Skella got a bad reception for being Sky and Stella, not the triangle itself. I think Darcy and Riven will do a little bit because it was something that was never explored after the first season of the animated series (after this, they never met again, and there are theories about this). There's a lot of ambiguity between them, I don't think it's going to be something one-sided on Darcy's part in Fate. I have a feeling that Riven will end the third season in love with both. But well, we'll see.

I regained hope in the series with the Trix and with Marion, Bloom's mother.

I add to my other question! Darcy and Riven are not going to get the same reception as Samusa. Darcy and Riven are shipped, and despite all these years, there are still people who remember them in a good way.

I know this ask was sent ages ago, i’m sorry anon. 

I had time to think on it and I’ll say, I still disagree with you. Yes, skella got an incredibly bad reception because people were already up in arms the show dared to put Sky/Stella together when she’s supposedly Bloom’s best friend. 

A decision I will defend until my dying breath, because to me that was never a love triangle, but an incredibly clever way to set up Sky and Stella’s character and to give them room to grow. Besides I just adore Skella as a previously romantic-now best friends dynamic. 

I don’t see the show attempting another love triangle with Riven. Say what you will about Darcy having a fanbase, rivusa numbers were crushing. They flooded social media for two years, based off 40 seconds of content and then s2 comes along and promptly axed Samusa and Riventrixdane. I dont think the writers could’ve been more clear on their intentions, the question is no longer with whom Riven/Musa are gonna end up, but how they’ll get there. 

If the writers were to attempt another love triangle (already unlikely) I think it would be between Flora, Aisha or Terra. Stella already got burnt in one and had an amazing reception with Beatrix, Skloom has its own drama going on now that doesn’t need another person, and Rivusa have their bag secured. 

And if you want a particularly hot take, if the show had more episodes to execute this well, they could even manage to do a redo on Skella while Bloom is out in the dark realm and get people real invested in a qpr skella, for example.
