covering her face and walking away. …. Thomas was kind of fidgety and really horny and he couldn’t stop thinking about the dancing boy. Icarus and Daedalus were having some private time; which meant they were probably screwing. He knew, if he called, Icarus would easily create another instance of self and they could screw too … but the idea of Daedalus screwing Icarus at the same time Icarus was screwing him; gave Thomas the weirdest butterflies in his stomach. Then he had an idea. If he was lucky Kurou would go to the bathhouse. Acting on impulse he grabbed a backpack, a change of clothes, a toothbrush; and before he could chicken out … the handcuffs Daedalus made for him; OMG he couldn’t believe he’d asked for those; in front of everyone; and Daedalus actually made them for him. Even thinking about it was embarrassing. He didn’t know if he’d have the courage to actually go through with it; too actually ask Kurou to screw him. He’d never really thought about doing it with Kurou before and Kurou never suggested it; Kurou just happily provided cuddles whenever Thomas asked. What Thomas really wanted more than a good screwing; was to know about Kurou’s tattoo’s. Because, Kurou was tattooed nearly all over. It was like he wore a colourful tea-shirt and shorts, even his genitals were tattooed, but not his arms, legs, neck or face; and the most amazing tattoo of them all was the Japanese rope-work which made it looked like he was tied up. So Thomas headed off to the bath-house wondering what it would feel like to be tied-up like that; tied up like a little christmas parcel just waiting to be screwed … and those thoughts gave him weird butterflies in his stomach too. … Kurou was there but so was Callum; which was kind of a buzz-kill. Thomas didn’t mind cos Callum never stayed very long; Thomas asked him about it once. “You know when you were growing during puberty and all your bones got really sore and painful - deep down. My bones are still recovering, and I still get the same pain at times; sometimes a hot soak helps, but I start to cook pretty quick. Not like you and Kurou, you two always seem to be simmering.” and then Callum blushed a little and clamped up as if he thought he’d said something he shouldn’t. … Thomas stowed his backpack out of sight, and took a quick rinse in the showers to get all that Platth dust and sweat off. He still had a huge boner, so he grabbed a modesty washer and headed for the big tub. The three of them chattered for a while, and sure enough it wasn’t too long before Callum made his excuses. "Ok, I’m officially cooked; I’ll catch you guys later.” Sure enough, when Callum climbed out of the water; he was a red as lobster from the heat. Thomas waited a bit, then slid over and snuggled into Kurou’s armpit. As per usual, Kurou obligingly put an arm around him and they just sat there quietly not talking, enjoying the stillness; Thomas felt all the days tensions start to melt away. … Usually when Thomas sought out Kurou it was because he had something on his mind. Kurou would listen to him without interrupting, and generally ask a few prompting questions. Usually, that was enough, Thomas’ head would stop spinning and after a period of quiet contemplation his answer would come to him, and he’d give Kurou a hug and head off to his next adventure. After a period of companionable closeness, once Thomas had relaxed into his arm a little; Kurou broke the silence. “Did you have fun today?” “It was fun, but kinda crazy. I think I would have let the Platth boy do me; if I hadn’t been so embarrassed by everyone being there. When I was 12, I watched the neighbours two boy dogs doing it; and I kinda wished they were doing me. Which is how I figured out I was gay. Not that I’m into dogs; but that it was two boys doing it; and the one getting done was having just as much fun as the one doing. But it’s like Lilith said; If Icarus could turn into a Platth or the Akeen dog species - and then do me; what’s the difference to letting the Platth boy or some Akeen boy do me. Wow, being a companion does all sorts of weird to what they teach you; no wonder Nafeeza’s upset." Kurou firmly clamped down on some memories and asked. “So you agree with Lilith; a dog, a dog shaped boy, and boy from an advanced dog species are different.” “Yes but it’s more than that; If I let a dog fuck me; I’d made a choice and he was just doing what come from natural horniness; he doesn’t know any better. But that doesn’t mean its right. If I grabbed some stray dog, or some stray boy and just raped him, well it would be wrong and I’d deserve to be punished for that. So it depends on whose doing what to whom, who agreed to what and whether the person, dog or whatever knew what they were agreeing to; and probably whether they're old enough to agree - tho I’ve met plenty of smart young people and plenty of dumb old people; no offence; but I don’t think that just because you’re older means you’re better at thinking about these things.” “I think the word you're looking for is broadminded; a well educated young person with lots of different experiences is likely to be more broadminded than an old person who’s only ever lived in one place and hasn’t had many experiences.” “That’s it, we need to be broadminded; There’s plenty of things I thought true until I met some of you. But only because my parents are pretty churchy, and other than school I didn’t get out much … except on the internet."
