And because the royal family name is publicly known (Avavirase) the private family members would rely on the surname conventions to further obscure their identities. The surname conventions being matriarchal and passed down from both parents, if applicable. For example:
If Jane Smith-Taylor and John Miller-Jones had a child, Jane’s mother’s surname and John’s mother’s surname would be given to the child.
If the child, Jamie Smith-Miller, went on to have a kid with Jordan Wilson-Brown, their child would be named Jessie Smith-Wilson.
The only exception being the Avavirase name, which gets passed down no matter what.
(this next part is gonna have lots of fucked up names)
So, Amavalyn Avavirase and Clarinesra Tesmonasine are the parents of Queen Veselka, making her full name Veselka Avavirase-Tesmonasine.
When Veselka and Eldrolise Nedonavir are married, Eldrolise’s full name becomes Eldrolise Avavirase-Nedonavir (and the Nedonavir name would be hidden from the public). Their child would be named Solvesran Avavirase-Nedonavir.
And so, because Solvesran has two last names, The Public would know her as Solvesran Avavirase. Then because of the the veils/privacy thing they wouldn’t know what she looked like, and so Solvesran Nedonavir would be allowed to be just a scientist.
(1. Last names aren’t changed when someone gets married, the Avavirase family is the exception again.
2. It’s common for people to just use their mother’s name for signing things, schoolwork, casual introduction, etc. etc.
3. I hope any of this made a lick of sense 😅)
I already established in my head that Valnira has a no paparazzi law or something and I think it’d be interesting to expand on that and give the royal family a privacy law. So like the queen’s kids (and sometimes spouses) would wear veils to events and such so that no one knew what they looked like? Which I imagine would allow them to Just Be People and not have a constant body guard, y’know??
#al:an TAUT#al:an TAUT lore#al:an TAUT Valnira#anyway#I owe my life to fantasy name generator dot com#specifically the medicine name generator lmao#and yes I’m aware they’re big long names and that Everyone has Three or Four of them#but quite frankly if y’all can keep track of g*me of thr*nes characters then this should be easy#y’know???#anyway anyway#I need to start posting more about the TAUT world I’ve built lol

Doodles + More talking about that AU
Have some no context doodles to help the medicine go down
So since this was originally going to be a comic, I actually have SO many doodles backed up in my procreate files. I've been visually drafting this for so long lmao
I'll release them in chunks probably
༄༄༄ 𖠳 ༄༄༄ An integral part of this AU is the relationship between Chief and Connor, and the hypothetical surrounding that. We still don't know much about the specific events that took place in the games making, just the general timeline. But in this AU, Connor figures out that the guys in the game have become sentient pretty early on, and can even interact fairly smoothly with them pre-silvertech (I worked out my own explanation for that) "Man's Best Friend" has been the name in my head for this particular AU for a while (NOT in reference to the 1993 movie by the same title), but in reference to the phrase which refers to the long history of humanity's relationship with dogs, as well as other domesticated animals. The name is kind of sarcastic for multiple reasons, but also kind of genuine..? You can be the judge of that when I finally start rolling out chapters. ༄༄༄ 𖠳 ༄༄༄ throws this at you
And a colorless version of the very top image!

Marchil crumbs part 6
Part 1 - Part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5 - part 7
Wake up broskis Adventurer’s Bible 2 is dropping soon
Love getting the confirmation that she specifically was the one to invite him and his fam to the dinner in the "Thank you for reading!" page… Love that it kinda confirms that her and Senshi greeting them first is them being like "Uh thanks for the invite" "Thanks for coming!!". Love that canon is the best marchil factory
Laios haterism is a deep bond not easily forgotten… I love that even post-canon they tend to stick to each other in groups and go in a corner together like old women ready to gossip and whisper meanly.
Also oh hey Marcille got her bangs cut even… Sad, that’s invalidating my post-canon appearance take for her but y’know what cute, she doesn’t style them at all anymore too… WAIT. She doesn’t style her hair anymore… She leaves it undone and flowing… As per his succubi she’s closer to his ideal omggggg no way… At the beginning of the comic she even just wears a headband. She seems to just wear way simpler hairstyles in general in the other comics too.
Oh and by the way her braids in post-canon are messy… Which, y’all know I hc who does her hair for her always changes and isn’t always the same, but the braid looks like the one Chilchuck made for her, so <;3 Here are some more pics about it/why it’s plausible
He’s such a hater, Falin came late too why’s he singling her out
Speaking of Falin, Marcille so casually touching Chil to chide him about a snide remark he made about Falin (aka the person she would go to war for, and he only gets a gentle chiding? Aw)
Already during the dragon arc there’s some progress from this
I love how the two pics below during the Thistle’s house arc show how they breached the gap in their different, their respective prejudice against the other. So funny that the time Marcille goes "yeah elves kinda suck" is at the worst possible timing lmao, meanwhile Chil is ready to vehemently defend magic use against someone (bc he doesn’t want to go to prison rip). With the page before that panel where he imagines the western elves all evil and all too, it’s really nice to note how big the gap between them was at first with the historical horrors the elves have committed, and what a strong bond they’ve made through it all anyways.
Ok time to address what I hinted at last part and in another post but I think the anime frames this scene a lil different which I think is funny. In the manga Chilchuck walks to her bedside to call out to her to wake her up close, but in the anime he sort of just speaks in her direction. So Marcille heard "Hey, clumsy-head.” and knew it was targeted at her, she went like oh someone is calling me I need to wake up lmfaoo? Listen that’s good for the ship, she woke up because it was his voice and insults like "clumsy" and "dummy" are practically his pet names for her, and it’s also neat how she was the one he chose to call out to in the first place- Why? If it’s bed placement, Laios was on his other side, is it because some need rest more than others? Or perhaps, because he finds interacting with her to be the easiest and he knows she won’t make a big deal out of it?
Speaking of making a big deal out of things. Ok so first of all, during the cockatrice chapter, he’s funny. Staring at his petrified party member like 😬 And look at his little relieved sigh when she gets revived! Standing in the corner and doesn’t care for celebrating, but he cares nonetheless.
And then look… He worked hard to get Marcille un-petrified again too, gathering medicinal herbs even with the risks! And in the end, he wants to take credit for what revived her hehe.
For once she’s the one who gets to tease him lol.
I want to know how the group whispering strategizing went. Chil for sure was part of the "If we tell her she’ll look cute she’ll take the bait" convo. Funny that in the end he doesn’t even praise her, I think he’s the one talking about her frog-like silhouette… Edit: EPSODE 10 IS OUT GUESS WHAAT Laios is the one saying the frog silhouette is fun (should have seen it coming) Chilchuck is the one saying "that looks great on you"/"very cute" depending on the translation, the line delivery in the eng dub at least sounds shaky, sounds like hesitance.
You know I never put this in a marchil comp/post even tho it’s a page with a lot to say, and I only realized recently why it made me so uneasy/conflicted. Because by all means "Our magician successfully stood against the mad magician" is flattering, but Chilchuck’s point in this page is that he’s worried about how her life is gonna go, which ties into his worry for others about the law, their jobs, the way Puckpatti is carefree, etc. In this chapter he suppresses his worry and care with anger, but the point still remains that he’s worried for her and her professional future and thus like, her general life direction and all. Sigh anyways more analysis coming on this topic at some point
Looking out for her:
Keeping each other in check. Always gets to me how much she listens to him when the topic’s serious
Love how this is how the party naturally divides. Sigh Chil, Marcille & Izu are so family shaped…
Ep 7 is out and was fun! Not many marchil moments though. This one was notable though lol, never caught it while reading. Truly they are comrades in fear, hide behind each other when something unpleasant is happening. They would risk their life for each other but also they would throw each other under a bus and use as a meat shield if necessary /hj
Anime director doodle! Them against the world…
Get yourself a man who looks at you like this after you did dark magic and caught him shit-talking.
See you soon! With the anime and the new adventurer’s bible I have no doubt that I’ll find more to share with them shipping goggled eyes o’ mine in no time, And if you follow these as they come up, go back to look at the end of the last part in case you missed the crumbs I edited in up until it was completed!
30 pics have been reached in this part… See u later gators
Part 7 here
#Come get your marchil crumbs masterpost part like it’s your morning newspaper everyone#Dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#marchil#chilchuck tims#marcille donato#Just realized today that maybe Chil started teasing her so much as revenge for the way she treated him as a kid help#Love them interacting like all the time ty canon

OCtober 11 - symbolism
ok yeah technically im not doing any kind of OCtober official prompt list but this specific one inspired me to infodump abt my angel coded girlie so we’re here anyway and you’re coming down with me. hand in unlovable hand.
OKAY SO this post is about Featherbreeze from my warriors ocverse StarClan’s Chosen (no relation to the MAProject it’s been called that since 2014)
Detailed Backstory Infodump TM below the cut but the symbolism part! is that she is extremely angel coded. Featherbreeze spends most of the story being a guardian angel type character to Owlgaze and Robinwing (my blorbos of all time forever) by giving them everything that she couldn’t have. And she’s a Fallen Angel in that she gets kicked out of heaven for it. and that she likes going against cat heaven’s rules in general bc medicine cats not being allowed to date is stupid and not being allowed to love a cat from another clan is stupid and people should be able to do whatever they want forever!! so her main deal is using her starclan powers to be d the rules around her personal favorite little guys bc of the injustice she experienced in a similar situation. I love her so bad. here’s some more art as a treat ok bye <3 (the hiii girlie one was made by my bestie and co-writer @rockythebunny13 we love her)
LORE INFODUMP DOWN HERE IF YOU WANT IT ⬇️
so this girlie was medicine cat of her clan (not specifying which one bc baby neon apparently gave her the same prefix as the clan she was in?? And that’s confusing???? we do our best) but could not deny she was bit of a hopeless romantic…she ended up falling Hard for this warrior from another clan named Darkpool and they had a cute little secret forbidden romance. like he would bring her pretty shells and smooth stones and feathers and things he would find on patrol. everything was chill until eventually they were found out and punished for breaking the code and (I can never decide if this is related to the punishment or not) Feather’s tragic death in a raid on her clan 😔
so now our girl Featherbreeze is in starclan and despite it being cat heaven nobody there really…likes her…bc they know what she did technically broke the code so even if she didn’t like. do anything bad enough to get into cat hell they’re still kinda rude about it generally. she spends most of her time watching the living cats like they’re tv lmao. speaking of that- after many many moons she notices two young medicine cats Owlpaw(gaze) and Robinpaw(wing) having some kinda attraction and she sees herself in them. and she’s still really hung up on how unfair it is that she should be punished for literally just kissing a cat from another clan (especially while being a medicine cat what the heck?!) and these two should be able to have what she couldn’t, dammit! so she starts setting into motion a plan to fake a prophecy with her own two hands that will signal to them that it’s ok for them to date they have “starclans blessing” or whatever. and it goes really well! and from that point on she goes out of her way to use her powers to give them their own secluded little dream space so they can have dates and stuff in peace without endangering anyone irl. and their relationship starts really flourishing from these meetings!! even if it does kinda lead to Owl sleeping a lot of the time bc he’d rather hang out in the dream space than like. being a real person. but whatever <3
unfortunately there’s a little snitch (Pebblesplash) who has it out for Feather and gets the word out somehow and that gets the dream meetings shut down and Feather ultimately kicked out of starclan to become a wandering spirit…that sucks….she wanders around for a bit trying to find out if anyone can even see her and tries to contact Owl and Robin but they in fact, cannot. they end up meeting in secret irl since they miss each other and she watches over them still. this eventually leads to Many Problems but that’s a whole other post. tysm for reading please tell me if u did bc im not convinced anyone wants to hear abt it lmao
#bweirdoctober#warrior cats oc#warriors oc#oc-tober#my art#starclans chosen#I just kinda Went Off so please enjoy the infodump if u want to know about her#featherbreeze#owlgaze#robinwing#pebblesplash#scc#img#text

Some S5 Ideas, Before Information Starts Coming Out And They Get Destroyed lol, Pt. I
Part II | Part I.V
Roughly ordered from most to least likely to actually happen, but I'm at most like 50% on any of these. Except for the first one which is a 100% :)
No one dies. Yeah, that’s right. Maiming is on the table tho.
The Duffs said we were getting the original groups back together so I’m running with the idea that our boys (and girl) spend the majority of the season as a unit. (yes, this is mostly about the party, I only think about them lmao)
Mike and El have twin arcs that center around responsibility. They are both officially named the party’s leaders who get the last say on anything the group does, specifically for dangerous situations to make sure the group works together. Technically El is the Supreme Leader who gets the final say if they disagree on anything and generally isn't argued with, but Mike is more often coming up with and overseeing plans. They both take this role very seriously, and end up putting perhaps unnecessary pressure on themselves. They both feel responsible for keeping everyone safe, to the point where they would gladly sacrifice themselves if it meant making sure no one else got hurt or died. Mike grapples with his own fears and starts to buckle under this newfound feeling of being responsible for his friends lives, while El also feels the larger responsibility of being the only person with the power to actually fix the apocalypse. Does this mean she has to be willing to do absolutely anything to fix it? Is she even actually the only solution? Does she have to prioritize saving the world over saving her friends?
Lucas of course feels horrible about “letting” max die and funnels his regret into training to make sure he never loses a fight again. As soon as they figure out a plan to get her back he’s on the warpath, and ends up making some game-winning (and very risky, much to Mike's chagrin) plays for the mission.
Will’s arc is about him finding his own self-worth, and ends with him getting to physically defeat the representation of his trauma.
Nancy teaches Mike how to shoot a gun.
Hawkins gets destroyed. I want it destroyed. The rot from the gates and the gates themselves spread over time and eventually monsters come pouring out, making the area completely inhabitable and everyone gets evacuated and the town is closed off. Of course, our heroes eventually have to sneak back into it to fix The Plot. Imagine a scene where they go to the Wheeler house looking for something and have this terrible “oh shit. Nothing is ever going to be the same again” moment as they see how broken down and destroyed everything is. Our homes are destroyed and there’s no going back. It’s like a metaphor.
Everyone ends up having to begrudgingly work with the government/military to fix Hawkins cuz I mean, there's no way they’re leaving the area of this insane alien disaster and someone on the Alien Disaster Response Team is going to know about Eleven and realize that she’s their best resource for fixing this (again lol). Our heroes agree to this because they don’t really have a choice, plus the military has a ton of resources that they can steal utilize.
I also want that timeskip. A lot of it is spent in a makeshift military base in the next town over trying to figure out how to approach the Vecna problem, who has been weirdly absent for too long. There’s very much a held-breath, dread vibe during this section.
During this lull, everyone trains to become apocalypse-ready, and El finally gets an unironic, non-trauma-based training arc to become the finely-honed, superpowered boss bitch she was always meant to be.
Also Dustin learns a good deal about field medicine, which becomes a skill that he utilizes at least once in a very life-or-death situation later.
The other half/two-thirds of the story is spent traveling to the heart of the apocalyptic Hawkins after confirming the military can’t be trusted.
Will gets slightly more utility out of his monster sensing powers/curse than just being able to tell that the giant ominous rumbling is danger, actually. He can more or less read their minds and sense where they are in an area, which allows the group to avoid or ambush them. It would also be really cool if there was some moment where he sensed some goal the monsters had and it was all spooky and cryptic, or he figures out a way to mask his presence from them and there's a tense scene where he sneaks through a heavily infested area to get to something. Idk, the show’s scifi magic system barely has rules anyway we can have fun with it.
Max gets woken up halfway through the season and has some important new information that is the key to stopping Vecna. I like the idea that she retains like 20% vision and her bones healed through the coma (and the timeskip cough), so she forces the boys to bring her with them on the final mission to end everything despite their reasonable concerns about her physical state. Just so we can have the whole group together.
Continuing the responsibility theme, the idea of El having to sacrifice herself to fix everything is brought up multiple times. She never argues with this—its clear she agrees on some level, but then when the moment comes for her to do the thing and die to save the world, she decides “fuck it, I wanna live actually” and fights her way back to her friends.
The one time someone (Dustin) is brave (dumb) enough to suggest El sacrificing herself in front of Mike he almost spontaneously combusts with rage and gets to say the one ‘fuck’ of the season. I would say lmao but its actually a very intense emotional scene ok take this seriously please.
Mike finally gets a real Violence Moment (checkhov did lend him a gun). As well as anyone else that wants one.
It would be fun to see Dustin like legitimately bitter and angry after what happened to Eddie. He blames the townspeople for Eddie’s death and generally lacks empathy for anyone opposing them. Not sure how that would wrap up for him though.
El loses her powers permanently at the end of the show. I just think it would be a good ending for her to finally get to be normal, and not have the government breathing down her back (as much) anymore.

For the Pride asks:
5. & 9. for an OC of your choice
and 20. & 21. for in general <3
this took me forever to answer but we’re here now 👀 let’s do some… tcol generally
5. How did you figure out your oc's identity?
i’ll talk about clear for this but when tcol initially came into being clear and san were supposed to end up together — which in retrospect and hindsight literal just PFFFFF WHAT. terrible. but san’s character was kind of different back then and i hadn’t quite developed the skill of nuanced character personalities and backstory yet. but when i started to write the very old version of tcol (in notebooks) whenever i wrote clear and forte interacting there was just… something there, yknow? the first person that forte talked or laughed around was clear. they naturally hung out and stuck with one another and while i wasn’t quite sure what was going on with forte i felt like something was up with clear
(this isn’t necessarily unique to clear this whole… i notice you gravitating towards a dude because if i take ANY of my older ocs who are dudes: toph, clear and darren specifically, they all started in their initial concepts in relationships with femmes but then i realized that like… yeah no that’s not it).
when i started deciding to take tcol more seriously and started worldbuilding/fleshing shit out, i then realized why clear ran away from home and his sexuality was part of the reason why. there’s something to be said about why i do make this many of my characters struggle with sex and sexuality and it’s because of so. much. xtian upbringing repression. cough. but i ended up realizing that clear liked forte more than just a friend which was enlightening (wow, he’s gay!) but then also created the: oh. there’s kind of a love angle now.
but realistically me growing more comfortable in my own sexuality and attitude towards sex helped me peel back the layers of clear to discover that he’s a gay boy with mad repression and trauma lmao. basically.
9. Are there cultural or lore specific aspects to their identity? If applicable, does their species affect it?
gender and sexuality are pretty fluid in tcol; there are some bigots who exist or people with slightly idk regressive viewpoints however: two of their deities in tcol are genderqueer (YUTARA, deity of medicine is also androgynous/nb and goes by they/them. they’re also the god of gender expression & MARTH the god of blacksmithing and alchemy is a trans man. got a whole city named after his origin story of becoming a man -> marthveil). the war goddess YLENE and YUTARA have an ages long slow burn going on (YLENE literally has a seared into her skin kiss mark on her body because she wanted to immortalize the time that YUTARA gave her a kiss on the cheek. however they aren’t “together yet” in the traditional sense because YUTARA can’t help but tease YLENE). the second king of lathsbury anele of kairos is a he/she butch and was married in a literal war enemies to lovers rival dawn nightwillow… etc etc. there’s a lot of lore of queerness in tcol basically
20. Have your ocs helped you in self discovery? How?
my preference for writing male characters and finding it easier to relate to them and get into their heads was kind of a big giveaway for me growing up. making a lot of mlm ocs also helped me kinda discover that yeah mood me too. and vice versa; the more i discovered about myself the more i was able to imbue those discoveries into my ocs
21. Free ramble card wee
i haven’t talked much about anele of kairos and dawn nightwillow bc i adore the first age of tcol quite a bit and these two only come around during the end and into the second era but their love story is supremely funny to me. basically the only time terrae had a civil war happened while these two were leaders and in part of the peace treaty they married each other. the funniest parts of their eventual romance is (1) that there was a romance at all bc the two of them were so set on just tolerating each other (2) the god of love MIRANKA was literally born out of their union and if that doesn’t say something idk what will and (3) the reason MIRANKA was born, isn’t bc love didn’t exist in terrae before them it’s because he’s also the god of relationships in general and his oracles act as magic relationship counselors LMAO. so he really was born out of hmm. y’all need relationship therapy and it’s funny to me
real enemies to lovers vibes yknow

@kickflipkidd
so in order to explain the Story™️, I gotta establish the setting and magic system
so this is set in Future(+alternate history) Seattle, and its basically a streamlined version of the world we actually live in, so you have five big Megacorporations that control Media, Medicine, Tech, Security, and Consumer Goods, and those corps have subsidiaries upon subsidiaries and there are all sorts of vigilante/renegade groups that target or directly oppose specific corps
so the TechnoFae specialize in undermining Cold Iron Security, a subsidiary of the Security and Tech corps. mostly what the TechnoFae do is remove real people from the system. in the simplest cases, this means faking a death. sometimes it means creating a new digital history for someone and the old history is used as a Glamour for TechnoFae operatives. sometimes it means wiping every trace of a person out of the information superhighway. yknow how anything on the internet is there forever? these people can find it and erase it. you never existed.
then the magic system. Magic and Science are intrinsically linked, in that scientific principles are magical and vice versa. so there are three basic principles: Stasis, Entropy, and Force. Stasis + Force creates The Machine, all the way from simple levers and ramps to supercomputers and AI. Entropy + Force creates Magic, the Anathema, things that work but have no material explanation. Stasis + Entropy + Force is organic life, the Animus. but Stasis + Entropy is a great big question mark, a theoretically infinite energy source; its never been been discovered, but harnessing the theoretical power could fuel the entire world until the heat death of the universe. Harnessing that combination would basically make someone a god.
decades of experimentation trying to combine Entropy and Stasis yield... nothing. you cant distill those principles out of anything, let alone combine them with the other. oil and water, they dont want to mix. then one day, some genius has the idea of subtraction; take a living thing and remove their Force, see what happens.
trials start small, bacteria and single-cell organisms. it takes a massive amount of power to pull the Force from even those, and that barely generates enough electricity to make the hairs stand up on your arms. but as energy breakthroughs are made, it becomes feasible to remove Force from bigger and more complex lives, flies and mice and frogs and so on. they start growing basically test tube babies to become experiment fodder. once you can rip the Force from a fly, its only a matter of time to be able to pull it from a Person and create a limitless battery, so they grow people to use specifically for this cause.
one of those people, our plucky child protagonist, figures out what their purpose is supposed to be. their """father""" is (conveniently lmao) the CEO of Cold Iron Security and (out of love, or at least concern) gets them in touch with Morgan, bc even he has a personal code of ethics and this is Fucked Up.
so Child Protagonist (code name Mordred) wants to be wiped out of the system. would be easy enough, except they have like 10x the regular amount of data stored abt them and its all Suspiciously Centralized, so the TechnoFae end up digging in deeper than they usually do and find out 1: this experiment is Fucked Up and 2: Mordred isnt the only potential sacrifice
so they set out to find and as many Experiment Candidates as they can and erase them from the system, and thats the plot of the book

If you’re not into Pokémon feel free to ignore this but what Pokémon would the ROTT and COI ROs have? Would they have any type preferences?
This took a while because I was THINKING
Keep in mind I am not really into the really recent games but that being said.
Rott
Ardwen
Only ones that fit his specific brand. Persian but not Meowth (heresy), Glameow but not Purugly. Flareon because of its vibes. Gardevoir, not Gallade. None are trained especially well.
Oh and DEFINITELY Purrloin/Liepard.
Arke
Probably more practical ones, like Pokemon that could help him with his chores or jobs. So Timbur, Mudsdale, mon like that. But also Cubone for reasons :)
So I guess he'd prefer rock/ground or normals types
Calyssa
She basically becomes a horse girl (like she isn't?) Rapidash, Mudsdale (probs her first), Zebstrika. All of which she raised up from little babies. And to round it out she'd have a flying type to get her around.
Type preference: hors
Druvel
He's the type of guy who would have like six of the same Pokemon because aesthetics and/or he loves them. Probably Dreepy or something.
Emil
He'd probably be that one guy who keeps all his Pokemon at their first evolutions. So Pichu, Ralts, Skitty. And/or he'd have every single evee evolution to be fancy.
Ettia
I was gonna make this joke with Lokeira but then I realised Ettia would genuinely have a Sylveon so... Trans Pokemon for trans trainer.
But in general... A lot of water Pokemon like Lapras, Mantine, Milotic, etc.
Gwyn
Just funky guys. A Quilfish for sure (he named it Ettia), Togepi, Mawile (my beloved), Xatu, Spoink, and a Wynaut. Probably skews more fairy or Psychic.
Herron
He'd be a grass/poison trainer. Because uhhhh applications to medicine or something I guess.
So Breloom, Caractus, Oddish, Applin, Reserade, and Dustox
Keller
She'd probably have a bunch of Unknown because IF Pokemon existed in rott they'd probably show up in the Waylands. Also probably a Numel/Camerupt, a Trapinch, a Hippowdon and a Sandile.
She WOULD NOT catch dragon types for religious reasons but she would be friends with them :)
Korrin
They'd have like five Seviper, Serperior and Arbok and then a random mimikyu just hanging out or something.
Def friends with Jirachi or something tho.
Lokeira
Toxicroak, Sneasel, Gallade, Absol, etc. Kind of an edgy boy.
Necrolym
He'd have one Pokemon and that Pokemon would be a Slowbro
Nox
Something silly like that literal sword Pokemon. OH or that weird one, uh Escavalier or something.
Qora
Shinx :)
Oh wait there's a lion Pokemon now.. uhhh Litleo. :) Both. She has two kitty friends now.
Spotter
They'd probably get attached to a silly lil guy like Scraggy, Sobble, Helioptile, or Poplio, and never need another Pokemon again. They love their little friends.
OR Bewear :) for protection
Severa
I like the idea that all her Pokemon are just guys. Just dudes. Just basically regular men. So the Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee duo, those two from black/white, etc
CoI
Carol
She'd have like a lazy meowth that just hangs out at the bar and mooches for food.
Lowrie
Probably wouldn't be a trainer. They don't really trust themselves with animals.
Harley
For the joke they'd have a Jigglypuff and a Spinda and call them "The Regulars"
Doc
Maractus and/or Deerling
Mordred
He'd have a Zangoose, Blaziken, Arcanine. Kinda 'cool' Pokemon that your average ten year old would love.
Allard
Sableye and a Bannett but only those two for reasons. The three look suspicious everywhere they go :)
Ridley
They'd have an Ursaring
Arthur
He'd probably just keep like a munchlax around cuz it followed him home one day lmao.
Perci
Noctowl and a Smeargle. For crime reasons.
Deimos
Houndoom, Mightyenna, Umbreon, and... Yamper. Maybe he just likes dogs actually.
Adrastea
They'd have a bunch of really fancy looking Pokemon that only ever do anything in competitions yet somehow will kick your ass.
Ninetails (both variants), Primarina, Hatterene, etc.
Saga
Cute Pokemon only. Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu. You know. Those ones.
Dagda
They'd just have a Gothitelle (another guy adjacent Pokemon lmao) and nothing else

I had previously gotten the impression that covalent chlorine and fluorine (as opposed to ionic) were generally very bad for biology, tending to be very toxic. (From various indirect sources. The only one I can name for sure was the novel Zodiac (1988), which is fiction but from an author who usually does his research very thoroughly.)
But you said in your recent Teflon post that carbon-fluorine bonds are very nonreactive and safe. So was that impression completely wrong, or is it just other forms of covalent halogens that are dangerous, or what?
Starting with a little FYI, I received a couple of asks as a result of the Teflon post. I definitely won’t answer all of them 1.) because I want to limit myself to confident answers about things that are either my specific field of expertise (which is mostly metals) or things I 100% learned in my coursework and 2.) I’m mostly here to shitpost about anime and I’d rather talk less about my day job. With that out of the way…
Halogens! Everyone’s favorite column on the periodic table including Flourine, Chlorine, Bromine, and Iodine. Your assumptions here are mostly correct, halogen containing organic molecules are often very bad for your body. This is because of the fact that halogen salts are very stable and so C–Cl, C–Br, and C–I have a tendency to break, react with things and generally muck around in the very wet insides of our cells. In particular they often react with DNA which is why they’re carcinogenic. This is also why the corresponding salts won’t hurt us, they’ve already hit their most stable point. This reactivity is also part of the reason they’re very useful industrially. It’s extremely important that manufacturers dispose of such waste appropriately because on top of its biological danger they also tend to be potent greenhouse gasses for unrelated reasons.
Fluorine, however is a little different. C–F bonds very rarely break, especially aliphatic C–F bonds like you find in teflon. The reason SOME Florine compounds are toxic is actually the exact opposite of the other halogens. The enzymes that make our bodies function are extremely specialized, and often their job looks like this: grab a molecule, rip off a C–H bond, replace that bond with something else, let go of molecule, repeat. What can happen is that your body will grab a molecule without being able to distinguish between hydrogen and fluorine, try to break that bond, then get stuck when it can’t. The enzyme then has a hard time letting go of the fluorinated molecule and is essentially disabled. Because enzymes are so specific in what they grab onto you often see this mechanism used in pharmaceuticals because the fluorinated medicine will disable for example, specific enzymes in bacteria, without getting picked up by any of the enzymes in your body. This is why Teflon is safe, literally no where for an enzyme to grab hold and get messed up. PFAS’s are a little more complicated because they also have an acid group at the end but for the most part they aren’t something your cells are looking to grab onto and try to digest.
Also, bucking the trend again, you don’t want to fuck with fluorine ions that much. We’ve all seen Breaking Bad (I actually haven’t, lmao), HF, hydrofluoric acid, will literally eat your bones. If you get HF on your skin there’s a special cream you have to apply as soon as possible and repeatedly for weeks after, because that HF will just keep trying to get to your bones even after you’ve washed it off the surface. Fortunately, no one in their right mind works with it and you are very unlikely to encounter it unless Mr. White tells you it’s time to cook.

more oc lore dump
up next is ebony and ghost boy!! theyre (probably) the shortest section so im gonna do them next :D
(i also finally found 2 names i like for ghost boy: rowan and lesley, if you reading have a preference lemme know itll help me decide lmao, for now i think ill go with lesley for this post so i dont have to keep calling him ghost kid but it will be subject to change)
ebony and lesley live in a fairly average sized town inspired by a post i saw at some point that was something like "rainy town but instead of being gloomy they embrace it and have celebrations and stuff". thats literally this town. they love the constant rain and its really nice. its actually a bad omen to them if it doesn't rain for an extended period of time. umbrellas are the most common thing you'll see around here, people without an umbrella or some kind of rain attire will sometimes get the side-eye, its an obvious indicator you're not from around here. theres yearly festivals for various holidays with everybody out in the streets with special fancy umbrellas and rain coats and its really fun. theres some folks who are skeptical towards outsiders, but the town in general is mostly welcoming. they are somewhat superstitious though.
ebony and lesley specifically live in this old library. its suprsingly big for a place not many people visit. people don't visit very often mostly because a good chunk of people still think its abandoned. some people heard it was also haunted so most people avoid it. ebony doesn't mind, she doesn't have the best social skills and doesn't fare too well in crowded areas, so shes happy being alone most of the time. nothing makes her happier than sitting in her library with just the sound of the rain and reading her favorite book by some candlelight. she has lesley for company if she ever gets lonely, so she's doing just fine.
ebony is this spider girl from a different area. (like i said, her design is really similar to muffet from undertale) she's a bit short for a female spider, but thats because, like i mentioned, shes trans!! like irl, most spider males are significantly shorter than the girls, but ebony was lucky and ended up being pretty tall compared to her brothers. she often wears boots and shoes that give her another couple of inches and help her feel more comfortable in her own skin. her family was pretty overbearing in general, and didn't react very well to her coming out. she grew up very sheltered and didn't know why she wasn't comfortable being referred to as a boy until she was much older. she decided to move out so she could be more independent, but still has a lot of anxiety about living by herself mostly. she also now lives in an area shes not adjusted to since she used to live in a much warmer climate, so she tends to get sick easier. she met dorian when he came into town one day and he quickly became friends with her. he regularly visits her and brings lots of medicinal herbs and shit everytime he does!! she's really happy to have a friend aside from lesley, and always looks forwards to his visits.
lesley is a little ghost kid that haunts the library. the library was built on where his house used to be. his house burned down on one of those rare days where it didn't rain. stuff like this happens alot on days it doesn't rain, so it further proves people's suspicions about a non-rainy day being unlucky. didn't help that his birthday was on a day without rain, which they also consider unlucky. poor kid :( he has a little paper crown though, and hes really happy to have ebony as a friend. hes been alone for a long time, which he hated, and even though ebony gets tired of him sometimes (he likes being a little shit) he loves the fact hes not alone anymore. he likes to pull pranks especially on strangers who come into the library, and is generally really mischievous. he can be really nice though. always helps ebony organize the books and in return she'll play a game he wants. they have alot of fun together, and he looks up to her like a big sister.
ebony met lesley when she first moved into the town. it had been raining particularly hard that day, and she wasn't prepared for it at all. she took shelter in the then abandoned library, and lesely gets really excited!! people haven't come to visit in foreverrrr so he pops out to say hi, unfortunately scaring the living hell out of poor ebony. ebony didn't want to go back outside though, unless she gets even more sick than she was probably going to be, so she said she'll stay until the rain gets lighter. then she found out the library had been relatively abandoned for years, and lesley had been alone for nearly that entire time. she felt bad, and told him she'd visit him. turns out she actually really liked how cozy and quiet the place was, and decided to make her home there instead :D
i think thats it for their general story? again if i have any revisions ill update it.
notes:
as ebony is a spider girl, she enjoys snacking on bugs. since no one had been taking care of the library, some bugs happened to make their home there. free food for ebony lol. dorian will sometimes brings some edible bugs for her from wherever he visits. he gets kinda freaked out by it, but hes happy to give ebony a gift.
lesley is freakishly good at board games. ebony has won, maybe once or twice in the hundreds of times they've played together. he brags about it all. the. time. hes very proud of himself.
they both have a pretty big sweet tooth. for lesley's birthday she got him a shit ton of various sweets and god he was so happy. didn't pull a prank once that day! ebony now knows she can bribe him into not pulling any pranks if she gives him sweets. (yes hes a ghost and yes he can eat stuff hes a dead child let him have this)
ebony does lots of bedtime stories for lesley. he loves them and she thinks its so sweet how happy he always is. <3
eveytime i say its a short infodump it ends up being so much more than ithought. jesus. this is rlly fun though :D really love getting to infodump about my ocs hehehehe

merripen stuff! naming the cult and coming up with some related terms
need to give his former cult a name because i can't keep calling it 'the cult' every single time. i want it to have a name that has somewhat more positive connotations on the surface because they do see their beliefs and actions as compassionate and good, they wouldn't want like. dark edgy terms that you'd normally associate with a group that venerates death and murder.
i've been considering plant imagery, specifically poisonous plants, since there's a theme with them of death being natural.
i feels very simple but i might go with 'the garden of mercy' as a name for the cult as a whole. individuals referred to as gardeners. not everything has to be real fancy or lyrical, simple is fine, and i just like the imagery here. so i think i'm going with that.
internally, they use flower/plant terms to reference different jobs and positions etc. for instance:
god every day i miss indenting bullets
hemlock for assassins or anyone whose main focus is to simply kill people, no subterfuge or involvement in big plots or long undercover jobs or the like, they just go out there and kill. water hemlock is apparently 'the most violently toxic plant in north america' in the real world, and poison hemlock is called that for a reason lmao. merripen was a hemlock when he was still part of the garden.
nightshade for those who infiltrate outside organizations, go undercover essentially. they do this to gain knowledge of various things for the garden, or to kill individuals who are harder to access (where hemlocks focus more on quantity), or to manipulate people in a way that leads to death inside or outside of the organization. nightshade berries are sweet which is how people often unknowingly poison themselves.
oleander for those who go into the outside world to try to spread their beliefs in a non-murdery fashion. these can be like... essentially dedicated missionaries, people who just go around trying to talk about the beauty of death, or more like people who take jobs where they can more naturally have these conversations with people. people who work in funeral homes, therapists. sometimes nurses or doctors, that's not IDEAL because if they don't want to lose their job they have to actively work to heal people or treat people with medicine which goes against their beliefs, but that can be seen as a sacrifice necessary to get the word out to others. extending a life is extending a person's capacity for pain but if you can help them lose their fear of death along the way, then you've still done good. oleander is highly toxic but fatalities are rare since the flower is bitter. though people HAVE died from as little as eating honey from bees that even just visited some oleander.
lily for members who typically don't have much interaction with the outside world, or who when they do aren't tasked with trying to talk to people about their beliefs. like they can if it comes up, but it's not their job. they just do their own thing. most gardeners are lilies. there are many types of lilies and pseudo-lilies that can be deadly or mildly irritating or have no effect on humans.
not a flower but the individuals who lead their communities are usually called groundskeepers.
buttercup is the term for anyone that isn't part of the garden. considered a weed, spreads very quickly, poisonous but not generally deadly. picking a weed for non-believers is very much intentional, particularly a pretty flowering weed with a sweet name. sometimes gardeners just refer to non-believers as weeds in a derogatory fashion if they have a harsher outlook of the outside world.
i like members being both the gardener and the flower, except for the leaders/groundskeepers. there's implications there.

@raedear ok this was originally going to be a reply to ur comment but then it went on for too long for the comments section LMAO so bear with me .
ok SO. my worldbuilding is so so flimsy here but picture a generic medieval fantasy backdrop. joe runs a potion shop. on the surface he is a friendly guy who makes good potions and is known for giving out medicinal potions for free. but he's actually secretly a werewolf (bad, stigmatized, trans metaphor) and sneaks off into the forest to transform every full moon. one day this guy Nicky from a neighboring village moves in and from day one he is in Joe's potion shop the minute it opens demanding he get a non-medicinal potion for FREE. and Joe is like. literally WHAT is this guy's problem. he fucking sucks and I am not giving him his frivolous potion for free. and then this happens every SINGLE week. Nicky comes in demanding this potion and being a dick bc it isn't being given to him for free like the medicinal potions Joe gives out. and they both hate each other so so much and are absolute assholes.
MEANWHILE. on the werewolf front. Joe goes to the forest to transform for the full moon and he eventually finds a beautiful silver tabby cat hanging out and that's not super unusual so he's like whatever. but the cat is SUPER friendly, like weirdly friendly, like way more friendly than a cat should be towards a wolf and they both realize pretty quickly that the other is a wereperson. but again being a wereperson is like. dangerous and stigmatized so neither are super eager to say who they are. but they keep meeting up on full moons and keep having an amazing time together. important to me personally: joe nicknames the cat "silver" in his head. eventually Joe works up the courage to bring a letter with him to the forest on a full moon that's basically like "I'll tell you who I am if you tell me who you are. would really like to get to know you in person <3" Silver brings a letter back next time that's like "sorry but I really don’t feel comfortable revealing my identity. sorry" and Joe is like. ok that's fair.
human check-in : nicky is still an asshole weekly. Joe is so sick of his shit. everyone else in the village knows nicky as a kind and thoughtful man and joe is like ok so he just specifically has an issue with me, great.
back to the animal side: Joe and Silver keep hanging out during the full moons but one night Joe gets injured (potentially protecting silver? that would be so juicy) and will clearly need help getting home once he turns back into a human. silver LEAVES and joe is like "damn I can't believe he'd really let me die in the forest rather than reveal his identity" and passes out. he wakes up back in his bed in his home with a healing potion on his bedside table and a letter, presumably from Silver. the note is addressed to "Wolfie" (Nicky's nickname for Joe-as-a-wolf. my google doc of this fic is literally named "Wolfie & Silver") and it's basically very apologetically like "I'm so sorry I left, I was scared of you finding out who I was and then when I came back you were unconscious, I gave you a healing potion, I still don’t feel comfortable with you knowing who I am even though I know who you are, but I won't tell anyone tho. sorry."
then Nicky shows up (despite Joe closing the shop that day due to not feeling well) demanding his frivolous weekly potion and he and Joe have a massive argument and both say some very unkind things. but in the heat of the argument, Nicky reveals that he is buying these potions for his grandfather, whom he thinks will literally get sick and die if he doesn't get them. they are both VERY confused with each other until they eventually figure out that Nicky's grandfather has been smuggling the potions that Nicky was buying to a neighboring village and making a profit from them. they spend the day plotting to give him a big batch of placebo potions to ruin his business & for Nicky to get revenge basically, and they have a very good time hanging out and both feel exceptionally bad for being assholes to each other for what they thought was a justifiable reason but actually wasn't.
Nicky ends up MOVING IN with Joe to get away from his shitty grandfather who is now very upset at him for ruining his scam, because they actually get along very well now that they don’t hate each other's guts and lowkey start getting a little hesitantly romantic. Full moon rolls around and Joe and Silver hang out as per usual, but this time instead of going off on his own before sunrise, Silver sticks with Joe and they transform back into humans together, and lo and behold: Joe's moonlight bestie Silver is also his ex-enemy, now roommate Nicky. Joe is like. exasperatedly fond and nicky is deeply embarrassed for keeping it a secret that he KNEW who Joe was the whole time they'd been living together.
they kiss or whatever and live happily ever after the end <3
werewolf Joe werecat Nicky enemies to lovers. they’re not enemies because they’re a cat and a dog they’re enemies bc Nicky is an annoying prick 👍
^fic idea that is floating around in my brain
#sorry this is so long lmao it got away from me#compels me though#this originally was spawned bc I could it get the image of Nicky as a gorgeous silver tabby out of my mind#and the rest just kind of grew .

hi! obviously you don't have to answer this if you are uncomfortable/ don't feel up to it but what exactly would you say is appropriation and makes you uncomfortable regarding warrior cats names? i find the concept of the cats having nature based names that are descriptive of their personality and stuff interesting, and would like to think of a naming system that doesn't have the current issues and implications since obviously i don't want to encourage anything disrespectful or offensive. looking into native american names and comparing to wc i do get an icky feeling, but i still can't quite put my finger on why. is it the fact that they change throughout their lifetime? the fact that they are compund words? a mix of these? something entirely different? i couldn't find any info on what makes them offensive, is why i'm asking, but again please only answer this if you feel comfortable, i totally understand why you wouldn't want to engage with this issue any further, and thanks for taking the time to read this regardless. sending good vibes your way <3
It's all good! Had a break/aka I worked kjhvkhj but im home now and mentally good :3
Alright so, the names. Medicine cat is not a bad name, I don't find that insulting or literally anything to do with Native American culture. What tends to bother me is some names - but it actually doesn't bother me that much! I know people who have last names like Swift Current, Sand Storm, Red Willow etc etc - but I'm almost certain that it's a coincidence. I love warrior cat names. It's not really about changing throughout the lifetime, or the fact that they are compound names, I think personally it all comes down to language and the relationship Indigenous peoples have to the English version of their ancestral names/words. English is all a lot of us have left, having been through generations of trauma that ripped our culture from their roots and killed our languages. Being hunted, seen as savages and different, having our folklore bastardized (Wendigos, for example) by people who just think it's cool and don't bother consulting or even considering the opinions of the people who those cultural pieces belong to. But I'm 99% certain warrior cat names and the clans are not a part of this. This is not fuckin Wumba's Wigwam, these are British-coded cats living in a world that makes sense in the fantasy world they were written in, Warrior Cats is not where we should be focusing any of this on. Acknowledge, and move on.
Yes, the perpetuation of the fans with these names and connecting it back to Native American culture specifically with the feathers and the tribe and whatnot is in very poor taste. But I think do many of the complaints were meant to be generalized to a lot of different media - it's probably hurtful to people who think that Warrior Cats is based on Native American culture, but the fact is that it is not. It's just not. I know this because reading these you can tell that there's no fucking way these god fearing cats are Indigenous LMAO there's NO way! It actually bothers me MORE that this is coming up at all. Racism is a touchy topic, esp for Native Americans, ESP where I live and what my family has been through, but it takes one look outside the fury that might be felt to see "oh, actually, that's not it here man". The fact that people are thinking about stepping away from the series or hounding people about it makes me more sad. It feels like people are looking at angry twitter voices and perpetuating them more than Native American fans who have resonated in some way with these characters. All I'm asking is that you give us a voice, see how we are suffering and have suffered, and maybe read the series with a more critical eye.

Vampyr: The Elixir Theory
I suspect we would have received a more complete explanation of this in the game, if the hyped-up Ascalon vs. Priwen vs. Brotherhood conflict had actually culminated in anything more than empty threats and bursts of turf war violence
but one element I continually see critiqued by fandom (and rightfully so!) is the exact mechanical function of vampire blood. the mechanics of Progeny-making are convoluted enough on their own, so I'll leave them for another post—but I'd like to focus on two specific examples of off-label uses for vampire blood (major plot spoilers follow):
namely, Geoffrey drinking King Arthur's blood, and Edgar administering Lady Ashbury's blood to Harriet.
why doesn't geoffrey turn into a vampire regardless of your choice, if he drank king arthur's blood without realizing arthur was a vampire? (and myrddin confirms arthur was a vampire in the epilogue) why does it work like a super serum? maybe he diluted it...?
but even just a drop or two of jonathan's blood was enough to turn mary, and he and arthur are both first generation ekons. so there has to be something else done to the blood, apart from reducing its amount.
and there are... several issues with the edgar example, to just name a few...
edgar was personally hired by ash and is admired for his competency by his employees (not least of all waverley ackroyd, whose respect seems like a thing particularly hard-won), he takes diligent notes and studies new research closely, so surely he wouldn't be so reckless as to use vampire blood for no reason? and i know, i know stephane beauverger's hormonal, temper tantrum-throwing version of Jonathan that shows up in every Y-choice scene tries to convince us edgar is a loathsome little bastard, but please bear with me and entertain for a moment the idea that, like so much else in this bullshit story, edgar's Y-choice scene is trash and should not be accepted at face value.
2) ash claims she submits to blood tests so edgar can "help her with her condition"; what condition, then, if not the blood of hate? are we on that "curing vampirism" nonsense from the epilogue? in either case, surely it's vital that edgar knows what he's working with if he's to make any meaningful forward progress on her cure? there's no world in which it makes sense for ash to give edgar access to her evil, fucked up, apocalypse-starting, jacob blackwood-Siring blood without informing him exactly what he's working with. for safety reasons at the very LEAST—if not because he is specifically trying to cure the thing which makes her blood so dangerous
if ash was somehow ignorant of edgar's experiments, she's seriously dating herself lmao. what did she think he was gonna do? toss it in a centrifuge and take notes? "oh i simply don't understand your modern mortal medicine" girl ok. the ONE thing this man wants most in the whole world is to be a vampire, and you give him your blood without any caveats about why turning himself (or anyone) would be a bad idea?
so, ok. ok. for the sake of actually addressing the similarity between these two applications of vampire blood, let's set aside points 2 and 3—for now. given an ash who asks edgar to treat her blood of hate, but who for some reason elects not to tell him any of the really vital details about why her blood is dangerous to handle...
why would edgar use ash's blood in harriet's treatment?
keep that question in mind, and let's go back to geoffrey for a second.
he calls king arthur's blood "the guard's most precious/sacred relic"; he gives it to jonathan in a small vial, yet when he drinks it in battle i believe it's in a flask? regardless, you don't throw back your Most Sacred And Precious Relic like it's shots at the local dive bar, and if he had he certainly wouldn't have any left to give Jonathan.
seems to me priwen has two things:
arthur's blood
some kind of super-strength-endowing, accelerated-healing elixir recipe which calls for "the blood of a king"
now. every relic and document priwen has which predates the brotherhood/priwen schism circa 1700s necessarily came from the brotherhood. and priwen left because they didn't like how the brotherhood let all these powerful vampires go on living, only calling the ban of the dragon (read: putting out a hit) on a vampire in really high-profile flagrant serial murder cases.
and why would the brotherhood give vampires a pass?
to spare you any more of my convoluted thought processes, I'll come right out and say it:
I think the brotherhood studied, tolerated, and built bridges with vampires, because they knew vampire blood could be distilled into an elixir that would increase human longevity.
the longterm goal here is to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and a base of knowledge to refine their concoction, so that at some indeterminate time in the far-flung future (maybe world peace? lol), humans and vampires can enjoy a fully symbiotic relationship which benefits both species.
but put yourself in the shoes of the top brass: you can't go around telling people that vampire blood can give you eternal life! there are already people in your organization who dislike vampires. what would they do with that information? vampires could become a slave race, or be hunted to extinction—people could be Turned just to be harvested in fucked up elixir farms!
so, okay. you just tell the primate and a trusted circle of high-ranking brotherhood members, then. problem solved?
well, now you've got this sort of internal divide—between the privileged and informed higher ranks, and the lower-ranking brotherhood members who are relatively new, who don't trust the vampires they're just now learning about—but who know just enough to participate in the ban of the dragon. and it's starting to piss that second group off, just how calm and smug all the higher-ups act about horrific acts of vampire violence, when asked why in God's name they've got to put up with that shit
maybe the recipe for the elixir trickles down to those lower ranks (in case they need to fight a particularly nasty Dragon), but it's modified. we don't want the haters knowing just any vampire blood will do, so just say that you need The Blood of A King, and wouldn't you know it, we just happen to have the blood of a king right here!
and he definitely wasn't a vampire!
thus: during the schism, priwen takes the blood of king arthur and the modified (unbeknownst to them) recipe. and after the first great hunt, the brotherhood is more sure than ever that the world isn't ready for the secret of vampire blood elixirs
but they still have it.
enter edgar.
he's currently in the brotherhood, which doesn't seem like a nomadic militia like Priwen, but an organization very firmly headquartered in London, with a library of secret knowledge.
and Usher insinuates he's something more than human. immortal, perhaps?
if we take all this as truth, then Edgar doesn't do a random act of uninformed medical experimentation with very dangerous vampire blood, contrary to everything we know about his character up until that point. he is working from a recipe that is a known, verified good. in fact, it's quite likely he used it on himself first.
(post-Turning, edgar gushes his enthusiasm about being "the next Henry Head"—a neurologist famous for severing his own neural connections to research neural pathway regrowth. edgar is 100% down for self-experimentation)
but it didn't work—either because the blood of hate has a more virulent effect on women, or because plague mommy interfered in the process personally (though it's really unclear how much the game conflates the blood of hate with Plague Mommy Possession, and how much blood of hate is just... regular bloodthirst. i told you this story makes no sense)
anyway, all the rigorous medical methods in the world won't do much to stop divine intervention, so that's why it didn't work.
the mason swanborough side quest also drops a lore document regarding the process of using skal tissue to cure blindness. AND Usher Talltree is heavily implied to be Unusually Long-Lived, so... yknow. it seems like the only reason this has to be inferred at all is because the rushed production left so much of the story fractured.
but all the pieces are there.

My enchantix redesigns that I’ve had laying around for a while. I’m going through my computer to try and clear up space and came across some winx stuff. I haven’t done the wings for them still to this day in any finalized way because they are very intimidating to me lmao. Some info here on how enchantix outfits and fairy outfits work as well as the inspirations for the clothes for each of the characters below! I’m going to include some more individual design notes from my sketchbook later too.
In my version of the winx redo, all fairy transformations have to do with a sense of self to an extent. The more sure and secure of oneself one is, the more likely certain parts of the outfits are to carry over to the other transformations. For example: I have multiple transformations for Daphne that I’ve done, but there are a lot of traits carried over in the designs (her tirar, her color scheme, cut of cloth, etc) since she was always very self assured in who she was. She was Marion and Oritel’s daughter, future queen of Domino, and the keeper of The Dragon Flame and she was going to become as strong as she could for her people and the universe so she could use The Dragon Flame as best as possible. (I swear I’ll upload her stuff at some point they’ve been collecting dust for literal years now sskdjkjfla).
The same can’t really be said of the girls here, and that’s fine too. Aisha is the one with the most confidence in who she is and that shows here in the carrying over of her metal accents (arm bands, a metal ring at her waist, albeit with a jewel in it this time) and the cloth that goes across her chest and wraps around her waist.
Another thing that can influence the appearance of a fairy transformation is closeness with another individual. Aisha at this point already knows she likes Musa (I’m going to upload a post after this going more in depth on their relationship in my version) and her double buns are influenced by that since that’s one of the main ways Musa likes to style her hair (she also helped Aisha really perfect how to do the hairstyle and as that was one of the first thigs Aisha ever really did with a friend after Anne left when she was young and not including the pixies, so it holds a lot of sentimental value to her. Musa was the one who went out of her way a LOT more than anyone else to try and get Aisha comfortable with everything. The other girls did too of course but Musa just kind of gets how it feels to be alone more than they do so they really understood each other.) Musa in turn also has armbands like Aisha and some cloth hanging from the tie around her waist in a way similar to the cloth trail around Aisha’s.
Bloom also has similar armor to Stella because of this, since Stella is Bloom’s closest friend out of the 6 and is the one who introduced her to magic and what it can mean to be a fairy.
Enchantix in itself works basically the same as it does in the show, and as the main focus of it is to save someone from your planet so you can become a guardian of it (there can be multiple guardians for a homeworld too. I always thought it was weird that it was implied there can only be one. The guardian fairies of a planet act as a protective council of sorts. They are expected to place the priority of protecting life on the planet above all else and sometimes align themselves with royalty as advisors for things if they it is requested of them by the royalty, but they are expected to be willing to break ties with any allegiance if the leader is doing things that upset the balance of the planet and enact cruelty, not that guardians have always done that in the past). As a result, it is tied closely to the culture of their homeworld, or the culture that the fairy is from if the planet doesn’t have a largely homogenous one.
Musa is based off of Chinese and Japanese culture, which is a really broad statement I know since there is so much that goes into those countries, but I tried my best to have it line up with the clothes she wears in the show and it seemed to be similar to that (and obviously her homeplanet is clearly inspired by Asia). Similar to what her original skirt seemed to be, the pants are inspired by paper lanterns, and the upper shirt part is inspired by the tops of dresses during the late tang dynasty. The design of the belt she has, although I didn’t really do a close up of it, is braided similarly to shimenawa (a rope used in ritual purification in the Shinto religion). She has an open lotus blossom that her hair is in the middle of that holds her buns in place and her makeup is based off of the Tang Dynasty and the little hair piece she has acting as her tiara thing (all the girls had one so I tried to carry that over) is based off of Quing dynasty hair styles specifically but like, similar hairstyles were used in other eras too I just liked those specifically.
Flora’s is based off of Mexican style clothes. The top part is based off of Folklorico dresses and the petal style I used for it is based off of marigold petals, which are used to lead deceased loved ones to the families shrine during Day of the Dead. Her makeup is also based off of designs seen on calaveras. Her head piece is a flower crown which is now a common staple seen in women’s fashion during festivals due to Freda Kahlo and her hair is divided into two parts. The upper part is pulled back into a braid that has a vine weaved in with it, which I took inspiration from hairstyles down there that thread ribbon into the braids.
Aisha’s was a trip to figure out. So her homeplanet really is,, something. There’s some middle eastern influence (her name is also Arabic), her mom and her when she was younger wore some 1500s style renaissance clothes, and also they have a shaman that seems to be based off of African medicine men, and then also there are mermaids wearing European style armor, so I had to do some looking around to figure out what I wanted to do here. In the end I went with Moroccan and Zulu style clothing overall with a few other influences as well and tried to mesh them together. The headpiece and the sash/hood are based off of women’s head dresses in Morocco and the facepaint, arm and leg bands are based off of traditional Zulu attire. Cowrie shells are on the bottom of the leg and arm bands as they are used in Zulu attire in the same place as well sometimes, but also because a lot of African cultures see cowries as being representative as gateways to the spirit world (a lot of cultures have the spirit world and afterlife tied to the ocean). Her stack of necklaces are based off of the necklaces worn by the people Ndebele people of South Africa. Her shorts and top are rimmed with silver and the shape of the attire itself is meant to be athletic and practical for her. It is covered in fish scales. Her ears are a different color here than they were in her winx transformation also. That isn’t an enchantix thing but a biology thing I have made up in my head for Androsian people. The fins start off a light shade and then over time settle into a darker color, which is what it will permanently be.
Tecna’s outfit is ready for the cold. For the longest time we didn’t know anything about her homeworld except that it was cold, so, anyway Russia and Siberia lmao. The green lines on her body suit have light moving through them also which I just thought was a neat idea because technology is a thing. Her glasses aren’t a permanent part of the outfit also. They come out if she wants to concentrate her magic to do something very technical and intense. I thought it would be a nice way to carry over that faceshield thing she sometimes used in her winx form. Her physical features btw are based off of the Nenets people of Siberia.
Stella’s outfit is Greek based because I’m not original and I don’t know why almost all of us collectively agreed Solaria is Greco-Roman but we sure did do it. Maybe it’s because of the word Sol being in it.
Bloom’s is just,, European lol. Domino is a Renaissance Era place it feels like (probably because of her mom’s ermine stoat cape). So there. There are some similarities of hers with Daphne’s inadvertently (family ties can influence things sometimes too, which can be seen in the Bloom and Daphne comparison sheet on my blog), but Bloom doesn’t know that. When Daphne eventually does see her in her enchantix outfit during the time of or before the movie (which does happen in my version but with a LOT of changes. Daphne still talks to Bloom though and helps out like in the movie) you bet your bottom she takes a second to collect herself (happy to see the bond is strong enough that it did manifest physically in a way, sad because she remembers what it was like to once have that transformation and the general bittersweet longing for the time before shit hit the fan. I have so much stuff about Daphne I need to upload some of it soon).
So yeah! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk:)

so! you wanted to talk about your ocs, yeah? hm, idk about them so can you give a little introduction about who they are and their likes or something like that? or at least about some of them? thanks! 🥰💞
Thank you! Sorry for the delay I wrote way too much then wrote less but still too much then I took medicine that knocked me out lol.
So I’m going to talk about Draven because he’s who I’m fixated on, but if you want me to jump to another OC just say the word and I’ll talk about someone else instead.
So my first attempt at answering got out of hand and was not a “little introduction” so I’ll tag you in a separate post with all that if you feel inclined to read it after seeing the ‘short’ answer lmao. Even this answer got long so you can imagine the other went very detailed.
Let’s start with the part that’s short, his likes and dislikes.
Likes: Cats, he grew up with a big blonde cat named Captain who only liked him and he’s loved cats ever since.
Leto, his surrogate brother.
His friends…begrudgingly sometimes.
Music, he’s a big music lover, especially violin music but really anything he can tell had real passion put behind it.
Makeup and generally making himself look beautiful: it offsets the scars a bit and people—including his enemies—already call him uncomfortably pretty so why not lean into it. Plus it makes him feel good when people call him pretty/beautiful. (He might be slowly having some gender self-revelations but Draven isn’t very insightful so it’s taking him a while)
Dislikes: Demons, demons, demons. Glabrezus (treachery demons), Succubi (you know), you get the point. He really hates demons. He doesn’t mind tieflings/ abyssal sorcerers/ other people who just happen to have demonic blood in them, so long as they don’t let it define them. Which is good for him since he recently discovered *he* has demonic blood in his bloodline so he’d have had a way worse breakdown if he’d been upset about the blood in general not just which specific demon it belonged it (Jerribeth, a Glabrezu, and likely the cause of his entire family’s deaths…so yeah, baggage)
Other things he hates…people telling him how he should feel about something. He’ll feel how he should feel in his own time and not a moment sooner.
Having people’s lives in his hands. He’s a commander of an army he has no choice in the matter but he hates it so much he wishes he could just be a front line grunt fighting demons and risking his own life not giving the order that might kill dozens or more of others if things go wrong or he miscalculated. He carries the weight of every person who has died under his command and take it very personally.
People insulting tieflings for their existence.
About: this still got long but less long than the first time.
Draven Imani is a warpriest of the goddess of righteous valor, justice, and honor, Iomedae. After his family was killed by demons when he was 8 and he was the sole survivor, he was saved by Iomedaen crusaders. After he was healed, except for a Mark of Deskari on his wrist that festers and remains open no matter what healing is applied, they had him bandage up and keep it secret, although vicious rumors already began spreading. He was taken in by an Iomedaen orphanage called the Light-Oath Orphanage. This is where he gained his faith, and his desire to follow in the footsteps of the crusaders who saved his life. This is also where he met his best friend and surrogate brother, the tiefling Leto, who he’s been inseparable from for 13 years.
The two of them made a group of 6 who all wanted to join the crusades for various reasons, and they set out for the Crusader hub city of Kenabres. Unfortunately when they were an hour out of the city, a demon slipped through the wardstone barrier. Draven sensed it first, the evil mark on his wrist burning and bleeding in response. It was too late to flee or warn the others, and one by one they fell. Draven lost his eye while trying to protect Leto, and doesn’t remember the rest of the fight from the shock and trauma. Next thing he remembers is waking up in a healer’s bed in a temple of Iomedae in Kenabres, Leto waiting for him, his other friends dead, and unable to see out of half his vision.
The for next year he retrained himself how to fight with his sword and shield with only one eye, relearning to judge distances and to mostly figure out his spacial awareness. However because everyone saw him as irreversibly damaged, he got relegated to the lowest, least prestigious, most mocked rank of the crusades: the Raven Corps. And there he rotted in guard duty and being degraded by both townsfolk and other crusaders, all of whom see the Raven Corps as the lowest of the low.
Then the Wardstone protecting the city was destroyed, the Stormking, one of Deskari’s generals, lead an attack on the city and began slaughtering everyone, and the party was swept underground by the silver dragon Paladin of Iomedae, Terendalev, who told them they had a destiny to fulfil.
And then Auriel Answerer, Draven’s friend and mentee from the Raven Corps died right next to him striking a fatal blow against a Baphomet cultist. And it turned out Auriel was supposed to be Iomedae’s Chosen One. So because Auriel vouched for Draven, now Draven is the one allowed to wield the Holy Sword Radiance—although Radiance themself seems begrudging of this.
Draven met his hero, Commander Irabeth Tirabade, a half-orc Paladin and former Raven Corps member who once saved the city and was promoted to commander of the prestigious Eagle Watch Legion in recognition. Irabeth immediately gave Draven a field promotion to acting captain of the Raven Corps for recent events. No pressure or anything.
We destroyed the final wardstone shard that Deskari cultists were trying to corrupt into a weapon, via our archer Hiskaria avoiding a boss battle while the party fought her and kept her distracted by being bigger threats until it was too late. Then Hisy jabbed the stone with the rod of cancellation and it broke and destroyed her and two of her minions. And a single shard hit each of us after we had a vision of what had meant to happen—of the doomed world we weren’t meant to save—and how our actions had literally broken fate. Afterwards in reality the Wardstone shards sank into us and bequeathed new powers to each of us.
The night after becoming Mythic Draven met Iomedae in our dreams and received a number of really helpful boons from her. So Draven was in awe there. And learned from meeting the warrior goddess that maybe he should be less self deprecating about his own facial scars.
Since then he met the Queen of Mendev, got promoted to Commander of his own legion (The Adamant Shield Legion) with Irabeth friggin Tirabade as his mentor and advisor, they liberated an impenetrable citadel in two days, found out Leto was now working with the cult of Baphomet for unknown reasons, but he promised Draven that he wouldn’t let them hurt him. It turned out he’d been acting strangely since meeting a Glabrezu on the battlefield, and when Draven tried to ask over sending Leto only told him that “wishes come true at the most unexpected times”.
Since then. Dray’s learned that the mark on his wrist means he also made a wish to a Glabrezu, that he doesn’t remember because he was a traumatized child who was just tortured and saw his family killed when he got his mark. And not just any Glabrezu—Lady Jerribeth, the original architect of Drezen’s fall, and very likely the cause of his family’s deaths. And not only that, but Jerribeth’s blood runs through his veins, from within the last few generations of his family. So the Crusader, the demon slayer, who fights demons but embraces tieflings, is struggling to put his money where his mouth is when it’s his own blood touched by a demon’s influence. Also killing another mark bearer places a new mark of Deskari onto him, so he has a new one on his neck now from killing a raider half-fiend berserker who also shared Jerribeth’s blood and mark. He’s scared of the implications.
And that’s Draven so far.
