This is the chompies’s emotional support spell punk! Aka, a magic spell punk adopts two chompies cause why not?

Skytober, Day 23, Spell Punk

The Spell Prince was my second ever skylanders oc. I never saw a magic spell punk in Spyro's Adventure, so I made up the Spell Prince, an absurdly cartoonish villain who leads an army of spell punks. I like him.

saw your design on light spell punks: here's how i would rework some of the others if ssa gets a remake

air: the speed buffs from swap force

tech: spawns turrets that last about 20 seconds or until the summoner is defeated [the sky beams make more sense on light spell punks as you think]

undead: summons undead trolls like in swap force [and rhu-babies would instead feast on other enemies to grow]

fire: damage buffs upon other enemies

magic: renders other enemies invisible

bonus

dark: forms an umbral vortex around itself dragging the skylander inward and damaging them harder the closer they are to the eye

Ooooo yeah I like these a lot. Fire being a stat buff type of Spell Punk isn't what I would have expected, but I dig it!

Though as a bonus, maybe all support spell punks have a basic weak "orb" attack aside from their main spell. That way they aren't that helpless without other enemies around. That way Fire still has their fireballs and such.

Maybe fire has the fireball

Instead of a green orb, the life spell punk throws an acorn

Undead throws a skull

Air throws a small tornado

Earth throws a rock

And Magic throws the glowy orb

I like to imagine that Hobie is like one of those long cats that doesn’t seem to have a spine when he’s relaxed.

He’s tall, we’ve already established that, all limps and never stands straight on his back. He likes to lean on things, dislikes sitting properly. He needs a leg propped up or else he wouldn’t feel comfortable. When he’s around you, he likes to take up space, as you put it. He is quick to make himself home when he enters your space, plopping down and arms swung back on your couch as if he never left the spot.

He has a way of carrying himself that leaves no room for doubt. Of course he is supposed to be here in your house, look how perfect it is when you are tangled up together on your tiny couch, all it took was his forearm laying on the small of your back for you to never want to get up again.

We’ve already seen the way he just threw his arm around Miles and I don’t doubt that he’s the same with you, only worse. Sometimes you would feel a sudden crushing weight on your back, lanky arms stopping you from doing whatever you are doing as he wraps them around you from behind, burying his face into your neck as he let out a sleepy mumble. He’s always trusting around you, but it seems he let his guard down even more whenever he isn’t completely awake. He’s a permanent attachment to you when you’re getting ready in the morning, dragging himself behind you in a way that could not be comfortable.

It usually takes a lot of coaxing and bribing with breakfast for him to finally let go of you, sinking down on his usually spot at your small table with his legs spread and head laid on folded arms as he watches you with an amused grin.

Your bed becomes his bed when you’re not around. He is unpredictable with his day, sometimes leaving in the middle of the night and occasionally returning in the middle of the day when you least expect it. It’s not rare for you to walk into your room to find that he’s already there, sound asleep with his face buried into your pillow and arms spread out on the mattress. He looks so comfortable you almost felt bad for waking him up, with his back bare and raising with each breath he took, the steady rhythm of his exhales filling the room.

He yawns when you tried to move him, limps stretched out and back arched as he pop the knots on his back from cramping onto the bed frame that is too small for him.

(You’re sure he has a bed that actually fits his frame somewhere, but he seems to take a liking to your much more crowded bed instead.)

But instead of getting up like you have wanted him to, he just grabs you by the arm and crashes you onto the mattress with him, trapping you when his body rolls over.

“5 minutes…”

Which is just… absolute long cat behaviour.

Not an easy feat to be in a band with five people, for each to have a distinct personality that adds to the sound and that isn't in the background.

Fontaines comfortably go and do interviews with one member on behalf of the band, and they actually all come across as thoughtful, motivated individuals with musical ideas and direction, you get the sense that every member of this band contributes thematically to the music on the album and it isn't simply about writing guitar riffs and leaving the meaning of the album to Grian to sort out. And that's why any of them can go onto a serious podcast or Radio 1, and talk all about what lies at the heart of a particular piece of work Fontaines have done.

Some songs will come from other members of the band fully. Carlos can talk about Big Shot because he wrote it. Grian can talk about it because he interpreted Carlos' writing, and because he's a good friend of his and has an inkling of what he's thinking about (Rolling Stone interview, Skinty Fia track by track, just before the album dropped). Carlos talking about Horseness and his baby daughter. Curley talking about Sundowner and the shoegazy inspirations, and the guide vocals he laid down for Grian. Carlos and Curley talking about how they jokingly challenged each other to write 'the ballad one' they'd been threatening to do for years and ended up with You Said (most beautiful song on the planet, I do not take opinions on this). Deego being able to talk about basically any song on the album enough to hold down an hour long songwriting podcast interview. Grian talking about Deego's bass work on In ár gCroíthe go Deo, praising Deego's writing as a bassist and the emotion he drew out of the song by deliberately choosing to play just one note. Carlos' 'vacuum cleaner' guitar sounds. The reason why there are no drums on the bridge of I Love You. Tom giving Skinty Fia the album it's very name, Grian using in the title track to talk about warping/mutated family ties and expectations, and on Roman Holiday to talk about Dublin and Ireland. Damnation of the deer. Corruption of the traditional. Everything is deliberate. There is no dead weight in this band; every part of them is so crucial to them sounding, being and making what they do in this band.

It's in the way we know the others in the band as well, it's not just Grian and 'the other guys' as vague background characters you wouldn't recognise. I do admit there will be casual fans who don't know anyone but Grian, but the minute you want to delve a little deeper, the minute you hear or read even a single interview with this band, you get all these different personalities that shine through.

Perhaps it would've broken another band to have such strong personalities in it. Usually when people talk about 'creative differences', they talk about strong and opinionated personalities clashing. But this band's love and dedication to art as the higher cause than personal ideas and petty squabbles is so evident. Their own friendship too, looking out for each other, having known each other since about 18 or 19 presumably, making sure you're in sync with your friends but also allowing them each the space to contribute something of their own that's not just background accompaniment. I think that makes Fontaines special, and long may it continue.

headcannon I have for N is that he likes ballet because apparently N happens to do poses when in battle like that one teaser image for ep 8 and it doesn't help when people Photoshop bows and tutus on that exact image

Also I wanted to do something with Uzi for this, because well Nuzi duh, but I didn't have time and only had time for N so if anyone wants to follow-up this with Uzi I won't mind ›:3
