Free request!: draw your favorite type of monster of your choice
mines are werewolves and centure (mainly because they big and being able to transform into what would be cool)
That's a hard question. There's a ton of cool/interesting monsters If I had to choose one though, it's the Sphinx. It's just very underappreciated considering there are two big mythologies with their own versions: Greek and Egyptian. Especially considering how different those versions are in terms of what they represent. In Greek you got the obvious one. A child of the chimera who gives travelers a riddle. If they answer wrong, they die. In essence the sphinx was a punishment from the gods But in Egypt, Sphinges were seen as a protector of temples, a symbol of royalty and related to the Sun Deity Re (Also I have two sphinx ocs, one of which used to be my persona sooo)
Funfact: Traditionally it's only the greek version that has wings.

Had a dream I had a deep bleeding cut right on the inner bend of my elbow, that was kinda shaped like a chicken foot. I was brought to a hospital where a mask was placed on my face and I got sedated. I woke up in the lobby with bandages wrapped on my arm.
I sensed a loved one was also in the hospital so I waited. But they never showed. But I got impressions of a soul mate world where if they die they return as a different person. But they weren't reincarnated either.
In a different scene, it is a dark space as shuichi and kaede fight a sphinx. This is a losing battle. The sphinx offers their submission to end the fight. Shuichi imagines a jail cell. But the sphinx says that they will "share experiences until they come together as one". Flat arms appear from behind as a door on the sphinx's front opens. The arms shove kaede and shuichi inside, where they fall into a sarcophagus that locks immediately. A Boulder drops in front of the sphinx's chest.
This is a bad end. Shuichi and kaede are battle damaged and crammed in a coffin that barely fits them. I guess from my prior dream this is the afterlife that's been taken over by the sphinx. Silly music plays as the two have sex over and over in the coffin, locked in and unable to do anything. There is a dreadful tone to the scene. Like shuichi has given up and kaede is passive. They'll be there a while. This kind of sick atmosphere results in me waking up at 4;30 am

V3 Monster AU
I guess it’s more of a monster/mythical creature but oh well. This just popped into my head earlier so here we go. It’s still super loose with not much structure, but hopefully it’ll all come together more.
Overall:
Shuichi Saihara was the apprentice to the well known monster hunter, Kyoko Kirigiri. While he was talented at tracking, note-taking, and research, he was never the best at the actual hunting part and has never killed anything. He expected to act as an apprentice and partner for longer, only for his Master to disappear, leaving no trace of where she went. Now the only one to protect the village, Shuichi wonder if one of the many monsters that live in the forest perhaps has something to do with this.
Monster Types:
Shuichi- Monster Hunter
Kokichi- Kitsune
Himiko- Witch
Maki- Demon
Gonta- Sasquatch
Kaito- Werewolf
Ryoma- Sphinx
Tsumugi- Changeling
Tenko- Cyclopes
Angie- Gorgon
Kiibo- Iron Golem
Miu- Succubus
Kaede- Banshee
Rantaro- Vampire
Korekiyo- Wendigo
Ships:
Harumeno- Himiko lives in the village under the guise of being a medic. To most, Maki simply appears to be Himiko’s roommate, despite the fact that she’s actually a demon summoned by Himiko and the two are now dating. (maybe Survivor Trio later on)
Oumota- Kokichi is a kitsune who has a tendency to constantly mess with Kaito, even when Kaito is in his human form in the village. Despite this, they constantly protect each other, especially after Kokichi makes a mistake during one of his pranks, revealing himself.
Shinnaga- While Harumeno is a relationship that’s been going on for about a year now, and Oumota will get together later, Shinnaga has been together for a long time. Due to her eyes turning people to stone, Angie prefers to hide her eyes, and Korekiyo often helps her around when she needs him. The two have also hurt many people in their lifetime, but have tried to resort to a more peaceful lifestyle as they genuinely don’t have to hurt others, and the reason Angie is always blindfolded is due to the fact that she has accidentally turned many people to stone.
I’ll probably post more later, this is just the basics. I’m kinda nervous cause..well I dunno. And feel free to ask any questions about this au, it helps me think when I have prompts. I’d draw them all but..I can’t draw.

@verecunda tagged me in this a while back, and it completely slipped my mind until I saw it half-done in my notes, oops—sorry it took so long! Also, this got wordier than intended, probably because that always happens when I’m avoiding doing actual work. Oh well.
If any of you feel like ranting about your fave female characters, here’s an excuse to do so--though no pressure, of course. Tagging @zonesthesia, @bioticplaneswalker, @joyseeker6, @moonhairedgirl, @yousef-the-uber-driver, @northernpansy, @tresjoly, @xxchimericalxx, @arthoure, @mrmissmrsrandom, @gascon-en-exil, @amorremanet and anyone else reading this who feels like it!
Rules: Rules: Write your ten favourite female characters from ten different fandoms and tag ten different people.
1. Fire Emblem—Sonya
This ended up being a close tie between Sonya and Jill, but I gave this one to Sonya since I’ve actually finished her game. Sonya is amazing. A non-lord character with a connection to the villains always brings them up a notch in my estimation and it’s a damn shame she never got more than one boss conversation with her father—and none with her sisters! Her ending was initially aggravating, but I like to go with the common theory that since Duma is no longer around, talk of her becoming a witch was just hearsay. Her support with Genny is brilliant. She manages to be confident and alluring without turning into a caricature, unlike certain other unfortunate characters throughout the—mostly recent—games. And since she’s from a less popular game, she’s hardly as likely to get completely flanderised in spinoffs. Why on Earth would you ever pick Deen?
Honourable mentions: Celica (FE2/15), Lyn (FE7), Jill Fizzart (FE9/10). This isn’t counting games I’ve not actively played, though there are certain FE4 and FE10 characters who might have ended up in the mentions if I had, given what I know about them.
2. Persona—Yukino Mayuzumi
I actually wasn’t expecting to put Yukino here when I was first trying to figure out who my favourite female character from Persona was. I knew it would likely be a P2 character, since that is my favourite game in the series thus far, but then I realised how much I’ve been missing Yukino in particular while playing Eternal Punishment. The Empress arcana really does fit her: she’s a combination of tough-as-nails and motherly, and a cool older figure for the team to look up to. I especially love how she transfers the chance Saeko gave her to reform during her yankī days to Anna, years later. And that’s not even going into the revelations from her Shadow: she’s torn between two career paths, not feeling good enough to achieve either. And she gives up her Persona for Jun! That takes some serious selflessness.
Honourable mentions: Maki Sonomura (P1/2), Maya Amano (P2), Naoto Shirogane (P4), Labrys (Arena)
3. Ace Attorney—Ema Skye
This came closer than any other entry on the list, both Mia and Franziska initially taking this spot before I eventually settled on Ema. She was an interesting enough character as a kid, her peppiness and the science-obsession gimmick quickly giving way to a more complex characterisation, especially once her full involvement in SL-9 was revealed. However, the science-gimmick paid off wonderfully in AJ:AA when we see how she’s transformed into a jaded, bitter detective, her dreams of becoming a scientist crushed because she didn’t pass the exams she needed to get a career in forensics. When SOJ rolled around and she’d actually managed to get into the field, it felt earned, way more than if we’d met her SOJ self in AJ:AA.
Honourable mentions: Franziska von Karma, Mia Fey
4. Zero Escape—Lotus
Of all the characters who didn’t make it into the sequels which followed on from the original game, Lotus—along with Santa, who I’ll admit has more story-based reasons to return—is the one I miss most. She loves her daughters, fiercely enough to relentlessly investigate their kidnapping by herself for years when the police were of no use, and on top of all that, she’s a genius programmer. The moment I actively started loving Lotus was when she, clearly scared but putting on a brave face, volunteered to go in the electric chair in the torture chamber. It made you realise she genuinely is utilitarian, rather than just being out for her own survival; she’s clearly self-interested, but not completely selfish. I’m just gonna quote Uchikoshi himself: “She may seem selfish and cold, but she’s actually the most rational and sensible out of all of them. She has the intellectual ability to make very logical decisions.” She’s just the best.
Honourable mentions: Akane Kurashiki, Diana
5. Avatar—Azula
I know there are people who follow me still watching Avatar, so I’ll try and keep this as spoiler-free as I can in case they end up skimming some of this accidentally. (Though I’d definitely not recommend anyone who wants to remain completely unspoiled reads this entry on the list.)
But anyway—“Do the tides command this ship?”
The Fire Nation royal family just provides all the best characters in the series. Zuko is definitely my male fave, while his sister takes the female spot. Source of both the vast majority of best lines in the show, as well as the most Machiavellian of villainy, Azula is just awesome to watch in action, whether it be in the political, martial or personal sphere. The odd dynamic she has with Zuko is my favourite in the series, managing to be outright antagonistic, while at some moments offering the glimmer of a genuine, if warped almost beyond recognition, sibling bond. There are even more poignant moments where we’re reminded of her actual age and how her family circumstances have shaped her into what she is. She’s a complex villain, one of the best this, or any other series, has to offer.
Honourable mentions: Kuvira, Katara, Toph Beifong
6. A Song of Ice and Fire—Sarella Sand
Okay, if we’re doing a female character list, I kinda have to give the original Dornish Sphinx herself a spot on the list. Not much page space has been devoted to her as of the current date, considering our only consistent POV character in Oldtown just arrived. I’m looking forward to what she and Archmaester Marwyn get up to once GRRM finishes TWOW. The least war-hungry of the Sand Snakes, she’s not even been introduced on page as herself yet. Instead, we know her as “Alleras”, a pleasant young Dornishman of sharp intellect studying at the Citadel.
Honourable mentions: Asha Greyjoy, Sansa Stark, Arianne Martell
7. DCU—Selina Kyle
Is there any Bat-work, canon or fanon, that isn’t instantly made a dozen times better by Selina swooping in? (Okay, there are a couple of duds, but usually she’s a delightful presence.) One of DC’s best anti-hero/anti-villains.
Honourable mentions: Renée Montoya, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown
8. Danganronpa—Kyōko Kirigiri
The original Ultimate Detective herself. Cool, poised and collected, she certainly makes for a more convincing detective character than certain other later characters from the series, though Shuichi does try his best.
Honourable mentions: Kaede Akamatsu, Junko Enoshima, Chiaki Nanami
9. Doctor Who—Martha Jones
I’m scraping the barrel a little for fandoms, considering I don’t even watch the show anymore, but Martha is my favourite of all companions. I never wanted her to get with the Doctor, of course, but I appreciated how her unrequited feelings for him didn’t swallow up her entire character. She’s courageous, smart and leaves the TARDIS on her own accord, which is refreshing.
10. Arthuriana—Morgan le Fay
This is a tricky one, since Arthuriana is more a literary tradition than a fandom per se. The characters which belong to it don’t technically ever stick to one characterisation, personality or role—everyone has their own interpretation, or even several different ones. That said—yes, my favourite is Morgan, how original of me, I know. Viviane runs her competition, but since she’s all over the place—quite literally, becoming or amalgamating several different characters at once—Morgan wins. There’s a reason she’s overused in modern adaptions, though, and it’s because she’s amazing. I mean, she even got a geographical phenomenon named after her and in some traditions, she lives in a goddamn volcano. She’s at her best as Queen of Rheged, though, casually trying to murder her husband, or Guinevere, or teaching a lesson to whichever knight of the week volunteers for her obvious trap. Just never mention that modern book she’s most known for around me unless you want me to angry-cry. Also, she’s not Morgause. Let Morgause be her own character, modern media, please.
Honourable mentions: Viviane, Lynette, Ragnell

A ghost on campus [1]
The summer sun-blessed Hope Peak with its soft beams as the students met and talk to each other outside. Centaurs were playing soccer with minotaurs, satyrs, and unicorns. Mermaids enjoyed the cool shade the trees provided, taking big sips from their water bottles. They were accompanied by vampires who feared getting sunburns as their pale skin made them quite vulnerable. Harpies and Sphinxes soared through the sky, passing a ball from one to the other. Werewolves sat on the benches, eating their lunch and/or sharing news with manticores. And lastly, Nagas and dragons just enjoyed the heat. Shuichi Saihara, Kaito Momota, and Maki Harukawa had settled themselves under one of the bigger maple trees. Its bark was dark and ruff, having survived many harsh winters but its lush leaves looked so young and fresh, almost as if they were put in the wrong place. Kaito was hunched over a math book, the end of the pen in his mouth as he chewed on it. His sharp teeth having already made their mark on the poor item: "So… I have to subtract by two?"
Shuichi nodded, body stretched out on the grass. He just got done preening one of his wings, correcting his feathers' position as well as getting rid of those who had been damaged by their last PE class. Deciding to be a mediator between a werewolf and naga had not been one of his smarted moments. He looked up: "Yes. And then you need to get this X over to the other side."
"… I don't get it." Kaito said.
"Maybe you'd understand if you visit class more than twice times a month," Maki commented, eyes not leaving the book she was reading. "Not my fault that astronaut training takes up so much of my time. I can't make all-nighters 'cause I need my full energy." The vampire sighed, turning the page with a barely suppressed: "Idiot." Kaito didn't seem to hear her -or decided to ignore her: "Besides, I *am* honing my talent, aren't I? I don't hear anybody complain when Shuichi goes to solve another case."
"Ah yes," Shuichi chuckled: "but my uncle doesn't call me in unless it's a special case so I don't miss much." he stretched his arms, claws poking out, gleaming in the few beams that fought through the canopy. "It's a good thing too. Then my sidekick can help me while I get ready to go to space!"
"Ah, I don't think-"
"That being said; Let's get back to these problems, Sidekick!" "Heeey!" came a voice above their heads. Having made his spot on one of the highest branches, Kokichi Oma looked down. "What do you want?" Maki's voice was sharp. "Oh nothing, I just couldn't help but overhear. Should have guessed the idiot would be overwhelmed by the simplest things." using his tail by gripping the other branches, Kokichi slithered down. To prevent a fight, Shuichi got up. If anything happened, he could jump in. Annoyed, Kaito's ears moved back: "What did you call me?"
"Geez, are you deaf too? Listen, I just want to help. Be a good classmate and all that. Buuut looks like you don't want that."
"You got that right! Shuichi's here already teaching me." he threw his arm around the sphinx's shoulders. Kokichi looked between the two, face uncharacteristically blank. "Why do you want to help Kaito so suddenly?" Maki asked eyebrows pulled together.
"…"
"Let me guess; you lied?" Shuichi sighed to which Kokichi laughed: "Got me again, Detective." he continued with his arms crossed between his head: "Yeah, that was a lie."
"So… You just wanted to cause trouble again? Confuse us?" Maki said, eyes glowing red. "Nah, that's become boring. I wanted to ask you guys something."
"Ask… Us?" Shuichi frowned.
"Yeah! And you have to promise to be honest. No lies! No half-truths either!" Shuichi watched Kokichi's finger wiggle from side to side as if he was a teacher, already reprimanding them. The three others exchanged quick looks: "I guess a question won't hurt."
Kaito crossed his arms: "What do you want?" The naga leaned forward, plum eyes looking around. His voice dropped to a whisper: "Have you heard the rumor? The one about the ghost?"
"G-Ghost?!"
"No, I haven't heard anything." Shuichi gave a small yelp as Kaito's grip tightened, choking him. "Yeah, apparently there is a ghost walking around campus at night." Kokichi explained: "From what I've heard it has huge antlers, two hooves, and red glowing eyes. And it's huuuge! I guess it could even be considered a demon."
"Demon?!"
"Kaito! I-I can't b-breathe…!"
"A demon? Do you really think we'd believe a stupid lie like that?" Maki's wings twitched ever so slightly. "Don't shoot the messenger, killer girl. I'm only telling you what I heard. And that is not a lie. Now if you would excuse me, I have some important supreme leader business to attend to." and thus he slithered off. Shuichi's face started to turn blue when his friend finally let go. The werewolf was shivering horribly, face pale. "You don't seriously believe him, do you?" Maki let out a short breath: "There is no such thing as ghosts or demons."
"D-Don't say it! You might attract them!"
Shuichi who had stopped gasping for air and whose face had started to regain natural colors, reassuringly patted his best friend's back: "I'm sure Kokichi was just trying to get under your skin. It wouldn't be the first time."
"Y-Yeah… Y-You're probably right…" The sphinx smiled and put a wing over his friend's slumped back.
"We should probably head to class now." Maki got up and cleaned her skirt. "Uh… I think I'll go to my room. I'm... Not exactly feeling well."
"… Fine."

The language of music (Mermaid!Kaede & Sphinx!Shuichi)
To most creatures, notes were an enigma. Hundreds of dots on paper. Some might even think that the musician had no idea what to do with the remaining ink so they just slapped something together. But not Kaede. She could read the dots as well as English. They weren't dots to her, no, they were words. Whole stories even.
She turned over the page. The next, much like the first, was more black than white. Symbols lined the 'words', telling her when to pause and when to start. Due to the entire room being filled with sweet music, rain, thunder, and winds appeared like whispers, murmurs at best. Even the usually squeaking door above the dozens of rows of seats was quiet as if in awe.
Shuichi, drenched to his bones, hair, and fur clinging to his skin, stepped into the big music hall. The news had said that the first storm of the year would be bad but he had not anticipated waterfalls coming from the sky. The dark sphinx stepped in the stadium-like room only to stand there, still as a statue, ears suddenly pricked. Kaede sat at her piano at the base, beneath the dozens of rows, focused on her notes, her long fin tapping, the sound similar to the ticking of a metronome. The music sang through the room, sometimes hard like rock then, in the next moment, soft as a mother's voice. Long, high notes followed by short, low notes. It all fitted together perfectly like a puzzle.
While Shuichi wasn't big on music -he listened to it, sure, but playing an instrument?-, even he could tell that Kaede possessed unrivaled talent on the piano. He knew since the first day at Hopes Peak where she played a song in the gym as a "welcome" to all new students, herself included. As to not disturb his friend, he made his way down the carpeted stairs in almost crouching movements. Before he could even reach the stage, the symphony found its end, a hushed whisper carried away by a silent wind and the pianist looked over: "Shuichi! Hey!" the siren waved, her pastel-pink ear-fins perking up under the light blond hair. With a fluttering stomach, Shuichi leaped down the last three steps, landing gracefully on his paws. "Why are you so wet? I thought you don't like water." Kaede asked, taking a sip from the teacup beside the stand holding her sheets.
"I do, I -ah- got caught in the rain." the sphinx gestured to the small windows that lined the ceiling of the room. The winds howled, causing a creaking sound. Rain pelted against the glass, hard, fast, like fists.
"Oh, I didn't even notice," Kaede said: "Did you get my notebook?" Hastily, Shuichi put down his bags, opened them, and took out a thick book with a green cover. Or at least he thought. The rain had soaked the fabric and with it all of the bags' contents, creating a dripping blob of green. "Dammit. I thought my bags were waterproof." he cursed.
"That's alright." the siren smiled but his well-trained eyes noticed her disappointment by the way her ear-frills drooped: "I can always make a copy." with his pride severely hurt, Shuichi put the wet collection of papers down. He should have taken the route through the main hall instead! That way would have been dry, even if it took longer.
"Don't worry about it, Shuichi." Kaede insisted upon seeing his pose slump: "I still have most of it in my head and I'm sure the rest will come back, once I start putting down notes."
"I know how long you worked on that. I'm sorry I ruined it." Shuichi sat down, wings angled down ever so slightly, and head hanging. She gave a short huff and crossed her arms, shortly before moving to the side and hitting the seat next to her with impressive determination: "Come here. I'm in the mood for a duet!"
"A-A duet?" Shuichi looked up.
"Yeah! You do know what I mean, right?"
"I do, it's just…" he lifted one front paw, flexing his claws, and trying to move the individual 'fingers'. By tomorrow he will have forgiven himself for the notebook but accidentally damaging her piano, even if it's just a small scratch?
"At least try it, Shuichi!" again, she hit the spot next to her: "Life is all about challenges, right?"
Maybe, Shuichi thought, but there is a reason why sphinxes aren't known for their musical talent.
In spite of his guts, he sat down next to her and let her guide his paws to the right places, trying not to think of how incredibly warm her hands were: "Since you don't have much experience -and can only press four keys-" she added quietly: "We can try a slow song. That way you're not overwhelmed and have time to correct your position." Shuchi opened his mouth to protest but Kaede had already opened her backpack and was now searching through its contents - most of that music sheets. "There we go!" she handed him a stack of papers. On the first page, over the scary amount of notes, "Für Elise" was written in thick, black letters. "Don't worry. It's not as bad as it looks." Kaede reassured him upon seeing his facial expression drop. She took the papers and put the sheets in front of them on the piano: "Okay, we start off with an E." she gestured towards a seemingly random key in front of Shuichi.
"O-Okay."
"And right after that, you need to press D."
"So…" Shuichi paused then gestured to the white key on the right, next to the E-key: "That one?"
"Close. That's the F-key. The D-key is this one," she pointed to the white key left of the E-key: "Now, see the little sign next to the second note?" she pointed at the second note on the sheet.
Shuichi leaned forward, eyes narrowed: "The little Tic-Tac-Toe-symbol?" beside him, Kaede gave a short laugh: "Yeah, that one. It's called a 'Sharp' which means you have to raise the pitch of that note by one semitone."
"Which means…?" Shuichi felt his cheeks burning. She made it sound as easy as 1+1 but he found it to be like learning a new language. Then again, that comparison might not be *that* farfetched.
"You have to press that key. The black one next to the E-key." Kaede instructed: "The black keys are the semitones."
"I see..." Shuichi said slowly: "And the third note?"
... The two didn't know how long they sat there. After Kaede told him what keys to press, she let him play the first line a couple of times. Behind him, Kaede gave him a sense of time as her tail worked once again as a metronome. At first, Shuichi jumped around between the keys, flinching each time he hit the wrong one, by accident or because he thought that one was right.
However, with every repeat, Shuichi felt himself getting better and more confident.
... "Great job!" Kaede grinned: "I knew you could do it!"
"Only thanks to you," Shuichi said: "I could have never done this without your help." he gave a quick sigh, almost a huff.
Kaede got up and stretched her arms towards the high ceiling, fingers intertwined with one another: "Man, I'm starving."
"Yeah, me too." Shuichi agreed and got up as well, stretching his legs out and dark-blue wings, afterward, with a satisfied sigh, before flapping them. They still weren't completely dry, still felt heavy.
The sphinx jumped down the stage and smiled sheepishly, cheeks warm: "Sorry, you ah got something on your face." Kaede rubbed the few stray water droplets off her face: "I'll get you back for that."
The two looked at each other. Had the stage lights always complemented Kaede's form so well?
"So, um, wanna go get something to eat?" Kaede asked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah! I'm starving!"
"Sushi sound good?"
"With calamari?"
"You got it!"
As they left the music hall, Shuichi noticed Kaede quickening her pace, cheeks matching the rich sunset beyond the windows.
Author's note: I'm not proud of this one...

Another species swap cause while the last one wasn't my favorite from an art perspective, I like the idea still
This time around... I think Shuichi looks pretty good. The expression is cute
Kokichi is... fine. I like it but the face tho XD
I've actually been playing around with the concept for a fanfiction where they either switch bodies or species

Gay sphinxes doing what gay sphinxes do
They aren't my main ship and I do have other ships with either of them. Most of the time, I just see them as friends with Kokichi constantly teasing Shuichi to make him uncomfortable

Note
Personally I think that a sphinx is much more fitting for Kokichi since they deal in riddles and sometimes when he lies around in circles it's as if he's speaking in riddles y'know?
Honestly, I haven't thought about it that way. I just liked how Kokichi looked xD
The reason why I drew Kokichi as a naga first, was the stigma that snakes are deceitful liars.
Shuichi in turn became a sphinx because I thought that sphinges can also be seen as a symbol of the truth and unraveling the riddles/lies.
Having said that; I'll have to think about Shuichi again cause having them both be the same species would be pretty boring IMO
Thank you for your comment ^^
