Come again to a road diverged in the wood of your morality : to do or deny .  But the doe is wise ( or foolishly blinded by a one-sided faith & fondness ) , and knows better than to neglect the hunter’s whims.  And it is to him , ALWAYS , that they owe their life and strength.  Or so they have been led to believe ( & is this so wrong ? has he not done them well this whole time ? ) .

Thus , they DO , as they have done and done and done so afore ; a creature of destruction , their sins honed and weaponized for the sake of the crusade unending.  And perched thereupon the mesa , shrouded in a pelt of thick furs dappled with glimmering stones , Kaen overlooks their craft with an a p p r a i s i n g air ( pride is not their vice , so forgive them for this instant of meager vanity ; it is , of course , an art ) .  Bespectacled blues follow the chaos , the rolling plumes of flame and smoke tarnishing the vista , polluting the night’s horizon— And they know well by now , that this is a step f o r w a r d .  Not back.  They are doing the right thing ( & yet … their heart burdens the weight of the dying irregardless , this is not their work , this is not their war , but far be it for them to change course when they've come so far ) .

When all’s gone silent , Kaen sighs softly ( shakily ) .  It is done , either way.  They spare a glance down the incline , searching the darkness a moment before looking forward again.  He’ll be expecting them , yes , but there is one more thing they do during these rituals : a last grace .  Into the furls and folds of their furs seeks metal talons of an arm long-lost , withdrawing a pan flute.  And , the eerie stillness of the world is broken by the melancholy melody they play ; a soft eulogy , a gentle r e m e d y for the wastes that breaks beyond the shadows and smolder , lingering in the distant breeze.  They , the wee doe , the pied piper come to collect the souls lost.  Their playing stops suddenly , as if startled.  ❝ Ah was a’mos’ done , ❞ Kaen says quietly , apologetically , looking up at the Independent approaching them , ❝ Was … Was Ah takin’ too long ? ❞

more thoughts about TSV x Trigun (or like one thought)

Comparisons/parallels/analogs between Stampede!Vash's overgrowth of roots and flora after being mindwiped by Knives and Paige's attempt to create a god of mercy and martyrs that steals sacrifices from other gods

Vash as this character who is all about mercy and kindness to others being turned into a weapon to rape his sisters and destroy humanity. An overflow of flora that eventually crystallizes into something that destroys an entire city and all the lives within it. He's a gate, he's a vessel, he's an instrument to see Knives's vision realized into this world.

Paige's attempt to make something incorruptible in a world that breeds and breathes and feeds on the corruption of the body and soul. Something meant to save people from being forced into a transmogrification against their will that grows forth a thing that the press can call "The Tree of Spite." A god that seems to operate less on actual mercy and succor and more on destruction between predator and prey, whose sanctifications spill out not just from it's stolen sacrifices but to surrounding wildlife, skewering seabirds with flowering crocus growing from the fish they try to consume.

Even the fucking sanctifying prayer for Paige's god has vibes of that scene, though honestly, more like Vash is being unwillingly sainted by Knives's ideas of the universe.........

(Uhhhh for those who like Trigun and are intrigued by my rambling here, Saints in TSV are a particular sort of human sacrifice in which a person (willing or unwilling) is transmogrified into a body horror-tastic reflection of a god as a form of worship or punishment or weapon. There are Saints that are mostly sacrifices (turn that dude who was gonna rat you out to the feds for illegal worship into a shrimp!!!), Saints who willingly undertake such transformations to become beacons or weapons for their faiths, Saints who are propped up like living reliquaries and you're left to wonder 'hey did your brother actually want to be turned into a horrible ink spewing maggot for your god of rotting parchment and secrets or did you just do this for some reason all your own????')

as a child, Leanne used to wander out of town into the closest bit of desert to play around in the sand. unintentionally drew zazie's ( @swarmedhost ) attention bc she kept feeding baby worms and playing with them. they were cool

sort of accidentally befriended zazie? unclear, the relationship's weird and neither of them has actually discussed what they think

she's grown up knowing and considering zazie a friend. has many questions about zazie but has decided the mystery's more fun than actually knowing the answers so it's fine don't worry about it.

still lives in her hometown though now she's an adult and has Responsibilities like a job. still goes out to feed bugs and bother zazie if they're around

zazie talks about 'knives' sometimes and leanne has no idea if zazie is talking about a person named knives (what a weird name???) or actual knives and she hasn't decided if she should ask or not

ok I'm rambling again so yeah. Hello veteran worshippers I'm new :)

I mean, like I knew about Sleep Token, heard The Summoning first in one of my Trigun artist’s Tiktoks, then heard Take Me Back To Eden in a video by the creator of Covenant Webtoon. Listened to those songs for fun sometimes, but then TMBTE got ✨stuck✨ in my head. Then I was like “Live video of TMBTE??? Does it exist?”

And like. Why didn’t I get into this band sooner.

First off here’s The Summoning and TMBTE so you can see my pipeline:

And then THIS RITUAL introduced me to the band, which was FREAKING AMAZING IT’S SUCH A GOOD RECORDING!!

I love their aesthetic, secondly. You don’t see many mysterious bands these days, and these guys deliver so well. Every single member has a distinct and interesting look that's all so cool. I love how the Vesselettes/Espera exist, like that's amazing and I love seeing them. Vessel looks so fun to draw I wanna do it at some point. This is the first band I’ve found that just speaks to my OCs more than other fictional characters. Probably gonna see me animate Dark Signs with one of them soon enough.

Third, like… their lyrics are some of the most creative and evocative things I’ve heard in so long. It kinda sucks they don’t do many interviews bc I’m dying to know what goes through their heads when they write this amazing music. Some of my favorite lyrics are in a list below so you don’t read a gigantic paragraph, and will also show you my favorite songs I’ve found:

Chokehold: Still getting into this one, but "So show me that which I cannot see / Even if it hurts me / Even if I can’t sleep / Oh, and though we act out of our holy duty to be constantly awake / You’ve got me in a chokehold" is a build that always gets me so hyped up

Granite: just found this one, it's so BADASS!! "When you sit there acting like you know me... So keep an eye on the road, or we'll both be here forever" is so freaking awesome. I need like an animated music video that just illustrate the lyrics bc that'd be so cool

Like That: "Fall into your eyes like a grave (all that is inside, all your anger) / Bury me to the sound of your name, no (all your disgust, all your resentment) / Fall into your eyes like a grave (all your difference, all your pain) / Bury me to the sound of your name (all your pain)." There's so much resentment in this song and it's dripping off of these lyrics specifically, it's awesome

Missing Limbs: just found this one also but OMG it made me tear up the first time watching it in the Red Rocks Ritual! It's so sweet and tender, by the time you get to the title at the end you just get punched in the feels. "I'd give anything / To balance your conviction with certainty / To fall asleep without you lying next to me / To sever my connection with everything ... And I'll live like I've got missing limbs for you" IS SO GOOD HURTS MEEEEEEEE

The Summoning: -insert the rest of the song after 5:00- Obviously this is the part everyone uses in their social media posts, and I am not immune to its allure. It’s amazing!

Take Me Back To Eden: -insert the entire second chorus- and "And I don't know what's got its teeth in me / but I'm about to bite back in anger / And no amount of self-sought fury / will bring back the glory of innocence." The way Vessel sings this is so desperate and like enhances the lyrics so much more augh

Aqua Regia: honestly like all of it. The rap-ish style with the creative lyrics is so cool and the imagery of it all is so vivid. I love how the second chorus builds with the verse. It has such a steady, pungent rhythm that's so fun to sing

Rain: "I know, I know, I am what I am / The mouth of the wolf, the eyes of the lamb / So darling, will you saturate? / -second chorus-." I love the opposites in this verse, so interesting. The chorus has that yearning (tm) and I'm all here for ittttttt

The Night Does Not Belong To God: "When you live by daylight / With angels at your side." It's literally two lines but after the beautiful build that intros the song and his angelic voice, it does something to you

Dark Signs: I melt into a puddle every time I hear "I might break and bend to my basic need to be loved and close to somebody." The line is evocative enough just hearing it once, but making it a backing vocal that’s always playing just makes it punch you over and over. All the beat drops in this song are amazing

Atlantic: EVERY FREAKING WORD AND NOTE IN THIS SONG

I need y'all to like... hear Atlantic at Red Rocks specifically (cw: flashing):

This is the main reason I made this post bc... LIKE EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAR THIS HELLO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! This version is so amazing I barely listen to the studio version. "Sobbing as they turn to statues at the bedside / I'm trying not to crush into sand." I can't tell you what exactly but this makes me feel things. "Call me when they bury bodies underwater / It's blue light over murder for me / Crumble like a temple built from future daughters / To wastelands when the oceans recede" is a phenomenal verse and I've never felt more connected to the ocean when I hear it. The piano, the vocals, the instruments, the venue, II singing at the end, the vesselettes, the lights. Oh my god. The outro. Soothing and angelic omggggg. That beat drop?!?!?! ✨ w h a t ✨ . They've put an addictive substance into every one of their songs but this one is like an overdose. Can't get anything done all I'm thinking about is this -flails hands at video-. Vessel is literally a vessel in this song bc whatever entities the band made a deal with to have music this good are singing through him here.

And like the fourth thing. By now listening to all these songs may have made you realize:

what can’t they do?!?! Their music just goes into so many different genres sometimes and it’s amazing. Never heard a band this versatile.

Uh, yeah. That's been my experience with Sleep Token so far, and I am so normal about them, as you can see :D !!!!! Excited to be into them and this community. Any of my followers reading this who don't know who they are, go check them out, they're freaking amazing. They will change you.

It was nice to lie down and relax like that, that fact was undeniable. But the niggles and twitches of how he didn't deserve the soft touch, the care, the closeness all still wanted to twist up into something that politely declined--

--until Vet told him not to. All of those feelings that had taken root in his chest slowly coming apart and untangling from each other, allowing those feelings of contentment to wash over him. Allowed him to enjoy the feel of the Veteran's fingers in his hair as his body relaxed again. Squirming, nervous cat to purring kitten, simple as that.

"O-okay..." he breathed, a smile of his own slowly coming across his face, reveling in the feelings and soft touch. Part of him still seemed a little unsure-- not entirely sound on the concept of giving up control like this, after what happened in JuLai --but... he trusted Vet.

| 🪶 | Vet’s eyes followed him as he moved and settled, and a pleased smile slowly crept into his expression. It was nice to be able to override that endless need to push away his own well-being. He was all too familiar with it. But this control in his hands meant Greenie couldn’t protest, and the more he let himself give in, the better Vet could take care of him.

Contentment and gladness radiated through their touch, and Vet brought his flesh hand to Greenie’s hair and ran his fingers through it, letting the nails just lightly work their way to the scalp and scratch gently from from to back.

“That wouldn’t be so bad, would it? I won’t mind having you here with me, resting and safe. Don’t protest, Vash, I want this, I want you right here just like this.”

depends on if i'm actually familiar with that other language or not, and how easy it is for the reader to get at translations (hover text or subscripts, depending), i myself probably won't be capable of doing so.

so i'm finally getting the chance to watch the stampede bluray special features and i'm not even finished watching everything but i'm already overflowing with thoughts, not just about stampede or even trigun specifically, but the animation industry as a whole

i just finished watching the interview with director Kenji Muto, and it's so interesting to hear about his conversations with Nightow and how they were both heavily inspired by western media (he mentions Star Wars, Batman, Spider-man and even specifically the Spider-verse multiple times) and it's just like. wow. because animators here in the west do the same thing but with Japanese media! so many modern american animators will point to Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, etc as inspiration for their works.

and i just think that's so cool! we all love each other's work! and it inspires us to make new unique stories! and i know i'm not the first one to make this realization by a long shot, but to see how that back-and-forth has directly affected a work that i hold so near and dear to my heart is just super cool to me.

...a...lot. Most recently? MDZS/SVSSS, Trigun (er, sorry for the weird stuff), and 13 Sentinels (PLAY 13 SENTINELS). Long term oldies but goodies? Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, Overwatch, Supergiant games, Evangelion

Recovery (SVSS, Qijiu --woah, that one pulled ahead in the last few months) Husband x Husband (Hunter x Hunter -- I did this as a yuletide treat to make up for defaulting one year and it's the gift that keeps giving) Minor Delays (SVSS, Qijiu -- wait really?) The Way Back Home (SVSS, Qijiu -- ....Qijiu nation represent. This one doesn't surprise me though, Chira did an amazing comic for it) Hold the Baby (MDZS -- okay this one was just where I was dumping the old twitter threads of a VERY specific Xiyao fix-it AU but you know what, thanks everyone)

I try to. If I don't succeed it's often because life kicked my ass.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably On Your Six (Reaper & Soldier 76, Overwatch)

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is hard mostly because all of my fic tends to be some kind of fix-it in some way to give someone an obscenely happy ending. If you had to have me narrow it down based on what my most blatant fix-it to some miserable canon character ending was? I'd go with either Happiness Exists (As Long As You Believe in the Possibility) (Qijiu again!), and the Recovery-verse as a whole, or maybe Abstraction White Rose (Revolutionary Girl Utena), because by god I needed Utena and Anthy to kiss and I MADE THEM DO THAT, A LOT.

8. do you get hate on fics?

Xiyao troll hit me once or twice and I got a few cranky dudebros who got mad at me for my Eva fic on a message board once, but nothing all that bad if I'm honest.

9. do you write smut?

...well, I've tried but the plot gets in the way.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you have written?

The first that come to mind are the MDZS/TGCF crossovers, but those are the same authors so I don't know that that counts. I DID write a very silly How The Grinch Stole Christmas/Nightmare Before Christmas short once upon an internet. It has since been lost to the great yawning of time and collapse of several social media platforms.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Someone once scraped the awful Naruto fic I wrote when I was like 15 and changed the names to make it a Samurai Champloo fic which, um. Why? But that was pretty damn funny in hindsight.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! In Russian, Chinese, and French. And I love every time it happens.

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

My dayjob these days is cowriting with people. But on the fanfic side -- well, in short, yes. With the usual suspect (that would be Chira) and with my wife, who has once or twice dictated an entire story outline to me which I write in a day.

14. what's your all time favorite ship? Internet, I am old and you cannot expect me to pick one. Utena/Anthy maybe?

15. what is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I still need to do the last story for the A Troublesome Charge series which I SWEAR will happen it's just I had a literal baby.

Character voice. I love character voice and I am told I am good at it.

Smut.

To be honest if I don't know it I don't try. But I like bilingual writing when it's done well (see also: Everything, Everywhere, All At Once) -- but when it comes to fangirl Japanese or Chinese, I tend to leave that to the experts.

mumblesBeastWars and thank god that was on a platform that crashed and burned. The Beast Wars fic I wrote for Yuletide was way better.

20. favorite fic you have written?

On Your Six, despite how I feel about Overwatch nowadays, I feel was probably one of the punchiest stories I've ever written. I would have absolutely used this story to audition to write for Blizzard's tie-in novellas if Blizzard hadn't...well, read the news on what happened at Blizzard.

The other one I'd probably say is Ghost Roads in my Troublesome Charge series (MDZS). I just feel like I nailed all the multiple plotlines and characters involved in that one and I'm super proud of it.
