The servants know Sebastian isn’t human.

They have seen him return with bullet holes on his clothes and found no wound beneath, caught the way his eyes glow like a cat’s when they bump into him in a dim hallway, wondered at how expertly he can move when it’s pitch black outside. He could run fast as the wind, take entire rooms of gunmen out with nothing but silver-wear, and do things that should have taken him days in just a few hours. He never ate, he never drunk, he never even seemed to sleep, he just kept on ticking night and day, seemingly running off nothing. If you dropped a pin at the other side of the manor he would almost certainly hear it.

But he was also very particular about where things went in the kitchen; they had seen him cry over a cat on not one, not two but three occasions, and he was absolutely insistent that he wasn’t long-sighted and that the glasses were purely decorative even thought it had been proven multiple times that he couldn’t read something unless it was at least two feet off his face.

They all had secrets, and if he wanted to tell them he could do it in his own time, no good in trying to pry it out of him. For then, he made incredibly good food and frankly his most offensive aspect was his inability to give clear instructions.

Hello there! I discovered your blog not too long ago and just want to say I am enamored with your character designs and world building! Call me basic, but I'm quite fond of Theo; which begs the question: since Theo's mom is an ermine and his dad is a rat, is he technically a hybrid? Or is he genetically speaking a "pure" rat? If not, are there any physical traits that might separate from a typical rat? Pardon the numerous questions; love your work!

Interesting question! Putting Theo and his his father side-by-side can help elucidate this. Leonard is what you'd call a "normal" rat, but Theo isn't a normal anything.

Comparing the two, Theo has some ermine-like traits: his ears are slightly fuzzy instead of bald, and he has sharp, carnivorous teeth in addition to his more ratlike incisors. Of course, he a variety of other odd attributes, which make it harder to discern if these anomalous features are due to hybridization precisely or myriad other genetic quirks.

Theo has many peculiarities that aren't hybrid traits, but a mix of congenital health conditions (his supernumerary teeth and dwarfism, for example) and what I'd call "basal traits," sort of animalistic throwback features that people usually lack (his more backwards-shifted foramen magnum, which gives him a slightly hunched posture when upright, or his lack of hair). He's also just kind of ugly. These things separate him not just from your "typical" rat-people, but most people in general.

To circle back and answer your question: Theo wasn't identified as a hybrid when he was born, even though you could make the argument that he qualifies. Though hybrids don't face the same degree of stigma in the modern era as they did in the time of the Old Kingdoms, they do still face some scrutiny. Leonard and Jo could get away with identifying Theo as "just" a rat since his other more blatant issues obfuscate any hybridization, which frees him of at least one potentially embarrassing label when he already has plenty stacked on him.

That said, even if he goes along with the non-hybrid label, Theo secretly prefers thinking of himself as having hybridized ermine traits. Probably more of them than he actually has. It's a mommy issue/daddy issue thing.

Something I think is cute is that - y’know how Raph’s eyes are more on the yellow side?

Well, you know who also has slightly yellowed eyes? Donnie.

While Raph’s are more yellow, I think it’s cute that this is something that they share and I don’t see it pointed out too often?

It’s also something they both share with Draxum and Splinter’s current form (though again, these two have much more yellow sclera than the boys do.)

But yeah, I like that there’s this little detail that ties Raph and Donnie together, even if it’s small.

he’s actually quite tall for a goblin! idk exact numbers but Pok is described as very like. suave super spy so he gets to be tall.

he’s wearing human dress pants here and would theoretically have a matching human jacket with the sleeves rolled up too. he does have nice dress clothes tailored to fit a gobin that he got after freshman year, but no way in HELL is he getting them ruined on spring break.

the tattoos are incredibly detailed, full conspiracy board on one arm, newspaper clipping-loking things on the other, ���NIGHT YORB’ on his chest, just straight up a list of people’s names on his ribs, a big full piece of the crown on his back. the two lines on the back of his hand are ‘POK GUKGAK’ and ‘SHADOW CAT’

his glasses are the kind that you get in like. play spy kits where there are mirrors in the corners so you can see behind you. this will have no concequinces of the Baron variety surely.

one of my favorite little omegaverse things is the proliferation of scenting wrists which is not how human body smell works at all but is where we put perfume. it's so like. anatomy made up by people who have only ever read about having a human body. i also think this pheromones-as-perfume connection is borne out by the fact that everyone always describes characters in the omegaverse as having absurdly unlikely notes to their scents. like you just like perfume you're describing perfume there is no way he smells like cinnamon and chocolate lol
