You ever stare wistfully out a window of a moving car and think about how the core of Spies are Forever is even more poignant now, with how AI is infesting it's way into every aspect of our lives, major companies steering it to steal every bit of information from our lives to sell to the highest bidder (for as little as 50 cents at times) so nobody has any real privacy anymore? And with President Trump very obviously planning to use it and the information it gathers to expose anyone that isn't a straight white Christian male?

One thing that's super important to me about Curt is that he's a messy bitch. He has quarter and then mid life crises every other month, he's depressed, he's an alcoholic, he's an adrenaline junkie, he has no friends and he sleeps around all the time. He uses all his energy putting up a front that even he believes to be real most of the time. He is in no way equipped to have a healthy normal relationship and it drives every guy he's ever been with and even friends away super quickly.

And then, through some miracle he finds a guy who's even Worse at relationships for completely different, but equally as bad reasons. <3 love story of the century

I love how casually queer Tin Can Bros productions are.

Spies are Forever might be the obvious example, as queerness is at the core of the show's conflict with Curt and Owen's relationship. But then you have productions like Solve It Squad or This Could Be on Broadway that have queer characters and they're not a big deal!

Esther is non binary, but that' doesn't eclipse the rest of their character's just one of their character traits: they're also a drug-addict outstanding investigator. On a similar note, Cole is also a trans character, this time played by a trans actress, but her queerness is not on the focus of the character! She's also one of the romantic leads, having a sweet, heartfelt highschool romance with Bethanne. It's very rare to see trans characters as leads in mainstream media, TCB not only has one in their main cast, but she's in a sapphic relationship with another one of the leads!

And it's not something recent, either: one of their first productions, Ex-vloggers, was explicitely queer in 2015! They've always given voice to queer creatives (as one of them is), and I'm glad to see their productions keep growing and evolving, always learning and getting better. I'm excited to see what the future stores for them (oh Intelligent Life I'm so ready for you)

So uh, Curtwen in Hatchetfield au?

This fully stemmed from one thought I had abt these two in a Nightmare Time-esque story and I haven't been able to stop thinking abt it. More lore and details under the cut

Curt is a detective who used to be the best in his field until a case in Hatchetfield led to the death of his partner. He did his best to leave everything behind but 4 years later, a new lead comes to him that drives him back to the town.

There's a horror movie franchise using Hatchetfield as it's filming location and the town is reacting exactly the way you'd expect

Owen is a semi known actor who plays the lead in the movie, his acting career was put on hold for a minute due to a major accident but since his recovery he's been networking and this is the first major role he's taken since his break

The case that's haunted Curt had to do with a serial killer he was never able to catch. While on the case something happened that resulted in his partner sustaining a fatal injury that he blamed himself for

The two of them meet when people working on the production start to receive mysterious threats and have to start working together

Owen's not going to let the threats slide and wants to get to the bottom of it, and Curt's not used to working alone and he's been out of the field for so long that he reluctantly agrees to work with Owen

It's buddy cop story. It's just a buddy cop story.

There are more lore ideas that I have as well as like, ideas for possible character interactions but yeah

Me explaining that my latest headcanon is that Ben has the most formal dialect/speech out of the Ring not just because he’s in charge and an officer, but also because his father taught him to “speak proper.” And then he got rid of his country accent permanently because he needed to fit in with the elite boys at Yale.
